Alibris enjoys a generally positive reputation among customers, particularly for its wide selection of used books at competitive prices and reliable shipping. Many customers appreciate the timely delivery and the ability to track orders, contributing to overall satisfaction. However, concerns arise regarding the variability in book conditions, with some items not meeting expectations, and delays in shipping for urgent needs. Additionally, the separate shipping fees for each book can deter purchases. Despite these issues, the platform remains a favored choice for many due to its extensive inventory and user-friendly website.

Easy to order. Have used Alibris in the past and have been very satisfied.

I usually find all the books I would like. I have found some vary HARD to Find books. Always quick; all materials as described
Accurate description, well-packaged, timely delivery. Overall, very satisfactory.
So far, it's simple. I'm waiting to see the book. Except the requirement to insert "at least 50 characters" is silly and a waste of time.
Better prices than Amazon, and a wider range of sellers. No trick results in searches.
Meets all expectations.
Customer for years, rare problems are quickly resolved.
Aside from the site look dating from 1996, most of the process is fine. A couple of things: we should be able to set a preference for book condition, so we don't have to keep resetting every time we search a book. And it would be nice to be able to "ban" certain sellers from our search results. I'm sick of HPB and Thrift Books clogging up the search results with 20 copies of the same book, making slight changes to the store address, so it looks like 20 different stores, when it's not. Finally, it would be great if posting the tracking number for shipments was mandatory. Too many of them just plug the invoice number in that box. I can't keep track of the shipment if the number isn't there.
HPB has drowned out legitimate independent sellers. It clogs the item lists with "shipments" from various "stores" it owns, but in fact, those "stores" all ship from the same warehouse. I know this because I once emailed one of its stores a question about a book, and the reply was that they couldn't check on any particular book because they're all shipped from a warehouse.
The service from alibris has been seriously degraded as a result. I wish you would do something about it.
Always a pleasure to deal with reputable cites and the comments are an extra.
Answer: Let's just say, they advertise falsely. They misrepresent what they are selling. Buyer beware.
Answer: Hi Dennis, That depends on where the seller is located and where your deliver address is as well. Generally, shipments within the States are delivered within a week or so, though holiday shipping might slow down a bit. If you send us the details with your order number in an email to [email protected] we can look into the specifics for you. Thank you for writing. Michael B. Alibris Customer Service
Answer: Hi Valerie, If you have had a problem with your Visa or PayPal transactions on our site, please let us know the details at [email protected] so that we can investigate for you. Thank you for your question. Michael B. Alibris Customer Service
Answer: HI Zoila, Delivery timeframes within the States are usually between 3 and 8 days, but it depends on where the seller is that is shipping the item to you. If you have already placed an order, please contact us at [email protected] with your order details and we can investigate for you. Thank you for writing. Michael B. Alibris Customer Service
Answer: Really Michael, contact you directly? Why should we have to. There is a bad trend here. Seems MANY of us contact you and you DONT respond
Answer: I saw the fake stellar reviews and did not dig deeper. I til... I had an issue. Initially, I wanted to give a small seller some business after COVID and the site looked really good. What a big mistake that was! Shame on this outfit.
