I have been shopping with drugstore.com for many years and I thought they were great. I had a problem with the last order I placed. Coupons were offered for the items I purchased so I clicked on them and they were added to my basket with the amount deducted. When it was time to checkout, I double checked to make sure all the amounts were correct before I placed the order. The next day I wanted to check on the order, and I found out that the coupons were never applied. I called customer service and they did offer me a refund.
Today I just placed another order that offered coupons for certain items. But this time, before I placed the order, I copied the screen to an email so I could check it against the actual order that was placed. The coupons were never applied and the total of the order was more than what I approved it for. Please BEWARE of this! I wonder how many times this has happened to me in the past.
I've ordered from drugstore.com for years and have always been happy. Their email reminders are helpful so that I can remember what I ordered and order it again.
Ordered from Vision direct for years - they repeatedly failed to honour their promised FREE POSTAGE for returning customers- I had to ask them every month to deduct the postage- clearly not to be trusted to delver their promotions- probably lots of returning customers do not challenge this so they make money on unclaimed promotions- The last straw for me was when they messed up a repeat monthly order and refused to take responsibility for their error- which cost me money- following my complaint they have taken money out of my bank account for my monthly lenses and failed to deliver them to me- But most disturbing is the fact that they are now claiming the order was delivered to me- ( I must have been in a coma when they arrived and forgot)! Yes very unlikely
AVOID THIS COMPANY BECAUSE AT SOME POINT THEY WILL COST YOU MONEY AND STRESS.
I am now taking them to court.
Within a few hours this company messed up my first order. I would not take my chances with vision direct. Sometime it is worth paying a couple extra bucks. Customer sevice seemed like they listened and were nice, and I spoke to four different people within a few hours. Ultimately I was able to learn not to do business with a company that does not listen to the customer, unable to bill the correct amount the first time, has a reputation of operating incontinence. Hope someone reads the reviews before seeing their lower prices that drag people in
My ordering and receipt of contact lens experience with Vision Direct was fantastic. I was hesitant after reading some of the bad reviews that people gave online, but wasn't in a hurry to receive my order so I placed the order and thought "lets see how this goes". What a pleasant surprise to have my contacts shipped and received in less than 5 days! I'm a firm believer in giving praise where due and it is certainly due to Vision Direct.
I have a lifetime membership with Team National and since Drugstore.com is one of their affiliates, I get a percentage back on everything I purchase from them. I have used them regularly now for several years for many of my household and personal use needs. I like the previous purchased history they provide that allows me to select items that I buy regularly without searching for them again. They also offer additional discounts and coupons on many items that makes this site a no-brainer for me. Although there are some instances where I pay slightly more for some items, I consider myself still ahead since I can shop, place my order and receive it without ever leaving my home.
With all they have to offer, I have found their site pretty easy to navigate and searches are accurate and fast.
I ordered replacement rigid gas permeable lens on line from VisionDirect on 6/19/14 and faxed them the prescription from my optometrist the same day. Received back an email confirmation that my order was complete. Over the next several weeks, I experienced multiple problems with VisionDirect. It took a full week, until 6/26 before VD told me there would be an additional charge to make my lens. I paid the extra charge immediately. A week later I called customer service and was told there had been some miscommunication with their lab so my lens still had not been made. It is now 3 weeks since I placed the order and I was just emailed that the lens is only now being shipped to me. Luckily, after the first snafu, I decided to order a duplicate lens from a competitor, www.RGPlens.com. I received the lens from RGP a week later--no problem, plus they charged less than VisionDirect for the same lens. If you need a rigid gas permeable lens, avoid VisionDirect and go with a more professional operation, like RGP--that's my lesson.
I ordered my contacts from vision direct prior to reading any reviews. Pretty stupid I know. After reading all the reviews, I became super nervous and was worried I made a huge mistake just to save some money. I got a year supply for less then a 6 months supply from my doctor with the new customer discount. To my surprise, they exceeded my expectations. My experience was flawless. I placed my order on 7/3/14 and it shipped on 7/4/14. Yes it shipped on a holiday. I recieved my contacts 3 days later on 7/7/14. My contacts arrived on time and with no damage. Although I am only wearing my first pair now for all of a 1/2 day, I have no complaints. I don't normally write reviews but I had to put my two cents in because the negative out weights the postitive on here.
