This is the worst app I have ever used for tutoring it is going to make me fail this course and put me behind a whole year in college. If you get too many wrong it will make you stop and change topics which does not help at all when trying to learn something. It will time you out after 10 minutes and I have been in the middle of a long problem and will have to start all over again. It touches on random topics and will jump around making it difficult to retain information. It will also add a point if you get two answers correct in a row but then make you start all over again if you get one wrong making you redo 5 problems again. I absolutely hate this app and hope I never have to use it ever again. I got one problem wrong in the photo below and now have to redo 5 problems and it is the very last topic I need to complete the class in order to take the final. I hate this app and it ruined my first summer in college I hope no one ever spends money on this company again.
If a pedofile was an app it wold be this app. Makes me want to baith is gas then ligh a ciggaret and blow up. If i was a dev at MIGRAWHILL or migralHELL i wold shut the whole thing doun.
There are so many flaws with this platform. It literally stops your progression if you do not dot complete what it thinks you need. ALEKS study material is completely different than the class and you waste hours of study time trying to figure out what it needs. I have seen the platform analyze my questions incorrectly. I needed a chemistry class and made a mistake signing up for this class at UND for this class. And there simply is ZERO assistance with this junky platform!
I am a junior-year biomedical science major. I have used Aleks multiple times throughout my college time. Every time that I use it I have trouble. This program is the worst! The explanations are terrible, do not help, and contradict what we do in class. Also, some of the answers differ from how I learned them in my class. Learning things incorrectly does not help me on my in-classroom exams! Aleks takes off for every little thing, I accidentally added an extra space in between an answer, marking me off. It makes it very difficult to get my homework and the reviews done when Aleks makes it difficult to understand or get the work done. I'm considering seeking legal counsel against this program because it's counteractive to any learning environment.
When it comes to the program, Aleks, and their style of teaching, they tend to over explain methods in a way that confuses the learner. Additionally, when signifying information, they don't do it very clearly. I'm left with directions I was TAUGHT and applied it to the problem, then get it incorrect because they simply signify information wrong. I forgot to mention that, they give you methods for one scenario and don't mention that other method when faced with a similar problem that requires a different strategy to answer.
ALEKS is a bad learning site. The interface for ALEKS is really ugly. The explanations are very vague and don't give good examples. The explanations don't explain a lot of things that they do. They write the explanation and expect you to know how to do the work. The knowledge checks are horrible. I finish a pie slice and I have to do a knowledge check. In the knowledge check, I loose topics and have to redo some topics I just did. And there is a lot of topics that are very similar to each other, each topic takes a very long time.
Aleks just sets you up to fail assignments. My professor uses this website for homework, and the website makes me not want to do it. I have gotten so many points taking it off, just because I do not put a period behind my answer. This website is that meme of college where the answer is wrong because there is not a period at the end of the answer.
I was required to use this program for my school in order to pass my chem and math classes. It has taught me both in the most ineffective and aggravating way possible. It does a very poor job of teaching me how I'm supposed to solve a question by demonstrating an easy one and then giving me one to do one my own that is ALWAYS 10x harder. Not only that but when I get it wrong it doesn't explain to me what's wrong and punishes me by moving me further back in the module. Not to mention that there are over 300 modules for both classes. The way that this stupid program not only wastes my time but just doesn't teach me anything useful. I would have a much more fun and effective learning experience watching a video on YouTube than doing anything from this program. Anyway literally caused me to cry multiple times and I wish schools didn't make their students use this program when there are a plethora of better options.
This website is the worst program I have ever seen in my life! The explanations are terrible and make you suffer! This website drains the mind as well as the soul. Never have I ever hated a website SO MUCH! This is far worse than a waste of time, ALEKS makes you age. If you get even one problem wrong you have to get two or even three to make up for it. It is worse than all other forms of torture combined and was created by demons to drain the souls of humans. This is absolutely unacceptable to use ALEKS can take multiple hours to complete and ounce you finish a topic there is no reward and the topic can even come up again during the severely annoying knowledge checks. One knowledge check will mess up your entire pie! All that hard work just gone! The people who gave more than minimum of stars are beyond mentally derranged. DO NOT GET ALEKS, IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY!
