I am a newly published author, Nefertiti Wolf. However, I have had my books printed by Lulu.com and Amazon with never a problem. I ordered my books through my publisher using Barnes & Noble the BEGINNING of December. Barnes & Noble completely ruined my books by misprinting: using different size font on multiple pages along with cutting off one of the illustrations on one page. Not to mention it is now February and they have not corrected my order despite our many emails (since you can't call). I have now lost money waiting on books I ordered 2 months ago. If you are an author, do yourself a favor and DO NOT use Barnes & Noble as a printing source. They are the absolute worst.
Barnes and noble has the absolute worst system for tracking product inventory and managing customers' accounts. I have experienced the absolute worst customer service and support from any retailer large or small with B&N. I hope other retailers put them out of business, not because I am dissatisfied with their service but because I do not believe they deserve market share. They need an absolute overhaul to maintain competitiveness. I will not be spending any money there and I will discourage others from doing so either.
It seems as though Barnes and Noble is giving chewy.com competition for a run to the bottom when it comes to customer service. I don't have a problem with something being delivered later than the first, second, third, eighth update. What I do have a problem with is being strung along, day to day, for 10 days. I stay home to wait for my shipments. Porch piracy is a real thing. So, Barnes and Noble, doing me that way for 10 days, was wrong. I wonder, does Barnes and Noble hold stock in ‘porch piracy for hire'? When I wanted to pick up my order in a brick and mortar Barnes and Noble store, twice, I was told no, but no one could tell me why.
I ordered a gift card before Christmas, it was supposed to arrive at the latest by December 30th. It never arrived. Then I saw it had updated to arrive by January 5th. It is now January 7th and I still have not received it. How hard is it to ship a gift card?! I have family that has not received their Christmas gift from me and now I'll have to email them an e-gift card. Very disappointed with Barnes and Noble shipping. I LOVE this store and I will still go to their stores in person, but wow. I will not order online from them again. I'd give them 5 stars if it weren't for shipping.
I ordered a book from US to be shipped to Canada. It was apparently back ordered and I found the book elsewhere in stock. B&N won't cancel my order, it's upto me to wait however long it is then I have to pay to return it. Try and find a human to call - impossible! I'll never buy from such a shoddy outfit again.
They lost my package, the tracking number "doesn't exist" and I've called twice and been given the run around to get my $$ back. They have an antiquated system, rude customer service personnel and seem confused by their own procedures. A huge hassle which has wasted my time and money. Avoid if possible, you will be thankful you did.
Normally I would buy books online however I got tired of receiving them damaged. Bent corners, etc due to cheap plastic shipping wrap.
So I bought a book from Barnes and Noble.
New. Drop the money, get new with no issues.
I drive 110 round trip miles, plus $4.15 a gallon.
Book came in damaged.
"We can help shipping" I'm told.
Bummer.
I got 20% off but who cares, corners still look like they were chewed off.
Oh well, back to Ebay I guess.
I was so happy Barnes and Noble carries Kpop albums and ordered two on cyber Monday. One was a preorder of StrayKids Christmas EveL which is how I would describe my holiday shopping experience with Barnes and Noble. After I deliberately ordered this album, I received the notification that my order was an entirely different album I have never heard of. There is no way I would have accidentally ordered the wrong album. I was debating as I checked out whether I should even do the preorder because they didn't indicate when the preorder would be ready. They don't allow you to make any changes after an extremely short time so I'm stuck having to return an album I never ordered in the first place. I will never shop at Barnes and Noble again. Their support was so insulting and unhelpful. They are the true Christmas Evil!
I preordered a book from Barnes & Noble. I was eagerly waiting for it to arrive when it was released, but noticed that the date it was expected to arrive had already passed. I went to check the tracking on my order, and it said that my order's status was cancelled. I had recieved no notification that it had been cancelled, so I sent them an email just wondering if it was because there had been an error with payment. I didn't hear ANYTHING. The next day, I recieved an email saying I had seven days to fix the payment on the order or it would be cancelled... as far as I knew it was already. Then the same day (before I had even seen the previous email.) I recieved another email saying that it had been cancelled... not sure what happened to my seven day notice. All the while, I haven't heard anything back from their support staff.
It has just greatly annoyed me as I thought that this was a reputable bookshop and I know writing this review will probably not put anyone off using this website, but I really have to rant somewhere.
So now my order is cancelled and I haven't heard a peep from them. I will not be buying anything from them again.
I tried to upload screenshots of my emails but they weren't big enough while cutting out my personal information.
