Right. Used Bordelinx UK on a number of occasions and the service has progressively gone from poor to pathetic. Purchased a bottle of fertilizer from Amazon and this was apparently delivered in a plastic bag and in perfect conditions to Borderlinx UK.
The item was then placed in a plastic DHL envelope by Bordelinx and shipped to Singapore. Needless to say that I received the bottle without contents.
Complained with Bordelinx and after a few weeks I receive this sad sad sad reply
I am writing in relation to your claim for the shipment, regrettably, damaged in transit under the above Waybill number.
Our records indicate that, on this occasion, the packaging of your shipment was not sufficient to protect your consignment from the rigors of road and air transportation; therefore, with regret, in line with the clause 12* of the DHL Express carriage terms, we are unable to accept your claim in relation to this consignment.

I've ordered good for 45 USD, then the package, which was less than 1kg was classified as a 3.5 kg package. There is no point checking the shipping calculator, because the truth is far from it. They won't repackage the items... At the end shipping this to Hungary was 90 USD. This is twice the price of the goods. I've contacted customer service and they are basically useless.
When I said, I am thinking of returning the items, they said that the cost will be 20 USD admin fee+ 15USD shipping fee.
Please note that tracked USP shipping cost for the good was 3 USD and I can prove this.
This was the first and last time I used Borderlinx.

Borderlinx support is one of the worst support service and they try to wash their hands of even if they are at fault. Even if you send them a mail on the claims with pictures and everything still they try to wash of their hands citing the original shipper issue. What a crap service. They need to own their trash if they are Bad. Guys be careful with this Shipper.
Hello Selvam, Its sad to know your claim issue was not handled to your satisfaction. All such cases are handled promptly and as per the T&Cs that you agree to during time of registration. For me, I'm one to try all options, a little disappointed in the way they "offer to repack" orders to lesson the cost. Honestly it has nothing to do with DHL. I spoke with the rep from borderlinx, he insisted that due to "company policy" even though, every item is from different stores, he ensured me that each item is to be individually packaged. Not one to split hairs, so paid the s&h fee, the part I do enjoy is, everything shows up at one time. Since I let Borderlinx do what they think is "company Policy", I'm going to do what I can about changing the way Borderlinx handles their S&H. I'm an environmentalist when it comes to excessive garbage. The part I'm enjoying is "everything is on hold till you release the shipment" they did not in fact say, who/what/why/where/when/how. As far as I'm concerned is the company Borderlinx is, considered a "transfer point" kinda like a bus station. Their job is to make sure nothing illegal enters the country, or is being exported from the country. They cover all angles in regarding the conversion rates, the measurements, the weight and the taxes are covered. So for me, what I have been told, their is no taxes on anything over $20/US. Regardless on how many outlets I'm shopping from. I'm working well within their "company Policy", I'm a little uncomfortable with their S&H, since no one in the company speaks proper english, I can only assume their morals will follow suite. Not going to send in a complaint, I'm just going to send a copy to my lawyer and have a 2nd opinion from another lawyer, on this matter. For me I have saved all transactions, all emails everything. If they refuse my service, it's also considered "discrimination" on their behalf. Something just doesn't feel right so I'm going to tear it down;-) "Have a great weekend;-)"
Hello Dwayne, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We always try to reduce the shipping cost for you to make your shopping experience more meaningful. We reduce the individual size of the package, wherever possible, as the dimensions of the package do affect the international shipping fee (refer volumetric weight - http://www.borderlinx.com/en/pages/faq/volumetric-weight).
Additionally, you can save a lot on the shipping cost by consolidating multiple shipments. Consolidation is the process of combining multiple packages in order to release them together. This does not mean that the goods will be repacked in one single box which is something we don't do due to problems with invoicing, safety of items etc... By consolidating your shipments, all your packages will be shipped out at the same time and forwarded under the same tracking number, but delivered in their original packages.

