On SmartCustomer, businesses may not offer incentives or pay to remove reviews. Learn more about our Review Guidelines.
The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

I was a victim of pickpockets in Paris on my way to Dubrovnik. All my credit cards were stolen and my I.D. I managed to use my passport as an I.D. and some friends wired me cash, but when I went to pick up the car (that I'd already paid for) the company couldn't process the transaction because I didn't have a physical credit card. I had my partner's card, my I.D. and she was standing by to confirm, but they couldn't do it. I also got a letter from that company saying they wouldn't be charging Booking for the car. The people at the car company were very helpful and got another car company to do the deal, but for twice the money. But at least they did it, so it was the original car company's problem not mine. Booking charged me $252.00 because I didn't complete the original car rental. It was like being stolen from twice. I've repeatedly called customer service, and sent 3 letters to the CEO, the head of Customer relations and their assistant and have received no response. It's the first time I've ever contacted the head of a company and haven't even received an acknowledgement. There's a reason this company has such horrible reviews. All they care about is money. There IS NO customer service. I've had such wonderful responses from Expedia on issues I don't know why I ever dealt with these people in the first place. That's over. They are absolutely the worst company in the business.
We booked an Air B and B a few weeks ago. We followed the instructions. Paid $1,600. Then we got a confirmation email. It looked completely legit and authentic. We then travelled and kept trying to get info on how to get in to Air B and B. For a week we have not been able to get confirmation or help. Booking.com said they didn't show us as having the rental. It is a total scam. We are now out the funds and have to find another place to stay. It is a nightmare. This is gross that we could get scammed like this. Veryyyy disappointing. Do not use this company. We have evidence of our confirmation.
My flight times were changed with a flight booked for nov 2023 the return leg didn't fit with my onward travel plans so it was cancelled and over two months I've been waiting for a refund I just get a stock answer saying their waiting for the airline to refund me but my contract was with booking.com so they should refund me I've since made a charge back on my card but still waiting
I've used this company on many occasions and spent a lot of money with them but I won't use them in the future avoid them at all costs
Do not use bookings.com! I made on reservation i did not pay and it randomly got cancelled and no more room were left. I made a second booking with a hotel down the street and payed for that one in advance and it was still later cancelled and i had to wait 7-12 days for my money back and was told that i cancelled my own booking and bookings.com was able to do nothing about this. Thanks for a great birthday bookings.com!
Scam!
Lot of fake reviews on Google for most of hotels in Delhi. This hotel is also one of them. Completely shady and Booking.com does not care as long as they get money to support these businesses.
I booked the room using booking.com. While checked in, they charged far more and I would get official invoice from Booking.com but still have not received anything else. This hotel is a scammer. It's been a day I checked out but not received any invoice. Feels very shady.
Contacted the booking.com customer care but they don't care. Waste of time, money and trust.
If you have the choice, do not put your hotel on Booking.com but opt voor Airbnb. Booking does nothing what so ever to protect hoteliers from crazy people. Let me give an example:
We had a guest asking to pick her up at the airport. That is normal practice for us, zo we asked her for her flight details. She did not sent them. This is all verifiable in the Booking.com intranet. Because we had no flight details, we could not pick her up.
This guest gave us a 1 rating on Booking because we didn't pick her up, (she didn't show up in the hotel and never paid the cancellation fee). Naturally I asked Booking to remove this review. Because this had nothing to do with us but was all the guest's fault. Booking did not want to remove the review, which lowered our score from a 8.9 to a 8.8.
Airbnb protects you against practices like this (plus you get to rate the guest as well).
Considering what happened I am now going to put our hotel on Airbnb.
When I made the booking, I didn't want to prepay it but my card was charged anyway in Chinese yen for a Japan hotel. I cancelled the booking and have chased a couple of times for my refund without success.
They're not responsible for nothing not even false representation (see pictures). It takes forever and a thousand steps to try to get a refund even if the hotel (actually a dump Days Inn, Albany) has agreed to issue a refund.
Booking is just a payment service, nothing more. Use Expedia instead.
Haven't had problems with making reservations for hotels
Decided to try buying a ticket there
Paid extra for flexible option that promised free changes
When tried to change the flight to the other date they ask me to pay the price of the new fight saying it's fare difference although the price of the flight in the new date is absolutely the same
Bookings.com shows a price for a unit, then once you confirm the booking the price changes, as there are suddenly admin fees.
