With their keen "buy more save more" credit promotion, I spent too much on "points". The description says most jobs are 3 points, however, all mine have been 10-15. I did get a lead within a week, super excited! A party planner for a baby shower in chicago! My quote to her was around $2500 including decor, rentals and my fee. She came back and said she has a $500 budget and now I see its at a tiny park district South side of chicago. Very disappointing. I came here to check the credibility of Bark and after seeing all these terrible reviews, I wish I had no points left.

You are charged more for those who supposedly have asked you to contact them. (Why the f don't they just look up my website and contact me?) The poorest leads possible, too far away or no interest/like I'm bothering them - one even hung up on me... like are you kidding?
If your sell is high in price, this construct works. I'm paying around $25 per qualified lead/i. E. converts but I'm having to spend a ton of phone time selling because there's so my competition.
If you can learn how to adwords right, it's far better because by the time leads contact you, they want to buy for the most part and the cost per lead is far lower.
Customer service SUCKS. You have the chance to write a personal message to the prospect when you sign up for a lead. On multiple times bark.com's system has dropped me and blocked this. Customer service could give a $#*!.

I'm thankful I only shelled out $40 for referrals, but it only gave me 5 and they said it was supposed to be enough credits for 10 referrals, that was the first red flag; then I contacted all of the referrals that were given, and either the referral numbers were disconnected or just the wrong number, and the email addresses were fake. They are frauds.

Wasted Money

I paid $400 for around 20 leads from this site for photography leads. Majority of users had no idea why I am contacting them. They never agreed to be contacted.

Absolute SCAM of a Company
September 28, 2018

I joined to gain extra potential clients for photography.
This is one of the 'leads' BARK sent me and expected me to get all excited about and pay £10 to obtain details and phone number.
Obviously they do not check or verify any customers when I get a 'lead' from someone called 'HELLO' and every answer from them is a 'don't know' or 'not sure' on Bark's questionnaire.
Please see the photos of their email to me for proof of what a shoddy company this is.

Update To My First Bark Review...

I burned through the $211 of "credits", and contacted a total of 8 "clients" that were "interested" in my photography services and not one contacted me. I txted AND called... No responses. That is NOT possible... I've been in this business for years and it does NOT happen.

DO NOT SPEND MONEY AT BARK... COMPLETE SCAM.

100% Scam. Save Your Hard Earned $$

I was initially VERY reluctant about having to buy $211 of credits to communicate with potential "clients." I contacted Bark, explained that and they provided me 25 free credits to try, which I did with no business being generated. After those were gone I continued to get "client x" wants you to contact them... I spent the $211, responded to 5 "interested clients" so far and have received no responses... Not one. Not even a "thanks, however, we decided to go with someone else..." message.

What threw me was the Google ads Bark is running... When I search photographers in my area (I am a photographer), a Bark ad is displayed which I know from experience is not cheap to run... Soooo... I figured that Bark MUST be legit if they are paying for ads... They cant be... I've NEVER had so many potential clients not contact me back. The clients I deal with in photography are typically professional and polite. Non responses, particularly AFTER they express interest is VERY unusual.

I use Thumbtack as well and when I get a lead from them, it usually generates a job. I hate the fact that I fell for the Bark scam, however. I am always looking for new business and thought they would help. Unfortunately they are preying on small business owners.

Next stop for me is BBB to file a complaint, this is obviously a scam.

Ripoff

What was I thinking? I signed up, bought $180 worth of credits (at a 'discount'), and replied to several leads that needed exactly what I offer. One answered that they already found someone. The rest... crickets. Each lead costs anywhere from $18 to $30 to contact. That's absurd for leads that never respond or have already closed the opportunity. What a ripoff.

Unfortunately took me long enough to understand what's happening. Shame on them
And then, shame on me
Bought credits many times, wasted hard earned money
They just repeat the adds, most of the times people I contacted were surprised
Phoned them and requested to change their unfair and undocumented quotes, they said "we will consider your suggestions ". WHAT? I'm the one who s working! I'm the one who's paying!

As another review has said my experience Bark attracts low paying clients who will rarely if ever respond to offers you make. I would not give them any money again. Even a large agency for example would be better off pumping fun money into something like AdWords or Facebook than paying a premium for (not) pre-qualified leads which are really just people punching buttons to get something that possibly may want for a few quid. Not for professionals, and spammy solicitation approach to get providers on board to begin with, followed by a deluge of poorly filtered e-mails from fake "agents" trying to promote their (not your) skimming business.

Bark cater to an extremely low budget clients setting up false expectations of what they should pay. Bark.com solicit professionals but expect them to charge as amateurs and to give them a cut. Bark.com is telling their clients "what they should expect to pay" That 'payment' is an insult and a joke. Bark solicit professionals promising them work and "free" leads but once they send one "lead" practically a person who expects to hire you for minimum Bark.com is asking you to pay. If you value your work I recommend you don't sign with them.

A few days have passed since I bought credits for contact with service providers. I have submitted offers for all loans, I have not received any reply except the main information that the offer does not matter. I wrote to all sms but I did not receive the answer. I called, no one answered the phone. I have exhausted all the credits and decided to give up your offer and I am asking for a refund for credits as you promised during the previous correspondence, I have the impression that email addresses and phones are empty and closed. I can use your offer at another time and at a later date and for a moment I am asking for a refund.

I joined skillpages in june and it's been quite good. It works a bit like Thumbtack does. I used it to hire a painter for my flat and also a cleaner who comes once a month to give my place a good cleaning. I haven't witnessed any email problems as noted below, but i do see an option to invite contacts. I presume if u press this, it will email them like linkedin do, but i dont know.

They are probably a 3 or 4 star as it's not great yet, but it is near enough as good as the others for finding local people to do work

There will be more complaints on this matter, because the person who is proudly advertising this link, has hundreds of Google accounts, known by some interesting ridiculous names. You don't need to be smart to figure this is a scam, just review all of the social comments on the Google network.

The site Skillpages put me on blast when in fact I am a mother of several children and a hidding victim of DV. Skillpages put all my information online and I did not open any account with them and there is not way for me to reach them to have my profile removed. This is the evil and devils work of who ever is responsible for such a thing. Someone needs to go to jail for violating our rights to privacy like this and further victimizing me and my family. This site made contact with people on my list but I never opened an account with them I do have a relative Paula Jones who has victimized our family as well and I suggest she is responsible for all of this.

Joining Skillpages was an awful experience. I did not give them permission to email all my contacts and they did -- anyone who had ever been in contact with me on Gmail. Many of these people did not appreciate the solicitation from Skillpages that I did not authorize. Over 600 contacts most of whom I did not even know, were automatically contacted with solicitations.

What's FAR worse, though as yet unconfirmed, was that I was informed that those whom I contacted, had their contacts contacted.

This experience in any event was very embarrassing for me and can only have harmed my business relationships. I will have nothing further to do with Skillpages as a company.
