Horrible from the top to the bottom! I've been charged double for over a year and half. After I caught the mistake and spent an hour on the phone trying to make them understand English they still charged me double again. These people are thieves! All I wanted was for the double charging to stop. I didn't raise cane over all that extra money I paid and they still managed to fail again. Now it's the weekend and NOBODY in this huge company can help. It's a travesty! I recommend Choice home warranty I use them for another house and they are way better! I wish I could Leave 0 stars or go into the negative!
Was told my plan didn't cover a clogged sink. To my surprise I was flooded. My paperwork that I had said it would cover a clogged drain.I was ripped off by them so nothing good to say about AHS.
This is the worst insurance I being dealing with
They got my $100.00 and they never did the service that I requested
They said that they are going to give me the money back and they never did or call me and now that I canceled my policy they charge $83.32

I had a leaking water heater, the send a tech out. He looked at it and opened the heater and said I need a new water heater. AHS rejected my claim say the tech advised it was missing parts Not sure how he would say as it only took him 10 min to look at it. I asked for a 2nd review. It was set up they came in and reviewed and asked about a filtration system I showed the I had one (Lifesource) I got another email that my claim was rejected because of missing parts.
I sent to aberration and they reach out and said the fliteration was disconnected, there plumber lied and I had to buy the new water heater. They don't stand behind their word and look o way they do t have to pay.
I would never recommend them for their dishonesty. They are fine taking you money but not wanting to pay when it is needed
I have called to them for my service they contacted to express appliances for repair they gave order for the parts but I haven't received them yet since a month ago I called them again they told me that they have to call them back to check out again I don't recommend any people out here I can cancel the insurance immediately if they are not able to fix my problem not a good service they provide I'm paying them 40 dallar every month but not getting good service again they recalled to the express let me see what happens next
We have been dealing with American home shield for months due to my refrigerator having issues. We had a service technician come out do some work it did not fix it he came back out and wrote a report that the refrigerator could not be fixed. We have been waiting four months for American home shield to decide if they will replace my refrigerator or not. As we wait my refrigerator leaks water every day on my wood floors to this American home shield has told me that is not their problem or responsibility. I know that if I go out and but a refrigerator and try to get reimbursed that will never happen I will never see that money. This is completely unacceptable. And everytime we call the call goes to someone in India that you can barely understand, that was the lowest bid. So you speak to someone you cannot understand and you try to make them understand what you are saying it doesn't work. My husband is currently on the phone with them as I write this he explained everything very clearly to which the lady told him I am sorry sir your ticket is from December it is to old we have to open another ticket. My husband is very frustrated as he called because he was told on Thursday that they would have a decision in 24 to 48 hours as to if they are going to replace our refrigerator so he was calling to get an update on that because nobody has called us. And he is told sorry your ticket is to old we have to open a new one. This is all unacceptable. It is unacceptable I have been living with a refrigerator that is not keeping my food cold, that I'd leaking on my wood floor daily. It is unacceptable that we have been dealing with this for five months yes I said FIVE months for a broken refrigerator, I almost feel like American Home Shields standard Operating Procedure is to wait the customer out till they break. I mean we will give up at some point right. I challenge American Home Shield to do the right thing. I am not sure who reads these reviews hopefully not the lowest bid and someone of some importance will see this and take action because the way we have been treated and the service we have received is not acceptable.

Avoid at all cost. American Home shield sent MS appliance service technician over to tell me exactly what I told them was the problem. MS didn't call me back to let me know when they were coming back with the part to fix my washer, I had to go through AHS to find out they needed to order the part and they said they will come in 4 days. I called MS appliance to validate, Mark was very rude. 4 days later, they said it will be another 5 days. After going back and forth with AHS, I canceled them. I had Sears home warranty for years, the companies they contract with are efficient and have better customer service. I never had to wait for more than 2 days for my appliances to be fixed. I only signed up with AHS coz I thought they were better but obviously I was wrong. I won't used AHS again. Sears is way better.
Horrible, deceptive company - and I never even filed a claim. I needed to cancel my policy once I discovered I was already covered under my Homeowners policy. I had to jump thru hoops, got disconnected (hung up on) 2x once I wasn't keeping the policy after they tried to pursued me to keep it. Then, instead of refunding me prorated amount of time which I hadn't used, they claimed they would keep the funds and actually charge me $25 for cancelling. It was very obvious that the "resolutions" dept. is graded on how many "cancelling customers" they persuade to keep the policy. The amount of time and frustration they have caused me, I am in turn making sure to warn others. STAY AWAY! They're disgusting.
Cancellation is costly and lengthy. First, we just didn't renew our contract, but they still charged us. Then we called to cancel, but they said they couldn't cancel on budget day. We called again to cancel, and they claimed we'd get a refund within a couple weeks. No refund, and they charged us again. We called again to cancel, and they said we'd get an email within 10 days. No email, and they charged us again. We called and demanded something in writing. They only offered a 2-month refund while charging fees that exceeded the refund, so we somehow owed them money. We called again and they offered a 3-month refund but still charged an over $60 contract cancellation fee, even though we never renewed the previous contract. Keep in mind that each time you call, outsourced representatives put you on hold, pass you around between departments, and refuse to give you a straight answer. It's a living hell, and I don't know how AHS gets away with it.
