WeightWatchers Reviews Summary

The company enjoys a long-standing reputation for its weight management programs, with some customers appreciating the app's functionality and ease of use. However, a significant number of reviews highlight persistent issues with customer service, particularly regarding billing practices and the difficulty of canceling memberships. Many customers express frustration over unexpected charges and a lack of transparency in subscription terms. Additionally, the frequent changes to the program structure are seen as detrimental, especially for those with specific dietary needs. Overall, while the brand has loyal followers, it faces considerable challenges in customer satisfaction and service reliability.

Years ago I could make recipes, type in the ingredients, and a point value would be provided. No longer. I could track walking by the minute, not anymore. Trying to find things within the app is ridiculous. When navigating for anything it keeps looping back to selling something, either foods or exercise programs. Not happy about that. Finding my zero point foods (didn't know I had to memorize them the first time they were created) took me several YouTube videos. Contacting someone for help about the app, nonexistent. Overall the diet makes sense but if there are 20 YouTube videos just to show you how to navigate the app, then it must be harder than it should be for someone who's just trying to change her eating habits.

Cancellation fee
March 9, 2022

When you don't want to renew a subscription they hit you with a $41.00 cancellation fee. NEVER again WW. There are several other online apps to help people track their meals.

I have been a Weight Watchers life time member since the 80's. Unfortunately I had to return. I returned to my goal weight in 2019 and remained at goal through the pandemic. WW permanently shut down the WW studio I attended. As a Life time member at goal, you did not pay unless you were over goal weight. When they shut down in person meetings/studio, they offered on line meetings. I chose not to attend. Then WW decided they would change their policy and require you to sign in and report your weight despite life time status. They then charged my Credit Card for not signing in and recording my weight. When I caught on to this scam I called and cancelled my membership with a live representative, who apparently did not cancel my membership. I asked for a refund for the charges and was told a manager would contact me. Surprise they never did. However now they claim a manager contacted me via voice mail. They did not charge me for a couple months after I canceled may 2021. Then in October 2021 they decided they needed to resume charging me the monthly fee. When I called they said they had no record of me canceling and couldn't explain why they didn't charge me for 5 months but resumed for 6 months. They are now saying they can't help me from 2020 because I didn't return their voicemail. It is unfortunate because the program is great, however the management is very poor.

Rip off!
August 16, 2021

Weight Watchers is a joke! When I signed up for a special 3 month free trial, I didn't know I was signing up for 6 months total! 2 months after I canceled, they charged me $21.95. When I called them, they told me I was out of luck and if I wanted to cancel AGAIN, I would have to pay $41!
There website is confusing and very misleading so I'm paying for absolutely nothing! Way to go Weight Watchers, my review for you would be a big 0 if that was an option!

The WW 'Offer' 'Get 3 Months FREE' is actually misleading. I signed up, thinking I'd take a look, but wanted off after 14 days, due to unexpected circumstances - I hadn't used the service, and didn't wish to. I was shocked to find I was unable to 'cancel my subscription' and that the 'Ts&Cs' outlined I had to pay for at least 2 months before I could 'Cancel'. This is a disgraceful way to conduct business: to make an 'Offer' that is worded in a way that in fact doesn't make the truth clear to the customer. I am so shocked by these under-handed tactics by Weight Watchers. I wouldn't recommend being lured in by this misleading 'offer'.

I am a dietitian and have heard my clients using this app so decided to check it out. It was not for me. The quality of foods they recommend and try to sell you with fake sugars, preservatives are not actually healthy. They are advertising healthy to make a profit. Plus the app does not provide any information as to the nutrients you are getting. If you eat part of an avocado or some nuts it shoots your points through the roof making you not want to eat these healthy foods that are so good for you even to help with weight loss. I hated this app and when I went to cancel they actually charged me $45 more dollars to just cancel. All in the fine print. I thought I was signing up for a 3 month trial period and could cancel without penalty. Waste of money if you ask me. My fitness pal is free and gives you an idea of how many nutrients you are having too. The quality of our food matters!

I cancelled my subscription THREE years ago but they continued to charge me. The only refund they offered was three months when they charged me for three YEARS! The staff on the phone were very unprofessional as they did not document information that I provided. I had to take time out of my teaching day at home and waste my time on the phone with these people. I wrote to the CEO and hope I get better results. Will NEVER join company again! Very quick to take your cash but when asked for a refund because of miscommunication they were NOT supportive at all. Will ensure to advise other fellow colleagues to STAY AWAY from.WW.

Don't buy Chocolate Anything in the Summer
June 17, 2021

PSA Don't order anything chocolate from WW during the summer. I have a store or studio near by but it is open with very limited hours and I kept missing them. So I decided to order online, only to receive my items melted and reconstituted, making the chocolate grainy and certainly less tasty. When I called WW I was told their refund or exchange policy excludes chocolate in the summer. Seems to me if they can't guarantee delivery in the state and consistency under which it is sold, they should stop sales in the summer. Her only solution was giving me a 20% coupon code for a future order. After blowing $50 on melted bars, this girl won't be making any future orders so I politely declined. Disappointed! Was looking forward to my chocolate treats.

My breakfasts
March 28, 2021

Here I moved, for the first time started by going to the store and buying an apple cinnamon oatmeal for her morning breakfasts. The goods arrived and my morning, which gradually turned into a day, began with a wonderful breakfast of oatmeal. The taste is delicious, the setting is positive. I think that I will continue to buy goods from the range I saw. I am almost your regular customer.

Waste of money
March 6, 2021

I am very unhappy with the service as I believed that I would get a meal plan, as provided while reading the marketing info. Instead I still have to decide on meals. As my Fitbit provides all the other functionality for reporting food, sleep, etc. this is a complete waste of money. Also, zero refunds and I am locked in for 6 months instead of the 3 that was advertised. My recommendation is DON'T buy this.

The most difficult nutrition app I've ever used
February 27, 2021

We regret this purchase and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
I've spent considerable time trying to understand the app with minimal results. It is the most counter intuitive app I've ever seen. No real dashboard to track your meals.
You seem to have to enter everything from scratch every time you want to enter a snack or meal. No caloric or nutritional totals to review just their stupid point system. Lots of dead end links that tell you nothing or take you nowhere.
It seems to be a marketing tool not a diet app. Definitely not designed with clients in mind just their bottom line.
Good luck trying to cancel, you'll pay a fee to do that. Horrible customer service and support if you can find it.
Just an awful experience overall.

Read terms, closely.
February 22, 2021

My bad, I did not read their terms, closely. I thought I brought a three month plan with an end. I WAS WRONG. My bad. MY suggestion is this: if you are going to doing something nice for your customer do it all the way. Don't suck them in and then hammer them. Shady Business at best.

I believe this program works for many, however, customer service is horrible. They were extremely rude and refused to answer my question... how to cancel or place on hold my membership due to job loss. They passed me off to 4 different representatives and "accidentally" disconnected my call. When I contacted them immediately after, I was kept on hold for 39 mins and then the representative rattled off a scripted response, told me good luck and hung up. I was beyond shocked, especially due to my remaining friendly throughout the entire exchange. I will never return to WW!
