Worst Customer Service
December 30, 2021

I want to start this off by saying that I'm not a customer of Young Living, but I received a package for one of its members. It was addressed to my apartment complex and I did my due diligence of posting to our apartment board to try and find the owner of the package, but when this didn't succeed, I opened the package to look for the packing slip to contact Young Living. I have been on a run around with this company for the past 3 weeks since contacting the customer service email (the only contact method listed within the package, mind you) who kept telling me they would send me a paid return label to my email that I could print out to mail the package back. The first email that told me this said that we could call to discuss further - not sure why I would have to discuss receiving a return label, so I replied that they could just send it to me. The response time by email was inconsistent and I often received messages at 10pm/11pm - I know the US has a variety of time zones and I'm EST, but this would be outside of most business hours for even PST businesses.

Now we're multiple emails in and I've been told that I would receive a return label by email, but the only thing I've received is an "order confirmation" addressed to the original customer.

Beyond these slights which are already an indicator of poor customer service, there was a lot to be said about the packing itself. Even without opening the package, I could tell that items inside were damaged from the smell (I know they're essential oils and you could DEFINITELY smell them) and several items looked damaged when I retrieved the packing slip to attempt to call the company. I did not mess with the items, but it did not appear that the company did anything to protect the fragile items inside of the box.

Lastly, I still don't know how this was even delivered to my door. The address on the original label is to my apartment complex with no apartment unit number indicated. I'm towards the back of the complex on the second story which seems to be an oddly specific place to drop off a package that's not marked for here. I don't know why this would've come to me to begin with and I don't really know if that's Young Living's fault or not, but I am terribly confused.

Also, if the customer lives in the building? I'd much rather have had Young Living contact her so we wouldn't have to go through this hassle and we could just exchange the package. My guess is she's either already received a refund or a replacement package and Young Living just wants its stuff back at my hassle.

I love using essential oils and I've even looked into Young Living's products before, but I will never be a customer to them after this experience.

What a scam! I have been involved with this company for years and there is no support in trying to help someone build their status or growth. A lot of nepotism!

Way too expensive
December 17, 2021

The priice of oils is totally ridiculous, I guess it says a lot when better business review is 1.8. Used them for four months and they act like they are giving you money off. Try to use the points, no go. Plus they expire which they didnt bother to tell me. Oh well, live and learn

Customer service sucks
December 15, 2021

I have been a Young Living member for 30 years. Over those 30 years, I have seen and experienced the steady deterioration of their customer service when you need answers to their shipping mistakes, order mistakes, and billing mistakes. It's such a royal pain to have to deal with these issues several times a year when ordering my monthly auto ship order, or in redeeming my reward points. Sometimes it takes HOURS for them to get a customer service agent on your phone call to them. This company makes MILLIONS of dollars from people like me. It's only a matter of time before I dump them, and find another company that has respect for the people who keep them in business! THAT'S ALL...

High quality, beyond organic standards,
December 14, 2021

Young Living is an amazing company! Seed to Seal promise on the purity of all their products! The ONLY essential oil company that will allow you to come and visit the farms and actually see how things are done first hand! The Young Living Foundation helps support several causes, putting an end to human trafficking is only one of them.

