Scam
August 8, 2015

Within minutes not only do they charge you for the 14.95 they also take $1.00 out of your account. You can request the 14.95 back but this is still there. Said it would be 2-3 working days. I'll NEVER GO THROUGH them again. I want someone up, front and honest.

Not very organized
August 1, 2015

Have been a customer for years. My biggest complaint! They offer books, in a series and either don`t label it in a series or don`t label the number it is, in the series. Makes me mad when I buy an audio, only to discover, the one before it hasn`t been released to audio yet! Do I really have to google or go to goodreads, before I buy!

We have been trying to cancel this "free trial" unsuccessfully for over 3 months. What a joke.
Customer services promises to end it & then they try to bill our Discover account again & again... DO NOT do this free service unless you have dozens of hours to fight their unfair billing practices despite your timely cancellation... If you look at the other reviews, you will see all of the other people who have had the same experience that we had!

My son signed up for a "free" trial and like other reviewers, we didn't notice the charges. We too have paid a 14.95 charge for years, were not aware that we had this "membership" and have never gotten a single book. I can't help but think they do not make it as clear as they should that getting the "free" book will end up costing a lot. I am extremely unhappy with the company, and it will tarnish my feelings about Amazon as well. I'm out a lot of money, with no benefit and feel like I have been "scammed" - again like many other reviewers. I would think they would want to maintain better customer relations, but I guess making all that money off of unsuspecting, unwilling "members" pays for itself.

A con
July 25, 2015

I had no idea I was buying a subscription for a audio facility, thought payment was for the language downloads I wanted. The page is full of ads and cannot be read properly, £15 down the drain unless I can get my money back. Its taken me 2 full days to work it out, I've emailed Amazon now I'll try Audible.
The reason I fell for it in the first place is, that Pimsleur's site sells the 5 Arabic lessons in question for the same price. I just couldn't find their site at the time but I have now.

I have to say I was given a refund promptly (as soon as they received my complaint), so my view has changed to an extent. I still believe 'Audible' could be a little more clear about what they are offering because I'm not entirely sure even now.

This place is BS, I tried the trial version and I didn't use audible as much as I thought I would. I tried to cancel through the website and it eventually gave me an error message telling me that they were unable to process my cancellation. Then I call customer service to cancel my account and they said I already cancelled my account, I also noticed they already had charged my 14.95 fee and I have a credit on my account. I told them to please refund me my money since I didn't even use the service. They said its in their policy not to issue refund for accounts already cancelled. I let him know that the website said it couldn't process it and apparently it did. So he had suggested to start up an account for 7.95 and then I can use the credit I have on my account. I am cancelling this account because I didn't use it. Why would I pay an EXTRA $7.95 plus the 14.95 already take from me to use a credit. DO NOT USE THIS BS $#*! SERVICE. I'm escalating this problem.

I would not recommend audible to my worst enemy. Tried the free trial and had so many issues with both the application and then subsequent customer service issues within the first half hour that I canceled my account, and did not even care about using my free credits. I cannot believe that Amazon is associated with this abortion of a company.

Audible is a great company! I love it great service! If people would be responsible adults and read it says clearly after the 30 day free trial you will be charged! People calling it a scam this just cracks me up like really?

I've been an audible member for years and 3 months ago I changed my membership plan to "not enrolled" because I don't wish to pay for a monthly credit. Guess what happened? They still keep billing me every month. I've also read other complaints about this scam company Audible and everyone is in the same boat. Someone need to take legal action against Audible.

My 15 year old signed up for a 'free trial'. They dinged us $15 a month now for 17 months before we noticed and I asked here what this was. We didn't get a single book, and she's only 15, so how is she expected to remember to cancel a FREE membership?

It is scammy, and I'm staying away. Also, if they were on the up and up, they would offer a free membership and then if you liked it, you could sign up for a paid membership. But that's not easy money for them. Oh, and they won't refund you more than a few months, by the way...

I received an email from Audible yesterday that unless I upgrade my Android OS, I will be unable to access any of the content I have purchased on that device.

