We used the service, found a sitter who quit the next week. Fine; whatever. Then, I never used the site again; that was 15 months ago. Finally noticed it on my credit card bill and I've been billed $39.95 for 15 months (almost $600). Care.com says it will refund only the current month even thought the admit I haven't logged in in 15 months. I'm pretty wealthy, so it doesn't kill me, but there are a lot of poorer families who this would crush.

Unreliable and only interested in ripping your money off. I subscribed for premium membership for just one month but, it automatically ripped me off £348 since last year charging me £29 every month for services I never received. The emails that I sent to carers have never reached them in time (infact delayed by a few months!). Stay AWAY FROM THIS SITE.

BEWARE!
September 8, 2015

Care.Com is one of those fine print rip-off companies that make my blood boil. What I thought I was signing up for was one month of their service to find a pet sitter for $39.00. Turns out there must have been in the fine print that the $39.00 was per month and the subscription was for 3 months at $39.00 per month with AUTOMATIC RENEWAL! STAY AWAY!

I cannot upgrade my account so that I can reply to the bazillion emails I am getting. For some reason, the site tells me that I have errors in my billing info and that my request could't be processed at that time. I tried it twice before I realized I WAS CHARGED EVERY TIME I TRIED! The charges are pending and, per the site's help section, will fall off my account, but it must happen often if Care.com feels it necessary to post it in their help section. I know for sure that the info I posted was 100% correct -- so now what? Just keep trying? I don't have enough money to take on that many pending transactions!

This website is a Con
September 7, 2015

I applied for pet sitting jobs and never heard back from anyone. Occasionally I'd receive texts on my phone that would go something like this: "I saw your profile on Care.com and I need a pet sitter...". One of these offers sounded good, so I emailed the potential "employer" to find out details and send her my resume. Her reply was very strange. Her Google Plus profile photo contained the picture of a matronly Hispanic woman with heavy visage. She claimed that she and her husband were moving to New York, and that their dogs would be sent to the apartment ahead of time. Her husband would pay me extra to buy supplies for their pets, and that I'd need to make sure that everything on her list would be bought and taken care of. I requested a video interview or a phone number I could call her at, at the very least. She found this ridiculous and unnecessary and seemingly could not understand why I was ill at ease. Since I had the last word, I wrote her something about immoral scammers out there and deleted all emails from her.

Care.com hired competent web designers, possibly from a third-world country, to fool those desperate for service or employment. It may very likely be a scamming website under the guise of something trustworthy, shiny, and high-tech. What a great con. There is no way to contact Care.com directly except through a one-way mail form.

Don't believe every shiny website you see!

Sketchy
September 6, 2015

I've applied to several jobs and no one's gotten back to me and it seems like I'm the only person on this site doing anything. The amount people are willing to pay seem crazy and unreal to me too. $50 an hour for an entire week? That's several thousand. Seems like a sketch site.

I was in need of a pet sitter, and I paid for the premium account. I saved all of my log in information on my mobile device, and my mobile device had to be replaced due to a crash. I lost my log in information, and yes, I should have backed it up, but I did not.

I reached out to Care.com on 3 occasions requesting assistance logging in, and have yet to receive any help! It has been over 2 months, and I am still being charged monthly for a service that I cannot use, and no customer service assistance.

I do, however, get text updates and emails regarding having matches and messages waiting for me, unfortunately, I cannot remember my password to get logged in and I have locked myself out.

I plan on cancelling the reoccurring bank charges and filing to get the money back that I have paid without service.

Don't use them, because once they have you on a reoccurring pay account, you mean nothing to them.

I have used Care.com to find a nanny with great success. You have to use common sense when dealing with any web based service. I found following Care.com tips and suggestions very helpful. You do have to be patient, don't communicate outside of their system until you have met in person and all will be fine. Again, it's a great service if you use common sense and follow their tips on how to use the service. Oh, and they are up front about fees if you bother to read what they have posted about them.

While there are valid caregivers and parents on this site, there are just too many opportunities for scams and unreliable information. We paid $79 for a Preferred+ background check which COMPLETELY MISSED a conviction that was easy searchable on our state's court case search database.

On another front, we saw reviews placed for caregivers that didn't make much sense, but we had no way of communicating with the reviewer and the caregiver didn't have any method of dealing with the bad review - and it sounds like the review came from one of those scams asking trying to get bank account information.

We wrote to Care.com to try to resolve both of these issues, but received nothing but automated messages back.

