Coming from an unbiased standpoint, my bulk order was simply great. Came in a business weeks time but well worth the price. I will be coming back.
I ordered soap from the bulk apothecary. I was happy with the product so I decided to re order more but while in the "cart" in the online store I decided to up the order to the next tear of discounts, and ordered 4 bars rather than 1. Their website states there is a discount if you buy 4 bars. I updated the quantity to 4 from 1. Because I didn't go back and select 4 on the item menu, I was charged incorrectly. Rather than offering to fix this issue and refund the difference, they suggested that I re turn the order, at my own expense for shipping, and then re order. They would then send me back the same exact order that I had to pay to ship back to them, at the correct price. Asinine solution, piss poor customer service, and I will not be buying from here again. Very disappointing. You would think the BULK apothecary would understand I was buying in BULK for not other reason than the savings. It is generally the only reason consumers buy in BULK.
Ordered $600 worth of stuff. They missed one $15 item and they nearly make it impossible to get the item they forgot to ship in the first place. Will never order from them again. I could understand if I had said I didn't receive a box of palm oil or an expensive oil but a $15 item out of a $600 order. There are many other places I can get what I need.
I purchased 500 dollars worth of bulk essential oils for my candle business and they are absolutely horrible! The cheapest essential oils I have ever worked with. They smell good out of the bottle but once put in a lit candle they have the most repulsive smell! Almost like a very strong gas. I can't use any of these products in my candles. I have no idea why they are so bad. A huge disappointment and waste of money.
My first (and last) order they shorted me 1/2 on one item (ordered 20, they sent 10) and on the 2nd item they sent the wrong product. Sent me a return label to exchange it and the exchange was the wrong item too! I called explaining they were spending more in postage to return the wrong item than the product was worth and they said they would not send the correct item until I returned it again! No compensation such as a coupon for a future order or partial refund for my time and effort having to leave work and drive to a UPS store to return the wrong item twice! Unbelievably bad customer service.
I had a big enough mess with my shipment that it required a conversation outside of the shipping or customer service realm. Well you can not speak with anyone there outside of "sales". All phone numbers and emails only take to "sales".
Is there someone there higher up who may be interested in what "sales" is doing? Nope!
This is why Amazon will continue to monopolize the industry, at least you can speak to someone higher up the food chain if need be. Bulk Apothecary can be lumped into every other category of $#*!ty companies once they've gotten their money.

Cheap product, half of our containers had fingerprints on them and were dusty so each had to be cleaned by hand individually which took forever. No response from customer service when we contacted them via email nor did they return phone calls.
Don't waste your money! Oil was like water with the scent. Ordered 16oz. Pine essential oils and received received an oily water/liquid
I order from them all the time. There essential oils finally helped my symptoms of lyme after 2 months on doxycycline that did nothing. I swear by them!
Takes shipments even when they are out of stock, no customer service, does not reply to emails or calls. Totally not worth doing business with, a waste of time, and money.
In this age of technology and ecommerce, the family owners go and boast about expansion but reality is they suck at what they do. Best example if somebody wants to study "Direct To Consumer Failure". Customer service is horrible. Reps on phone say that ownership/supervisor doesn't have time to entertain customers on call or listen to them. Who tells a customer that company leaders don't have time to talk to customers in this age?
I made a bulk order of the 4oz Amber glass bottles, which on the site are advertised with the droppers, and when I received my order, it was only the glass bottles, no lids or droppers included. This was a HUGE setback as I am a small business and not receiving the accurate product caused a delay in being able to deliver to my customers in time. And then I called to return the product and they refused to refund the full cost of what I paid to receive the product that they falsely advertised. DO NOT SHOP HERE.
I order from them and they finally shipped, but then the product was reported damaged. I waited a couple days to see if they would resend the order and it never happened. I called and spoke with them, they apologized and said they would ship the order in a couple days. A week went by and nothing! So I called again and they said they never received a call from me! So I just canceled my order and asked for a refund. Awful communication and they didn't seem to care at all! Well not be ordering again.
