My membership costs about $40, and within the course of it, it usually pays itself off. Between my parents ordering electronics, my brother getting books and me ordering whatever I feel like, we use a lot of free shipping. The reliability and speed are so nice, because if you order from Prime, you never have to worry about the quality. What you pay for is what is promised. If it's cheap, it's cheap. If you paid more, it's usually good.
Sometimes it even gives cool discounts. I got my hard drive half off, shaving off $50, paying off the price of the membership immediately.
I've bought tons of stuff and any problems (which are rare) are dealt with MORE than fairly in my experience. Great customer service. Sure, it would be nice to have a phone number prominently posted on the web site and a person to answer as soon as the phone rings. I'd like to live to 200 too. But as things go here on earth, Amazon.com earns an A+.

The problem with buying from Amazon is that it is like to proverbial box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.
The last item I purchased as fulfilled by Amazon. It was a gift for a grandchild. It arrived beat to crap and back. Very poorly packaged.

For the most part my experience has been good. I know hard-to-find items will be on Amazon. It's been a learning experience for sure. I've learned never buy before reading reviews, especially the 1 ratings. If it's a $15 item for $5, it's going to be cheaply made and useless. Not everything is cheaper on Amazon or worth getting by delivery. Make sure you really want the item or it's worth paying to return if you hate it. Having Amazon Prime is totally worth the membership if you make regular purchases and watch a lot of online shows/movies. Finally, Amazon Prime gives you free shipping but NOT free returns. Some of the lessons were painful but not enough to give up purchasing. I'm hooked for life.

Literally, what can you NOT find on amazon? I shop here mostly for books, which are much cheaper than they are at any local bookstore. I also sometimes get clothes and gifts from here. Usually takes 1-3 days longer to deliver than predicted, but I know to account for that by now. I have never received anything damaged or of lower quality than described by sellers.
I have never had a bad experience with Amazon. If you get a bad product, or just not what you were expecting, returning product is simple and easy. If they have your product available, I would recommend using them.

Ever have a cashier ask you that question? There was always something you couldn't find but instead of stating the items not found, we typically just smile and say yes. When it comes to Amazon, I always smile and say a resounding "yes" because it's true!
I sincerely hope Amazon never fixes what isn't broken becauses they're that good. I used to work for AOL back in the day and I can safely say that there are a few things users want... enough 'white space' not clutter their screen... convenience (one stop shopping)... and ease of use (navigation, as few "clicks" as possible, etc). Amazon has that, and more.
I do the majority of my Chrismas shopping on Amazon and even orders placed a couple of days before the holiday have arrived at my door in time to wrap and place under my tree. I've purchased everything from makeup to food items, electronics to kitchen gadgets, and more. And the couple of times when I did have to return something and didn't have a printer, they sent me a label via the good old USPS.

Answer: This problem began when Amazon Market Place started up and when I saw how bad it was with sellers selling at 3 to 4 times the full retail price at other online stores, it was a hint for me to stop supporting Amazon Market Place. If its sold by Amazon, I might buy it but I do my utmost to find a lower price so I don't have to buy it from Amazon. More often than not Bestbuy or Staples has it for the same or lower price. Bought an Asus RT AC 5300 from Bestbuy for 500 Canadian and it doesn't sell for less at Amazon. Returns are no hassle 30 day returns and no shipping just take it to a local retail store and that saves the wrapping and shipping.
