The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

Booking.com was resposible for us loosing R6000+ because the resort was nothing as advertised. Also this resort, Umhlanga Cabanas does not accommodate customers as it dies not give any money back if booking is cancelled within 30 days of your stay... in a PANDEMIC!, and Booking.com is of no help but are actually the cause of the problem because of their misleading web info regarding the resorts... look at the bad reviews Umhlanga Cabanas got but it is still an option on Booking.com... we are very unhappy about loosing all our money and will discourage all to not ever use Booking.com or Umhlanga Cabanas
Horrible company, I rent a car, but wasn't able to get the car, I called costumer service many times they never pick up the phone, I emailed them multiple times they never answered. Company exist when you purchase they charge you in a second but if they have to refund you or you have a problem, the cpany doesn't exist. It's totally scam.
With a week to go booking.com and Manhattan New York city kept the $500 I paid citing the "policy". This is terrible customer service and I'll never use them again.
I made it to the hotel Ramada Inn by airport and the reservation was not done. After driving 10 hours, I needed to wait over an hour to reach someone at customer service, then it took another 25 minutes for that person to reach out to the hotel and make the reservation. Alejandro at the Front desk show me when they made the reservation and then confirmation number came up, for him to give me the key. With all the others sites available, I advise everyone to stay far from booking. Com.
I bought a return flight Amsterdam- Ho Chi Minh via Booking.com.
Part of my return flight was cancelled 10 day before the departure to Vietnam…
The alternative offered was with 3 days stop in Bangkok. But due to visa / covid restrictions I would have had to stay 3 days in quarantine hotel. So really not an option for me.
I called booking CS to solve this issue. Booking.com CS seemed to be in India. Very difficult to understand and pretty bossy.
They mentioned that either I should take the alternative or cancel the flight. And buy something else (10 days before departure time…!)
As they mention that they was no other option I told them to cancel.
After that I called directly Swiss air, the company that cancelled part of my return flight. The person on the phone was very helpful and found another plane the same day (so no 3 day stop in Bangkok). They told me to call back booking and explain them. I did it but booking told me that it was too late because I told them to cancel my flight 20min earlier… I tried to explain that I decided to cancel because I was told that they was no other options, which was not true information. But they did not want to hear anything. So I had to accept it and I bought another return flight via another website (which cost me 300€ more because i was the. Buying my flight last minute!).
Short after I received an email telling me that the company (Swiss air) a had refunded Booking and that I should receive the money on my account "in few days". It was a month ago and I still haven't received nothing!
Really terrible experience.
I was told I needed to cancel the day of my check in due to the fact that I wasn't 25 years old. I wasn't given a full refund and the customer service backing up their decision was rude and avoided answering my specific questions regarding cancellation penalties. Personally I don't recommend booking with this company because they weren't considerate and fair with my cancellation.
This company is awful. I went through them to get a hotel. I was not familiar with the location. Once I got to the hotel it was not fit for a animal to stay in, yet alone and adult. I attempted to go to cancel and informed them this was not advertised. They gave me booking.com number to call to cancel and to get a refund. So I attempted the call the lady was typing to help me cancel and to received a refund but I did not have my laptop. So I informed her I would call back when I got to my computer-it was documented. I call back once I got home a few days later. A new rep tells me no refund per policy. I was like could I get a credit and they told me no. I ask to speak to a supervisor and she was really nasty and refused to help. Please do not waste your time or your money. They will let you book just to receive money this company do not care about the customers.
I booked a rental car through the website. My flight to MIA was delayed and I landed a little after midnight. When I arrived to the rental car co they were closed. I had to pay over double for a rental car co that was open. I attempted to call them and the wait times were ridiculous (the following day). I was not going to spend my vacation trying to deal with it, so when I got home I called. They said I needed to email, which I did. I didn't hear anything back so I contacted my financial institute and disputed the charges. Booking.com responded to my CC and said I am not eligible for a refund. I am upset I didn't read these reviews before choosing them! DO NOT USE THIS CO THEY ARE A SCAM!
Friendly staff & excellent breakfast & evening meal menu.
This hotel. Was built in 1880 & is centrally located, so you can walk to Fitzpark; the river walk & the centre of Keswick in a few minutes. The hotel is quirky, very clean and bright, but has no lift. Small car park, only for 5 cars, so first come, first served but a bus stop very nearby.
I booked an hotel in March and had an issue. They canceled my payment as they gave me the room for the night. The payment was made weeks in advanced through booking. Needless to say, booking has not released my funds, even though they have spoken with several managers from the facility approving the refund. It is now 3 months later. Still no refund and they keep saying they have to speak with someone from the hotel. Even though they have received an email from the general manager. Run far away because I'm they keep your money if you get refunded.
