Zero stars
November 2, 2020

I ordered simple blinds on 9/4 with an estimated ship date of 9/16. As of 11/2, I have no blinds. I never received a notice of delay from the company. Their customer service is terrible. I can only online chat with customer service (which is a service, not the company itself) and they just say it'll be ready next week. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Ordered blinds and was told it would be 7-9 days for delivery. A month later when I finally was able to get through to customer service I was told that they could not provide any additional information with respect to the order except that it was still in production. After I cancelled the order, the cancellation was never processed. Another week passed I call customer service once more and never got through. I finally was able chat with a representative to push for a refund. No refund received at this time. This should be referred to the Better Business Bureau for action.

So disappointing and the biggest waste of money I've ever spent! I paid someone to hang my shades and they were all broken, they are built literally taped to a poll and out of 9, only 2 were not broken. I emailed customer service and they told me they would initiate a refund and then disappeared. Worse, one of the broken shades fell on top of my head while I was sleeping, because as I said - they are just taped on. I am so angry and the company won't get back to me to give me the refund they said they would. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

Super Slow
July 16, 2020

The production times listed on the site are not accurate. Takes well over a month before blinds ship and if you call customer service, be prepared to be on hold for over 40 minutes. I can't rate the product because I'm still waiting over a month after placing my order. Also, they charge your credit card immediately when order is placed, not when product ships. I gave two stars because once I spoke to customer service, the representative was nice and apologetic, but seriously, I just want my blinds that I paid for 5 weeks ago.

I finally received my Blindster Solar shades. Happy with the quality, install process and adjustments. I am happy to report I was able to automate and make these shades smart so that they automatically raise and lower based on time or weather. Happy to provide more info on how to do this for less than $50. Does not require any changes to your motorized shades. *******@gmail.com

Avoid Deluxe Light Filtering Double Cellular Shades with Top Down -- We purchased 5 of these Deluxe Blinds and THREE of the Top Down mechanisms failed and became stuck - even with careful use or even very limited use. Blindster sent replacements the first time - but when one of the replacements failed, Blindster took over 2 months to decide to require us to ship back the faulty blind for repair - after first insisting that we installed it on a sliding glass door. More pictures later - no replacement. How are we to send back a 60" faulty blind that failed with limited and careful use. AVOID THESE Deluxe Light Filtering Double Cellular Shades. And don't expect BLINDSTER to honor their word.

I bought 4 of the mini blinds from Blindster. (36" wide by 60" tall). We switched from pleated shades to mini-blinds so we could change the lighting by simply changing the tilt instead having to raise the blinds or nothing. We expect blinds to last maybe 5 years.

Within a week the tilt on one blind failed - can't be changed stuck closed. I called them, and emailed them, and they were responsive if not a little slow. I had to take pictures at their request then repeat explanations repeatedly. I mean really? "The blind has stopped tilting." I took it down and the string to tilt bar connection was very poorly designed. So poorly I was amazed the blind worked for a week. It's nylon about the thickness of a business card clipped over the steel tilt shaft. I expressed my concerns over this design flaw to them asking 'how can these blinds last even a year?'

"We nevvvvver have this problem."

Right... They sent me a replacement blind that took about a month to arrive (Covid so no worries). It showed up bent 30 degrees in the middle. Not completely their problem though better packing might've prevented that. Anyway, the next week a second blind's tilt failed and two weeks later a third. We're about three months in and have only one blind that hasn't failed. That's a 75% failure rate.

These things are abysmally designed. Do. Not. Waste. Your money!

Total dissatisfaction
April 25, 2020

Purchased a large room darkening shade from blindster. After I had it installed and rolled it down it had a seam in the middle. Not a subtle seam but a sewn butt seam with about 1" of both pieces sticking out which make a lump (and a sound) when it rolls uo and down. And it look like crap with the seam across the middle. Also light comes in through the needle holes in the seam. I sent them a video of the shade rolling down and the lump is so bad they thought the motor was defective and sent me a new motor. They did offer me a refund if I take the shade down and donate it to goodwill. Then I still have no shade and am out what it cost to have it installed. In their defense, the fine print on the web site (in my opinion somewhat hidden) did say that larger shades may be seamed but I expected more for $485!