I paid the deductible for a service appointment on my washer. It was determined that it would be a "very big job" to fix it. I was sent an email stating that I could pick out a new washer, so I logged in. I then got busy and went back to it a few hours later. The status had changed to be a partial approval for repairs. WHAT?! Then I called and was told I was indeed approved for a new washer or a $500 buy out. Then I got a call saying that I wasn't. I was only approved for a a partial repair or a $200 buy out. In the mean time, I HAVE NO WASHER! They are rip off artists. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
My AC stopped working. The tech came out and said the relay switch and control board stopped working which made the heat strips stop work. Too old to replace parts. It was not below freezing when the incident first happened. They are saying that it's "an act of God" and not covered. They said the tech told them it was due to cold weather. This is a lie. I spoke with the tech (and have a copy of the report) and the owner of the company and it's not weather related. I pay for premium insurance and because a claim is filed, they refuse to cover it. If I could give negative stars, I would.
I had American Home shield for many years. They spend more time figuring out how not to repair your items than actually repairing them. By far the worse company and scam I have ever dealt with. I only stayed with them because there was no competition and they took advantage of that. I spent more time fighting and arguing with AHS over the phone than I did getting repairs. To be fair, the only thing I can say that they are good at is taking your money on time and fast, so their billing department is 5 stars. AHS no longer has a monopoly on the market. Now there is a new company in my area called "Select Home Warranty" that provides much better service at less cost. American Home Shield, you are fired.
Check out this company for better service. The Company name is "Select Home Warranty". See if they cover your area. It's worth the time and I think you will be much happier if you have had problems with AHS.
AHS doubled the monthly bill by increasing it twice each year without even notifying me. I could not resolve this issue over the phone. When I got fed up and finally told them I am canceling my contract they started offering some minimal discounts to keep me. When I rejected their offer, several representatives simply disconnected their phones. The last representative whom I talked became aggressive after hearing I am still cancelling my contract and charged me for the whole month in advance which I did not use/need and on top of that, he charged a Cancellation Admin Fee amounting to a one-month payment. Avoid this company at all costs - don't trust their rosy offers, which are valid until you take their bait!
I've been told my coils and blower went out on my a/c.They ordered the parts but can't say when they will come in.I've asked for a portable a/c they said no.My platinum contract says fix or replace.My 1st service request Nov28 it's now Dec5,2022. I'm in Florida and hot.
In August 2022, I contacted AHS to request information about getting home coverage insurance. We never received a contract to sign nor gave any indication we had chosen a plan. Not only did they start taking money out of my bank account, but they also set up TWO contracts and took out double the money every month. Now they refuse to cancel and refund three months' worth of taking money out for TWO contracts we never signed.
You cannot rewatch anyone in the US or anyone who can do anything but read the computer screen. It's horrible! No customer service. I would have given a zero if possible. I have spent well over 100 hours trying to get answers regarding hvac and furnace. Nothing! I am lied to every time I call.
Absolute SCAM. Took hundreds of dollars. Falsified documents. Allowed my family to suffer. DONT BUY!
If you have a HW Heater 58in or less they won't do much for you. Their HW heaters are over 60inches so if you have a short they try and get you to take the cash payment that is less than the cost of the appliance, without installation. They also have a policy where they will not tell the actual measurements or capacity. Very misleading!
AHS is a ripoff company. I filed a complaint about my AC unit that stops cooling after about 45 days when I bought the policy. They refused to repair the AC claiming that it is a pre-existing condition. The Tech told me that gas has been leaking and condenser my need to replace and informed that leak may have started long time ago but you will know only when the gas has drained completely till that AC will keep cooling and that is what happened and as per Tech it may take one week to months or a year for the gas to discharge completely it depends on the size of the leak. On the website of AHS it is written that "Undetectable pre-existing conditions" are also covered.
When I called they told me you could have discovered this by simple mechanical test by switching off/on the AC, I asked why I would switch off/on the AC when it is cooling? And even if I do that how I will find the problem I am not a Tech & don't know much?
But they keep telling me we can not cover this repair as it is pre-existing. I wish I had check the ratings before I found they are no. 5 on one website and no. 3 on another one and my friends also warned me about AHS that they do not cover many valid claims. AHS is a RIPOFF COMPANY DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
I've been a customer since 2018, I have only put in 3 service requests over that time and every request was a horrible experience. I still paid thousands of dollars to remedy the situations having to call private vendors to get the job done. AHS will try to offer you everything in the universe to stay on as a customer and none of it is worth it in my opinion. To top it off they want to charge the customer $67 to cancel there warranty. That in it self is unethical. The customer is cancelling because of the horrible service they have received from AHS and they have the nerve to want to charge you for their bad service. There are many other companies that rank higher in CS. Please save yourself the headache and go with another company.
