The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

They booked me for a hotel and when I got there, the hotel said they don't do business with booking.com and I would have to pay them directly, so I did.
Booking promised a refund after wasting an hour and the phone. Never got the refund. Called many more times and every time, they promise a refund but never send it.
Booking.com is allegedly leaking data to Russian FSB. Mark Z. Feygin says in his video (6CIXQdMmDzQ) at 15:30 that Booking.com is leaking bookings data to the Russian FSB (KGB) (re: poisoning etc.).

I've recently had a disgusting experience with Booking.com.
On 25.07.2023 I tried to book a hotel in Cyprus via my personal page on booking.com. I paid the reservation amount - unfortunately, the reservation didn't succeed. "Something went wrong, your money will be returned back to your account within 24 hours" – said the mail from Booking.com.
However, the money didn't come.
On 27.07.2023 my Bank sent the money to Booking.com – and that was the signal for me to take actions.
I wrote 5 letters to Booking.com – without any answer. I made 2 calls, spent 1.5 hours to speak with the operators explaining the problem and providing all the info about the transaction. No result. Helpdesk doesn't seem to work properly. Once, a girl from Booking.com gave me an e-mail, which stopped to service the customers….
Moreover, it was very difficult to find any contacts of Booking.com. You may spend a day to surf the Booking.com page – and you will not find any phone or mail contacts there. Booking.com site doesn't have them. However, Google always help with similar issues…
I reported the problem to Card Service Fraud Department of my Bank – and then Booking.com started to answer. They promised first to return me the money in max.14 days in the first letter. Then, they asked for the first 6 and the last 4 numbers of my card, which I'm a bit of afraid to provide them with…
Anyway, almost 1 month passed – no money is returned to me and I see no finish in this rally.
Could you please, if you had similar experience, advice:
What should be done to speed up the refund;
What other hotel reservation providers do you know. I suppose it would be good to try to loosen a monopoly position of Booking.com and to make them think of the customers. A business oriented on making money from people and having such an ugly customer service, without any phone and mail address of a helpdesk, is somewhat very wrong…
An personally, I'm unwilling to continue relation with such a poorly servicing service…
I was stuck at the Atlanta airport this past week, and looking for a hotel room. The Hyatt popped up, and i went to reserve the room. At checkout, the rate changed from $260 to $450 and I did not complete the Resie. Found another hotel and checked into it. I come home to see that my CC has been charged even though I did not complete the Resie or stay at the hotel. Called the number associated with the charge got his aggressively rude guy (Marvin) who told me he worked for Hyatt. Turns out that he works for Booking.com. I filed a complaint & they came back and said they would not be able to generate a refund. Have put into dispute with the CC company. Avoid these people at all costs. Do not go near their site or book through them. BTW, there is no way to speak to customer service. Complete sham.
I have booked a hotel through booking.com called capthorne hotel, but when i reached there the receptionist said that the booking.com hasn't sent any mail to following hotel. I have called around 20 to 25 times to confirm my booking to booking.com. Some of them hang the phone and some of them weren't helpful even. They transferred me to hotel called al jannah saying capthorne couldn't accommodate us despite hotel had room for us. We were forced to go to other hotel where booking.com made no reservation for us. We been traveling 4hrs for just to get 1 room unfortunate which we didn't get yet. Being such a renowned site yet the service quality is unmeasurable low. All i could ask was to refund me money for which even after begging them haven't done yet. This is the last time i am using this booking.com. I will ask everyone to not fall into fraud like this site where they don't care and respect about the customer feeling and difficulties to spend time to talk rather then hang up in front of our faces.
Everyone out their should be shameful of your work. Shame on you booking.com
Rented in albania through booking a honda CRV for 12 days (a middle size SUV) the supplier (europ car)in albania gave me instead a fiat tipo and that was the only option they had - when i complained to booking their reply was that they cant guarantee the type of cars they are providing and communication stopped by email as there is nothing they are willing to do
Booking.com does not have a customer service representative to talk to about a false advertisement regarding breakfast when I got to the hotel they said there is no breakfast included and booking.com is aware of it. I took photos of the sign and a screenshot of the ad with
We used booking.com on our recent trip to Switzerland, and they proved to be a really bad service. The reason we used booking.com to reserve hotels is that we want to guarantee our hotels. Yet two days before our arrival at Bern, Switzerland, the hotel we booked on booking.com called us and demanded to cancel our reservations. And booking.com didn't help at all to locate a comparable hotel in the same area, and customer service took a long time. We recommend you not using booking.com, since it won't guarantee anything for your trip.
This is week 3 that I've been trying to get a resolution for my issue — I canceled with the hotel bc of my job (same day, within 5 minutes of booking). The hotel manager sent me an email that said I would not be charged. Well, I was. Booking charged my account, and when I gave them proof that the hotel didn't charge me, they said it was "non refundable". I called Booking and the hotel several times. Since the hotel didn't charge my account, all they could do is tell Booking, and that didn't do anything.
Dishonest site giving unfair discount without any reasons I cancelled my account today as I was given a lower discount rate than my wife who was on a lower Genius tier. Customer support for this company is the worst I have ever experienced. Did not bother fixing anything. Don't understand why big companies keep using these pointless call centres which fulfill no purpose whatsoever. Stay away from this company whenever possible…
They get you to commit and then add additional al costs.
