I've had AHS for two years now (originally a gift from my agent upon closing). Every time I have had an issue, they have completely let me down. They don't care about their customers and follow a basic process. If something doesn't fit into that process, there is no customer service to help rectify. (There is actually no customer service number, you have to call the sales line and keep saying representative to speak to anyone and then all they will do is check your status.) They blame the contractors and say it's out of their hands, but they don't actually care what happens after they assign the ticket. Avoid.
I'd purchased a service plan unknowing the price paid was not 1 time payment, until check out and payment was complete did I find the plan amount quoted was a "monthly" payment plan. I quickly called AHS to cancel. Here's where the "dog and pony show" begins. No email confirmation of cancelation was sent as promised. Called the next day to have and resent, after 2 hours of speaking with a rep from initial call in, then the "escalation " dept. it was mentioned repeatedly that there was no cancelation confirmation NOR any confirmation # to reference. The 1st person told me I had to wait another 30 days before a cancelation message could be sent ((what?))? The second rep told me the cancelation was only completed this morning(HST)/afternoon (EST). UGH. Either way, still NO cancelation confirmation message. CRAZY! I've never NOT received a cancelation letter/message/# when canceling anything.
Waste of time and money! They partner with crooks and then expect you to pay the contractor 1865 bucks for a 474 repair to get things "up to code". The house was built 5 years ago and is fully up to code, which I had verified by a licensed HVAC tech. Waste of time and money!
Unable to execute service requests! Spent the past 3 days and hours of time on the phone with low level staff attempting to obtain service contractors to repair 2 items- a non functioning gas oven and a leaking pool pump. Finally resolved to pay for needed repairs out of pocket. Cancelled upcoming contract renewal. AHS is a waste of money!
Service requests ******* & *******.
On July 18,2022 I filed a work order with AHS, the problem was our AC unit stopped working. A technician from MS Services Inc. came to our home and found the electrical circuit in the off position so she turned it back on and the AC worked for about 3 hours until the problem came back. I called the contractor and they sent another technician who found the electrical wiring to the AC unit was starting to melt! So he cut the wires and remove the melting wires and turned the circuit back on and the AC again worked for two hours. The next day and for the third time I called the AC contractor once again and requested a technician, the tech arrived and discovered my AC unit compressor was badly damage and because the unit was so old he would request AHS to replace the unit due to parts not being available for our AC unit du to obsolescence.
After waiting for two weeks for AHS to call me and schedule the AC replacement and not receiving a call from them I decide to call their office. I called on 7/29 and was informed by a customer representative that parts were ordered and I should be receiving a call from the technician to schedule the "repair" so I was confused because the technician had informed me on their their visit that parts were not available and I was going to need a replacement not a repair but I figure parts were found and my AC was going to get repair.
I did not hear back from anyone so on 8/4 I called AHS and was informed by an extremely rude dude that I needed to be patient and wait for parts that were already ordered and would be arriving soon. I have called everyday from 8/4 until 8/16 and was informed parts were on their way but 8/17 I asked to speak to a supervisor, she informed me parts were NOT ordered and I needed to wait because I was not the only customer waiting for parts/ Either AHS or the Contractor is lying to me. On 8/18 I was informed our AC will not be replaced. I continue my wait. Liars
06/ 24/ 22 we started our claim water in floor ac vents and after paying for second opinions, sending us plumbers when we clearly stated was an ac issues, a trusted AC company came and left us a copy of the diagnosis coil inside furnace needs to be replaced DUE TO WEAR and TEAR American home shield denied the claim on 08/15/22 stating is not a normal wear and tear?! A coil is inside a furnace how can we possible bend it, it is old and they said no we live in Las Vegas and after all this they just said no. Customer Service is oversees nobody cares they hung on on you we have spent hours and hours trying to resolve this, they said a Supervisor will call you, that is not truth nobody cares they first lost the diagnose for 2 weeks we needed to all contractor to re send it and first they said they needed to see the words "due to wear and tear" now they have it and they said no it is not a "Normal" wear and tear common due yourself a favor never do business with this company water has been staggering in my vents for a this time I even have respiratory problems they do not care Stay Away worst company Ever for real.If you need to see paperwork I am willing to show it
American Home Shield set me up with a company to fix my washer, Beyer's appliance, ultimately they didn't do their job in fixing it properly, still having the same issues. Call AHS 2 days after the 30 day period and they just want more money to put in another service request. Not to mention their agents have no problem lying to you, so they don't have to deal with an issue. Hopefully, you can understand what they are saying since all their representatives are over seas. Time to shop for a new warranty company.
I was highly disappointed with their response time, and ability to answer basic questions. After 12 months with them, I had my first incident and felt assured that the problem would be fixed promptly by AHS. Instead, they send a "technician" fairly quick only to later dismiss their own estimate and asked ME to schedule another appointment with another provider. Mind you this is for an A/C unit in the middle of the Summer. After 3 weeks in the heat, the second provider provided a "non-covered" estimate of $1315 based on bogus (they were not able to explain them) charges not covered in the plan.
To make matter worst, their so-called "Customer Service" responded that I would be better off to fix it on my own and then claim for a refund as it "was usually cheaper and faster". Almost laughable, they were not able to indicate how much the estimate for the work was (and if different than the non-covered portion); nor whether there was any portion covered, nor what the hypothetical refund be. Because of their self-renewal policies and charges per visit, fixing my A/C will end up costing me about $2400 for having their services. About the same of not having any coverage and buying an entirely new unit.
Learn from my my mistake of contracting them and run. In My case I guess I'm stuck for another 11 months of "coverage."
