Warning stay away
After reading so many negative reviews I felt I have to leave mine too. I have ordered a few times from USA sites (I am in the UK) and every time items were shipped using Borderfree. I have used Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and now Saks (I placed an order yesterday). I assume it depends on the shop you are dealing with and placing an order with rather than Borderfree.
I placed an online order a month ago at Target and they use Borderfree to ship to Canada. The estimated shipping speed was 10-15 business days. I received confirmation of the order and the items were expected to ship out in 5-6 business days, according to the email and that I would receive another email once they shipped. I waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, I called their customer service line today and spoke with a representative who told me that my items "got lost at the international hub" and that, since they got lost, they had no way of shipping them to me. Wait, what? First off, when was anyone planning to inform me of this? Second, is there REALLY no way to rectify this? Like, say, SEND A NEW SHIPMENT? There was barely an apology and she didn't offer anything aside from giving me a refund which, frankly, should be expected if they're simply going to give up on sending me my package!
Bottom line, I would avoid shopping online anywhere that uses Borderfree. I love Target, but I will not be shopping online with them again.

That it takes long to ship something from A to B, that I can understand. But why does it take such a long time to even BEGIN the shipping?! For almost 50 euro for shipping a jacket it should be possible to work a little faster!
I felt like I should do a good review here as I saw all the bad ones and was all worried about my order. I had made the order, then looked at reviews afterwards and was like, oh man, what have I done? But honestly, I had a very good experience. I ordered two awesome bracelets from Nordstrom in the US,. Shipped to Canada. $350. No hidden costs, no delays. Came as expected. Great product, no hastles. I wouldn't be too worried about dealing with these guys. It's important to remember they ship thousands and thousands of items with no issues, statistically there are always going to be issues at the border which delay shipments once in a while and there are statistically always going to be people who are dissatisfied with things no matter what.
Recently needed to return some items to the USA. On enquiry, even though my items had be sent to me by post satchel, and arrived in perfect condition, Borderfree required that they be couriered back. This would have been outrageously expensive approximately AUD50! Postage to me was only AUD14. Very unreasonable.
I made an order for Nine West shoes and realised on the same day they had the exact 2 same models, with a different heel hight. I have a foot condition and cannot wear high heals so asked for a cancellation - on the same day. This is required to be allowed within the EU within 14 days, and is part of Borderfree's terms and conditions. When contacting them, I was at multiple occasions sent to Nine West (who by the way never bothered to respond), with a one liner that they couldn't help me. When I insisted and referred to the terms and conditions, they said they would try to intercept the goods and have them sent back, and that I would get a complete refund. I was then told that this could not happen, with a reminder that I could refuse the delivery if I didn't want the goods. I cannot get them to respond when I ask if I would get refunded. It is costly to send them back (and of course could have been avoided) and I don't want to incur more costs for nothing. And of course this is all nicely done so that the 14 days expire.
I have received a the shoes have now arrived and need to be collected. I am going to the French Institut National de la Consommation / US bureau of consumer protection if I don't get a reaponse withn 24h. It may not sort out my issue but companies that play with basic customer rights need to be flagged and ultimately taken out of business.
I recently used Borderfree for the first time and I think it's important to note a few things about the service. It's operated as a brand of Pitney Bowes, which is a global leader in logistics. If you've ever made a purchase on ebay from a foreign seller using ebay's international forwarding service then you have already dealt with this company.
I was not double-charged as others here report. But to some people it may appear so. For some reason I don't understand, American companies often put a hold on funds for purchases at the time of purchase, and then deduct the actual funds at a later point in time. This is also how Borderfree appears to have handled my order. When I placed my order, they "reserved" the entire amount and then actually charged my card for each individual shipment. I was not double-charged, however and the initial hold never actually appeared on my card.
Tracking was acceptable, but I think the company could do a better job of explaining the process. As far as I can tell, your order is shipped to them, they ensure that everything is there and document it for customs, then forward it. Pricing is a little too high in my opinion, but it could be worse.
A few other things that could be improved:
- Borderfree purchasing page on Target is painfully basic and slow. Many items say available for shipping in search results but are not when you visit their their individual page. You can workaround this by putting them in your cart directly from the search list.
- Promotional codes do not work. Even the codes shown specifically for borderfree did not work for me.
- Price could be lower. I feel Borderfree is making a lot of money from this.
We have placed two orders from Macy's using borderfree and both have arrived but took up to 4 weeks. They basically charge 15% of value of order for delivery and for that you get the cheapest and slowest available method. Given my delivery cost on last order was $60 I expected a week delivery and it took 4 weeks. One week to be received at there warehouse and be shipped and then 3 more weeks to arrive. It is ok but expensive for what you get. I have paid $40 delivery for bigger parcel and had it arrive in 4 days from us. It is a cheap way to shop if you can wait weeks for order. Tracking is also hopeless as it only updates every week or two sometimes. I had one item say it was in New York and it was delivered before it was updated on web.
I tried to return some jeans that i bought from true religion usa. The email addresses from true religion are incorrect and borderfree is just giving me excuses. They are waiting for returning papers from true religion and so on. I tried to return them now for 4 weeks without success
I had ordered a dress from Dillards website located in USA to ship in Tasmania-Australia and had paid AUD$50 Express Delivery, 7-12 business days. Arrived way later than that...
I had contacted the customer service who wouldn't believe me because their tracking system showed a delivery attempt failed (during the right time frame) in a location in Australia different from the actual destination address. I had to tell them to use a bit of good sense and their brain to make them understand, I had to re explain my case about 4time to 4 different people to every email during 2 weeks...
No refund possible. That's what it is.
Eventually they understood they screwed up and that their tracking services is not very good, although there are not answering any emails anymore now...
Definitely not worth it for $55...
These people are disgusting. I stopped shopping at target because they use borderfree and now Ulta does too? Horrible company who charges $45 for duties and taxes when there isn't even duty on makeup. Even if it was coming from China $100 would equal $5 duty. But coming from the US nothing, and they're charging $45. Boycott anything that uses this horrible company. Wish I could rate it 0.
Odered parts from Motosport MX for our bikes. This was handeled by borderfree. Motosport deducted from the credit card once and borderfree 8 times for the same item. Card was cancelled since they were deducting the amount everyday. Never order again.
They are so cruel they put so much money for unnecessary things like shipping should and DOES NOT cost $30 DAMN DOLLARS! I am never using border free AGAIN!