Like others was leery about ordering from Vision Direct because of reviews but had to say experience was great! My order (filled correctly) was delivered in 9 business days which is reasonable when coming from another country). In the past when I order tmy lenses from the optometrist and still take 5 plus business days to come in.\
The biggest difference was the price - a 12 month supply of lenses from Visin Direct was less than 1/2 the cost of a 6 month supply from optometrist.
And, when I e-mailed them with a question I had a response in less than 2 hours.
My expectations were reasonable and service good - will definitely use them again!
VisionDirect.com seems to have two major problems. Firstly, there is no system of inventory control on their website. When you order a product, you have no idea if they have it in stock, thus you might get your contacts in three days or two weeks. Even something simple, like - "In Stock" / "In Stock in 3 Days", etc - would go a long way to assisting customers in their buying decisions.
The next main problem, is that when you call the customer service reps (who incidentally, are readily available 24 hours a day), they have no access to inventory levels. Seriously, they are the voice of the company, and they have no access to useful information. I can only assume that's why wait times to speak to them are so short - as once you get hold of them, they have nothing useful to say.
Luckily, if you are on your last pair of contacts, leaving in a pair of Contact Lenses for a couple of weeks more is no big problem, so there is no urgent reason for VisionDirect to fix this.
Then, once VisionDirect has your order, they then like to keep shipping delays a secret. They have no system in place to pro-actively inform customers; and why should they, Customers will only bother then with tiresome questions, such as "Why do my eyes sting", and "What are these red spot appearing near my nose?'
Overall there are many better Contact Lens providers to choose from. If your eyes are important to you. You should probably shop elsewhere.
Be sure to read their return policy before ordering - very rigid. Basically, if you open the package you own it. They do not stand by their products whatsoever! Purchased dual Febreze NOTICEables in the Gain Scent that give both my wife and myself headaches. No options to return or receive another scent.
Run from Vision Direct (VD) as fast as you can! My experience: 5/15 ordered with scanned prescription. 5/23 received no word from VD, I call them and discover that prescription was verified on 5/20 and it will take another 4-7 days to get lenses out to me. 6/2 advised VD that prescription is wrong, VD stated they told me their was a problem but DR said it was ok. Untrue - they never contacted me about prscription differences. Must send me refund because they "can't" apply the dollars to a correct order per the prescription they already have. Sent me return label. Mailed 6/5 rec'd by VD on 6/12 "In Processing". 6/17 I write: where's my refund. They state can take 30 days to process. I say process unopened, returned lenses ASAP. 6/18 I write, where's my refund and I will file PayPal complaint if they do not refund ASAP. They tell me that "If you file a PayPal complaint it will delay processing my next order". I say process ASAP. 6/23 I write "Refund my money now or I am filing complaint and your threats mean nothing to me. 6/23 within 3 hours I have my refund less their $1.99 process fee. I hope they enjoy their $1.99 because that's all they will ever get from me.
During all this I ordered from BestPriceContacts.com on 6/4 with same scanned prescription. My order was $20 less than VD (even with their 20% discount) and I received my (correct) order within 4 days.
I ordered jelly beans with 2 day shipping on a Friday. So I was aware they were suppose to show up on Monday. But, they came Tuesday. Which I didn't mind, the only thing that bothered me is the packaging that seemed to be carelessly thrown together.
They feel like wrong Rx contacts, very blurry and give me migraines. I tried another pair, still can't see well and had to squint my eyes a lot. Went and got some from Target, perfect! Same brand, same Rx. I called and this lady with a BIG attitude answered the phone and offered me 25% refund for store credit on only the unopened boxes? Really? You're customer service or customer hustler? Stupid lady actually argued with me how it's not their fault if manufacture has defect, after explaining to her that if I bought a coffee maker form Walmart and it didn't work, I can return it, and she still replied it's not their fault! Yes it is you dumb-$#*! because you're the retailer and it's your responsibility to make your customers happy and be accountable. After a few minutes I just exploded on her, no bad words, just are you listening to yourself? You take a month to ship and then you tell me I'm stuck with them? You people should be out of business and the way you are doing business, you will be soon because you will only scam me ONCE! And if you can't be nice or even act like you are then don't call yourself customer service representative coz you represent the scammers that hired you, you big attitude and little brained girl!