Two problems.

1) They have no possible right to mandate what OS version I choose to use.

2) I'm already at the highest OS - so I'm fully expecting to be cut off - for no reason.

Given this - and my years of miserable experiences with the worst customer service I've ever encountered - I decided to simply download my library to my tablet, and be done.

First problem. Audible no longer allows me to download the books I'VE PURCHASED to an SD card. After 7 calls with incompetent - and in one case, extremely rude - customer services reps, I've decided I've had enough.

Second problem. The Audible app is all but useless. It generally takes 10-20 tries to start a download. About half of those are interrupted. And the download speed? About 7 hours to download 5 gigs of content.

I may lose some of the titles I'VE PURCHASED. But you know? It's worth it. There was a time when Audible was the only game in town. Happily, that's no longer the case. They have competition. And I'll give my business to companies that have at least a modicum of competency.

I've been an audible platinum customer for 8 years.

I received notice today at 2:26pm, that it will be terminating support of the Audible application for iOS 6 the following day.

Ok, fine. It has every right to do so. But, REALLY... if Audible.com cared about customer service. It would give people more notice. At least a month in advance so they can make other arrangements.

I give Audible.com a very BAD rating for customer service..

Audible customer service has become so bad I had to cancel my membership. My last 8 audio purchases were not downloading and after hours in chat, email and phone I just gave up. They can't or won't fix the problem, don't respond to emails and don't seem to care that high user customers cancel their longterm membership. Thanks to all the reviewers for the heads up - I'll be cancelling my credit card and my Amazon account and never using either company again.

Customer Refunds
June 11, 2015

I was extremely impressed with the refund process that I experienced with this company. I had enrolled in the 30 day free trial, but then noticed when money was being withdrawn from my account per month after about 5 months. I called them to resolve the issue and cancel the membership, and they assisted me without any hassle. I was fully refunded and my membership cancelled. If you read a lot of books or travel often, I recommend signing up with audible.

It is excellent!
June 5, 2015

For anyone who drives a lot and wishes to avoid radio drivel, who has poor or fading eyesight, for reading options on aircraft or lying on a beach I enjoy Audible which is now my constant source of entertainment. Indeed I am in danger of becoming well read as the non fiction has some wonderful books which I would not otherwise buy.
I have not had any of the problems complained of in this Blog - though it is too easy to be signed up to two accounts if you do not read the information pages carefully. Keep the titles coming - it is a quite excellent service.

HEY AUDIBLE! It took another bad review from me to get you off the dime and when it did you graciously allowed me to access my library. You know, the library I PAID FOR! There was another library on my account and that's my grandson's. CONNERWEBB is his user name and I can give you his password.
AGAIN... I can't remember our telephone number some TEN YEARS BACK... nor can I remember our email address from that long ago as they've been change several times since then.
My grandson's name is CONNER hence the user name connerwebb. That's CONNERWEBB. I spell phonetically CHARLIE OSCAR NOVEMBER NOVEMBER ECHO ROMEO WHISKEY ECHO BRAVO BRAVO!
I can provide his password as well since I established that for him myself.
GET OFF THE DIME YOU CLOWNS YOU'RE JOB'S ONLY ABOUT HALF DONE.
Judging by the reviews on SiteJabber you're circling the drain while behaving as though security is all you're about.
I repeat. Amazon bought you to eliminate you as a competitor. You're being allowed to die on the vine. Amazon's too cheap to keep your software developed to stay compatible with any OS more recent than XP! What that means for us is a Cold Boot whenever we download any of the content in our library because our computers will be LOCKED UP AND THE CONTENT WILL HAVE TO BE IMPORTED MANUALLY!
AGAIN, THE LIBRARY YOU'RE KEEPING MY GRANDSON OUT OF IS CONNERWEBB AND AGAIN, I CAN PROVIDE HIS PASSWORD.
HOW ABOUT IT? Are you going to pretend to give a rat's $#*! or actually do something to help my grandkid out?
