I wish I had read these reviews before falling for the SCAM that these con-artists are doing. First, the wines are poor quality, and they cost about $25. Per bottle. I decided to cancel my credit card because I do not trust them. I called to cancel my membership, but I am taking an extra step of protection by cancelling my card on file. BUYER BEWARE!
I ordered the introductory 6 bottle package for ~$30 and found the wine to be of very poor quality... I figured it was a chance I took when ordering and planned to cancel the membership, but they beat me to it and charged my card another $133 this week for a phantom shipment that they couldn't even track when I called them (probably because it never shipped). Now they are claiming they will charge me shipping and restocking fee for not reading some fine print on their website. I was never notified of an upcoming shipment, even though I've been bombarded with marketing emails from them ever since I signed up.
This is a horrible business "model" and all they do is bottle CHEAP wine (borderline vinegar), ship it or threaten to ship it to charge unwitting customers a shipping charge + restocking fee. I have already contacted my credit card company, and based on the multitude of angry responses, I really think they deserve to be hit with a class-action suit as well.
STAY AWAY FROM VINESSE!
Hello Issayas, we are sorry to hear you did not enjoy the shipment you received and would like the opportunity to look into your account. Can you please send us a direct message with your phone number to contact you? Thank you.
LOW-LIFE Company. Bought "sample" offering with option to purchase future offers. Next thing I know is that my credit card is debited and "unordered" wine starts arriving. Shame on them but also shame on me for falling into their trap. I called my credit card company to negate the charge and will refuse shipment. They want me to pay for shipping plus a 15% "restocking charge". This company is redefining the word "sleeze".
Hello Jack,
We do have promotional offers for one time shipments, but most are for our wine clubs. We are sorry if you were not aware of this and we would be happy to go over the offer you enrolled with if you wish us to do so. Please feel free to contact us regarding this matter through telephone or a direct message here. Thank you.
How do I quit this club? The website has no obvious way to dis-enroll.
Hello Michael, on our FAQs page on Vinesse you can see that you can cancel your membership by calling our customer support line at (800) 823-5527. Thank you and let us know if you have any other questions.
Vinesse wine club is a total ripoff. Wine sucks and is overpriced. You cannot cancel an order even if it hasn't shipped yet. It is easy to sign up and become a member but hell to terminate membership. Customer service might as well be a robot because they repeat the same stupid answers over and over. Nobody there can think, make decisions or escalate an issue. They thrive on suckers joining the membership and not paying attention to the cost or quality of wine. If companies were smart, they would make it as easy to terminate a membership as it is to join. Why? Because it reduces the risk in joining back up if the member starts to miss the product later on. But, if they are hell to cancel then you can guarantee that people won't come back. Not only that, if you make it hell to cancel then you leave a bad taste in customer's mouths and they will talk badly about your product until they feel vindicated.
Hello Blake,
We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy our wine. We do have a satisfaction guarantee on all of our bottles and would be happy to send you replacements if you would take a moment and send us a direct message. We apologize if you had any trouble cancelling your account, one phone call to us and your account is always cancelled immediately. Our shipping process does take about a week but this is to ensure the shipments are on temperature controlled trucks and no damage comes to the product. At that point we are unable to cancel the shipment in process but there is no obligation to receive the shipment and no obligation to remain a member. Please give us a call so we can have a manager take a look into your experience. Thank you.
We were not notified of our upcoming shipment of wine. I called customer service and she advised me that there would be a 15% restocking fee plus shipping costs. This is not great customer service.
Also, I have been trying to get on my online account for days now - with no luck! The customer service rep sent me a reset password and once I was able to sign in, the system prompted me to create my own password. After I did that, it denied access. I called her back and she said they were having system problems and to try again in an hour.
Hello Dawn,
We were recently experiencing some system issues and we were completely down for an entire day. We are up and running and would like to look into this for you and see if we can get you into your online account. Please either give us a call or send us a direct message and we will be happy to assist you.
