Borderfree Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to severe delays in order fulfillment and inadequate customer support. Many customers report frustrations over unresponsive communication channels and unresolved issues regarding refunds and returns. While some express appreciation for the products themselves, these positive sentiments are overshadowed by the overall negative experience with shipping services, particularly through Borderfree. The recurring theme of poor service and lack of accountability suggests a pressing need for the company to enhance its customer service approach and streamline its order processing to rebuild trust and improve customer satisfaction.

I have received my order from DXL through Borderfree and the sizes were not correct. Since then I have been trying to get instructions from Borderfree on how to return this order. For 10 days and several back and forth emails, Im still waiting for the instructions, how hard can it be to tell me where to send the order?
I will never again buy from an store that is delivered or have to be returned by Borderfree.
If I could give less than 1 star, I would have.

Very slow.
March 17, 2017

I've waited a while for my package, I use to order shirts online, and get them in 5 days max, now with borderfree, I have to wait ten years for them to even contact me saying they got my product, so they can ship it. A real shame to be honest, it's very slow. If you're looking for a product to be shipped fast, you're still looking at around a month or 3 weeks.

Awful
March 15, 2017

I have ordered something from the store in the UK to be delivered in Croatia, and they have actually lost my package. I frequently shop online and never have something like this happen before. I will definitely avoid all online stores that use Borderfree as a courier.

They charge you when you are not supposed to be charged total rip off. My order was to replace damaged goods but they are charging me the full price. The Container Store won't help me and that is where I purchased the items from. They are complete rip offs.

I ordered something from Macys.com. It took three weeks to get to Canada from the USA. As soon as I received it I returned it. Borderfree received the item two days after i sent it.

Three weeks later and still no refund!

Totally unacceptable.

We have had the ghastliest experience with Border Free and their international delivery service for American womenswear brand DVF. Both organisations have demonstrated the utmost failings in all aspects of customer service as well as having processed and received payment for an order that was never fulfilled. On 12 December 2016, a purchase was made online through DVF.com in time for a 2016 Christmas gift delivery for my wife. A confirmation email for the purchase was received and a delivery date stated. Nothing turned up in time for Christmas, nor was any communication received from either Borderfree or DVF. One month after the purchase date, we followed up with DVF, who, a few days later, responded to advise that they did not have any information about the order and would follow up with their international logistics partner, Borderfree Inc. Several days passed and it took several more emails to chase them before they finally confirmed that Borderfree were unable to fulfil the order and therefore had cancelled it in their system. Long story short, 50+ emails later and they have still not processed a refund. Payment was made using a debit card, which meant that funds were physically transferred to Borderfree/DVF at point of purchase. Despite explaining this, providing them with evidence (bank statement) they are taking no responsibility nor approaching this with any decency and issuing a refund of funds that have physically left our bank account. Moreover, DVF.com, with whom the purchase was made, continue to defer to Borderfree Inc. and attempt to absolve themselves of any responsibility. The disappointment of a botched up Christmas gift attempt behind us, this has become a ridiculous state of affairs as we are left out of pocket and with a long trail of emails between the two parties who are no closer to providing a solution. It seems that such experiences are more and more commonplace with Borderfree.

I ordered a Patagonia bag to be sent to Thailand from eBags. This was the first time using the Borderfree service. Initially, aside from the initial receipt of order by ebags there was no communication for about 6 days. Then I was notified that it was shipped to Borderfree. Once at at their facility I was given constant updates via DHL tracker. The bag arrived ahead of time by a couple of days. I would use the service again. Aside from the initial quiet time everything was processed smoothly...I will use them again.

Target International
January 12, 2017

I was excited to get things from abroad using Target as a first experience. Everything was fine and said it shipped then I got emails saying they tried to charge my account twice for items I already paid for which cost me nearly 100 euro to begin with. I called borderfree for an hour no one answered I emailed them no reply I called Target and got someone who could barely speak english and after taking all my information told me to call borderfree then hung up on me what a waste of my time and money now I don't know if my items are going to come and if I should report borderfree to my bank as being fraudulent by trying to access funds they aren't worthy of since I paid already. I will not be using Target again and would rather shop at walmart online if they had online services which says a lot since I strongly dislike them as a company, avoid at all costs unless you like being scammed.

Worst online experience ever! Ordered from Uncommon Goods using BorderFree in mid-December and it is January 11 yet no sign of the items. They are now sitting two provinces away and haven't moved for 3 business days. Customer Service at both companies are zero help, "the items are on their way". Will return the items and never shop at Uncommon Goods or BorderFree again. Stay away!