Rip off
December 7, 2021

I wanted to love YL… I wanted to believe that YL had values as a company and cared about their customers, however after 5 months of giving them the benefit of the doubt, I am convinced this company is shady as hell. I like the oils. I truly believe that YL reps believe in the company and products, and are not intentionally trying to sell you highly over priced products. I know they are convinced and I don't blame them. But I'm here to tell you, the benefits of being a YL customer are zero… it's a lose, lose. Products are way overpriced, takes forever and a day to receive your shipment via snail mail, they Nickel and dime you… Rewards program I believe to be a scam. Customer service is terrible. There are quite a few more reputable essential oil companies out there that offer better incentives for customers (ie. Free shipping on every order, or free shipping with an order of $35 or more). Don't get caught up in the hype. This company is all about taking you for every dime they can get out of you. Here are some examples of my experience with YL in the past 5 months. 1. Ordered starter kit with diffuser (I think the diffuser is usually around $70). This diffuser is made of cheap plastic and broke 3 weeks later. 2.2nd order I ordered subscribe to save $50 plus an additional order of $100. Got free shipping and I was able to earn $5 rewards points. Next month, I ordered $50 via subscription (they charge you $7 for shipping on top of that plus taxes.) It comes out to be like $63 by the time it's all said and done. They did not give me credit on my account for consecutive months and did not give me rewards points for that subscription order. I contacted customer service. It took forever to get someone (chat). Then the YL employee was asking me all these questions to prove my identity before she could answer any questions I had. I'm like I have the order number…nope that wasn't good enough. I had to answer questions to prove it was really me… "please verify at least 3 things you ordered on your last order" there were at least 4 more random questions of that nature before she would talk to me. This process of verifying my identity took about 30 minutes. Finally, I was able to ask my question. I asked why I didn't get credit for rewards last subscription order. She said she would fix my account and update it in the system. For a couple of days it was correct in the system, then my rewards points went back to zero and I had credit for zero consecutive months of subscription.
2. I placed my 3rd $50+ subscription order during their Black Friday week sale. I was not able to get the oils I purchased on subscription for the Black Friday discount even though they were 30% off that same day… I had to pay full price for them. I also placed a "one time order" at the same time so I could get some of the oils on sale. I spent $80. $80+ $50=$130. I should have qualified for free shipping but the non customer friendly YL website charged me $7 shipping for the $50 order and $7 shipping for the $80 order. $14 to ship like 5 oils via the US postal service regular ground shipping. I called immediately after placing my order and (again had to go through the ridiculous process of verifying my identity). I said I need the shipping on my order waived because I spent $130 and I was charged twice for shipping. Customer service told me that the "subscription" and "one time" orders cannot be combined even if done at the same time. I said okay, but I still spent over the $100 minimum to get free shipping so can you please waive the shipping. She had to talk to her manager. She comes back and says "I cannot waive the shipping charge, I can either give you a $12 (? Not $14!) credit to your account or add $20 (point value) to your account." Sounds very shady to me. By the way… ordered 14 days ago both orders happen to have the exact same usps tracking number. According to the tracking info, both orders are still awaiting arrival at a usps facility. I ordered oils from another company 2 days ago, received free shipping (also shipped by usps) according to the tracking info on that order I'm receiving it this week on Thursday. Not sure where my $130+ $14 shipping YL order is or when it will arrive. I really now believe YL is a scam to nickle and dime it's customers for each little thing and cut corners when possible. Oh I asked for my reward points be updated for September and October because they didn't automatically update. I'm pretty sure now my November subscription points are not showing correctly on my account. Too many issues to be a fluke. I smell a scam. I have not had any issues whatsoever with the other essential oil companies I purchase from. If your searching, I recommend Eden's garden, Plant Therepy, Revive, and Jade Bloom over YL.

I've been using YL for a couple years and honestly LOVE the oils. The oils are great and I have never had any issues with the quality or packaging. What I have had repeated issues with- is the customer service and shipping. It took over a month for my last subscription to be delivered and they sent it to the wrong address, and I have no way of getting to it since its a PO BOX. So they sent me a "replacement", which I'm not hopeful will arrive to the right spot.

And, they don't do refunds so I'm sure I'll be out another $100. I was supposed to be refunded for an incorrect order a couple months ago, but it has not appeared on my bank statements?

I really do love YL, but their customer service reps are not helpful at all. Every month I feel like I'm giving them a second chance.

Worst experience ever
October 8, 2021

Any time I needed to contact customer service, there would always be a minimum of 2 hour wait. They could never completely help you with whatever issue you had. I only bought oils for them for 3 months and it was the worst experience I have ever had with poor service. One month it took 3 weeks for my oils to be delivered! The oils are overpriced, and you are stuck ordering every month in order to earn "loyalty rewards". It's not worth it. I have since changed to Revive Essential Oils, and they ship fast, customer service is wonderful, no minimum order required!

Young Living went through some changes. They now want you to spend a minimum of $100 per month to get the same perks one used to earn for $50. For that reason, I cancelled my membership. All was well for a few months, but then they sent a shipment I did not order and charged money without permission. They gave a refund and assured me it would never happen again. They assured me my account was closed. It happened again this month! They charged me again and sent another package I did not order. It is not legal to take money you have not been authorized to take. I strongly advise using a different company than Young Living for your oils. Their greed got the better of them.