Very misleading company. They get you with a very attractive promotion, saying that you have the freedom to delay or cancel an automatic shipment any time. Yeah right! You do not get any notification of an upcoming shipment, and when your credit card get charged, it is "too late" as the shipment is supposedly processed. I actually called 5 days before I get the charge on my credit card, and still they would not cancel it at that time. They told me that I can refuse the shipment, but then I can claim refund minus S&H, minus 15% restocking fees. Like many other fools, I will probably end up accepting the wine this time and cancel my membership. I don't know how they can keep customers for more than two rounds by selling wine at over $20 a bottle that I'd say is worth less than half. I wish I had done some research before giving them my credit card, and I'll tell my friends to stay away from this scam. After reading all these reviews, it seems like a class action may be warranted. There must be some minimum consumer protection against this kind of fishy, if not illegal practice...
Update: the company has provided a small credit, which was a nice gesture.
Hello Remi,
We are sorry to hear about your experience and would like the opportunity to look into this matter for you. Would you please send us a private message with your member number or a phone number to locate your account and discuss this matter further? Thank you.
Joined last month and enjoyed the first batch of wines. Just ordered 36 more "grab bag" bottles at an excellent price. Will see what surprises await.
Thank you Caroline! We are excited to have you as a new customer and are looking forward to continuing with you on this wine adventure!
I'd like to add to the list of consumers saying stay away! I have bought a couple of times. Wine was OK but not great! This last Friday I was checking on an order # for delivery on Friday, It was delivered OK BUT, when I logged into their site, I was "automatically sent" the special of the day, I wasn't on email until late Saturday... I cancelled the order BUT today, Monday 9am told, NOPE TOO late, shipment is gone! Looks like the force feed Buyer specials... Yes there is a 15% re-stocking fee. NO more wine from Vinesse.
Hello, we are sorry to hear about your experience and we would love the opportunity to look into this for you. If you wouldn't mind reaching out to us in a message, we would sincerely appreciate it!
I would advise against buying from this company, especially the AAdvantage deal for the wine of the month.
I ordered it for my mom's birthday for $41.95 for the first month and included 2,000 AAdvantage miles however I was charged full price for the first month. I contacted them through the online chat and Riley was able to help me get the price corrected and also told me about the 2nd shipment receiving 3,000 additional miles. I figured I would get the 2nd shipment as a Mother's Day gift, and then close the account since I am currently working overseas and unable to drink the wine myself.
I closed the account a couple weeks ago and contacted them again about missing AAdvantage miles. Kimmie first told me that I was not signed up for this deal even though their own representative is the one who told me about it. Then she told me it was because I closed my account within 21 days of the shipment and their policy says it must be open for 21 days after the shipment. I looked back at their Terms & Conditions and there is no mention of this. Then I was told to contact the company they do the promotions thru to get my miles. They refuse to acknowledge that they made a mistake. My first shipment only received 1,700 miles (not the 2,000 it was supposed to) and 0 for my second one. They refuse to give me my miles and told me I could ship the wine back but I would have to pay for shipping. I have all the chat transcripts from this and they still will do nothing.
Edit: I spoke with their customer service supervisor and they were able to get all of my missing miles posted. It was a frustrating few days trying to work with the customer service reps, however once I got ahold of the supervisor everything went much smoother.
Hello Cole, it sounds like there is some confusion with the promotions we have and we would like the opportunity to look into this for you. If you have a moment, please send us a message with your phone number or member number. Thank you.
Vinesse is the WORST. Scam. After responding to a $40 intro offer they attempted to charge my credit card $115. When I reached out the same day to cancel per their confirmation before anything shipped they refused, insisting on shipping anyways; attempting to process the full charge.
Claimed they couldn't cancel because shipping began processing on 5/9/16... despite the fact I didn't even order until four (4) days after.
Upon follow up they attempted to charge me for processing and shipping despite the fact I cancelled before they shipped. Required disputing the charge because Vinesse refused to process my cancellation.