Wow, Am I super glad I got a kindle instead of a nook. You can't even get a full series of books in most cases on a nook. There is no audible option to go along with it. They are stuck in the 90s when killing the competition was easy for physical books. You couldn't even walk into a barnes and nobles today and buy a full series of books. Amazon has every book in every series available in a day or two at your doorstep as a mass paperback option for relatively cheap. This reminds me of that tom hanks movie "You've Got Mail" except tom hanks is now older and he's slowly selling his shares of his bookstore because for some reason he can't hire people and make sure that they have ebooks and audio books available, as well as the option to have any book shipped to you.
3hrs on line to order some blu rays on sale. Edit cart function didn't work. Chat help said log out log back in. No change. Use a different browser. No change. Log out log back in no change. Log out, empty browser cache, log back in. Message to remove pre-order items from cart since not in stock - but that was what I was ordering all along! Last year they delivered one item in my mail order so I could pick it up in person - at a store an hour drive each way. This is the worst on-line operation with which I have ever dealt.
Bought a text book through Barnes & Noble. Estimated it to be delivered within 2 weeks. Never got any updates from them and when I called customer service they said it was just sitting at the warehouse. Should never have bought anything from them. They have the worst service and shipping times.
On 8/25 I placed an order for 23 books totaling $319.84 planning to use gift cards. No where in the order form was I offered the opportunity to input the gift card info. I called "customer service" to complain that B&N would charge my credit card that they insisted I provide to complete the order. The agent took the gift card info and said the purchase was paid for. On 8/27, I find that B&N charged my AMEX card anyway. I called "customer service" again, had to provide the gift card information AGAIN. I have removed my card info from their site. This is not the first time I've had to go through the same rigmarole with them. It's like they don't want to honor their gift cards. I order a lot of books, but I hate having to deal with indifference and incompetence. It does not get any better. Total time spent on the phone: 2+ hours. Re order #*******710.
Have been trying to order three books for my mom on the website. It keeps changing my billing information on me when I am not directing it to change anything, and then locked me out when I tried for the tenth time to process the order. I will just drive the extra 30 miles to an independent bookstore.
I will never step foot inside the Boise Idaho Barnes and Nobles ever again. You make the shopping experience unbearable with your draconian face diaper Nazi policies! You can keep your face diaper rules and I will spend my money elsewhere.
I had first and hopefully the last experience with Barnes&Nobles! You would think they incentivize the reading in 21st century when people tend to read less but they DO NOT. First of all, they don't have an exchange option, you have to return the item first, which will take more than 5 business days, then you should wait until you get a refund (another 3-4 days), only after that you can place a new order and wait 3-5 days. So, overall it may take a month! Then you are responsible for shipping! I bought 3 books and paid around 40$, but I wanted to exchange two (totalling in 21$) in another book but I paid 11.10$ for shipping, so I just lost the money. They don't care about the customer's needs and discourage the reading which is sad at least.
I [purchased 4 books today at the store and when i got homed they were online for $5 cheaper each and i did not get that price instore. Called store and said bring books back and we can redo the transaction. I live about 50 miles from the store and it will cost me more in gas to return this way. Called website online and talked to customer service and all i got was sorry, take them back and reorder online. You think i could take pic recieot and they could send me a gift card in mail for the difference.: I will shop Amazon from now and and not buy at B&N. Very unhappy customer...
I'm very disappointed with Barnes and Noble. I order a book that I wanted to pick up at the store. I picked a store near by. The site said the book was available at that location (Nashua NH). I was placing the order after hours so I didn't expect a response saying the book was available to be picked up that night. Not 10 minutes after placing the order I got an email saying sorry the book is not available at my chosen store. I could try another location or have it shipped. So I tried placing it on Salem NH since they said "in stock." 10 minutes later I got the message that they didn't have stock. Okay 1 store the inventory is not accurate. Same message have it shipped or try another location. Are you kidding me? 2 times is all you get and I go to another store. Not Barnes and Noble. Try to reach anyone to get help with a store that really has the book is not worth it because they gave the same crap that I saw online.
I never write bad reviews, but this is crazy. I ordered a text book and paid extra for two day delivery. After not receiving my book, I contacted them. I was told that it would be several weeks to get it. I have already have had two quizzes without my book. I ordered it from somewhere else and it came in two days. I asked to cancel my order and they said I could not and had to wait until it was delivered in another three weeks. I will never do business with them again. Horrible just horrible.
Awful service if you buy online, I won't recommend choosing this company for online purchases at all.