Nightmare
January 8, 2017

Ordered a wedding dress online that was never shipped (despite many interactions with customer service who insisted it would arrive on time) ended up having to buy off the rack 2 weeks before my wedding with no time for alterations. Swore I'd NEVER use Borderfree again. Recently placed an order online with Target. Ordered 6 items (all in stock) paid all duties and taxes up front and paid extra for 3-5 day shipping. I didn't realize they use Borderfree to ship; should have cancelled right away, but decided to give them a second chance. So far 2 separate orders have shipped with 5/6 items (still no word on 6th), nothing has been delivered, and we're at day 15. Delivery date is in a week. No discount offered for not honouring the 3-5 day shipping that was paid for. 2 separate charges on credit card for 2 shipments which has added $20 to the original price and still one item hasn't been accounted for. I will NEVER shop with a company who ships with Borderfree again. These companies need to take more responsibility for what the third party shipper is doing. Unreal. Complete nightmare.

They take their sweet time to ship you stuff, however when it comes to the returns then they charge their customers with next day delivery. Ordered 6 items from Ann Taylor revived it in 3 different packages within 3 week time frame. I honestly forgot about stuff I ordered as I received last piece of my order after 3 1/2 weeks (almost a month).

Never shopping with Ann Taylor (they are bunch of idiots to when it comes to customer service) and/or company using Boderfree services. Save your time, energy and money. SHOP LOCAL.

I have made regular Saks purchases through Borderfree and every time I use a valid international promo code during sales times, there is an email that bounces back about three weeks later saying the order can't be fulfilled. You will get a confirm from Saks and Borderfree and they will do a pre-authorisation on the account... but if the deal/price is too good Saks will not fulfil the order and you will get an email blame it on a processing error. By that time the item has sold out so there isn't anything Saks/you can do about it. This is not an anomaly, it has happened at least four times to me on sale items. Buyers beware... prepare to be disappointed and that that great deal on that bag probably is too good to be true.

I haven't had a lot of experience using borderfree in the past but the couple of experiences i have with them hasn't been great. My first experience was about a year ago when sephora used them as their shipping hub to international orders to canada. I ordered multiple products gave my address and they couldn't find my address and automatically kept sending my items back. Even though i live in one of the biggest canadian cities and live in a very popular street. Recently i wanted to order some holiday stuff via target and their international retail shipping service is borderfree so i thought i would give them another chance. Even though i spent more for guaranteed shipping in 3 days it took them 2 weeks to ship my items. They duplicated items that i didn't order and charged my credit card for these items. When i checked their return policy there is no return policy available. I do not think borderfree is worth it and would not recommend it to anybody. Please be very wary when choosing border free for yourself and if you decide to use them realize it will take four times the time to get your items.

Make an online purchase. Get charged a pre-authorisation of $350. Then get an email saying clothes on the way. 4 days later I check my account - Borderfree have charged me again. Emptied my account in the process of moving home from overseas. Couldn't afford my cab to airport - miss my flight. They email me telling me they're trying to charge my card and my goods won't ship until they do. I called customer service. She told me to pay and send the items back for a refund. I refused and she (Katherine Herrera) hung up on me. I have $700 in charges for a $350 order - with 1 of 4 pieces in transit. Bank won't release the authorisation. Borderfree want their money and won't refund me the second payment, or send the goods or release the pre-authorisation.

This has been the most awful experience online - Do not use Borderfree. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER IT.

I ordered a hat from Woolrich/Borderfree. The shipping was CDN$6.99. The hat was a poor fit so I asked for a return. Borderfree return shipping was one-day DHL return shipping costing CDN$36.74, deducted from the refund. Borderfree sent an acknowledgement that they received the hat and the refund would be credited to my credit card. No credit was returned. I waited two weeks in vain for the refund before I sent a query. Borderfree never replied. I lost my refund and Woolrich lost another customer.

I ordered two dressed from Adriana Papelle, which uses Borderfree, on 30 October 2016.
I received confirmation my order was being 'processed', and then four or five days later the price being held on my credit card reduced - it turns out one dress has been cancelled, but I still haven't been told that by Borderfree or Adriana Papelle (who email said that two dresses were shipped). The price for the dress that arrived was originally $160, but $189 + shipping was charged in the end. Why the extra $29? No explanation.

The dress I wanted the most arrived today (17 November). The packaging was appropriate for the quality of the dress (beaded and fragile). It was beautiful (but for her dresses select a size down, it is a bit big). I assume the other dress is never coming (but was listed on the receipt I received with the package).

I would think twice before using Borderfree again, and I will pay more attention to the use of third parties to ship in the future based on their poor communication and the strange price change in the dress without authorisation.
