We signed up with Waste Management about a year ago for our new home. They frequently don't show on schedule, and sometimes not at all. Recycling is only every other week which is not enough in this day and age. Very poor value for what we are paying.
They do not pick up the garbage every week, cannot get a real person on the phone. They give a huge attitude if they call you though. They do not deserve the 1 star rating. Too bad zero stars is not an option. I will never recommend this company. They overcharge for their lack of service.
I always put my bins out every Thursday night for Friday morning pick up. I noticed Friday the 27th of January bin was the only one left full and never picked up. I've been calling since Friday the 27th at 10:00am and my bin is still full on the curb and it is now Thurs February 2nd. I've called them at least 25 times in total and they NEVER pick it up! I pick up trash 2 to 3 times a day that the crows pick out of my trash bin. They are horrible people who don't care about their customers. Tomorrow is pick up day again January 3rd. All the stress they cause and they show that it doesn't matter what you think as long as you pay your bill on time you really don't matter.
WARNING! They are CRIMINALS. They lied, STEEL, and charged our card hundreds of dollars without our AUTHORIZATION. They said they would credit it back to our account...then never did. Look at all the claims filed against them on the Better Business Beuor there were over 1000 complaints in the past year.
I got stuck with Waste Management after they took over Norton and thought they would continue to honor previous fees. Last year, without prior notice they raised the price of the dumpster pick up from $42 to $152 per call, even though whenever I've called in the past, the pick up is scheduled for their regularly scheduled dumpster pick-up in the area, which does not cost them anything extra to pick up mine. There was no prior notification, other than a note on the invoice AFTER the service was provided giving me no chance to say no. Even worse, to cancel the dumpster service, they make you jump through hoops and send registered letters and even make you pay a $215 dumpster removal fee. Worst company to do business with ever! Stay local!
In addition, you prepay for your service, so if you cancel, you're not getting refunded money for services not rendered. No matter how much you try, you don't get any money back. They put all their "contract notices" on the invoice that they charge you $5 to get so read that carefully.
Called to order a bin for a job site for 4-6 month period. They directed us to there website to book the bin and in doing this it signs you up for a year contract. Tried to cancel the bin and have it removed and now you have to jump through hoops, send in a registered letter requesting cancellation, then it takes 90 days from the cancellation notice to have the bin removed and they are still going to charge out 6 months as liquidated damages, plus bin removal fees. Don't waste your time or money trying to deal with these scam artists.
Several times in the last month our garbage and recycling has not been picked up. Drivers have stated our cans were not out when they get put out the night before, they picked up when they haven't, can was "stuck" ( never came at all). And forget about someone calling you back when they say they will! Many excuses to not pick up. Very disappointed in this company!
WM disposal residential services. Just want everyone to beware. If you pay ahead and want to cancel they will not return your money. You can cancel anytime you want, however if you have paid ahead you will not get that money back. No refund for paid ahead time. Do month to month payment as you can cancel anytime.
I had this company back in 2000 and they had problems picking up my trash. I had to call them a lot about it. The person I contacted defended their poor service. She didn't seem to care or listen. I told her once that I watched them pick up my next door neighbor's trash and not mine. The neighbor had a different company. I wanted to know why there was a problem getting consistent service. They couldn't give me a reason. I got fed up and changed garbage companies even though I had to pay more. It was worth it because the other company never missed a week.
My pick up day is Monday and it still has not been picked up.
I looked online and nothing about pickup delays. My neighbors all have their trash on the side of street and no one's picked it up. This is crappy customer support.

Drove right by container with no pick up of any in the alley, then claimed to office that they could not get in the alley because of snow, lie, lie, lie. If the driver lied about that, what else is he lying about. Local office could have cared less about the problem. Typical of a company who has a lock on the town with a contract that prevents other companies from providing services.
I have used Waste Management for trash service for years without complaint in Columbus Ohio. After moving to Evansville, Ind and buying a house I chose to go with Waste Management again. My pickup date for both my trash and recycle was on Thursday 12-28-2022. My trash and recycle were both put on the curb on Wednesday the day before my trash date. My trash was picked up but not my recyclables. On Friday Waste Management was called and I was promised my recyclables would be picked up on Tuesday 01-03-23. Waste Management was called again, and a supervisor told me a recyclables truck did not even come to my house on 12-28-22 and I would have to wait for my next scheduled recyclables pickup date on 01-12-23. Now my recyclables have been out on the curb for 5 days already through at least 2 rainstorms and some of it is now wet and I have water in the recycle can. This is uncalled for and poor management to just arbitrarily cancel a pickup without any warning especially after a Christmas Holiday. I would not recommend Waste Management services at all in Evansville, Ind.
I'm in constant contact with this company, my pickup is missed so much and they absolutely refuse to acknowledge it as an issue with his morning the drive marked that my cans was not out and yet I have security footage of the driver driving right past my house not the first time this has happened I am supposed to have pickup 8 times a month I'm luck to get 4 and they refuse to pick up on that day, I even order and pay for a second trash can due to this issue I think it's outrageous that I have to pay for another van because they don't render services I pay for already
Basically, these guys will come when they want, change schedules when they want and then lie and say you were serviced when you were not. Dont bother calling for help because you being worried about standing garbage is not their concern. The staff answering the phone could not care less about its customers. You better keep up with the bill though as they will collection you and cut service if you are a day late.
They constantly delay pickup. We had an inch of snow so they delayed the trash until the next week...7 days! Then when I put out extra trash they issued me a warning that I put out too much trash. They also charged me for the pickup that they cancelled. TERRIBLE SERVICE.
I cannot get Waste Management to pick up my recycling. Cannot contact a living person. I am paying for a service that I am not receiving.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH WM. There contracts are one sided. They renew without your knowledge. Their prices depend on who you are dealing with, and the increases can be monthly. They will go down for several months and then right back up only higher. Hold time on any call is always 10 minutes or more - They promise but don't deliver. If you want out of a contract it is very costly - in the thousands. Just stay away.
I have experienced 10 plus years of hit or miss field and customer service as a residential customer of WM in my area. To many negative experiences to list in the last decade with WM. I mostly experienced frequent missed service all times of the year and especially in the winter. WM seems to be plagued by lame excuses and unprofessional rude customer service when you call to report a missed service even@ the corporate level. Monopoly/contracts by the state or city will produce a tyrannical attitude in a corporation as in my local WM. The proof is in the pudding and the reason for infamous low online reviews for WM. Paying customers deserve a much higher standard and the reviews reflect this.
I cancelled service wtih Waste Management of Port Huron Michigan back in July 2022 over the phone. They assured me the container would be picked up and there would be no problems. I had difficulties getting through to the company over the phone to cancel but finally did. But they've been billing me since July and are now upping the charges. I don't have service with you any longer. And I am not sure how to communicate with this company because I can't get through by phone, their website is ridiculous and the chat feature is a joke. They are ripping off the public and people should stay far away from this compnay.
Answer: Apparently it is how they conduct business by being as rude and unethical as possible. I hope they did not steal from you as well.
