As with every website, any company can make themselves look good. From a true customer standpoint, this is by far one of the WORST companies there is. Their customer call center policy is to keep you on the line and not elevate to next level management until you are frustrated and end the call. I URGE anyone looking for a home warranty to consider any other companies. On a scale of 1 - 10, this company is truely a minus 15 and that is being generous.
Worst company i ever deal with charged me for a out of season ac tune up that they did not even offer could not get my money refunded had to call credit card company took them 5 minutes to fix the problem then had to have furnace worked on would not start a work order till i paid back the $ 75 they charged me for nothing so was on hold for 2 hours till got someone that fixed the problem worst company ever terrible customer service don't waste your money
Terrible experience with Septic tank issues. Their delays further ruined my floors and 3 months later still haven't been reimbursed for something that is covered in their contract. I would not recommend them to anyone.
I was with them for over 10 years. The quality of work is excellent. The speed of response for service calls is excellent. The coverage is wide and I never had any problem with them saying an item is not covered in over 10 years. Those are the positives.
The negatives are:
- They will keep patching up an equipment till the very end to ensure they don't have to pay to replace.
- When they do have to replace the ceiling will get you a replacement but usually not a quality replacement. On my AC unit for example that finally failed, I ended up paying for a quality system totally out of pocket with no credit.
- If you don't pay attention you will sign up for a package that covers a number of items that are not in your home and as a result you are paying a higher premium because of that. Better to go with another company that covers just what you need for a much lower premium at a lower deductible (service call fee).
- If you ever decide to cancel, they will charge you a fee (approx $75) and they don't tell you this until they have completed the cancelation process and you are out the system. They really should disclose this up front. This is with 10+ years of payments.
- The plans auto renew with price increase each year and no advance notice of price increase. I literally did not know the price was increasing until this year. This was the reason for my cancelation.
This is their "third strike" Their rates have gone up from $60/mo. To $80/mo. They refused to repair my refrigerator. They refused to repair my plumbing without documentation of why. They couldn't repair my washer. I got the part and installed it myself. Now they won't refund the part or the service call. Customer service is a joke. Those poor people overseas, don't have a clue. The standard reply for anything more complex is that "they will have to refer it to their supervisor or escalation department and you will have a reply is 48 hours." That NEVER happens. I sent a request for the refund to the email I was given on 1/18/21. Never heard back. Resent 3/16/21. This company is a ripoff. For the monthly fee and service charge over time, you have already paid for the repair of the minor things they actually cover.
They couldn't repair my plumbing because of "house movement" but had no back up from the plumber as to what "house movement" was. The plumber did not inspect under the house or use a camera to diagnose the problem.
My refrigerator had some rusted out interior parts. They ordered the replacement parts. One part was backordered so they refused to replace the parts that were available. Then they wanted to replace my mechanically sound high end refrigerator with a cheaper model. I declined. I watched the websites and when the parts were available I called back and scheduled another service call. He ordered and installed the parts. So 15 months later they actually did do something. Definitely not worth the cost and aggravation.

Do not use 6 weeks in and still micro wave is broken. 4 days off work to be home for the technician, still doesn't work! So called home shield and this is what I got. Hi can you tell me when my microwave will be fixed, "no sorry" how long will I need to wait before you just replace it as the technician has been out twice and still doesn't work, " Ummm, we will continue to replace parts until it works" so is there a time frame when you guys just say listen the customer has waited long enough we haven't fixed it so let's just replace it? " no we don't have anything like that" this was the best part... so why don't you send and email wit the suggestion for customer service sake a time frame should be set and once met no matter what we replace the item to ensure the customer has waited a reasonable period without resolve and we need to meet our obligation? " oh we can't send emails they don't let us make suggestions" so 6 weeks down and warranty paid in full. Not even a time frame for when the next tech will be out to try and fix it? So I would say if you need something in your life to test your patience and give you something to stare at that doesn't work, but like the occasional visitor to come in and try this is the warranty for you! Otherwise keep your money... and the company could care less... If American homeshield looks at this you can find me I'm in NM ******* microwave broken. The wording part is they probably have 1000, 00 of us payers who still have broken stuff.