Booked airfare on the site. Purchased the insurance which stated I could change or cancel my flight if necessary. A military graduation was rescheduled and we are going to drive rather than fly. Called 4 times to cancel the flight. Twice, the call was picked up and no one was there. Twice an "agent" anwered and told me someone would call me within the hour to discuss the cancelation. I've been waiting 4 hours since the first call and an hour since the second call. No one calls back. Was told insurance is only good if the airline makes the change or cancels my flight. "Agents" speak extremely broken English, refuse to transfer to a supervisor, refuse to provide the contact information required to contact the "insurance" company. Horrendous service. From now on, I will use to find suitable hotels, flights, etc and book directly with the provider. WOW did I learn my lesson. NEVER AGAIN!
When double billed, they and the property just pass the buck. Their slow, shifting responses are not trust worthy. Major rip-off on exchange rates. They offer to answer your questions and then ignore your questions and re-offer to answer your questions. There has got to be an alternative to these cons and their sister companies.
I've been asking for someone to contact me and no contact has been made. This has been 10months on going, calling there NZ contact number and they hang up after saying "I will transfer you" or just end call whilst in the process of waiting for someone to answer. I've given up on Booking.com!
Since March I have been calling booking.com have talked to 4 different people asked to talk to supervisor and one is never available. I call and booking.com tells me that the hotel has not responded I called the hotel and the hotel says they have. Finally the hotel send me what they sent booking.com. booking.com will not accept that from me. They say it has to come from the hotel. This is what happened I booked a room through booking.com the first hotel's pool was under construction. I booked another room within 2 minutes arrived at the new hotel and found that they did not have an indoor pool only an outdoor pool.
So booked a 3rd room.( had pool, stayed there) Both of these hotels waived the reservation fee. Yet booking.com charge me $216. They say it's because the hotel didn't waive fee. I got the wavier the hotel sent to booking.com, but booking.com will not except that from me they want it from the hotel. My credit card statement says booking.com took the money not the hotel I have been with booking.com for more 7 years + I have booked well over 200 hotel rooms with them. I understand that I could look at it both ways. "Over there 200 hotel reservations and only one problem not too bad" or I I have booked over 200 hotel rooms and we are going to to treat me this way. I have not use booking.com since March and encouraged my friends and family to try Priceline.com. Way to treat you customers booking.com hope it is worth for $216.
I tried to cancel a reservation 2 minutes after booking due to an error. They said they'd have to charge me close to $2,000 on a $3,000 reservation. Days later I'm still dealing with this. I suggest going directly to hotel for reservations or travel. This has been horrible. They have been awful.
I booked a supposed to be apartment with amenities. Ger an email an hour before my arrival informing me that the key to get onto the property would be on a service station lot across the street on a pole in a lockbox. Sent a picture of this naked pole with nothing on it. Scam but Booking.com refused to return my money saying they were in contact with this scammer and they couldn't return my money because the scammer said they reserved this spot for me although there was no key or anything to even get on the property let alone into the building. Had to dispute it with my bank. Crooks. Do not use these A holes. The picture below is where the key was supposed to be. They received the same picture but swear the couldn't tell if there wasn't a ace for a key on this pole. $800+ and they tried to refund me a $133. Please.
If you book here…. You are gambling. I am in Italy, with a confirmation from a property where no one answers the phone and booking.com customer service does not exist. I will be placing a claim for a refund on my credit card as this "non existent property" is non refundable.
TOTAL SCAM
I had the worst experience with booking.com. First of, I made a reservation for the month ahead and cancelled the reservation on the same day because I realized a book a hotel that is in wrong city. Booking.com automatically charged my credit card for 1 night for 2 rooms. I haven't trying to contact them and asked them if I could it refunded and use that money to rebook for another reservation but booking.com said because it's a NO CANCELLATION /NO REFUND POLICY, they have to abide by the rule. I mean there was no consideration there, it's not like I cancelled few days before my arrival but I cancelled a month before and on the same day that I made the reservation. Booking.com is a big scam. They just want to make money and not help their members. I would not make any reservations here! Money takers!
I selected Booking.com in order to purchase flights for 2 small Ukrainian families. Their current situation is critical and booking flights to get them to safety involves precise planning and details all need to be in order. I really made a BAD choice using booking.com for it took 7 attempts in total, and 15 hours later, still no flights for the families using this website. Customer service agents each time, all had the same rehearsed story about what I needed to do to get flights booked, and each time it was a failure. Service agents, do not speak very good English and they are very hard to understand. Also each time the booking failed, the price kept increasing to the point where it was ridiculously unaffordable. When I explained that I had called 5,6, or 7 times, they cut me off, for listening to what I had to say was not part of what they have rehearsed to say. Booking. Bomb
My booking was fully paid and confirmed. I have emails and screenshots confirming this.
Booking.com contacted me to ask me to pay another 900 EURO towards the booking. I disputed this. They informed that they can change the rates whenever they like, even when my booking was already fully paid.
They forced cancellation of my booking without my permission and didn't inform me until after a refund was made. They refuse to assist with finding alternative accommodation and their customer service team are not helpful at all.
Every single answer I have received is a copy-paste answer from some Philippines service centre and you can tell the customer comes last in every reply they send.
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