They also say that the venue will contact you with regards to payment, only to send a SMS and email to say they are trying to deduct the amount payable but you have insufficient funds. Yes, I did have insufficient funds as I was not prepared for the amount to go off before being "contacted"
I went on honeymoon with my wife and 3-month old baby last October which we booked in France via Booking.com. I was physically threatened by the host (in writing) and my sick wife and baby were locked in the apartment which the host refused to resolve. We called the police and moved hotels. We were unable to leave a review on Booking.com as the host had said we didn't show up. We also asked to leave an honest review for this host, for the host to be banned, and to get a refund. Booking.com refused all three things. So right now this criminal host has a misleading rating of "good" because they block unhappy guests (even though there are plenty of unhappy reviewers anyway). A court found that Booking.com owed me the money but they contested it on some technical grounds - their legal address is in the Netherlands, they are not the contracting party, they didnt get the claim... all disingenuous and some dishonest comments. They way they have dealt with this over the past year is to try to bury it rather than resolve.
More seriously they have criminal hosts on their platform that they wilfully and negligently do not remove or even let review. Mistakes and accidents happen... but this is no accident.
I attempted to book a room for a friday night in Bar Harbor ME. They booked a thiursday night room, and refused to correct the check-in date to Friday, or refund my payment. This was their mistake, as I checked, and made sure I asked for the Friday Night Check-in. Customer service was totally uesless. I am out $193, and booked my own romm at anothe hotel for the correct night. I deleted the phone app, and will never use these crooks again.
Used these for a night stay in York I really needed hotel with a car park so put this in my filter search choose Hampton by Hilton York. £256 for one night. Disappointing is an under statement no car park as advertised had it been a disabled person they would have struggled with the trek. This hotel is close to travel lodge for facilities but double the price on looking on line the rooms were £120 a night that's the true value of the room at best.
They promote the WORST OF THE WORST HOTELS AND RENTALS whose contact numbers displayed are powered off; they have a SHADY BUSINESS GOING ON OF PROMOTING WORST HOTELS WITH UNEXPLAINABLE REVIEWS! Their customer service is a joke who just put the guests stranded in strange cities ON HOLD and NEVER ANSWER THE CALL! These $#*!headd don't bother about your safety I don't know how this sham of a business is still running!
Imagine the mental turmoil one is going through when the so-called confirmed booking is a property with a big lock at its gate with an unreachable phone number when you arrive in that strange city after 13 hrs of travel from the airport! Look at the calls dialed to the customer service helpline! LOOK AT HOW MANY TIMES I DIALED CUSTOMER SERVICE HELPLINE IN THAT DIRE SITUATION AND THEY NEVER ANSWERED!
This should be enough proof of NEVER TO TRUST OR BOOK WITH BOOKING.COM
THEY DONT CARE ABT UR SAFETY OR COMFORT THEY ARE JUST STEALING YOUR MONEY
I paid $768.93 to booking.com, they immediately took my money but failed to pay the hotel. Needless to say 12 hours later the manager at the property had to go back and forth with them for them to send over the payment.
The rep lexis was of no help and tried to convince the property owner that I had to pay again or he should let me stay for free? Go figure
Having used booking.com for years, I booked a room for three nights in NYC. I stayed elsewhere the first night, but booked in. When I returned on the next night, the hotel had rented my room. I had to rebook at the last minute, at a much higher price (at another location). The hotel had obviously rebooked my room at a much higher price. Booking.com took no responsibility, although they agree I had booked and paid for the room for 3 nights...it was clear they wanted the hotel's business. Booking.com kept its fees, the hotel made out by rebooking at a higher rate. I was the one who lost out.
Sorry i couldn't rate it a 0...DO NOT BOOK A CAR THROUGH BOOKING.COM. I went to Ireland on Sept 6,2023. I had to pay booking up front for a rental car. I chose to get the insurance because my insurance wouldn't cover it. Booking charged me $498 for the car and insurance. When I got there Carhire said they don't accept booking insurance and I had to get internal insureance to the tune of $698,That made my rental cost $1177 for the rental. I Will rent directly from the car rental agcy next time which will be more than the intial booking come-on price but will avoid the high total for this rental. Also Carhire only has high milage cars and the vast majority already had significant damage on it and upon turn in I had to prove (I had pictures of all the damage) to the inspection team to turn in the car. Overall a very stessful end to a great vacation.
I got charged 365 dollars for 2 nights at the Virginian. I did not stay at this place and yet booking.com would do NOTHING to remedy the situation. I will NEVER use booking.com and I will spread the word about the criminal customer service.
I was deceived in Milan, lost €335. I had booked an apartment which did not exist, through booking.com. I have been sending messages of complaint for a month. They DON'T care. I lost my money, they don't care. This is booking.com!
Made my reservation through booking.com, I can't complain about our hotel it was a new hotel everything was very nice, cleaned although our AC wasn't working, they offered us another room we asked if we can get reimbursed, they had no problem with that. The only problem here was that we had to get reimbursed through booking.com because I made our reservation through them. That has been going on since August, I keep on calling and they tell me it's going to take 7 to 12 business days and in the next 2 days you should get your reimbursement. All I can say I learned my lesson not to book through them.
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