Stones on front with straps have been sent to me. The box is of Soul brand of naturalizer.
This needs to be corrected and the correct product needs to be delivered to me immediately. If you dont resolve this, I will initiate legal action.

I don't usually do reviews however I felt this one might be necessary. I just recently came to the UAE from the US and realized that there are a few things taken for granted at home that I usually use but have no access to those same things. I found out through Target's website that I could order from them and have my items shipped through Borderfree. Of course, I read all of the horrible reviews from previous users and was skeptical about ordering, but Borderfree was the only delivery option. I placed my order on Saturday and hoped for the best. Not only did I receive daily emails about the status of my shipment, I also received an email regarding when it would be delivered as well as the email saying it was delivered (on Wednesday). I don't know if customer service has improved dramatically from the previous bad reviews, but Borderfree definitely gets two thumbs up from me! I would absolutely use them again if I need to order something else without hesitation.
Bought a large 3ft fairly heavy trunk from ebags.com via borderfree. Wondered if the free delivery offer would be honoured - from USA to Australia on a heavy item was approx $200 freight. But within 10 days I received the trunk via DHL couriers and there were no extra charges for duty or taxes and Yes got the delivery free! SUPER HAPPY!
I still haven't received my order, three weeks after ordering. It took two weeks to dispatch. I e-mailed the customer service to cancel my order a week and a half after placing it, as it wouldn't arrive on time. No response to my e-mail, no acknowledgement. The good have been dispatched eventually, still waiting for them to arrive. Never again.
