I was around for the inception of Amazon and all of this online store stuff. I saw many fail and a few succeed. One, who succeeded bigtime was Amazon. Brilliant management? I thought so. Then he/they started to wander into territory that does not concern them, ideology and world retail domination. At that point I focused on Allibris for books and have been quite happy with a book store that is a book store.

My only nit-picky complaint is that one of the rarer books from a small seller was canceled (which put my underneath the promo code value that I deliberately reached) and so I was only refunded the shipping cost of that book. When I feel like the promo code should have been divided evenly among all applicable books of my order.

Ordered 3 books, 3 different providers. Two arrived within a few days, but the 3rd not for 10 days. But I did receive prompt and caring response from customer service when I inquired about the delay, and the quality of all 3 books was at least as advertised. So, great prices, great quality - but sometimes shipments take a while.
