The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

I just had the worst experience ever with booking.com and I want to share it with everyone. I booked 2 rooms in 28 of June and suddenly out of the blue, 2 months later I get a message that someone made a mistake and the price that I have to pay for the hotel is 3.5 times more expensive or they will allow me to have free cancellation for a booking that has free cancellation anyway. They even suggested that I should not travel if I can't find another hotel in a price range that works for me... That is a billion dollar company screwing you over...
Booking.com has been stolen my card USD 180 and cancelled my reservation. Please be aware using booking.com website regarding hotel reservation. It's my experience to share with you. Booking.com charged for reservation then cancelled I couldn't get my money back my bank declined to return it because booking.com hold my reservation payment then cancelled my confirmation. Be aware of scammer company.
I booked a flight through booking.com, the confirmation came to my email immediately, I reviewed the confirmation and realized I made an error on the date. I called B.com and cancelled the flight then repurchased the correct flight. I was advised I'd get a full refund and I received a confirmation that I was entitled to a full refund. It's been 30 days and still no refund. I've placed several calls and I get a different answer everytime. When you don't do what you say, it's called a lie.
Just read all the guest reviews about Booking.com and am horrified. I am an owner of 9 rentals on a Private Fishing resort and was trying to list my rentals with them. But I can never get through to an agent at all. Not even to get help re-setting a Password. Now I see how they treat guests. I guess I shouldn't list my properties with them at all. I have now spent 7 days--34 hours--and can't even get through on their International phone lines. I have called about 75 phone numbers now.
No way to contact them. Send them 20 emails and the only answer I had was automatic respond... "we need more information". Sad :((
BE CAREFUL when using the booking service from this website.
When I arrived at the hotel reserved by booking, it was overbooked. I was NOT given the alternative by the booking support staff. They urged me to book other hotels on my own after numerous calls, and they said they would reimburse the difference. They also affirm that there are no price restrictions on the hotels I can book.
However, after I turned in the invoices, they indicated they would only reimburse $25 (instead of $600) because I had made MY OWN reservations for the alternative and would have to pay the remaining amount. I reminded them that, the booking support team asked me to find alternative because they couldn't do it, that's why I must find other alternative by myself, but they ignore their liability.
I requested to speak with the customer compliance agency, and they provided me with the EU commission, which does not assist US clients. They said that Booking is a Dutch-base company, so there are no agencies to protect US customers.
For the protection of its customers, the FTC must investigate this website.
Avoid at all costs!
We booked a property on booking.com in which we had a terrible experience- host coming in unannounced, blaming us for stealing cheap yellow towels, and pushing us physically away from the entrance to check what else we did wrong. We run away as we couldn't tolerate this behavior. After spending 200 eur on calling booking to get reimbursed for the days we were not using, they sent a message to host to ask if they would like to return the money which of course they denied. Rude robots answering phone calls that "automatically" disconnect. We wished we cross checked google reviews for the property as apparently booking doesn't let negative reviews through. Don't use this platform, it won't protect you at all, they only want their commission and have minus level support when you have a dispute, absolutely useless.
We made a reservation for our trip a month before our vacation through Booking.com and canceled the booking through booking.com a week after we booked and booking.com kept our money and still haven't refunded our money back! They keep lying saying the hotel has to refund the money and the hotel keeps saying booking.com has to refund the money! They are liars and I have reported them to the BBB and they are being sued! I had enough of their **! And I will never book through them ever again! We was scammed by them and my lawyer has all their information and putting a lawsuit against them!
Booking.com treats its customers like they are nobody. I rented a room for 3 nights through their website and when I showed up, the room was already occupied. I had to go through over 4 customer service agents and spend well over 3 hours on the phone. I have been told initially that I would get a reimbursement for the total amount of my expense to finally be told that I was supposed to call on the first day to be relocated, therefore I would not get a penny out of them. I have lost not only what I paid through Booking.com $415 but $735 I had to pay over that for 2 hotels we managed to find on our own. And now I am told my file is closed as senior staff refuse to talk to customers, hiding behind their minions. They should be ashamed of how they are treating their customers.
