Anyone can ask a service through bark. The process would send a client a verification code and the client will send the code back to verify the request. But even though the client won't send the verification code back to BARK, BARK will still post the request making professionals pay to see the details of the request. It is a loss of money on the part of the professionals. Paying for a request that is not verified. Bark said as long as a request is made and a phone number is real, then they can post the request. Real phone number, so a client can use other peoples phone numbers as long as it is active. Even a phone number of other states can be used as long as it is active.

As an academic coach, I received one client who I had very good business from Bark the first time I purchased my first few leads. This made me feel successful very early on as a customer of Bark.

However after a considerable time now spending my very small marketing budget as a sole trader, I have found no additional clients. I have responded to a few request for quotes but never received any definite business. I've also submitted interest to a few students while purchasing more credits to enable me to do so. $50 here and there, it all adds up for a tiny business like me.

At this point it has become a cash sink for me with negative return. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely a large number of potential clients in their list of leads. In order to reply to them I have to spend so much cash, which I did previously in the hope that I can find another quality client. As much as I hope Bark can provide me leads that convert to real business, I can no longer afford to continue.

I am not sure if this is simply a competition for who can offer the cheapest service. I have to spend an enormous amount of cash to possibly get 1 client, something a tiny business like me as a sole trader cannot afford. I cannot tell if leads are of good quality at all, unless you are able to start a genuine conversation with the potential client. My experience further from my first few leads was like it is a one-sided affair. I am not certain I am paying for genuine leads either. There must be a way to confirm contact with the clients even if they do not choose you. It just feels like I am throwing away cash.

Unfortunately, Bark is a gamble that I cannot keep playing as a tiny business. It may be useful for larger companies with more cash to spend in marketing.

We're sorry to hear that you have lad less success using the platform recently.

We do appreciate that it can be frustrating when customers don't respond. We usually find this is because they have hired, or are considering hiring, another professional. We generally find that responding to the customers as and when they place their requests gives you the best chance of speaking to them when they are available and before they have hired anyone.

Due to us being an open public platform there is a certain amount of personal filtering that can help you receive the most convertible leads. By going to Settings, My Services and Filter Questions you can remove leads that include "I don't know" or low budgets or small jobs - essentially anything that makes the lead more vague or not customised for you. This should then mean you receive leads where the buyer has been specific about their needs which suggests they are fully aware of the service they desire. We advise that our professionals do not respond to vague requests, as these are often the least convertible.

In terms of our pricing, it is set based on the monetary value of the job as well as the heat of the lead. We are not a commission based system and therefore our role is to provide professionals with the opportunity to convert more business. As such our prices are carefully configured to take all these factors into account.

Don't use!

Ok I'm speaking from a professional cleaning standpoint! The company is trash, it takes our money! Just google cleaners and call them. Whenever we go on there we have to pay for bark credits and there's no guarantee that these people are legit! They are terrible. They allow the same individuals to get on and repost for absolutely no reason, also professionals are clueless on how to use the app so they post as if they need the cleaning! Don't waste your time or money trust me!

We had a specific set of current and future requirements and provided a level of detail to the businesses Bark put us in contact with. At least 5 high level responses were received within an hour and I have to say all were professional and of high quality in all aspects of their approach.
I was honestly dealt with and the process is still ongoing. Of the five, 2 were unable and expressed this within a day, one was outside our budget but very reasonable and one is still in progress with one waiting for further contact.

A massive thank you to Andy ollie Phil Casey and dave the guys from protech-drivewsys who gave our property outside a complete makeover but the add on bark and was answered within an hour
We was very happy with the quote and work began 3 weeks later 7 days later our property was totally transformed.
The team were fantastic worked immensely hard extremely professional very polite and well mannered thank you for making 2 customers very happy and totally enjoying there outside space would recommend 100%

Hi, Bark loves to decide like a parent how their site should be managed which is OK but they also allow any set of bashers and competitors to trash your reputation and get involved where legally they should not be going at all. We had a very sick person leave a sordid and false review on their site and they are actually sticking up for this sick individual instead of believing our company which has been with them for over one full steady year. Steady declination in leads and they are WAY too expensive for the value of the lead vs. what you pay.

