The folks at Assurance Wireless are inept. They bearly speak English & hang up after being long holds.
Phone sucks because can't type anyting keyboard doesn't use the word you are typing. The phone dies off within an hour. The phone doesn't get any Towers nearby. I never get to use it. That blows.

Ask to speak to a supervisor you get a supervisor that contradicts information and you hear all the people laughing in the background like it's a big joke cuz you're having a problem and you can't seem to get a phone that you've been approved for since September 24th I don't get it I just never ever seen such bad response to these people then they said they get into big that they can't handle the calls and everybody wants a phone from assurance wireless maybe they should just stop advertising for assurance wireless if they can't handle it. So unprofessional! If Jenn and Steve are supervisor in office with laughing in background. They are so disrespectful.
They give you a phone with such $#*!ty service that you are forced to pay for service, what's the point of issuing free service if it don't work, government is just wasting taxpayer money with this program.
So far, on Wednesday I happened to see a tent with Assurance Lifeline reps (after trying to find out where they would be located for two weeks to no avail). They had a sign that read, "Get a Free Phone Today." So, after applying, I'm told it takes 1-3 business days to verify that I'm telling the truth about being 61 and poor with two children on food stamps. I return on Saturday. The rep used the address from my EBT letter since I recently moved, have no car, and can't get to the DMV to change the address (even though they obtain your SSN). After a couple of hours, we leave with the the phone on and working. I used the Lifeline service for two days. About 30 minutes ago (Monday), I receive a text stating, "You are no longer eligible for Lifeline service." So, I called the number and have been hung up on 6 times in a row. Luckily, I read reviews prior to getting the phone and spent half the money I had obtaining a Verizon phone to use during this expected inconvenience. Nothing has changed since Saturday so how was I eligible on Saturday but not the following Monday?
I could not answer phone. It would not send text messages. They sent me the same kinda phone 3 times and it never work. Oh then try to get a hold of a person to talk to may as well talk to the wall
I am the recipient of assurance wireless Free phone service... Sent me a phone that has No working WiFi. No One knows who powers it. Metro Tmobile say its not there service. Assurance say its powered by Metro Tmobile. Used all the data in 15 minutes downloading apps cause the wifi wont work. I HATE U BOTH ASSURANCE WIRELESS & METRO TMOBILE! U Both SUCK for poor customer service & for transferring back & forth for 1hr 53 minutes. Still No Resolve!
I had a problem to activate the phone.
I switched because my Samsung always had bead reception up to switching to voicemail not matter where I was. It never rang anymore. Text messages with delay... phone sound quality bad... just annoying all over.
So I got their model CP3320AS2 that is lightly larger than the Samsung. I followed activation instructions but at one step this instruction are different from what the screen shows so I guess that is where I messed up.
Restarted and tried the phone... did not call the number I put in but went straight to Assurance Customer Service! How about that? Ok, Let's talk then. So I rather quickly had a real life person on the phone that had a strong accent from India. Well... my accent is German... I had to focus.
After a short moment the CSR told me to reboot my phone. I did and my phone was activated and in working condition.
THe phone is so much better than my crappy Samsung, it received calls and rings! No more Voicemail as default! But what is way better is that the quality of the sound at phone calls is now clear and crisp.
I have NOTHING to complain! Maybe I am the silent majority?
Worst company ever. They are PROUD of the fact that they seem untouchable but THEY ARE NOT! THEY aremaffiliated with Virgin/Boost mobile (per assurance rep) but V/B won't even acknowledge that. I am on my FIFTH phone (same P. O. S. UMX phone) and it's the same defect EVERY time. FILE A COMPLAINT WITH USAC.GOV, they are the governing body of the lifeline program. I live in Texas and there is also a separate division for my state and registered a complaint with them also. I am ready to SUE THEM FOR BREACH OF GOVERNMENT CONTRACT, anyone want to join in and make it a class action suit? I have been without service for about 3 months of the 8 I have been with them because of either waiting for phone or the phone stops working. I can only make calls using Google assistant now and can't call 911 at all as GA won't do that. I had to call a few days ago, in fact, and had to hunt a neighbor down to do it! Garbage company with reps that lie (I keep hearing that this is the only phone available but on rep slipped up and said there were 2 others so someone is lying to me. Bottom line, for the crappiest equiptment and the crappiest service call assurance wireless where they assure you that you will end up cursing them and hating them
I had some legal issues with my guardian, George Heitmanis, in MI. Without Assurance Wireless I would have nothing. I had to contact several govt agencies in order to get my belongings (I mean necessities, clothes and glasses); without Assurance Wireless this would not have been possible. Give credit where credit is due... without this phone company I would be nude and legally blind. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.
Despite tell the rep that my mother is unable to navigate a smart phone, a smart phone was sent out. On receiving the smart phone, I called to remind them that at 96 years old, she is unable to use a smart phone. The customer service rep (who was in the Philippines) was very pleasant and assured me that an exchange would be done. Three weeks later, having not heard from them, I called once more. Again I got a rep based in the Philippines who was very cordial and assured me that this would be taken care of. There did not appear to be any notes as to my request for a simpler phone. She asked how I could be contacted in the event the call disconnected. The call did disconnect but no one called me back.
The Assurance phone system is a nightmare and impossibly frustrating. So after several calls I finally spoke to Manuel in technical services who told me that before the exchange can be arranged the phone has to be activated. I am waiting for that dept to call me to proceed with the activation
I sincerely hope that the Assurance management team read these reviews and put in place procedures and processes to improve their service. For instance, it should be standard practice to ask customers over the age of 80 whether or not they would like a smart phone. What is the point of sending out a client a Lifeline that they cannot use?
The only reason I gave 1 star is because the phone was free! This is the worst phone company in history! I've been waiting a month just to get my service switched over to the unlimited plan. No one ever calls you back and the representatives are useless! They all tell you the same thing but never really help with your issue. I hate this service and will never use it again!
1st phone volume low, could not adjust. 2nd phone factory installed app with virus attached; could not remove. 3rd phone seem to have mind of its own; i press one number and five may apply, sometimes info input just by looking at it. TAXPAYER WASTE AGAIN!
Ordered replacement phone, agent stated I was eligible for an upgrade 2 weeks ago waited and never received said phone. Contacted customer service and they said I am not eligible for the free upgrade after I've been waiting 2 weeks with NO PHONE. Never sent a letter or email to notify me of this change. Refused to send a replacement phone or help me in anyway. ZERO STARS DO NOT RECCOMEND. They are liars.