Poor quality
January 16, 2020

Terrible cheap tiny plastic handles that are more of an unsteady finger pull.
Figured I got what I paid for, cheap blinds, awful customer service... Ordered the rest of my shades from Select Blinds. Couldn't believe the quality difference between the two companies. Side by side the quality and construction was no comparison. The molded handle from Select Blinds fit my hand vrs two fingers and gives a much easier glide with no sagging or tension on the blind. I was amazed at the difference in quality of just the handle itself, it truly made the difference. On top of a quality handle, it honestly gives the blind a rich quality finish. Price difference between the two companies was pretty close, paying the $8.00 dollar difference was the best decision for me.

I placed an order on 12/09/19. Order said estimated 7-9 business days for production. Also stated could be delays because of increased orders during the holiday season. It has been 17 business days and it still has not shipped. I have talked to customer service three times, each time they give me a different estimate of shipping. They are now telling me the shades will not ship until 1/13. Customer service does not seem to care much about this issue either, they only offer excuses stating their manufacturer closes over the holiday. That is an absolute joke to me. If it is going to take over a month to ship, they should be up front with the timing. I would have ordered from another company. I would not recommend this company in any manner. Spend the extra 10-20% on a better company.

Best Customer Service!
December 20, 2019

For years I purchased shutters and shades from Shades, Shutters and Blinds till they abruptly went out of business. I am so happy with Blindster. Not only are they fair on price but their customer service is as good as it gets. I will continue to buy from them and recommend them to everyone. BTW... the shutters with the Z-Frame are so easy to install.

Ordered four of the 'No tools' cordless cellular shades that you hear advertised all over the place. We're very sorry we wasted our time with these. They are NOT easy to install and look pretty cheap and bad! When I called about not being able to install it correctly, I was told, "well you have to use some muscle to get it to click in place". Well, my husband and adult son have plenty of 'muscle' and still couldn't make them look right. We asked for a refund (you have 60 days) and received that, minus 10% fee. You need to provide proof that you've donated them to a charity. Not sure what a charity is going to do with cordless shades with no adhesive brackets... they're still attached to our walls. Now, we have to figure out how to remove those things without too much damage. We ordered blinds from Costco instead. Wish I'd never heard of Blindster.com

I purchased two sheer shades from Blindster. At about $600 each ($1,200 for the pair), they were a lot less expensive than Hunter Douglas and so I decided to place the order. The shades arrived and I installed them. Within 10 minutes, the one shade was torn. I have had temporary paper shades that are better quality than this. I complained to Blindster.com who informed me that the sheer shades are one of their premier products and don't fall under the satisfaction guaranteed. Let me say that again. Their premier products don't fall under their satisfactin guarantee. They are offering to replace the torn shade but that means that a few weeks from now, I'll have terrible quality shades with no future satisfaction or quality guarantee. I will never again buy from this company and I strongly recommend that others look elsewhere for their window treatment needs.

Great product. Great price.
September 15, 2019

We had several in home estimates on solar shades for our home. After looking at the money we would save on Blindster, we decided to give it a chance. We bought one initially to make sure we were happy with the quality and color. Then we purchased for all other windows. Our initial blinds had a shade with pull chain, we decided to go with the spring pull shade with others. They both were of good quality. We could not decide between the 93% and 95% solar shades as we wanted to keep the heat out but keep out view. The 95% kept out more heat and you could see thru almost the same. The pictures below with the 2 windows shows a 93% on left and 95% on right. The second picture shows how the shades look with valances. It is certainly a nicer look with the valances but in areas with little use, I'm not sure they are worth the price. I would purchase from this company again.

I recently ordered three solar shades of different sizes for recessed windows and they all came in not wide enough. Even if they were wide enough for some reason they leave a large gap on each side between the shade and wall. The first two were about 1/4 inch short and I used washers to shim the shade bracket out far enough to make them work. The third shade was 1/2 inch short and I contacted customer service who had me measure the window and take a picture of the tape measure measurement. I had to pay an additional $15 for shipping and the second shade arrived only to find it a 1/4 inch short. Again I got out some washers and used them for shims to make the shade work.
Needless to say very disappointed and will never use them again.
