Don't get it
June 13, 2021

Horrible company, you can't email them for anything, you have to call, you can't cancel your account online, you have to call during business hours, long wait time on the phone, 20-40 min each time. Their venders are horrible for the most part, some are ok but they will try to nickle and dime you every time and you pay $100 every time you need a visit even if you need the visit on the same day for 2 diff toilets, it will be $100 for each toilet (just an example). Right now, I'm scheduled to wait almost 3 weeks from the time I requested service for a garbabe disposal to the time they can come install it and the company they are making me use is rude, so I went to home depot, bought my own and installed it. I'm trying to cancel my AHS account but they make it hard, can't do it on a Sunday, total BS, don't use them unless you want a lot of stress and want to waste money on service fees hoping to get a quality service provider. All of their web reviews are paid for, no google reviews, no real reviews.

STAY AWAY FROM AHS!
June 11, 2021

You guys are terrible! Worst customer service process I have ever seen! Managers are afraid to talk to customers or deal with escalations.
Agents are left on their own to handle customer issues with a very precarious process. Terrible company. In addition to not renewing the contract once it ends, I also don't recommend AHS to friends or family. In fact, I wouldn't even recommend it to enemies.
Also, when you give the option to rate your business with a stars via survey, I strongly recommend that you allow us to rate your company with ZERO star. One Star is too too many starts for this crap service. Also, instead of just giving us the option to choose ONE reason of why we would give ZERO star, please add the option "all the above". The overall AHS experience is terrible punctuality, poor coverage, poor problem solving and professionalism? This option is a joke! In a company where managers are afraid to talk to customers when there is an escalation and leave agents alone with a bad workflow, there is no Professionalism.
I hope my comments help this company get a little better and respect their customers. Today, this company couldn't be worse. Please stay away from AHS.ST

This is one of the worst companies I have ever had the experience of working with as a Realtor I purchased a home warranty for my clients. My buyer was unable to purchase the home. I requested a refund in April of 2021, and now it is June of 2020 and still no refund. I have called the company and requested the refund and I get told they are working it, I have had my account rep email the company as well and still no refund. They will not offer you any information and state that a supervisor will call you back but never does. I will never use this company ever again. It's really to bad this company is all about lies and keeping money that doesnt belong to them. As I am writing this review I am calling again, and if the issue is not resolved I will sue the company for my money back and make sure that they pay me for more than what I paid for the home warranty in the first place.

Terrible customer service. Inferior contractors (for showing up 2+ hours late and being high "inferior" is really a compliment). Using deliberately deceiving or contradicting language in their contract. USELESS. A SCAM. A RIPOFF.

My A/C has been out since May 19,2021. American Home Shield is the absolute worst. Only reason I have them is because my seller paid for them for 5 years. My compressor in my A/C unit has went out 3x in less than a year. Everybody they send out doesn't know why the compressor keeps going out. Instead of finding the root of the problem, all they keep doing is trying to replace the compressor. I HAVEN'T seen my newborn baby in over 3 weeks because of no A/C. My mother in law is on oxygen and has diabetes. Every time the unit goes out, we have to put her in a hotel. My fiancé, she has bad allergies and we have a newborn baby. This is really sad and nobody seems to understand. Everybody sounds scripted, "rest assure we will fix this". I've been promised call backs and haven't received any. I'm the one who has to keep calling. The temperature has reached 94 in my house. They just tell you anything to get you off the phone AND after all this they still want me to pay for refrigerant.

Expect to spend enormous amounts of your life to get something fixed. That broken refrigerator? All you food is lost and the cheapest repair person they can find will take 2 weeks to get out there. Also be ready to
Lose 1/2 a day of work because the cheapest repair person AHS could find can only be there anywhere from 12-6pm. The wait another we or two while AHS ships around for the cheapest replacement part, then another 1/2 of lost work while the repair person again tells you to wait at your house from 12-6pm. Any issues? Call the AHS 800 number where the person cannot speak English and transfers you to another line with a hold time of at least an hour. Why would anyone give any money to AHS?

