It gives a crappy and poorly written explanations on how to do something, then just makes you do it. Aleks is easily the most stressful thing my son has had to do. Worse, his school makes it mandatory to do a certain amount of 'topics' every week. But if you spend too much time on it, it will force you to do a 'knowledge check' which can take up to an hour while also preventing your kid from completing these 'topics'.

I hope when the creator of Aleks steps on a leaf it doesn't crunch.
I hope he steps on a Lego barefoot
I hope every time he goes to take a big fat piss there is never any toilet paper left
I hope none of his dreams ever come true.
I hope he has nightmares about the kids he's torturing with this program every night
I hope all the kids that used aleks go back to haunt him after he dies
I hope everytime he goes to do an aleks topic that hes almost done with, he gets a small thing wrong and it restarts him
I hope everytime he goes to eat a slice of pizza the tomato sauce is still burning hot and it burns his mouth
ISTG IF I SEE THIS EVIL, WICKED, DEMONIC, MALEVOLENT GUY ON THE STREETS I WILL JUMP HIM AND THEN MAKE HIM DO AS MANY ALEKS LESSONS AS I CAN
ALEKS MAKES ME FEEL EMO

I'm in college with a chemistry class that uses this for homework, and it's the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced. If you don't know the subject for home work, it can take you hours—not just 1 or 2 but 3 to 6—and learning from this system is terrible. How can you learn when you hate the system with a passion? Wrong questions take points, and the point system is how to finish home work, so if you keep getting one right and one wrong, you'll be stuck forever. Once it tells you it's wrong, it tells you how to do it with a generic trash sample question that might not even work for the particular question. If I paid $100+ to rent an e-book (so dumb), you better use the question I got wrong as an example. It's the worst way to learn possible, and I don't understand why colleges use this garbage. Drop the class that uses this and find another professor.

No class was as hard as my single trigonometry class that used ALEKS. I am a CS student and math nerd who has taken everything from basic college algebra to calc. III and even discrete math, yet none of those classes were as hard as my trig class. And that is purely thanks to ALEKS.

I don't even know where to begin with this software. Its interface is horribly designed and is confusing and frustrating to navigate. I spent almost ten hours in my trig class trying to get used to it.

I also spent almost 30 hours a week in ALEKS for 7 weeks straight trying to finish my topics and get a good grade. I had to get five questions right in a row in each trig topic, and I had 70 topics along with 10 knowledge checks I needed to finish in 7 weeks. I have never been slammed with homework so hard in any other math class before or after, not even discrete math. I only got an A in my Trig class thanks to doing well on my midterm and final, which were paper and pencil and not in ALEKS, thank the gods. And that's when the damn thing works, which it only does half the time.

ALEKS was constantly crashing and glitching on me. Buttons would appear and disappear for no reason, textboxes and images floated in the ether where I couldn't see them, ALEKS sometimes calculated the wrong answer, and sessions would disconnect for no reason. I lost multiple hours of progress on several occasions thanks to this piece of garbage software disconnecting at the last minute. And all of this costed me an eye-gouging $100. The fact that this software ships in such a broken and buggy state with such a high price tag is insane.

No student should have to go through the hell that is ALEKS. If you are a teacher, professor, or a university or school administrator, please for the sake of your wallets and sanity choose anything else over this. Make your students and staff use pencil and paper if you have to, but don't use this. Stay away from this software. It is not even worth 5$ in the buggy, broken, and immense waste of time that it is, much less the outrageous price tag I had to pay for my college trig class. Your students will suffer needlessly if you make them use this software. I can promise you that.

The ALEKS system is completely useless in teaching me math. The amount of time I've spent on a single topic is absurd. Every time you get a problem wrong it takes a point away (you need a total of 5 points to finish a topic) so I will go back in forth between getting a problem right and receiving a point and then losing a point on the next question. I swear I've spent 20+ minutes on a single topic because of this system and it's so frustrating and makes me hate math more than I already do. I paid around $100 dollars for this program at my college and it's absolutely aggravating that I'm paying for a program that doesn't help me learn at all. I am also required to spend 5 hours a week working on math through ALEKS which is absolutely insane since I have other classes to work on. Overall this program is absolute garbage and explains how to do the problems poorly. When I attempt to get more context on the "more" tab it doesn't even help. I'm so fed up with this program and I'm happy to see other people agree.

