Agoda Phillippines

I had a bad experience using Agoda in August 2023. I had booked an apartment through it and the duration was 4 weeks. I actually knew the apartment having stayed in it before so was reasonably confident that it would be okay.

Previously using Agoda whils traveling in Europe had no problems at all but when it comes to mixing Philippines and long term stays well that is an altogether different matter.

The apartment I had rented in Manila using Agoda was sub standard, unsafe, in need of fumigation and was completely not as described. On day 2 of being there I raised the issues with their customer service explaining that the apartment was a bio hazard and completely not as described. All I got back was endless chit chat about how they understood me and my concerns before finally telling me that to cancel the booking I would need to pay a 25% penalty.

I was stuck in the middle between them and the property owner not knowing what to do however one thing I was totally not going to do was be forced into paying 25% of the entire booking for a cockroach infested dump.

When I left I penned a hard hitting but true and very accurate review of the place and the experience I had been conned into. They did not publish it.

My advice is this DO NOT use Agoda for long term stays when visiting Philippines. In fact I would suggest not using it at all for any long term stay.

Pricing of any hotel on Agoda is extremely non-transparent. Their BPG (Best Price Gurantee) is a marketing gimmick but cannot be claimed. It is just a labyrinth of policy loopholes they use to not honor the Best Price Gurantee agreement. Have been a long time customer at Agoda but was shocked to see my booking available at almost half the price some days later on Agoda itself and the BPG claim was circumvented using policy loopholes. Unfortunate and Disappointing.

Gokulam Park hotel, safe and fridge didn't work. No hot water at times. Pictures were deceiving on Agoda. Indiavacationz boat was disgusting. Pictures deceiving here too, address incorrect, honeymoon suite was disgusting, also no hot water in the bath. Hotel Seaface, nothing worked in the room, including wifi and after complaining bitterly was moved to another room, a day later. Agoda need to vet all properties they sell. Did not have any issues with the hotels booked with Booking.com.

Agoda becomes very doggy platform

Just got scammed by Agoda for the second time the past 2 months
Very wired experience with Agoda lately i think something happened in the company.
This is review on my previous incident
When I arrive to the hotel after booking the room with Agoda the girl in the reception told me that the owner instructions for the past few months now is not to accept Agoda booking.
As we all know how long it will take to cath Agoda customer service on the phone i left and found another hotel.
Sent a letter to Agoda customer service and was sure it will be fixed ASAP.
To my surprise they told me that they will check and get back to me they didn't.i emailed them again.
This time they asked for proof.
I told them seriously if the girl in the reception told me that the owner of the hotel instructed them not to accept Agoda booking for sure Agoda is familiar with this issue.
They refused to refund my money unbelievable.
And today when I arrive to the hotel the price went up 20% i booked anyway.but i went few hundred meters down the road and check again the price went down.go back to the hotel the price go up.i think they changing the price wile tracing your location wired :).
I will try not to use them again

I know a big company can not like agoda can not make sure every hotel oder apartment is as the discribed it. But non of our 5 books were as they listed & discribed on the app. Vietnam has a huge hygine deficit, thats why we always check if the discrib it as good & non of them were right.
We wanted to contact the customer service, but guess what, they got non. Non of the listed numbers nor email workd.
I dont even know how that is even possible. Dont support them!

I would not give 1 star, they have the most junkie customer service, which provided to us from their Shanghai China office. Starting when found their price, trying to buy it by my credit card, after I charged on my AE card, then their price jumped 20%, I called their Shanghai office, Ms. Lin, who was unreasonable asked me that I have a photo to approve the price when I saw it, Ms.Lin was crazy, in the US. no one buy any product first thing have to take a photo, then Rachel told me that they would match the price if I found the lowest fare on the internet at the same location and same time period, then I got back online and I found exactly price, at the same time period, what I bought on agoda first time, I took 3 pics sent over them, then Ms. Liu said that my pictures of price did not including taxes. So, I was very patiently explained to Ms. Liu what was match pricing in the US, Ms. Liu said she lives in China and she does not care what US does. Then I told them I will call my credit card to dispute the price of difference. I called them 5 times could not get resolved. Agoda Shanghai China they dont care customer service, they refused me to speak a manger. After we traveled over the hotel which I booked, the lady cancelled our res without inform us, after we arrived at her place. And sold a customer much higher price and she made us middle of travel and waited on her property for 2 hours, surely, she find a B & B and made us to pay cash no receipt with higher price. The experiences were with Agoda was crazy, and their service was the worst, DONT use Agoda, pay for a normal an American travel booking sites to avoid horrible service which provide by this junkie site.