This company is sub par, and should not be trusted. This company sent Right Tech Heating and Air to my house to water fix a leak in my AC unit. Their first "Tech" charged my wife $1500 for freon which did not fix the problem, because the unit was leaking water not freon. So of course the problem was not fixed. The second "Tech" found the water leak, and instead of fixing the problem he decided to add a third condensation line. To add this condensation line he placed, he placed it in the existing hole in the drain pan. The existing hole was in the drain pan because a sensor was placed there for a sensor that shuts the AC unit off once a certain amount of water is sensed to shut the unit off so the pan does not over flow out of the pan onto the ceiling below. It's a safety feature. Now the drain pan has over flowed onto my ceiling causing major damage. Right Tech will not accept any responsibility for their poor workmanship, and I'm stuck with thousands of dollars of damage with health, and safety concerns in my home. American Home Shield also sent three different companies to my home to fix my dishwasher and clothes washer. Neither were fixed. I had no other choice but to replace the units. American Home Shield absolutely refused to reimburse me for the units. They are also still charging me the monthly fee for their service I canceled. TOTAL RIP OFF. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY OF YOUR NEEDS.
They put the sheet rock back in the wall and left it looking like $#*!. Now I have to fix it I will never recommend Proven Professionals ever or American Home Shield.
This is a horrible company please use another. I have been with them since 2005 and pay monthly, but now it's time for a replacement they come up with some nonsense and deny the claim. It is a rip off they steal your money and don't fix anything. They do not send out reputable contractors. I will be canceling not worth it.
We were so dissatisfied with their service, charging extra for things we shouldn't have had to pay, and the coverage, for $75 a month, is terrible. When we tried to cancel and the rep hung up and said we were irate customers. Please, no one get this, they're awful!
In March 2022 my dishwasher stopped working. It was determined that parts were not available and the dishwasher must be replaces. I have call AHS numerous time and I still do not have my dishwasher in August 2022. Do not waste your money on this joke of a company. They do nothing.
They take your money then have no one to provide service so when you request a refund it takes over 30 days to be refunded you have to stay on them! When a service request is placed if they don't put it in right they refuse to pay.
This company should change its name to American Home SHAM. I've was with American Home Shield for 3 years, but decided to leave because they are TERRIBLE and their contractors are totally unreliable. I submitted a request on 8/1 to a dryer serviced. It was asigned to Sears (ATL). I made an 6 different appointment w/Sears and each time they never showed. I requested the cash-out option through AHS, but they claim the Sears tech has to submit a report first. It's neen an absolute nightmare.
They are a deceptive, "REPAIR" company. No matter how long you wait, or call, or email, they will never pay to replace your broken item. Instead, they will tell you they have escalated your request, or that someone will call/email you in 24-48 hours, but you will never hear from them again. AND, to make matters worse, when you call AHS to find out what happened, someone will tell you "ma'am/sir, Im sorry. I have contacted the contractor and they will be calling you in 24-48 hrs. I have also escalated your request to our escalation department…"
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
They take your money and provide nothing. My daughter's washing machine broke and the contractor cannot get the part, or provide a time line to get the part. She has been 5 weeks going to a laundromat. They offered to buy her out and give her $319. You can't get a washing machine for less than $600. She has paid AHS $71 a month for over a year and gets nothing for it. I will be canceling my contract if they ever call me back. Please don't waste your money for this service. Put your money in a savings account and hope you can fund your own repairs when needed. At least you can hire a reputable contractor who can complete the job on time.
Do NOT waste your money. This company is a joke. They will cover small inexpensive things, but if it's an AC they're going to tell you a dog pissed on it and it's not covered. Then they won't even service it because they say a dog pissed on it. I don't have a dog!
They will leave you in a heat wave for weeks with no A/C. They only care about getting money. Sent someone after 2 weeks who didn't do anything and now they still can't help until there system clears it up. Doesn't matter our state has been on national news for heat wave, they say it has to be 105 degrees before they'll even expedite.
This company doesn't even deserve one star. I have called them many times and they don't cover anything. Then 4 months ago, they sent someone to look at a leaky hole in our duct. The first guy came out and poked his head into the attic and said he didn't see anything, I pointed to where it was located and he said he didn't want to go up again and left. I googled that company and they had 1 star on google so that makes sense.
Then I called them and asked them to send another vendor who will actually look at the leaky hole in the duct. It took two months for them to send someone and because of that, the duct was moldy and there was a hole in our ceiling. The vendor fixed the hole but said he needed to come back to replace the moldy duct and he would tell AHS to send someone to fix the hole in the ceiling. But AHS never sent anyone and the vendor never came back.
So for the last couple of months, I have been repeatedly calling AHS to find out the status. They say, "We will send someone to do both issues this week". Then a week goes by and nothing happens. I call again and they have no record of it. This went on over and over and over. I still have a hole in my ceiling and moldy ducts because of them.
I finally tried to cancel my account and it took several hours, and as of right now, it still looks like my account isn't canceled.
This is a waste of money and if I had just put the money I pay them into an account, and used that money to fix stuff, I would have a lot more money right now. Run. Don't walk.
American Home Shield "warranties" your appliances, takes your money, and when an appliance doesn't work, wiggles out of helping you.
First, they told me that they provide a rekey service. The re-key guy came and did not rekey the back door. When I called to ask him to come back and finish the job, he rudely told me that it was too much trouble.
Then, when two of my burners did not work, an American Home Shield technician arrived that arrogantly told me that, yes, they did work. I called American Home Shield to ask him to come back and was told by the agent, "burners do not break."
Don't throw away your money on this sham operation!