As a student who has used ALEKS for 3 years now, ALEKS. Is absolutely terrible. I gave this a 4-star review so that teachers looking for actual reviews would see this, so, here's an actual review.
ALEKS has caused so much pain and suffering to me and my fellow students. We hate ALEKS. I don't think we'd mind it as much if it was for extra credit, however, it's for a grade, and doing ALEKS is terrible - for 2 main reasons:
1. ALEKS does a terrible job of explaining topics. ALEKS really just gives you a formula or a vague rule and expects you to master it instantly. Unfortunately, that's not how humans learn; maybe AI, but not humans.
For me, I see many math teachers teaching things that don't matter in the real world, and that's fine. Theoretical mathematics and things that never really apply to everyday life can be really cool - but many teachers ruin it by never explaining why things work, and ALEKS doesn't either. Knowing why things happen in maths, at least for my friends and I, is very important to learning the material. I always want to know as much as I can, but ALEKS never fully explains its topics.
2. At least/especially for me, class interaction and asking questions in class is an incredibly critical part of learning. Just hearing and responding to others' stances and understandings of material is incredibly interesting, and can really affect how I think of something. With ALEKS, there is no interaction. There is a computer telling you a formula or rule, and that computer will tell you if you used that formula or rule correctly or not. There are no other stances or understanding. There is but a bright light dystopia and a suffering student. I've seen so many friends' and classmates' passion for math absolutely ruined by ALEKS and bad teachers.
Since I'm not a teacher, I don't know if it's being required by the state I live in (Ohio), but whatever body mandates and regulates this stuff should really reconsider having this as a part of student education. Every teacher that can, please, for everyone's sake, do not assign ALEKS.
And to any student suffering through ALEKS as I have, best of luck.
Aleks is a poopy waste of time that nobody likes. It is very glitchy, and I will answer the question exactly right, but it will mark it wrong. Like I mentioned before, POOPY. I wasted 3 years on this crap.
Why do you guys give us hard work? We already suffer from other things! DO YOU GUYS WANT US TO SUFFER?!
This is the most garbage math website. I have to do these Aleks topics for school, and I would rather fall off a cliff than do these. When you get a problem wrong, they don't explain in detail how you got it wrong or how to fix it, they basically just say you got this wrong and make you spend more time on one topic. If I am forced to do 8 Aleks topics a week by my school, I am easily going to be spending 1 to 2 hours a day doing these topics. I wish that Aleks didn't exist so I could spend my time doing more important things in life. If you are a teacher reading this, please don't make your students do Aleks or stop making them do Aleks topics. It is truly fresh hell to have to sit and do these every week.
Golly gee willikers, I find the explanations easy and simple to understand and I get quite "Lost in the sauce" when doing ALEKS ( I lose sense of time and math is the only thing on my mind.) I just understand the content so I may find it easier than others but the UI is easy (for me at least) to navigate, and I find the lessons helpful as you master them to understand the content.
I have used ALEKS for 3 years now, and when you spend 45 minutes on one problem, you click turn in and it says, Session Timed Out! It really makes you want to get a 9mm handgun and blow your head off. Or when you use the commutative property like it says, and it says you got it wrong because of the commutative property, it just makes you want to drown yourself in the school toilet. Aleks changed my life for the worst. I spent 4 hours on one topic just for a knowledge check to come around and I have to redo it. ALEKS made me cry in bed and in the shower. It made me question my life. 100% recommend it if you are considering suicide. It kills your grade then kills happiness. If I spend another year on aleks I will shoot myself.
Whoever created the company that is called ALEKS, oh wait let me rephrase that, whoever created the hellscape that is ALEKS can go die in a whole. I really don't care who it is. It could be a mentally disable 3 year old, I really would not care at all. I mean Joe Biden could even agree with me that ALEKS is too hard for him. I am calling Kim Jong Un to blow up ALEKS headquarters, thank you for reading this.
When I was doing my homework I clicked on the right answer then it says I clicked somewhere else while the real answer I clicked was correct. All, in all, ALEKS sucks.
Worst program i've ever used. Poorly set up, marks correct answers wrong, and punishes student for answering wrong by literally deleting their past correct answers. ON HOMEWORK. Clearly not to actually teach math but to create busy work for lazy teachers
ALEKS makes me want to make two suns collide, which would then create a supernova causing the entire Solar system to collapse.
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