When I reached the hotel they denied the reservation as they sony have any such booking Agoda sent me confirmation but the hotel didn't entertained that also it is next impossible to contact Agoda in india as the numbers provided on Agoda website are fake number you can only contact on the chat boat and you are on the mercy of the agent if the agent reply in 10 mins or 1 hour then they start confusing you by giving you irrelevant answer and end the conversation. Agoda said they have resolved the issue hotel said they will not entertain the booking at 11:30 pm I paid the hotel and get the room and lost my money which I paid to Agoda as they just said that they resolved the issue I don't think I will trust Agoda for ny next trip

SCAMMED BY #AGODA

Agoda gives a false idea of hotel accommodations. They show photos that are not at all similar or nearby to the property. They rate properties much higher than what they are actually. Once you pay, you are screwed. Do not trust agoda. If you decide to book with them search reviews because they have hotels listed as 4 star hotels that are more like 2 star hotels. They list dirty and unsafe and unhygienic hotels. Be aware and protect yourself. Will not recommend anyone not even enemies. We used their service for the first time and lost 15k for cancellation of hotel booking because they showed hotel listed as 4star and which was not even 2 star.
If you book using AGODA ………

Bad experience

I have booked two rooms for 4 adults and 2 kids at GOLDEN PALAZA,ZIRAKPUR About Rs 6500 via Agoda.com on 1 and 2 oct and we have faced so many issues with this bookings.Firstly we got a call from hotel that agoda has booked rooms for us only for two persons and at last point,this issue was resolved.After that the facilities given to us with too many problemsafter paid huge amount.
I went with family and they have no consideration...rooms are worst quality.I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the room we stayed in. One of the most significant issues we encountered was with the bed. We have booked king sized bed but they have given two single beds joined. We have a baby of 4 years and was very difficult to take rest because of joint.It was extremely uncomfortable and making it difficult for me to get a good night's sleep.When we talked about to change it,they refused as reason was no avalability and even there was foul smell in the room as well.It was very difficult to pass night there.This made for a restless and unpleasant stay.

Agoda company erroneously displayed an incorrect photo of the property, resulting in a cancellation. However, Agoda has declined to issue a refund, falsely attributing the issue to the property's denial of a refund request, when it is evidently Agoda's mistake. Following a direct complaint to the (Hotel Company), Agoda promptly updated the photo on their website.
Nevertheless, Agoda is now attempting to rectify the situation by offering a nominal compensation that amounts to less than one-third of the total financial loss incurred during this entire process.

NOTE: This review is being written after a protracted and frustrating several weeks ordeal in seeking resolution for this issue. This experience has been exceedingly disappointing and has showcased a marked lack of professionalism on the part of Agoda.

I had recently travelled to Penang and stay in Kimberly Hotel with bad experiences which my review is true but only 2 stars to them and Agoda did not post it where else my other 2 hotel is excellent it post it.
The hotel I book for 3 nights and instead of staying full I book another hotel Eastin for my last two nites.
* wasn't customers review should be posted whether is good n bad, so that Hotel management should try to improve it when is Bad?!

I've used Agoda a lot in the past and 10 days ago I made a Jakarta hotel reservation.Payment taken from my Bank,no confirmation received by Agoda.Checked using my Agoda A/C,no booking details and no way of getting past the AI to ask why.Rang the hotel direct and they confirmed my reservation as having being made by Agoda,even giving me a reservation number

Bottom line,these people are sharks interested only in flogging you countless add ons without doing the basic job.Book direct with the Hotel as I will in future

Agoda cheating website

I have booked double bedroom in hotel in Vellore for 2 adults + 1 child and paid amount online through Agoda website. To my surprise, booking confirmation received for single occupancy. Hotel team demanded extra amount for 3 occupancy purpose. We should ban Agora website for cheating.

Don't Book

Book room for $66. Got their front desk refused room without $100 deposit. Online site didnt say anything about deposit. Discriminatory language and actions were given from front desk. Was asked to leave or calling police. Never raised voice or acted disrespectful, disorderly. Was told to get out. Management wouldn't ever refund your money. Wyndham center of city Tucson. Beware. Don't book ever. I had just got off work tired just wanted to sleep still haven't received 1 cent. Don't trust any of these people or sites

Cancellation Policy

On September 24,2023. I made a reservation online for arrival of 9/30/2023 in Jacksonville FL but, was unable to keep reservation. On 9/26/2023, I contacted customer service asked for a different arrival date they refuse to make any changes or modifications to my reservation or refund payment to my credit card.

Bait and switch, dishonest.

I booked a room for the 2nd of September 2023, when the b9oking was emailed to me, it stated the 5th of September. I called them immediately and the said there wasn't anything they could do about it. I still stayed there on the second, but booked it through Priceline.

ITS A SCAM

I booked a room thinking I was going to get the cheapest rate and they instantly take my money. So I'm like ok let's head over right away. I get to the hotel. And the hotel says there is no knowledge of me booking a room. Now I'm receiving emails saying the hotel stated I never showed up to the property when I'm sure they got cameras. Cause why lie like this.