Stay away from AHS
May 21, 2021

Stay away from this company and do not expect that after you have paid for the service, they will repair anything in your house, and the contractors come and say that they do not know how to repair in my case the garage door opener and the pool pump. I spent so many hours to no avail to fix the problem and I think it's not worth it.

My husband and I were with them for six years. And in those years things do brake down and fall apart. Nothing out of the ordinary we had some leaky pipes, needed a new hot water tank. Our refrigerator died needed a new one. Washer broke down needed one of those. Also the element in our stove went bad. They replaced that. And a loose wire in our dish washer. We always paid our monthly payment to them on time in those six years. Then last week we get a letter saying are canceling us. My husband called wanting a reason they couldn't give one! My husband wanted to talk to a supervisor. There is no supervisor to talk to as least they couldn't find one! They love taking your money every month. But, they don't like giving their customers money to get things fixed you have to fight for it! I would go else where and by pass this Company. They are money hungry and don't put their customers first!

Ruined MY HOME
May 13, 2021

Do not ever buy this company! Even if you need help there's no one and no supervisor that will help you. You'll just get stuck in a loop in India somewhere. I put in a request for my pool pump on May 9 and they only have one service contractor that can help the whole DFW area which means I have to wait until May 26 for my pool pump to get repaired. I'm not sure if you know about pool pumps but they're pretty essential to the pool. My pool is already green and if they wait until May 26 it will need to be drained resurface and all of the equipment will need to be brand new which would be about $50,000. Since I cannot get any help from anyone I am looking into a lawyer. I wish I could say this was the first that experience however I had to pay for my garbage disposal out of Pocket because their technicians were not capable of figuring it out. And I think they have a secret deal with their contractors to put all of the cost on the customer. I had a problem with my plumbing and the contractor and a HS said that it was outside of the contract and I had to pay over $7000 out of pocket for my plumbing as well. This home warranty is cost me a lot of money please please please if you have a similar instance file a lawsuit with me please

Stay away!
May 6, 2021

We have had a 2 contracts with them for over 7 years. We've had a few repairs here and there but nothing big. Our dishwasher broke last week right before guests arrived for a week visit. First, we had to schedule an online assessment... seriously? Can't be scheduled until 5 days after reporting the problem (ok, there was a weekend in there) on Tues, 5/4 at 1 PM. Had to call to remind them. They determine what was needed and said they'd order the parts. Today, 5/6 at 1 PM - 2 days later - I get a call from the order department to let me know the part won't be in until 5/30? And ends with, ok?

Of course I said no, it's not ok. I would like to speak to a supervisor. She continues - so do you want me to cancel the service? No, I would like to speak to a supervisor. Ends with, I don't have time to argue with you, call the (800) number and hung up.

I called the (800) and spoke to 'John' - off shore rep who was extremely difficult to understand. On the call forever. Finally got to the point where I think he said, they would give me a cash out to get it fixed myself. Not sure what amount that would be since we needed a heating board AND a problem with the top shelf fixed and he said there was no record of any other issue / problem than heating board. So if we move forward with repair they'll send someone 5/30 (over a month after reporting the problem) and they won't be able to fix both problems at once.

We've had minor things repaired over the years without the hoops and barrels. But here's the deal. Their business plan must be - we've had this contract for 7 years and it's likely they might start having issues with appliances, etc. so it's time to move to a different tier of service.

I would give zero stars, but that's not an option. All of the other bad reviews pretty much sum up how horrible this company is, so I'll just add this: Based off of my experience, plus the other reviews, it's likely that AHS will deny your claim for repair or replacement, even if your contract states that repair/replacement is covered. If your situation is like mine, AHS will use an incompetent contractor that doesn't fix anything, then try to force you to pay more money out of pocket. If you have a bad experience with AHS, you should file a complaint with the Tennessee Office of Attorney General (AHS is based in TN), and also file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office of the state where you live. This should lead to an investigation so that AHS will not be able to inflict so much damage on its customers. The reason AHS gives such horrible service is because not enough people file complaints with the Attorney General.