First time site user. I ordered 2 bottles of my daily fragrance because the price was so much less than anywhere. I felt it was too good to be true. I read the reviews and saw all the negative reviews were hand sanitizer and I understand how difficult that item was to deal with so I gave them a pass. I'm glad I did! 2 days later and I'm restocked prob for the year but thrilled with the price, follow up from customer service, and quick delivery. I'll be shopping here more often for sure!
Until recently, I have been ordering from BA for years for all my small business needs, and there has never been a problem with receiving my order in a timely fashion, until now! I ordered the same items as usual and here it is almost 2 weeks later, my purchase hasn't even been shipped. I called Customer Service and they were rude as hell! Even asked to speak with a manager, was put on hold for a long time and then the manger was rude as well. I cancelled my order and tried to reorder, 4 days later my items are still not shipped! I am soo sick of this! Being a small business, I depend on dependability, and they have let me down twice now! Not sticking around for more of the BS. Im done!
I placed and order over $250.00 they sent me the wrong item. Since Covid orders take 3 weeks to arrive. The website says 2-5 days, I had to call and find this out. Then I received the wrong item. I contacted them and was told that they could only send out correct item after they received wrong item. So my replacement would have taken and additional 4 to 5 weeks to receive after waiting the 3 weeks already. I placed an order with another company to receive it faster. I paid more but received in with in 6 days of ordering. I asked for an exchange or refund. They don't do exchanges... and my refund they can't refund sales tax! This practice is illegal. I would not purchase from this company. Horrible customer service and keeping of sales tax.
It's so sad these guys have gone downhill so deep. A few years back this was my go-to for all my apothecary needs but, then they started taking orders/money, without even having items in stock. This is not good at all as us smaller business look at suppliers who have the availability at the time they need it, and if they do not have it we need to be able to get it from other suppliers, but here you just never know if they actually have it in stock. The other major reason I am so unhappy with them is that a few of my most popular scents of fragrance oils are now only available in huge industrial sizes and are continuously out of the 8 and 16oz size bottles. Now you must order 25 pounds starting at 6 or 7 hundred dollars, which I feel is because they are selling to major industries now. I call that a "sell out" because they were a company that prided themselves at servicing small businesses and DIYers.(Oh but they will sell you 1/2 oz tiny bottles which are expensive and won't make much at all) I spent thousands of dollars at this company over the years, now I spend zero here just for the principle alone.
Bulk apothecary pulled a classic bait & switch with products. For 3 years we ordered thousands of dollars every month in beeswax to make our products. In 2020 for whatever reason they decided to send a totally different wax than what we had been using, with NO notification. Our production facilities in two different states used this sub. Wax,( I never knew it was different) and SHTF with our products. Melt point was different, color was not stable, peroxide residue on the wax., returns, complaints, and melted products. The problems were many. The SDS didn't even match the product. Had to become a detective to figure out what happened. Now, call to complain and all I get is, yeah, it's hard when we use different suppliers, there's no guarantee which wax you will get. So. Send it back, and they PARTIALLY refund an 1,100.00 Order. After 3 years, thousands I'd dollars purchased every month? Nope, they lost our business for good. Not only is this bad customer service, it's dangerous if you are formulating products for customers; and you can't be sure if the purity of ingredients. Businesses owners beware.
I spend thousands of dollars with them and I am transitioning as much of business to another supplier. I placed an order in August, they waited 2 weeks to ship, it came in and I found out 2 items were backordered. The most critical item (patchouli oil) they said would ship by mid-september, and I quote "any day now". Come end of September, I email again and am again told it is in house and will ship in 2-3 days. 2.5 weeks later I call. They say that they didn't have enough to fill their backorders! Looks like mid-October. This is not a good way to run a business. I understand being out of stock but the constant lies make my business suffer. I am avoiding them as much as I can now.