If I could give this 0 stars, I absolutely would. In no way is replacing professors or teachers with this terrible program effective. I've passed chemistry classes and physics classes. I've been forced against my will to take this ALEKS program for Algebra, and it is somehow HARDER than chemistry and physics. And I will tell you why that is! It's because this program has set standards that aren't even possible for an average person to achieve. I went to my department of mathematics, made a meeting, and I asked them, "How can I study 60 topics for an exam in one week?" And their response? It's worse than you think. They said, "You can't review all 60 topics for the exam unless you're unemployed and this is your only course." They told me DIRECTLY that it is not possible to study all 60 topics before the exam in a week's notice. This program has made my mental health probably 20 times worse. I have never wanted to scream, cry, and throw up as much as I have wanted to while working on ALEKS.

If I could give this a zero I would. The interface is confusing, and many of the tools are hard to use. They do not even show what using them in real life is like, and just on a computer screen. The most annoying thing though is when you get a question wrong, it subtracts points, and you need to do many questions to prove you know a topic. Overall, this is not a good program and is a total waste of money and energy.

Kill me
April 30, 2023

This program seems designed to make you feel like an idiot. Multiple times this garbage has made me cry. The vast majority of the time it either doesn't help you in the slightest or just blatantly gives wrong answers. If you are a schoolteacher considering using this problem, don't. The only thing this program actually does well is encourage cheating. I have spent so much time and energy on learning to cheat the system rather than learn its bull crap methods that frequently contradict themselves in the same explanation. If you are a school who let themselves get tricked into using this junk I'm sorry to say it but you have scammed and I recommend you do whatever you can to get back any money you may have spent on this because trust me your students would get more educational value from watching your money burn than this waste of talent. If you need a replacement I recommend prodigy since it actually teaches you how to do problem's correctly and keep your students attention at the same time.

Aleks is a website used by math teachers, but little do they know, we hate it! It's not specific and it's boring! I do not recommend using aleks to teach your students unless you want your students to hate you! On top of that, there are many ways for a student to cheat on Aleks, so is it really helping them? NO! Aleks is awful! I can comfirm that I have used this awful site and know from experience. When my math teacher found out people could cheat, he got a list of all the students that have cheated and it was 98% of the class! Don't use Aleks guys!

This is literally the worst learning tool and experience of all time. It's genuinely so tedious, painful, and useless. The knowledge check takes forever, the explanations are too complicated and convoluted to help at all, you're punished for getting a single answer wrong, and you're unable to actually do your assigned work until the god awful, useless knowledge checks are done. I have never spent more time learning less than I do doing Aleks. I hate this website, I dread it every day, and I cannot imagine a worse website interface. Everything loads so slowly and they are somehow not able to figure out how to code a sticky bar so every time you open the data tab and select a section it jumps your back to the top. So you get to scroll all the way down again. Its also incredibly ugly. I hate this website man. I'm in a college course as a junior in a high school and the only truly terrible part is this website.

Wrong calculations
April 19, 2023

I am a student at a prestigious school. The Aleks program has given me the wrong calculations in the most straightforward 7th-grade topic, absolute value. It said that the answer of absolute value was a negative number. (Absolute value is always positive) This misleading information has made me struggle in mathematics. I suggest re-checking the answers to help other students succeed. At all costs DO NOT get this program for any school or learning.

Now i'm in first year high school and we are supposed to complete 70 topics by the end of the month every month. I've cried so many times and my friends have too because it's so useless and it doesn't teach you anything but how bad of a mistake your math teacher made to spend money on this trash website. IT SHOULD BE FREE FOR GOODNESS SAKE CUZ ITS SO USELESS. Waste of time i could've spent studying. I'm failing algebra because my teacher only relies on some stupid website.

ALEKS is the best math program on the market! It takes students hours to complete, as well as making students want to k*ll themselves. If you want to die, just log on and do a few topics. This will greatly increase your willingness to jump off a bridge. It also cured my happiness! I love how the creators of ALEKS were trying to simulate Auschw*tz for kids!

Absolutely terrible
April 17, 2023

I would rather get kicked in the balls by Bruce lee than use this "program". It is an absolute abomination to the world and my friends nicknamed it the child molester and I agree completely. I would rather watch paint dry blind than use this. Helen Keller could do a better job at designing something. I truly think Ryan from Ryan's world and jake the pirate could make a better math program. It is from hell itself and might just go there just to get my hands around the throat of the person who made this.