I bought few goods from Amazon US with total cost of 230 $. I assumed Borderlinx would be reasonable when we consolidate the shipments together. Borderlinx alerted me on mail as soon as my shipments were received by them in US. While shipping to my country India I have given 3 options for shipping charges - standard, express and express with duty+tax paid. All have increasing shipping cost.
I assumed express service with duty+tax paid will everything included - means additional charges that without duty-tax paid are for duty+tax. Delivery time for both express services are same.
While making payment the charges displayed was 200$ when I was about to make card payment. However car was debited by 340 $. Site never indicated this amount.
Receipt for duty+tax will be by DHL which is actually suppose to be by customes. Duty+tax charges are apart but additional 50$ for this kind of express service is for documentation.
Since delivery time is same, I would have opt for express service without duty and paid duty at my door step to DHL.
The most ridiculous part of service is you can't revert the options or review the deal with Borderlinx. Customer care person was adamant and asked me for the screen shot proofs of the options.
So, this is my first and last service from Borderlinx. Better to opt delivery directly from seller sites.

We ensure all cost applicable are shown during shipment release in your account, and it'll reflect the total fees in one page before you run the card. There is absolutely no hidden charges beside what you see in your account.
We were unable to cancel your order to change the shipping option as the order was already paid and released by you. As we alert our customers with a note during time of shipment release, changes are not feasible after the shipment release.

Had two shipments from this company. First one, they lost one of my things, told me that it wasn't their fault, finally accepted it was their fault and then have been "investigating the issue" for the last (nearly) month.
Second shipment, they grossly overcharged me for the tax and customs. I accept that I should have checked more thoroughly but there we go. The customer service rep lied to me repeatedly, and then when I pointed out the lies tried to cover up those lies with more lies. Didn't receive invoice. Received invoice but had to estimate value anyway. Said they sent me an email to check the estimated value and amend if necessary. Oh, they didn't send the email? Well then I should have checked it myself because I should have known that the value was estimated.
Could not be more disgusted by this company's attitude. Steer WELL clear.

In the event a shipment is delivered at our warehouse without the invoice or this is not visible, our warehouse has to estimate the value of the items. I used Borderlinx once I really needed a laptop from Amazon US. The shipping cost calculator estimation was 90% correct and I kept contacting them through chat asking for everything as my first time using such a service the agents were really helpful and patient. I got my laptop in Egypt within 10 days since I placed my order with Amazon.
The shipping charge said there will be no additional charges other than the shown price $44 USD of my item (pair of runners) then chaged me additional $30 USD as "tax" and "duty". I paid for the tax when I purchased the shoes and the listed shipping cost was supposed to include the additional charges, but it charged me for taxes and duty again. I feel ripped off. Won't use them again.
Hello Nathaniel, Appreciate the feedback but there is apparently a confusion. The tax you pay to seller/merchant is a local tax. When you ship from Borderlinx, you're required to pay the import duty/tax as applicable per the customs of your country. This is different then the local sales tax you pay to the seller/merchant.
The duty/taxes we pre-charge is handed over to customs during clearance of the items which we do it on your behalf. This is to ensure a more hassle free and enjoyable shopping experience to you.
Additionally, our cost calculator given on the website will always estimate the shipping cost including the duty/tax as applicable to your country. We absolutely believe in transparent, fair and prompt service to our customers.

Borderlinx admitted the accusations of cheating and disgraceful act but denied the negligent act.
3D Secure is employed by Citibank to process transactions from 3D Secure Merchants. To be a 3D Secure or non-3D Secure Merchant was entirely a selection by Borderlinx. It was no surprise that an earlier reviewer in this column posted a title "BUNCH OF IDIOTS".
There is no problem at all using the same card to pay for transactions with Amazon and PayPal.
It was a negligence of Borderlinx that they had not informed me about the change of their merchant status and caused my losses.
The title and contents of this review is still true and fair.

