Booking.com Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

Fraudulent practices!
August 21, 2023

On June 13,2023 me and my partner booked a flight to Helsinki. The trip was confirmed and the ticket numbers issued. On July 7 registration for the flight was open, but we could not register online. We arrived at the airport by 6 am on July 8, where it turned out we could not register at the registration machine either, as our reservation could not be found. Air Canada could not locate our reservation in their system either. That is when the nightmare and endless, fruitless calls to Booking.com started. We called the provided by booking.com phone number nine times and spend more than four hours on the phone. It was an extremely stressful situation for us taking in account our arrangement in Europe had previously been made. Booking.com call center representatives kept saying our reservation was confirmed and it is not their fault we cannot board the plane. Finally, after hours on the phone, their representatives admited booking.com's mistake. Nevertheless, they never offered rebooking and claimed there are no available flights the same or any of the coming days. We had no other choice as to book new tickets ourselves. The total financial loss caused by booking.com is 5,099 CAD that still has not been refunded! Now, they are reluctant to even provide audio recordings that prove their mistake, let alone any refund. Complete FRAUD this company is!

Poor customer service
August 21, 2023

Caution should be exercised when considering the use of booking.com, especially if you encounter challenges with your rental property. Our recent vacation rental experience was facilitated through this platform, and unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations in multiple ways. The unit did not match the description provided (unclean premises, absence of toiletries and cleaning supplies, malfunctioning lock, and a broken dishwasher).

Regrettably, we found ourselves not only having to purchase our own cleaning products, but also spending time cleaning the entire apartment before we could even begin our vacation. Understandably, this situation left us feeling quite frustrated. We promptly reached out to booking.com in order to address these issues and seek appropriate compensation.

Despite making repeated attempts over the course of weeks, our communications with booking.com have yielded little result. Our inquiries have consistently garnered generic automated responses, and our efforts to escalate the matter have largely gone unanswered. This level of service, or lack thereof, is deeply disappointing and far from acceptable. Unfortunately, this experience has left us with the decision to refrain from using booking.com in the future.

The only reason you got a one is because the locks were fixed the next day.

If you book with Booking. Com, and the room is not available or something goes wrong. You will be forced to fight them to get your money back. If you book with them you better follow through, what they give you. I booked a room, and the room was not available, and no other rooms was available. Had to drive home, was tired. The hotel sent my refund to booking.com. Had to go get proof that there was no charge and if I had not used my pay pal account, I would have never got my money.

No Rental Car, No Refund, No Customer Service
August 21, 2023

I used booking.com to secure a rental car in Seattle. Upon arrival at the rental car desk there was no there and after waiting and attempting contact to anyone I was forced to rent from another vendor. I reached out Booking.com about the situation and I have not been able to reach anyone. They said I needed confirmation Number and a PIN. I was not provided with either, so they suggest setting up an account to get those. I set up an account and I still don't have the two things required to even talk to someone or a lodge a complaint. I feel like my was taken by this and that they have provided me no chance to even contest it. I believe that these are unfair business practices and should be addressed.

Very Disappointed
August 21, 2023

I booked 2 rooms thru Booking.Com in Atlanta GA, we got to the hotel and only one room was reserved not 2. This was a Father's Day getaway gift for my dad, we had tix's to see an Atlanta Braves game, the hotel I chose was close to the stadium and they had a shuttle. This was to make things easier walking wise. The hotel was full so it was 1 room or nothing, the hotel booked us at a sister hotel ( also in Atlanta) but it was 7 miles away, no shuttle and the other hotel would not honor the price booking gave me. Instead of paying 360.00 for the 2 rooms it cost me 525.00. My father also had to drive to the stadium, there was also a lot of walking, this is NOT what I signed up for. The original hotel charged me for the room, as a no show because we left, ugh! Booking did NOTHING! And I mean NOTHING! I did get a refund from the original hotel, but, booking was useless. I will never use them again, ever

Stay away from booking.com
August 21, 2023

I booked a hotel room from what I thought was the hotels website. But I was scammed. Hidden fees, no refund policy and absolutely terrible customer service. I will be so much more careful next time. The hotel told me to always call them and never book online because of the scam. When I called my credit card to see if they could help me, the first thing they asked was if I used booking.com. They said they get so many calls about them and there is nothing they could do. In a nutshell I paid 300 dollars more for a room than I should have. What a terrible sleazy company. They should be ashamed of themselves. They are disgusting.

I wish I would have seen reviews of booking.com before trying my luck. In simple words, I live in Canada and I wanted to book a hotel reservation in Golden, BC, Canada but booking.com made a reservation for a similar name of hotel in wrightwood, USA. I mean how the hell? When we reached the hotel in Golden during midnight then we got to know we didn't have any booking there. Since then I have been trying to explain their customer care people but now these people start blaming me that I made a wrong booking and they are not processing refund for it. I advise everyone should see reviews of different customers and should completely stay away from this scam website. You might get a cheaper booking at first but 2nd or 3rd time you will have this experience. You can try if you can go through all this.