Waste of money

Thought this was too good to be true, signed up on the off chance I was wrong - bad move, Leads are fake, contact is made but then either cancel visits repeatedly or tell you they arent hiring/looking for work, they dont refund money however much you can prove the leads are not genuine - should have followed my instincts, still if this review saves a few other people from making a mistake and lining their pockets its a small victory and a lesson learned

Fake Leads waste of money

It is statistically impossible to bid on 47 leads and not even receive an email back from one of them. They don't return calls, text or email. Do not waste your money if you are bidding on work. You will be lucky to get a reply from one of the fake customers. I am sure some leads are real, but the majority are not.

Within an hour, a Caterer called with a very reasonable quote for a funeral wake. We discussed my requirements and agreed terms, then I booked the date for the cold buffet to be delivered.
Such a relief to get this sorted out so promptly, when there's so much else to organise!

Disgusting management

Disgusting! As a pro MakeUpArtist I signed up for clients and was told to buy credit to use the platform for £44.00 including £7 tax which is 60credits to contact any leads! The employees are rude and management is even worse for the brand. Will advice customers to choose Bidvine as it's more trustworthy. Still trying to get my refund and it's just going to drag

Bark is a scam - All the leads I called were either already signed or cancelled by the poster. When I contacted Bark to take this up, they simply said the clients are entitled to sign with another consultant.

Worldwide but especially our New Zealand consumers, vendors and businesses BE AWARE! Don't take my word for it... read all the other complaints and do your own research first. I tried advertising two businesses.
- Firstly, they are a UK based company claiming "ex GST": Isn't it illegal to charge GST if you're an overseas company?
- Misleading currency charging for their service: Should they disclose what currency they are also charging us?
- On the bottom right of the site it has a NZ flag icon. Quite misleading using our NZ flag icon without correctly loading the information relevant to that country – ie NZD $300 not just $300 ex GST.
- Excessive fees: If it is, say $2.50 a credit and I am being charged 26 credits to purchase a lead x $2.50 = $65. That is also not in NZD! Highly excessive to purchase a Lead. That's approx 26 hits on google ads for me if the CPC is set at $2.50
- Consumer Protection: They are not taking any steps or care in vetting Vendors/Business Owners/Tradies signing up their services. The professionals on here could be scammers, cowboys and dodgy people claiming they know what they are doing, take someone's money and that's it. Where is the Consumer Protection? Have seen heartbreaking overseas feedbacks from consumers being ripped off from a so called Professional.
- My Visa Credit Card statement: Where are the Offshore Service Margins when charging a credit card from overseas? It clearly shows on the transactions, they are setup in UK so legally should disclose the exchange rate and offshore margin that comes with that transaction. What currency was this charged at?
- Misleading and False Reviews: Under my Celebrant profile they claim I have 4 reviews. I got one job and made $50? Where did the 4 reviews come from? That is false advertising and misleading the consumer.
- Option to Auto topup or manual topup: You cannot manually topup when you want. I just keep getting charged each time my credit runs out, so no control for the business owner.
- Cancellation: There is no option or button to cancel. You have to contact them directly.
- Misleading/false advertising: Under my Graphic/Web Design profile, it says that I am an Elite Pro – that is false. And that's just the surface!

Contact your own relevant governing bodies for consumer law, commerce law, online consumer protection, credit card transaction regulations (like your bank).

Garbage and Scam
August 23, 2021

Please do not use this site. It is complete a scam and a waste of your time. I bought $600 credits and they gave me a free one month VIP. Instead of telling me that i would need to cancel, they charged me $74.95 per month for a waste of time. I never got a single job. Moreover, when I disputed the charges, they deleted my account. Complete fraud.