Assurance sets a 4 # passcode to unlock. Upon entering it, the phone declined it. They walk u thru factory reset, that fails. They say, send phone back and we'll send another. Same exact problem with the 2nd phone. They told me they set unlock pw to prevent it falling into wrong hands. YET, they don't maintain accurate records as to what that pw is. Now, 3rd phone is mailed without a 4# ps set by them. Yay. I can access phone. NOW, its months trying to get them to activate it and they tell me I didn't activate it in the allotted 30 days so I must start the process over. I asked, how can I use it when you havent even activated it. I cant call out, get calls, send texts, open internet; it goes straight to the phone company's customer service. It's been since June 2021 and today is Sept 2nd and still no phone. Upon calling them, they're customer service rep resides in Costa Rica. Dont waste you time and our tax $$$$. Somehow the govt should be educated of this scam. 3 phones at probably already 40 dollars each and they say we'll send a fourth. What a joke! Shame on this company and any mobile service carrying them!
I referred a friend who has already used the phone for eight months. But I have never got $10 Amazon coupon. I asked them so many times about this issue. They never follow up and solve it. Until now I have another issue of the EBB plan that I have enrolled for two months, but it still not activate. It really wasted my time to called them every day and they always said it's in process, they also guaranteed someone would call me in 15 minutes. Finally, no one call me at all. Wow~ I can not believe they such fooled the customer with extremely unsatisfied service. That's meant I lost all these benefits and made me a lot of stress frustration.

Answer: No they only have 1 phone, a UMX. They don't work you can't even call Costomer Service with it.
