Affirm Reviews Summary

The company has garnered a mix of feedback, with some customers appreciating its long-standing reliability and ease of use for financing purchases. However, a significant number of reviews highlight persistent issues with customer service, including unresponsive support, difficulties in account management, and problems with payment processing. Many users express frustration over identity verification hurdles and lack of resolution for payment disputes, which has negatively impacted their credit scores. Overall, while the service has potential, its current execution leaves much to be desired, leading to a growing sentiment of dissatisfaction among users.

An update to my review:
I was able to work with affirm via email customer service and they ended up refunding the amount in question plus interest that I had paid.

They still get their interest
November 30, 2020
Previous review

I am finding with affirm that I returned a large sum back to walmart.com which totaled $930. Affirm is continuing to get my payments plus interest on this amount that has been refunded from the vendor. They say that the refunds can take up to 45 days… This is unheard of. Why would it take that long ever? So meanwhile they are ensuring that they are getting their interest off of your monthly payments on an amount that has already been returned from the vendor. I find this fraudulent and deceitful.

They are great
January 19, 2021

I am on my second loan with affirm. They only do a soft pull on credit and give what I need without charging the interest rate of my credit card. I can pay it off at my convenience with no early payment penalties. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

I set up a vacation package with Priceline to LA. I used and was approved for the loan through Affirm. The order went through and was completed on 10/21. On 10/22 i called customer service to confirmed everything went through since I didnt receive an email confirmation. The phone rep stated everything was good and I dont need to do anything else now. I should receive an email in 24hrs. I called back on 10/23 and spoke with another rep who stated that there must have been a glitch in the system and Priceline did not receive the order for my Hotal and air plane tickets. The rep tells me that I need to do the oprder over again. Once im online to place the order, now the flight is $238 more than it was 2 days ago. I spoke with two supervisors that claims there is nothing they can do and they will not pay the difference since their system messed up and the phone rep gave me wrong information.

***DO NOT USE AFFIRM. THEIR SYSTEM IS SCREWED UP AND CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT IS NO HELP*****

Ignore my first comment
October 2, 2020
Updated review

I forgot all about my comment until I signed on sitejabber today. Affirm, is actually a really good shopping financing aide. I had 3 since I wrote this comment, I paid all of them off early and had zero problems with Affirm. I did direct debit so I never missed my payment by forgetting the date. The interest was cheaper than most credit cards and some merchants do not charge any interest. Now you have 1 year to pay off the debt. I will be using them again. Now if there is any problems with being turned down. Email them immediately, AS long as your current with them, you should get approved.

Date of experience: October 1, 2020

Its not bad if you need something and cant get a credit card or loan. But they inconsistenta. One day your approved. Tomorrow your not. Even though your credit improved. Its not reliable. I was approved for a $400 t. V. from swellmart. After reading the reviews of the t. V. I decided. I wanted a different. So I cancelled the order. After it was reported to affirm the order was cancelled. I applied for the one I wanted. The same price range. But was declined. I now have to loans through them. IM half way paid off on both and wanted to see what I qualify for, I was declined for any amount, yet my credit score went up almost a 100 points since I got my first approval. LIke I said, you can rely on them. If your get approve that moment. Dont think you can come back a week later and get it. You most certainly wont.

I have fair credit 650+ and a perfect payment history for the past 7 years other than a couple of hospital bills and this affirm joke of a company denies my application without anything but my phone number, not even my name or social so it has to be some type of scam, and after reading their site reviews I'm not surprised, needless to say I just used my credit card that I have a perfect record with I just thought at first I would give them a shot but am feeling much better now that I did not.

SCAM!
June 21, 2020

I was approved 2 years ago for $2,500 from Affirm. Didn't trust them, didn't so it. Now, I tried to get a $300 item, figured I would use Affirm as I just didn't want to pay all at once. So check it, when I made $50K, I was approved for $2,500, with a credit score of 670. Now that I make $71K, I can't get an approval for $350, and my credit score is a 700! LOL Predatory lending at its finest!