Worst Service EVER. I rarely pay for things and regret paying for this service. When I was disappointed and emailed their customer service, they fully admitted that their data is not update to date and that people may not be available at all for services DO NOT PAY for this site!

I was trying to check services for pet care. In order to get information and before they tell you that there is a monthly fee associated with the service they request for you to enter your email address. I have got more than FIFTY EMAILS IN 3 DAYS from potential sitters that I can not contact unless I pay for the service. I have made several requests to the site to eliminate my email address from their database without success.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.

I am disappointed that they cancellation process on the actual website (using the email option for cancellations) did not cancel my subscription. I canceled and knew I would have to check my statement the next month, just in case but as life and forgetfulness has it, it's been two months since I "canceled" and lo, I've been charged twice (two months). Now I am forced to be hateful on the phone when I speak to the customer service rep. That is AFTER I find the email that confirms the cancellation b/c, as you can probably guess--they won't refund any money without some sort of "proof" that I canceled two months ago. If you are thinking about using this device, do so with a couple things in mind: 1) cancellation is only confirmed (and your due diligence is still necessary) by calling. Don't even try to use the oh so convienant email cancellation and 2) after contacting several (over 14 individuals) for a reoccurring job, I only received two responses. Neither one of them worked out (one was early in her pregnancy and the other had job hr conflicts). So, be prepared to have to wait for responses and submit a lot of requests while being prepared for disappointment. Best advice--ask a friend, church group, or co-workers for recommendations. I live Ina city with a university and found a student who's in a sorority of girls who sit. It was the great as I knew I had a pool if she wasn't available. A lot less headache in the long run.

Unprofessional
August 24, 2015

I am a retired family physician with extensive experience for part time senior care. Care.com or their computer did not approve of my work history. Laughable but true. My query/feedback got a computer generated answer that I would be referred to the appropriate department. Never happened.
I could not find a phone # to contact them. I cancelled their service after one day. Got a computer generated confirmation. They are $45.00 richer for no service at all. Are there any persons with some compassion or care? Obviously not. Axel

Dangerous
August 24, 2015

I had a very limited profile set up for just one month and within a months time, I didnt land a job but I've received multiple texts to my phone, written in pour english, looking for a sitter. I of course never respond, but I am beyond angry that my personal information has been shared to people with very questionable intentions. I'm in my twenties and have the ability to recognize this as a scam but a lot of younger girls and guys may not be able to see through the smoke and end up in a terrible situation. STAY AWAY from this website.

Isn't it strange how Care.com doesn't validate people seeking help, but is quick to spread lies about caregivers? Members/subscribers are using Care.com to scam others. Also, Care.com believes anything a subscriber says about a caregiver because the member PAYS them. It is all about money. Caregivers should charge a fee to appear on their lists instead of giving them free recruiting services. Fortunately, I got a great job there and it only led to numerous others by simple word of mouth. Care.com will NOT ruin my fine reputation try as they may.

HELP! I used CARE.COM exactly ONCE to get cat care in a hurry when in a panic. I gladly paid the $20 to get access to a specific category of service. To my SURPRISE I have been billed $20 every month since with no use of the service. I have tried repeatedly to find a way to cancel the so-called "subscription" with no success. I have never used the service again and am now into over $300 in payments for something I didn't want in the first place. It's unconceivable that there is no way to contact your company to cancel a "subscription". I am appealing to whatever policy of your company that allows a sense of reasonability to cease a forever drain of my credit card for a black hole of useless payments.

My 18 yr old daughter applied for a babysitting job on care.com. She received an e-mail saying she was hired even though the person never met her. The woman told her she was from PA and moving to her area right near her. She had a 5 yr old son who had a recent accident and was using a wheelchair per Dr. orders until he recovered. She then told my daughter that she was buying him a power wheelchair to make it easy on him for now. Then in the next e-mail the woman told my daughter she was so busy being a single mom and such and getting ready to move that she needed my daughter to buy the wheelchair and have it sent to the house the day they arrive. She said she added her first week pay in the check so she needed to deposit the check in her account, write a check for the w/c and she would give her the address to send it and she would keep the rest. The check was for 2800 dollars. When the check came the address on the priority mail was from New York, the check was from Iowa City and was a fake city check. It had no water marks. If my dad and I had not been made aware of this she would have deposited the check and lost most of her savings she been working hard on. We sent the check to the Iowa city police along with all the e-mail. I was shocked to come on here and read so many stories like my daughters. I do not think this is a safe site to look for jobs and obviously Care.com is aware of the scams happening on their site and not even warning these young students.