I had a claim starting 2/2/2021 to fix my refrigerator. As of 2/2/21 it has not been fixed,
Ahs had 1 provider in this area and would not give me another. I called customer several times, none I could hardly understand. They cut me off by using static whenever I made a complaint or asked to speak to someone in charge. I was not satisfied with the provider who is taking to long. I have been with ahs for 2 years. At this time I would not recommend ahs nor the provider.
Been with them for 5 years. My first claim - 2 years ago - was for my water heater. They would only replace it if I payed an extra $400. For 'changes in installation'. Being a senior citizen and desperate for the replacement I paid this above the service charge.
My second claim this month was for a broken toilet. The guy they sent spent less than 4 minutes and told me they would not repair or replace because they didn't approve of the broken condition.
They will do anything to avoid honoring their contract when other than minor cost is involved.
Just a bunch of crooks who prey on seniors.
Worst company ever!
We've been a paying costumers for over a year.
6 months ago we requested from AHS to come fix a leaking pipe since we received $500 water bill!
They didn't came or done anything. Now 6 month later, I've been calling everyday, spending at least an hour on the phone with them and still, nothing.
Now, the leakage has caused a flood in the basement, water bill is now $2500 and they don't want to do anything.
I've never dealt with any company that was this bad. They should be out of business. Only have one word to describe this - SCAM!
I joined in december. After going over everything we have that can breaks down the ahs makes the promise everything is covered and if they can't repair it will replace it. You call in a service request. Wait 2 weeks for a person to call then wait 2 weeks for a repairman to show up then wait 2 weeks for parts.
Here is my complaint's. AHS sends out Prolite home appliance repairman comes out to fix our may tag dryer, he says i'v had one of these and no problem, it's making a hell of a lot of noise. The day he came out to fix it i was bringing my wife home from the hospital [stroke] i walk in to turn on the dryer and you have to $#*!ting me. I don't think he turned it on the noise still the same you can hear it thru out the house. Called shield and they were going to get back with monday have not heard from them only they said it's making a noise your not covered. Thats one the second one is fresno city plumbing my spa motor went out and they have left us hanging for 2 months still waiting for a answer. I been a business man for over 25 years and i would never treat my customers like AHS has treated us. and they people the hire to do the repair. They take my $$ and we have no satisfaction. Warning find another home warrantee besides AHS you'll regret it.

Buyer Beware! This Company uses poorly rated network contractors that have questionable business practices. Once company assigns you one of their network contractors; Their motto seems to be "IT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM, IT'S YOURS!" Customer Service and Escalation Departments will not assist in issues with their network contractors. Bottom Line, Save your money; do not purchase contract from this company.
AHS ARE LIARS & FRAUDS! OUR DISHWASHER & FREEZER BROKE. SERVICE CALL WAS MADE AND SOMEONE CAME OUT ON DEC 8,2020. ON DEC 17TH SUPPOSEDLY PARTS WERE ORDERED & DELIVERED TO THE WRONG CONTRACTORS ADDRESS. NOBODY WAS RESPONDING TO OUR CALLS, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE & NOT HELPFUL AT ALL BUT KEPT SAYING IM SO SORRY. WE REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER AND THEY WOULDN'T LET US AND KEPT STATING THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL US BACK. FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS NOW NOBODY FROM AHS CALLED US BACK! WE CALLED EVERY OTHER DAY IF NOT EVERYDAY TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. WE RECEIVED AN EMAIL THAT THE PART WAS DELIVERED ON JAN 8,2021 BUT YET NOBODY WAS ABLE TO FIND IT. AFTER 2 MONTHS OF AGGRAVATION THEY FINALLY REALIZED IT WENT TO THE WRONG CONTRACTORS ADDRESS. WE WERE LIED TO AND WERE TOLD DIFFERENT STORIES THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS. THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!