At the time I registered as a member, Borderlinx was not a "3D Secure" merchant. Customers were not required to have a mobile phone in order to pay by Citibank credit card.
Used Borderlinx services and paid by Citibank credit card several times with no hassle.
Borderlinx sebsequently participated as a "3D Secure" merchant without notice. Customers are then required to have a mobile phone in order to pay by Citibank credit card.
Having no knowledge of the changes (negligence of Borderlinx), I placed an order as usual and had the order delivered to Borderlinx for shipment. I do not use mobile phone and therefore cannot pay by Citibank credit card any more to release the shipment.
Borderlinx Support suggested me to modify the payment method to PayPal.
I accepted their suggestion, but when I tried to make payment by PayPal, I discovered that the shipping charges for payment via PayPal (US$33 something) was ridiculously higher (more than 40%) than that via Citibank card (US$23 something).
Borderlinx Support insisted that the shipping charges had not changed, but did not allow me to prove the changes.
To prove the changes, I need to modify the payment method from PayPal back to the original Citibank credit card. They said the payment method could modify once only and could not change back.
This is cheating and disgraceful. I wasted my money on the order unreasonably withheld by Borderlinx and wasted my time in negotiating with the unhelpful Borderlinx Support.

Unfortunately, we can't do much about 3D Secure which was employed by your Citibank to enhance online payment security. Borderlinx has nothing to do with it.

One of my best experience with Borderlinx that I ordered a medical kit through Borderlinx. The kit actually had some item that was not allowed to ship across. Instead of simply refusing the whole kit shipment, on my request Borderlinx offered to remove prohibited item and shipped rest of the kit. I am impressed with such a flexible service they have. They might be on costlier side some time but remember... there is DHL behind who is the best to ship your goods... I am really a happy customer and woul highly recommed Borderlinx!
Our family has been getting shipments from the US to Singapore every single month, sometimes more than once a month, for the past three years (well over 50 shipments) and we never got any single incident to report, delivery was always timely.
The amount of negative reviews on the site shocked me and the first thing that crossed my mind was wether some of these were not the making of disgruntled competitors operating a smearing campaign.
So maybe we are an exception…maybe not, in any event Borderlinx's service has been flawless and downright fantastic for the past three years in a row. In fact we switched from another provider (we won't name him) who deserves the negative reviews on this site for its horrible service between the US and Singapore. From the UK or US to other destinations I would not know but to Singapore, just stop thinking and go for Borderlinx.
Misleading "express shipment" method, a dhl rep. Just assured me that they only have one account with them and all that borderlinx does is process the papers faster! Dhl delivery time is the same! They want you to believe that they are shaving a few days while it is actually the same process!
I'm leaving on holiday this Saturday without my new computer because I payed extra for express shipping and it will be delivered in SIX DAYS INSTEAD OF TWO!
Long time customer here, I really felt betrayed.
Back to my old trustworthy service.
Generally a very positive experience with Borderlinx, and I have been using them fairly regularly for more than 5 years: the process is simple, and delivery via DHL is fast and painless (with the caveat that I live in Hong Kong which a) serves as a distribution hub for the rest of Asia so things tend to arrive very quickly; b) does not have import duties or a difficult customs regime). The few times I've had issues (e.g., with a shipment getting lost in their warehouse) they have generally been resolved quickly and successfully. The only downside to this great service is that it can be pricy, and they could perhaps do a bit more to improve the efficiency of shipments and thereby lower the cost--still, when you consider what you're getting, the price is not unreasonable, and I have the comfort of knowing that my goods will arrive quickly and in good condition.
I'm surprised by the negative reviews on this site; while some of them deal with situations I haven't encountered (e.g., fraudulently ordered goods) I suspect most of them stem from: a) people not having read the terms and understanding what they're getting themselves into; b) people not having previously encountered the expense and complication of global fulfilment; c) people expecting the same painless service they would get ordering in the US from Amazon. Newsflash: shipping one-off items globally via air freight is both expensive and complicated, and you have to expect to pay up and sometimes encounter problems. I think that if you start with this knowledge and reasonable expectations, you'll have a very satisfactory experience. (I did get hit with their $5/day storage fee once, but I only have myself to blame for that--I received clear warnings on multiple occasions, so I don't criticise them.)
Really frustrating organisation. When a stolen credit card was used to order goods they refused to return the goods. Probably looking to resell them. Had to call the Police to rectify the matter. Absolute disgrace. Still haven't got the stolen goods back. WASTE OF TIME COMPANY. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