Should get ZERO stars
August 15, 2021

What a horrible company. I ordered the Alkalime which I think is an excellent product because my friend let me try it. My first order arrived damaged. They shipped a plastic container in a regular (non padded) envelope so the container was broken open and unusable powder everywhere! I couldn't get a person on the phone, nobody responded to email so I used the online chat feature. It took 1 1/2 hours of my time for the person to confirm my order and agree to refund my money. I asked for a refund as opposed to them shipping another bottle for fear the same thing would happen. I wanted the refund and then be able to go on line and order the version that is individual packets which is shipped in a box. So finally she agreed to give me a refund. Great. Then I get an email that they are going to send me a return label so now I have to spend another 30 minutes of my time to go somewhere to send it. And the kicker is this…. They are deducting $6.95 from my refund to cover the shipping to send back a damaged product. So basically, it cost me 2 hours of my time and $6.95 of my money to purchase something from them that I don't have. Now isn't that special? And I don't have it in me to go back on the chat line to complain about the $6.95 cause I'm sure that will take a minimum of another hour of my time. Writing this review is even more of my time, but I want people to know what a horrible company this is. I spend thousands of dollars on line every year and I never have to deal with a company like this. WORST customer service and policies EVER! Don't give this company any of your money. What a joke.

This company expects you to sell so much per month so if you can not sell over 100.00 a month do not bother and i personally received an order that had leaked out of the cap and they would not replace it at full value. Now i am trying to close my account and use my acquired points to buy product and offered to pay for shipping but so far they have charged me twice for the products. Hours of on line chat and holding on phone.so now unfortunately my credit card company has to be my protection. Way
to expensive, slow shipping and no support

I have never been so excited and then let down by a company in my life! They are LIARS, you can't return anything without a fine or penalty. Best part without you knowing they change your status so that you are unable to chat or call with a complaint. I'm packaging EVERY single item I have open/unopened and returning. Calling my bank and reporting fraud as these products are not marketed as stated and it's a total SCAM. $600 in oils is unheard of, I don't give a flying F*** how good they "good" "natural" "pure" they are. When I lived in London and ordered from Neal's Yard, 1st they were 1/50 the price, pure and there wasn't a hidden membership. MLM schemes are what they are schemes and thieves! I will loose a friend over this, however I'm so mad at this point I don't even give a rat's a**. THIS IS BEYOND SCAM!

Best products ever!
July 12, 2021

I have been using Young Living products since 2009 after I had cancer. I wanted to change the trajectory of my health, and I HAVE! I'm shocked at the reviews on here because I have never experienced anything but positive results from the products and the company itself! I have gotten replacement products when needed and customer service has been great! Shipping was a bit slow last year in 2020 but what WAS normal last year? Don't believe all these crappy 1 star reviews! I'd be willing to bet there's an ulterior motive going on there! Try it for yourself! You'll never regret it and never go back to using synthetic products again!

I was disappointed to find phtalates and PEG ingredients in their lavender shampoo and conditioner. Apparently, they are now changing the formula. Their reply was that they are careful not to exceed the acceptable levels that are non-toxic for these questionable ingredients. There is no way they have enough research funds to test the efficacy of each and every product, especially when they cover such a wide range. This should be a good indication to many consumers that there are ample more professional brands out there that are keeping within similar guidelines and may be more effective than Young living products, probably more affordable too (I am not referring to supermarket brands!).

Yes, some of the products are great, some are also over priced due to the pyramid scheme that has to pay a salary to all those recruited down the pyramid.

To live and breathe this brand ONLY is foolish and shows misinformation!

I purchased a $36 vanilla oil and it has very little smell to it (if any). I was told by the company that you can't guarantee your products - not even a trade up. Pretty bad business for oils that are 4 times the price of others and are supposed to be high grade.

When I started with this business, they had some nice perks to incentivize you into their rewards program. Over the past two years these have dwindled to where you get only a newsletter and you don't even have the environmental friendly option of opting out of that needless piece of self-aggrandisement. And they tell you that you can switch your delivery dates to get an order early but what they don't tell you is that you can NEVER switch it back, allegedly b/c they are so busy. And you do earn points but you can't use them on many oils and you can't use them with your ER Rewards. You have to pay for the shipping, even though that's less friendly to the planet. More money making for this behomoth. And customer service even told me that they are getting tons of complaints and that they don't agree with the changes being made. It's just not worth the hassle. Use Doterra.