I have used HSA home warranty for 13 yrs in St Louis and had A&E come to our home for repairs time and time again with no issues. We moved to FL 2 yrs ago and need repair on our fridge. We called HSA, which contracted A&E to fix it. The repair man came on Jan 16,2021, diagnosed the issue and ordered the parts. They scheduled a revisit on Jan 29 to install, which they never came and never called. They also said on their system that we were not home. This is a total lie. I have a disabled husband and we are home ALL THE TIME. We called several times after the visit window ( 11a - 2pm) and were told they were on the way. At 6:30pm the agent apologized saying that there were no more agents in our area. Rescheduled for Feb 5 (sorry this is our next apt), to which they did the same thing. Never came and never called. Again for Feb 12. Again for Feb. 19 - which should be an apt tomorrow, but when I called today to confirm, I was told that no agent will be in this area and that the next apt is March 1. HSA will not send another vendor because the parts are from Sears. A&E keeps playing schedule games with me. So, as a consumer, I am completely screwed because I cannot get another vendor to come to install the parts and I am without a fridge for over a month now. Mind you, when the monthly draft is due, HSA happily takes the money out of my account. When I schedule a service call, HSA requires a pre payment. What is a consumer to do? My kids told me not to write a review because I could "sound like a Karen". What does A&E care? They will get paid regardless of when they come. Tomorrow or next month. What does HSA care? They get my monthly payment. And you know what? If I decide to cancel my insurance, They will not miss my $600/yr premium AND I will have to start from scratch. So there it is my friends... A sad story of a broken refrigerator and a broken-hearted house wife who just wants people to do their freaking JOB!
In January 3rd 2021, I have made a request to repair my dishwasher, and till February 13 the dishwasher doesn't work properly due to their contractor who didn't fix the issue and the AHS parts department have sent me the wrong parts (The racks don't come out all the way out)
Now they don't wish to replace the parts and they are saying to me your request has been denied! Excuse me for what!?
I even requested to speak to a supervisor for many times their customer service agent promised to do so but I haven't heard from them and no one called me back
I paid for a 1 year contract on 7/6/2020. I paid $550. Due to the extremely poor service I received from AHS, I made a decision to cancel my contract on 1/21/2021. I asked for my the remaining months (1/21/2021 - 7/6/2021) to be mailed to me in form of a check to ******* South Cherry Court, Gardner, KS *******. Till today, my refund has also not been given to me. The refund amount should be $315.59. AHS still owes me my refund. I have called numerous times and they keep saying they agree that it should have been sent to me and someone will call me the next day but no one calls. This has happened on 3 separate occasions. Been calling their contractor & CS line almost everyday to follow up a service request/recall. The no frost fridge is now building ice on the freezer door. How can they operate such business if repair was not their expertise? Hit or Miss?
Just be prepared if you pay for their service that you will have to fight and call at least 6 times to get something fixed if it is not done right the first time. They hire sub-standard companies to do the repairs. I flat out had a appliance person tell me there was nothing wrong with my refrigerator yet there was condensation inside the fridge and two error codes telling me the compressor was running to long. 6 phone calls at at least 30 minutes each with the run around. Over and over. Same script. Then had a plumbing leak under bathtub in ceiling, clearly can see the leaking yet the plumber didn't want to fix it so he told me it was due to there not being enough silicone around the spout. Of course that was a lie as the leak is still happening. You will ALWAYS have a call back, maybe more than once. Photo below shows one of the error codes. I went to manufacturer website and looked up the error codes 24 & 50. Their technician said that is normal. What a joke!
Customer service is terrible. I spent 3 days on the phone with representatives explaining they debited the wrong account after I called a week earlier an updated my payment account info. The representatives and supervisors claimed they no longer had the old account info on file, but my bank statement showed the charge. I provided proof to them and they still were no help. I demanded to cancel service because I couldn't be a customer with a company that doesn't follow directions and provide adequate service to customers. I would be aware they really don't care about their customers satisfaction and don't take ownership of their mistakes.
I have been trying for two months to cancel my policy. There is no direct number to speak with someone about it. The call center is no help. They will give you the sales pitch and tell you all the reasons why you will regret canceling and when they finally consent to send you to the right department magically the wait is too long and they won't let you hold. They say they will call you back but they don't. It is quite a racket they have going. If they make it difficult for you you might come to your senses and decide you don't really need to cancel. Shoddy business practices for this day and age. I feel like I have been duped.
Very, Very BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.! All calls are directed to the Philippines. They don't understand our way of living here in Hawaii. I spoke with three different people and they all said that they would have someone call me to resolve my issue. NO ONE CALLED! I do not recommend American Home Shield to anyone. BIG SCAM!