I submitted at $107 ticket for a leaking pipe. It ended up being the water heater which is "covered" by AHS. However, the contractor added an additional $900 for non-covered services i. E. modification to gas line, modification to water line, permit, dielectric union, expansion tank, insulation... none of which were required (excluding the permit). The tank literally needed to be swapped out. The contract company was Proven Professional Construction Services LLC in Apex, NC. After looking at their reviews, 99% of customers that had contact with them through AHS had the same experience. All left 1star reviews and most were dropping AHS because of this.
They know their contractors are terrible and they do not care. You don't but a home warranty so you can pay additional made up fees down the line.

Wow... this company is a rip off... i paid $100 dollars to get my ac fixed... guy came out and said he couldn't do anything because i have 2 connected ac systems... one won't work without the other but i didn't put it on the work order so he left... now american home shield is telling me i have to spend another $100 to get a new work order! They never fixed the $#*!ing problem and now they're trying to shake me down for more money... they said if i had added the 2nd system to the work order before the tech came out it wouldn't have been a problem but since i didn't i have to pay another $100... the website doesn't even give you the option to put it on the work order... stay very very very far away from this company... they are celebrating 50 years of taking advantage of home owners that are already strapped for cash... if i could give them less than 1 star i would

Custmer service
May 3, 2021

I had an attic fan that was not working. I called these guys stated they were going to fix it. Took $100 from me under two contracts. Never got it fixed. Refuse to refund the money. On top of that they automatically renewed the contract with out my permission. When I asked for a refund on that they refused also. When I requested to speak to a manager I was told Managed will not speak to any customers. The customer service sucks.

Just lies
April 26, 2021

I called American Home Shield on March 15th to get my refrigerator repaired. I gave them the make and model number, but they assigned it to a contractor who don't repair my type of refrigerator. Next it got assigned to a new contractor, who did come to the house, spent 5 minutes looking at the problem and said he would have to order a part that would arrive at my house within 8 to 10 days. After two weeks, I called AHS again as I was worried about any packages arriving without my having a tracking number. AHS representative said they would call the contractor the next day since they were closed and call me back. Not so! After many calls, I have learned that AHS representatives repeatedly lie about calling me back with an update from the contractor who is apparently the only one that can fix my refrigerator. I asked that the situation be escalated, but still no return call. It has now been over a month and a half and still they are telling me that it is the contractor's fault for not submitting a report and getting a needed part approved. My repeated calls have not stirred AHS in any action to move this along. How long must I wait? Dealing with this is beyond frustrating!

Stay Away! Scam. This is one of the worst companies in existence. Do not get a home warranty from them. You are wasting your money. It is a scam. I paid almost $2,000 dollars in premiums, and when I requested a repair for a broken coil and evaporator, that they installed 4 years ago, they said it would cost $1404. I just canceled and they charged me to cancel my account. Ridiculous! You are better off putting $50 a month into your savings account, then when an appliance or system fails, use that money from your savings.

My AC unit was out of date and the whole unit broke down due to age, and they wanted to repair the evaporator coils when the entire unit needed to be replaced. They told me that I would come out of pocket $1200, while they would only fork over $900. I've been with them for six years, paying $75 a month with no breakdowns in my home until now and they want even pay.

I was a customer for over 4 years and when i actually needed their help, they were absolutely useless and stole hundreds of dollars from me. AHS sent out two terrible electricians that didn't know the root cause of my electrical fire. They charged both each time an incompetent person came out (didn't let me know they were charging me) and then denied each claim even though the electricians had no idea what was going on. I paid a reputable third party electrician to come out and he let me know it was clearly due to incorrect wiring in the house and that it shouldve absolutely been covered by my warranty company. Since AHS refused to have an outside electrician come to the house they refused the claim and I had to pay an additional fee to cancel. So now im out hundreds of dollars and still need to hire someone to fix my house. A truly immoral company will to steal from people. A total scam and not worth the money.