Thieves
August 21, 2023

Avoid this at all costs. The property charged me twice for two "Free Cancellations" and I spent two weeks contacting booking.com agents to get help. Every single time all I would get is "Sorry, we couldn't reach the property." I decided to contact the property myself and got my money refunded in a single call.

They're pretty great at charging you what doesn't belong to them, but good luck getting your money back.

Booking is the biggest scam around. I have been trying to get a refund since June. Been waiting on the "finance department". They keep requesting the wrong info or loose it. They also cant transfer you to the finance department. Only they are allowed to email them. Not call only email. I have been on the phone with them for about 4 hours so far being hung up on and being out on hold to try to get rid of me.

I have missed that my booking was non-refundable and I cancelled it without any thought. It happened two days before the check in date due to the family force-majeure circumstances.
There were no any note, a reminder from the booking.com and I think they should put it on their website right before you press the button CANCEL, on the contrary there was a note showing the amount of a refund.
I was trying to talk to the hotel and a booking.com representative, I had a document from the hospital to show but nothing helped me to get money back.
If at the moment of cancellation a note comes up that the booking is non-refundable you have some options to think about, like to give it to your friends or others for full or half price.
In my opinion Booking.com have to think about their customers and place a note with non-refundable information right before you review and agree with a cancellation.

Filthy apartment
August 21, 2023

I booked apartment in Cincinnati, Ohio in June.
I was charged $100 cleaning fee but the apartment was dirty, filthy. I didn't stay there, couldn't (hair in the bathtub, mold in the bathroom, dirty $#*!s) I moved to hotel. I send pictures and ask for refund but the booking.com won't help and the prosperity refuse to refund. Never again deal with booking.com!

Booked an international flight from Tampa to Dublin for June 15th.
Departing airlines was Aer Lingus from Tampa International. That was only Airline mentioned.
Checked in and downloaded boarding pass before arriving at airport. Boarding pass and check in both said Aer Lingus for bag check. Airport info said no Aer Lingus counter there. Nowhere did it explain this ticket was through British Airways. I was panicking. I called help desk for booking.com and was connected with a rep who had such a thick accent and spoke so quickly I could hardly understand him. I had to continually ask him to slow down and speak clearly. He kept repeating to me that it was Aer Lingus check-in, no other airline counter for this flight. I could not make him understand TPA did NOT have Aer Lingus!
Finally found a TPA supervisor who said that Aer Lingus used British Airways counters, and I was then able to continue. NO THANKS TO BOOKING.COM!
I will not use booking.com anymore, the expensive TV commercial advertising nothing but hype! It is a poorly run enterprise without any adequate or practical support help. I never had these problems with expedia.com

booking.com is a scam
August 19, 2023

Booked a hotel 6 months ago thru booking.com. On august 8 2023 booking.com e-mailed me and said that they were going to charge my card for the room.I called and talked to Mohammed and told him that was ok but not to use that card. I will us another card. I went to the company site to change the card but it would not let.me it kept saying that it diddnt like my card. I explained this to Mohammed and he said that he would send me a different link. Well, the link that he send was a picture of the hotel. I told him what i was seeing and he said hold on. The next day they cancelled my reservation. I had to find another hotel in the area during sturgis rally and had to pay an additional $300.00 dollars. My reservation # was *******889. When i tried to file a complaint with booking.com the site would not let me enter the send button. This company is a joke. The overall rating should be zero but there isnt a zero

Scam and dishonesty
August 19, 2023

I found another booking agent that offered EXACTLY the same booking for a slightly lower price. I tried to get booking.com to lower their price as part of their price matching offer. They however refused to lower their price despite the fact that I supplied links and screencaps to the less expensive alternative. I checked several times that the alternative was cheaper, but booking.com was extremely slow to respond in chat and completely refused to follow through on what they promises when i booked with them. 100% scam and dishonest behaviour. Avoid at all cost.

Absolute trash
August 18, 2023

Absolute trash. If things go smooth for you, then good for you. But when incidents happen, they will not protect you. We booked an accommodation named Hotel De Bern in Nice. The hotel is basically a money trap. They will set you up with broken facilities to scam the deposit. But whatever you do, they will not return the deposit anyway, and Booking.com protects them. Booking.com even removed the chat history between the hotel and I to cover it up.

Recently, I asked one of my friend who works in the hospitality segment. She confirmed that Booking.com will never cover the money lost or take any action to protect customers. They will tell their support agents to keep customers on hold, fail promise and lie until their customers give up.

Never ever use booking.com for your own sake. I will spread this information to every review platform until the last day of Booking.com
