The booking system works well enough and the rates are comparable to Expedia.com. Hotel.com etc... However, they lure you in with better rates for prepaid non-cancelable bookings. The claim to offer a price match guarantee in order to offer peace of mind when booking non-cancelable stays. The problem is that the "price match guarantee" is a total scam. The make you jump through hoops to claim a price match. Then they take their time to "review" your claim, which they will undoubtedly deny. I booked a Marriot in LA about a month in advance. As the date got closer I found that Expedia offered the same stay for $180 less than I booked on Booking.com. At that point I could have still cancelled without cost, but instead of cancelling I tried to get a price match. I followed the instructions to the T. After they took their time to review the claim the ended up denying the claim for a bogus reason. So I called customer service and showed the agent exactly here Expedia offered the cheaper rate. The agent agreed that I had a valid claim and told me that she would send the information to the price match team and I would hear back from them. In the meantime the free cancellation period with Booking expired. A few days later I received an email once again denying my claim. It wasn't enough money for me to waste my time on the phone for hours again, but I dont appreciate getting scammed. So I posted the review to put others on notice.

As a host that lists our properties on multiple online travel agencies, Booking.com is by far the worst to deal with as both a guest and a host. Their customer service is slow and not helpful. You can easily tell that all of their workers are outsourced and their resolution system is designed to exhaust someone to the point of giving up rather than actually help to resolve the problem.

The worst part of this business model is that a guest will pay a premium to book with them because of their platform fees, but have no one to help them because their expected response time is 2 DAYS, not 2 hours (a far more reasonable response time).

THEY ARE SCAM ARTIST! MY TRIP WAS A DAY AWAY AND I CALLED THE PROPERTY WHERE I WAS GOING TO STAY AND THEY HAD NO RECORD OF MY STAY! I CALLED BOOKING.COM AND ON THEIR END EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND IT SHOWED I DID HAVE A RESERVATION. COME TO FIND OUT THEY WERE NEVER GOING TO CALL ME AND LET ME KNOW THE ACTUAL PROPERTY DENIED MY RESERVATION. LUCKILY MY BANK CANCELLED ANY TYPE OF PAYMENT THEY WERE TRYING TO GET. THE LADY ON BOOKING.COM REALLY SAID "IF THE PROPERTY CANCELS YOUR RESERVATION WE WILL RELOCATE YOU" EXCUSE MEEEE? RELOCATE ME? TO A RANDOM PLACE IVE NEVER SEEN INSTEAD OF THE ACTUAL HOTEL I BOOKED? CRAZY! DO NOT BOOK ON BOOKING.COM

Mis-representation

booking.com mis-represents themselves and make you think they are the actual entity your trying to make reservations with and promise you things they can't and the actual entity will not honor, I would consider it a form of fraud. I would give them less than 1 star if I could. Their business should be shutdown.

Don't Use Them!

This whole entire website is a scam. I used them from Southwest Hotels (who uses booking.com to book the hotel rooms). I tried them twice. First time was in Denver, hotel room was pretty dingy, but I tried to make do. Didn't really look like the pictures. It was only for one night, so I didn't complain. Gave them another chance back in August for a trip to Austin. Ended up canceling that trip due to the extreme heat conditions. Even with the extreme heat conditions and my health conditions (asthma), they refused to fully refund me! Ridiculous! Huge scammers. Will never use them again and will only book through the actual hotel website! I suggest you do the same unless you want to give them your hard earned money for free!

Left me stranded!

This spring I traveled to the Philippines Booking.com showed a flight home for me. I get to the airport and The flight never existed. They then told me I was on my own to find a new connector flight. United told me when I was able to get in touch with them I had to make it to Hong Kong or it would be a week before an available seat. Booking would not give me airline contact, they would do nothing to help me. A very nice lady at United who was not my airline from there searched all other airlines to find me a connector. It was going to be hours before that flight and it was 2 am so I went and got another hotel as I had already checked out of mine. Booking still has refused to reimburse me as I paid cash and had no receipts because I did want to use my credit card in a foreign country. They acknowledge that they put me on a flight that was in their words cancelled. I spoke to the airport security and they said that airline never flies on Sunday! It was not cancelled, it never existed! I still have no reimbursement of anything!