DO NOT USE AFFIRM!
May 18, 2020

This company is horrible. I used them to finance a product in 2019 that I never received. The company stopped replying to customers in January, which is when they lost all their money, and they didn't notify customers. They went out of business in March. There are hundreds of reports of the company going out of business but Affirm won't cancel my loan and refund payments ON A PRODUCT I NEVER RECEIVED FROM A COMPANY THAT WENT UNDER.

Affirm refuses to reply to my emails. I reported them through the BBB, the Attorney General in California, the Attorney General in my state, and the FTC. The government in Utah, where the company I purchased is located, are involved and the authorities as well. The original company is under investigation for fraud, and Affirm is now as well. They are forcing people to pay on loans to a closed company when they never received any product. They've threatened my credit if I don't keep paying.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Report your complaints to the BBB and the Attorney General in California where they are located, as well as your local Attorney General and the FTC. They need to be shut down!

Cons
September 28, 2019

The biggest scam company I've ever encountered in my life. They have an infinite amount of energy to just rip you off and lie about doing that. Just check the BBB rating. It isn't even a 2! Avoid these guys at all costs.

Affirm is an extremely dishonest company. If everything goes well with your transaction you will probably be ok. If something goes wrong, however, thru no fault of your own Affirm becomes a company that makes NO effort to solve your problem. I in seven months have never received the product I purchased. Affirm won't assist me with the two other companies involved in this mess. They literally won't dial a number and discuss this situation with another financial company to determine where missing money is located. What they will do is manipulate you into making monthly payments for a product that was never delivered. They will tell you what to do regarding placing chargeback discrepancies and then telling you it is in your best interest to end it. It sounds confusing because it is confusing. The easy part, however, it that Affirm will not help you. Affirm will help themselves. Look on any site and they have a terrible reputation. They will also threaten your credit score, which is funny and ironic, because I have a very high credit score... and they do not. AVOID AFFIRM AT ALL COSTS and do your business with someone else.

AWFUL! AVOID! LIARS AND BULLIES! I called a week before my bill was due as I was a bit short from Christmas. The female reassured me I had 30 days to pay after the due date. I was even told I could change my due date to the 31st. BUT on the 13th they overdrew my account by $95. Then they claimed the lady I spoke to a week before my bill was due was wrong. They bullied and hassled me so much, I returned the product unused. They continued to bully me even after they acknowledged I had returned the product, threatening to hurt my credit score. I cancelled that credit card last month so they didn't have access to my finances. They claimed to refund me but they couldn't have as they didn't know a valid credit card for me. February one, I wrote them asking if they could send a check. No response yet. So I wrote them and let them know I was suing them if I didn't get a check Monday. Also I am a mental health client and have been under the care of a psychiatrist since I was 13. They are aware of this approximately three weeks ago. They don't care at all. AVOID AVOID AVOID UPDATE: I took pictures of my entire account from December 15,2017 through March 15,2018. They responded they wanted only a certain section. I sent that section to them. NOTHING! AVOID AVOID AVOID!

I previously wrote about Affirm, the financing company that uses Crossroads Bank for their financing. They falsley advertised in the begining to get people in and said they don't check creit scores. Then they got this bank, Crossroads to do their dirty work and the do a "soft" credit check. I've been doing business with ReaReal, the consignment clothing site for two years. I have never been late and have paid my loans early. I got into an altercation with Affirm when they turned me down for no reason. I fought with them for treating a good customer like trash because they are too lazy to handle their own accounts and have a bank, that I have read has gotten into hot water for doing bad business, do their financial accounts now. All of a sudden they gave me a site credit and I bought a few things, just paid off a few and wanted one item for an event I have to attend. I got turned down because they said their "points system" with Transunion said I had delinquent accounts. I have one and the credit card doubled my bill and I can't get them to look into it so I won't pay it until they do. I have other credit accounts all paid to date. DO NOT deal with Affirm. They are sneaky, get people hooked on nice things they normally can't afford even with a regular credit card unless it has a high limit, and then they comb thru your personal records and send you a nice message on Affirm that you don't meet their standards. Affirm is a scam that as I said before has admitted to using algorithims as well to deny people. They don't want to do the work. Steer Clear of them. Unless you're a trust fund baby or white collar worker with a fat bank account backing up, they don't want to know you.