It clearly stays per the pics below that 16 and under stay at no additional
Cost yet I was billed for their stay.
They changed the price in my the day of my arrival and still billed me for the kids. Booking did absolutely NOTHING
As per the pics attached you can see what I was rated and the 16 and under free and then what was revised the day of my booking and I still got charged for the kids
Our friends used Expedia and all charges/ taxes were included in their rate and they had no issue with their booking
I booked a room in Madrid by booking.com, I let know then that I was travelling from another country, that my will arrived late. They did not care and did not give me any feedback, the hotel also did not say anything, the only thing that they did was email me very late, but I was so busy I could not check the email.
When I arrived there, nobody opened the door for me, and they did not answer the phone., I had to take another hotel and paid 95 euros for that night. The next day I contacted the hotel and they said that it was not their fault, they said that is booking mistake. And I ask to use the second night and they said that the reservation was cancelled so I asked for a refund and they told me that I have to speak to booking.com. Furthermore, I had to take the second hotel, that cost 90 euros.
I contacted the booking.com and I explained every thing and they said it was the hotel's mistake. The hotel must refund me.
Nobody wants to take responsibility. I will not use booking.com any more and i telling to my friends and family about the bad experience that I had with booking.com.
Used them for years but not anymore.
Made an honest mistake by somehow booking the wrong dates for a weekend break.
Cancelled the dates 10 weeks prior to the booked dates and was refunded £10 from a £91 booking. Cancellation fee £81.
So be aware when things go wrong they don't give a $#*!, they just want your money.
Booking has become a heaven for scams. I am talking about the properties that have no refund policy. Usually these hotels are a health biohazard, but their commission is good as well so booking continues on promoting them even though reviews are extremely bad. This means that booking is part of these scams. As the customer service is now inexistent, then you will understand that I am right. Everywhere where you might be able to review booking. You will find that the rating is almost always 1. So please if you need to plan your vacation for the love of God, don't use booking. There are plenty of professional solutions out there that will prevent people from scamming you and not help them scam you like booking does.
I booked a hotel in Miami several months ago and keep getting emails that it is cancelled (8 total). I called the hotel and they stated they terminated their contract with booking.com, so because of that booking.com is telling me the hotel is closed and cancelled my reservation. This is a very poor business model! I've used booking.com for many years and will not longer be using them for any of my travel needs. It is very unprofessional to send an email that is a full on lie to a customer simply because they are no longer using your service. Do better booking.com and stop sending me emails!
Never book hotel or flight from this website. If I am allowed to rate Minus(-100) star, I would like to rate a -100 star. This is such an awful system. I will never book anything or let book anything to others from this site. We booked a 4-night stay in Edinburgh. Initially booked a 1 bedroom apartment, when we paid to booking.com. When the booking was done the landlord asked us to pay extra money. When we spoke with the CS team, they said we don't need to pay anything. After that the landlord's phone was unreachable.
A day before check-in we spoke with the CS team they said travel to there and if you don't find the property then please ring us. We reached there but the landlord was unreachable. Then we called the CS team, no reply and later they gave a reference for the hotel, which was soo irresponsible as well.
We ended up sleeping in the coach station and returned back to home.
Our flight ticket was wasted and we ended up returning home and wasting our 4 days' holiday. This was the worst experience in my life time. Never ever will book again from this site nor there to suggest book it.
I cancelled a flight one month before I was charged ******* INR this is complete ridiculous I don't recommend anyone to book flights with booking.com
They are the biggest fraud
Had the worst travel experience with your company. Who writes the reviews for your hotels, anyway. Hard to believe it would be anyone who has ever stayed here. Paid for two nights. Room was absolutely nothing like what was described online.
Was told by the front desk a cancellation would cost us one night stay. Fine, we said we would stay one night then switch. Front desk change their story saying they would not refund balance of the trip, to take it up with your company.
Hotel Casa Autora Guanajuato 40 Pozuelos Col. Cerro del Gallo, *******, Guanajuato
1692/2=846MXper night for. 846/16.5 =$51.27
Falsely Advertised at $36+$7 USD tax per night.
Our room looked nothing like any one of the pictures advertised.
Bedroom 12'x12'. Horrible mattress. Bathroom 5'x5'. No ceiling fan, very loud portable fan. Was told there would be a one-night night stay penalty for early cancellation. Would not refund second night if canceled. Very ugly view of tenement housing from terrace. Very long steep hill walk to historical center of town. Doubt it was the 3100 ft. Distance as advertised. Dirty neighborhood.
I've stayed at nicer college backpacker hostels.
THANKS TO LOUIS, TODAY HE RESOLVED ISSUES WITH SOME OVERLAP BOOK, I TRYED SINCE FRIDAY, WITH NO SUCCESS, BUT TODAY I WAS LUCKY, THANK YOU BOOKING
I'm extremely disappointed with booking.com. They allowed a very subpar Airbnb rental on their platform. During my stay in Edinburgh, UK, the property was in a very poor condition and the shower wasn't working. I contacted customer support twice and they assured me a refund, which I calculated based on other advertisements for properties with no shower. However, they never actually refunded the money. Despite sending numerous emails and making calls, they stopped responding. You on you my own with this app.
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