I love shopping online, its convenient, no long lines and shop while i am relaxing. This website is good, and how they have other sites that are affiliated that opens up more options for customers to shop with. I did my christmas shopping from This website for most of my friends and I was happy with their custom service and their photo department.
I've ordered from drugstore.com three times. The first time, it took forever for my order to arrive so I decided not to order from them again. A year or so later, I was looking for an item I can't find in the store anymore, and they popped up, so I gave them another try. I got that order in a day and half. I was impressed that a week later, I placed another order with them. It's two weeks now and that order has yet to arrive. The savings just aren't worth the wondering if you'll actually receive your items and having to follow-up all the time.
They delay and scam you when you seek refund. I ordered High street spectacles, which they quickly accepted payment, but then they said they don't have the spectacles in stock. I requested refund they didn't reply unitl days later indicating they will discount a second pair. Wait I never received first pair. When I tried to get a refund, they said it was done, but here I am 39 days later and still no credit to my purchase. The worst customer service with real attitude. Still not refunded. No better way than to take it to social media. Good luck vision direct!
You better not have a problem... customer service is lacking. I called with an order issue. I basically was told that I was confused and entered my order wrong. The most important rule I've learning in my 20 years of customer service is 'the customer is always right, even when wrong'. The rep i spoke to was rude, impatient, unwilling to help or even really look into my issue, and certainly not wanting to keep my business. I have a $50 weekly order. Given that he really didn't care about my issue, I asked to speak with his supervisor. He left me on hold for for an extremely long time, then came back laughing off that a manager was not available. I then asked to speak with another representative, at which he answered - quote - "you will just have to call back then." After he hung up on me, I did follow his instruction and called back. I spoke to a new rep who was so great and helpful. She was able to resolve my issue so quickly and to my satisfaction. It's amazing how much better an issue can be with simple kindness. Honestly, if it was not for her I would not be returning for more orders and drugstore.com would have lost a customer (and my friends!). They really need to focus on customer service. From other reviews, I see this is a trend.
I used to purchase my contacts from Walmart.com, but decided that I wanted to save a little more money this time. I went to the visiondirect.com website and ordered a year's supply worth of my usual brand.
When they first arrived, I wanted to try them on immediately. I noticed that the contact lens pod seemed wrinkled and the covering was hard to peel off (they looked like they had been through some heat). When I put the lenses in my eyes, I noticed that my eyes became irritated and red (this has never happened before, and I used the same exact brand, prescription, solution, etc.) and stayed that way the entire time I used them. My eyes would get gunky, red, and the lenses would feel painful to wear. I wore these lenses for a month (since I didn't have any other lenses), and I would wake up with crusted over eyes. This was highly unusual for this brand of lenses, so I thought that maybe it was a one-off, changed my lens case (it was new to begin with), and put in another pair.
The same thing happened with the next pair, so out of frustration, I went to my eye doctor. He told me that my eyes were infected, gave me some medicated eyedrops, and said that it was most likely caused by lenses kept in overly-warm areas, like in a warehouse somewhere, allowing the bacterial to grow. I always keep my lenses in a dark, cool place, and since I put in my lenses as soon as they arrived, I know that it was not due to any error of mine.
I wanted a full-refund from Vision Direct, but they could only offer me a replacement. I did not feel comfortable using ANY more lenses from their company, since I believe that they sell old/defective contact lenses, but that was the only thing that they could offer me (or an option of store credit). I will not use this company again, since I was only saving about $20 on my purchase anyway, but spent $120 going back to the doctor, $20 on gas, not to mention the time I lost from dealing with this whole fiasco. I will repurchase from Walmart.com next time, as I have never had any issues with their lenses.
I love drugstore.com, I love the promos they offer, the low prices, and the cash back deal they offer that can be put towards upcoming orders. I saved over half of what I was spending on my last order. They have unique items that I sometimes can't find other places.
Answer: Absolutely not. Bottom of the line products marked up. Corporate concentrates solely on cutting costs, stock prices and separating as many suckers as possible from their money.