In June I reserved 5 rooms from booking at LA Quinta inn San Marcos for 3 nights. When I checked in I immediately called booking to advise them the rooms was filthy, all the rooms was dusty, had dead bugs, dirty filters, cobwebs, smell, the bathroom was not cleaned with footprints, dirt and one room had blood, the light was broken, towel rack was broken just like a roach motel. I paid $2068 for this. They reach the front desk and said I had to wait till the AM to speak with the manager, and if the hotel don't refund BOOKING will 100% I went down to ask for cleaning supplies which I was told they can't give. Friday AM I showed the front desk receptionist the pictures she told me to email them. I did. I called BOOKING again they said they waiting on a reply from the hotel. I called back BOOKING on Saturday and was told it's the weekend and the hotel has 5 days to respond and if there is no resolution they will take care of it. I called BOOKING the following Thursday I was toldi had to call back Friday since the hotel have not contacted them. Friday AM I called BOOKING again I was told to wait 2 hours and call back. I called BOOKING at 12:15pm and I was told since the hotel refuse to refund they can not do anything. I was like WHAT I MADE MY RESERVATION THROUGH YOU AND PAID BOOKING, they refuse to refund me. I sent them pictures and my conversation with front desk still I was not refunded or offered to move to another hotel. This has been since 07.13.2023 and here we in 08.29.23 and I can not get a refund and LA Quinta Corp said I need to dispute the charge with BOOKING

I submitted pictures of an unsafe hotel on 8/18/23. The hotel confirmed the complaint was forwarded on 8/19/23. Called booking on 8/21/23 3 times. They said they'd contact hotel and reply back to me. On 8/25/23, no response and called again. Again was told they'd contact hotel and if no response I would get my refund 8/28. On 8/29/23, no refund was sent and I called again. Twice put on hold, then was told they would contact the hotel. Unacceptable.I requested a supervisor and was told "it would be awhile". I've already been on hold 30 minutes. Then got hung up on. Where's my refund? Not in my account.

Booking employee contacted me via booking chat on behalf of the hotel I reserved and asked the credit card verification via link. When I wrote complaints they pretended that they investigated. In 1 month I remined booking that I wait the status of investigation. The next step by booking shocked me: they simply deleted all my chats with all hotels, all my complaints history. But they are stupid 9 I made printscreens. They are scammers and fraud creators. I deleted my account on booking after it and do not want to any common deal with them.

I am a genius member of booking.com since many years. I booked a property in Florida recently and when I checked in there. The place was total mess. Cleaning was so badly done. Fridge and other appliances had mold on them. I immediately canceld the booking and moved out because customer service agent promised me that they will work out to get money back because booking policy from owner was not allowing cancellation and they charged almost 50% of 4 nights stay.
After many calls and messages I got no response from customer service and finally decided to delete my account permanently
Another issue is they advertise that genius meme er will get discount on bookings but I fact if you check on google. Price is same for non members

Due to a miss leading mistake by booking.com the reservation was made to this hotel, which have a similar name to another hotel in Venice Center, immediately, within minutes, I canceled the booking, but they refuse to reimburse the money. Hotel Policy! They said. They charged me the hole reservation 160 Euros, just for a booking mistake, cancelled in minutes. Avoid at any cost

Very bad experiences not the first will be our last very dishonest reps. They will tell you one thing to get a sale and its refundable when making plans 2mos in advance not true watch out they take same day out of account then representative sir smith runs away and tells you its non refundable he promised it was only a reservation which he swore to im a disabled grandmother i live on a fixed income I will never trust this co. When there is other reputable company to use...SHAME ON YOU MR.SMITH!

Very poor service

On 2 different nights at hotels we had conf. #s we arrived at the hotels and had to wait 30+ and 45+ l minutes for our reservation to show up on their computers. One time of which I personation had to call Booking. Com in order for our reservation to show up in their system. I will not be recommending them to anyone.

I had a horrible experience recently with booking.com. Booked accommodation - monger taken out of account then an email to say that something had gone wrong on their end and that my money would be refunded within 12 (TWELVE!) working days. Then rebooked at another hotel. When I arrived at the hotel, they informed me that they were overbooked.

On top of this, it has been a nightmare trying to get through to customer service and have a meaningful conversation with someone who can just tell me valid instructions on how to feed this back to them constructively. They seem unwilling to engage!

I reserved a house through booking, and when I showed up, it was a residence with people living in it. Booking.com could not get a hold of the person who made the listing and refused to give me my 300 dollars back because they "never heard back from the owner of the property listed." They reportedly tried for a month and kept telling me their hands were tied until they heard back. HORRIBLE customer service.

Left Stranded

Host cancelled 6 night booking with less than TEN HOURS NOTICE* leaving me, a solo female, stranded in Hull with two dogs and nowhere to go. They then only refunded me £12 retaining the remaining £405 as a "cancellation fee!" Both Booking.com and the host did not reply to messages or emails until I threatened court action and now, over a month later I finally have a promise of refund "within 7 to 10 days. *Less-than Eight hours if you count when I actually saw email!