Never will I use this to book a room again. I booked 3 rooms a month ahead with option to cancel and 10 days before my trip I needed to canel one room for 1 night as my quests were not about to come our first night and they couldn't do it. Pathetic, horrible customer service, lousy staff who gave me excuse after excuse. Nope not my money ever again.
I booked with them for flights that cost 400 USD. Then I see price drop to 288 the next few hours. Called them to see if they can do anything, they said I should of paid for insurance. Then told me if price was 500 they wouldnt call me to make up for the difference.
I get it. Just leaves a bad taste cause 1) customer service sounded like they hate that I even asked 2) whatever tech stack they have must not have price prediction cause 100 dollar difference is alot.
I thought I was booking directly with the hotel and these scam artist took me to their site with pictures of the hotel making me believe I was booking and paying directly. Then I was quoted $299 per night for two rooms and charged over $850 on my credit card. I can see why they operate out of the Netherlands so they can avoid prosecution. Total corruption
I booked a room through booking.com. It was room at an individual's house. As I arrived I called the contact number from booking.com email and the homeowner answered. He told me someone else was in my room, that booking.com must have doubled booked it. I gave him my confirmation number and he supposedly contacted booking.com. He called me back and said he was removing the person in my room and that I could use the room in about 10 minutes. My main concern, how could they thoroughly clean the room in 10 minutes? Now if this was booking.com fault I don't know, but after reading other reviews I wouldn't be surprised.
They price matched my initial booking. We decided to book the same hotel again for travel a few months later, they price matched for 2 of our rooms. But when we had a total of 8 reservations, they declined to price match the others. There is nothing in the policy that states that they can not price match more than one reservation for the same hotel.
I am very disappointed with Booking.com! I booked a room online and got a error message twice when trying to pay for it so I found a room on my own. The booking was less than 4 hours old when I found out that it had gone through - meanwhile I found a hotel on my own. I certainly would have stayed there as it was a last minute booking! I phoned the facility and they said I was not charged. I emailed Booking.com and then they got back to me later and said I had to pay full price though I did not stay there even after I told them I got an error message when trying to pay BUT it had gone through!
I missed a connecting flight to LAX because of weather and didn't arrive until the next day. I couldn't use the hotel I had reserved because of that and the hotel charged me for the night anyway. When you use Booking.com you are contractually obligated to pay for at least one night whether you actually use it or not. Also, because the delay was because of weather the airline doesn't have to pay you for any losses either. Customers are just getting screwed left and right these days.
Called booking.com to cancel a reservation because of the horrible reviews. Since we were two women staying with children, we didn't feel safe staying somewhere where people were being arrested. I spend over 3 hours on the phone only to have a booking.com supervisor hang up on me and tell me that if the property doesn't feel we should have a refund, they will honor the property's decision. I even emailed someone from corporate with no response. This company is a scam who will take your money for services not rendered. They don't care about the safety of their guests or their reputation. The supervisor told me they wouldn't see the bad reviews because they only skim reviews to ensure their is no fail language and it's the guests responsibility to ensure they pick a safe place. It's all about the bottom line and the size of their profit margin, the customer service is horrendous and I highly recommend booking through a hotel directly to cut out this unnecessary middleman.
Don't trust this site, Never give card number to them, they can steal all of your information and spread to other scammers.
They lied about free booking and free cancellation. Charged me $25 reserve
Refund 0.50 after cancellation
If I could put negative stars I would. STAY AWAY FROM BOOKING. I had booked a flight to Houston and unfortunately I got into a motor vehicle accident while I was there, meaning I had to stay longer in Houston to recover. I asked to extend my flight until July 30th and the representative I spoke to booked my flight home for AUGUST 30th. While trying to rectify this issue with them, I was told the only solution was to pay AGAIN to book for the proper date. I have been calling them to get refunded for THEIR mistake, and each time I have been told that it has been escalated and I will be receiving a call back within 24-48 hours. IT HAS BEEN A MONTH…no one on the phone is able to help besides telling me that I will be receiving a call back. DO NOT EVER USE BOOKING
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