This is the first time we have purchased on-line and we will do it again. II had never done it because we found some difficulties in paying to the sellers... some of them never accept our UK card. We learnt about the concierge service that borderlinx offers and decided to give it a try. I sent them the info they needed to buy the items we wanted and in less than a week they informed me that they had received the shipment and I had to pay. It is not cheap but it is no expensive if we take into account the quality of the service. In 3 days we got the clothes! We are planning to purchases again, and we will definitely use Borderlinx.
Have been using Borderlinx for sometime now and never been disappointed so far. They have actually exceeded my expectation considering that its across the border shopping with customs clearance issues. Till date everything has been so smooth. Simply love them. Highly recommended for those wanting to buy small items from US & UK. Lately they opened warehouses in Hong Kong & Germany though yet to try them.

I used Borderlinx to purchase a small item (a drip tip for vaping use) from a USA vendor, as he didn't ship to Ireland. This item is no more than 1/2 an inch (square) in size, weighs less than 1/4 oz. The item cost me $21.95, plus $3.50 for shipping in USA.
Borderlinx charged me $24 for shipping, PLUS $10 in tax. AS I didn't buy the item from them, and the vendor has his own sales tax liability, I really can't see how $10 is justified. I also can't see how $24 is justified.
The site had a shipping fee extimator, which didn't give me any hint my item would be so costly to ship, or I'd never have bought it, or at least not used them. I think this is disgraceful. Caveat Emptor.

The shipping cost is based on the weight of your shipment- dead weight or the volumetric weight, whichever is the heavier. This is as per the standard for Air freight transport regulations. Shipping cost is not based on the value of the item as you might think.
Due to the handling cost associated with Express Services (which includes courier pickup, customs clearance, and courier delivery), the first half kilo is usually the most costly for the International shipments.
For example, the first half kilo from USA to UK is USD24, however, the incremental half-kilos will cost you USD4 only. Therefore, a 1 kg package will cost you USD28 only in shipping fee.
For that reason, we offer you the consolidation service. Consolidation is the process of combining multiple packages in order to release them together under single tracking number. I had used Borderlinx and paid thousands of dollars for the service and today when I had requested for a waiver for the storage fee which is higher than the cost of my item, it was just flatly denied! What a lousy way of business! WORST SHIPPING SERVICES EVER!
Answer: If you are willing to be ripped off, super expensive charges for bad service, then yes.

Hello Tamas, Thank you for the feedback. The shipment cost can be based on the dead weight or on the volumetric weight, whichever is the greatest. This is due to the standard for Air freight transport which uses volumetric weight which factors in the dimensions on the package as well. As mentioned, the carrier will then take the greatest of the dead weight and the volumetric weight.

Though your shipment dead weight was 1.68kg, the dimensional/volumetric weight was 3.41kg with dimensions 8", 10", 13". Therefore, the calculated weight was correct and the shipping cost applied, which is based on weight, not on the value of the item, is correct. If you input the same information on our online cost calculator, you will get nearly the same result.
The final cost you paid was inclusive of import duty/tax to your country, and Borderlinx handled the documentations and clearance process on your behalf.
Additionally, our service is primarily to forward shipments from US/UK to your country address. We have the return policy for shipping items from our warehouse back to merchants incase of exceptions only. Due to cost of maintenance and manpower there is a handling fee of USD20, however, the shipping fee is not charged if you can provide a return prepaid label or arrange a pickup.