RESPONSE FROM VINESSE REP "Bryn J.": A complete refund will suffice. 80 complaints on BBB, 100s on other social media sites (google "vinesse wine complaints") all complaining about the same issue. Vinesse needs to recognize that there are problems with their business "model."
Hello Mar, It sounds like there may have been some confusion on your account and we would love the opportunity to clear things up. Our shipping process does take a little time because we send all of our shipments on temperature controlled trucks so you can receive your product in the best condition! We are sorry if this was an inconvenience to you and would be happy to discuss the matter further with you. Feel free to contact us!
After disappointing first batch of wine, I cancelled my membership. Two weeks later, my credit card was charged for another shipment. I tried to stop the shipment, but they don't respond on weekends (charge was applied Friday night). By Monday morning, they couldn't stop shipment, and they want a $40 restocking fee if I refuse or return the wine!
Thanks to Bryn J. With his intervention, the entire cost of the shipment was refunded (no restock fee!) after the wine shipment was refused. Therefore, my rating of the company rises to 3 -- too much frustration to give it 4, and the wine itself was unworthy.
Hello Bob, We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your first shipment with us. We never continue to charge members after they cancelled, so we would be more than happy to look further into this matter. Give us a call so we can see what can be done. Thank you!
Vinesse is a company that ropes you into their program using tantalizing offers and then delivers far less than expected. It starts with a "HOT" offer on what proves to be some very inferior wines in some nice bottles. At the low introductory price of around $5.00 a bottle, you can live with a little disappointment in the wines themselves but then a few months later an unrequested 6-bottle "case" shows up at your door with a $140 price tag attached (over $23 a bottle). If you don't want it, Vinesse is happy to take it back... provided that YOU pay the $15 to $20 return shipping charge and then they charge you a 15% restocking fee that is part of their "return policy" that is deeply buried somewhere on their website but completely unmentioned in the pretty promotional pieces that they use to lure you in to obtain that all important first order and your credit card number.
This bottled SCAM is reminiscent of the old record clubs of the 70s and 80s; "Too good to be true" initial offers that generate trial and then ongoing ripoffs afterwards that deliver poor products and poor values to unwitting consumers.
Better to stay away than get vined into this one! Put a cork in it VINESSE!

I am sorry to hear about your experience with our company Brian. Our policy can be viewed for any to see on Vinesse.com under shipping and support. This is where most companies keep their return policies and we are very sorry if there was a misunderstanding. All of our offers do include our website and phone number so that you may review the terms and conditions for the offer you enroll into. We see that our shipping charges were not applied to your refund and we appreciate your patience in this matter.
Please don't fall for this Company. Worse company ever. You make a one time purchase and it becomes a membership! They start charging you monthly without your consent and if you want to send package back they will charge you 15% to restock and you have to pay the shipping! THIS IS A FRAUD! PLEASE STAY AWAY! I WONDER IF SOMETHING CAN BE DONE AGAINST THE COMPANY!
We are sorry that you feel this way about our company. We have many different offers that are for our wine clubs and each one explains the shipments you will be receiving. If you want to make one time orders, our website is the best place to do it and our customer support team is available to chat about any questions you may have when making your purchase.
Was a member for over a year. Wine were ok. Not the best, but it was convenient. Vinesse then randomly switched delivery from UPS (comes at same time when we are home) to Fedex (shows up randomly is 5 hours window). Our Fedex deliveries were returned and we were charged restocking and delivery. I asked if they could redeliver as was told UPS delivery was not available in my area? I felt the least they could have done since the change was made with no communication was to wave the fees, but nope... we cancelled membership.
We are sorry that the change in our shipping companies affected our relationship with you. Our customer support team would be happy to rectify the situation.
Very poor service. Automatically sends wine and if wine is not accepted they charge you for shipping and handling and restocking fees. Stay away from any deals offered. Very poor company to deal with
We do offer replacement shipments for returned shipments at no additional charge, as we know sometimes deliveries take place when customers are not available to sign. Our terms can be found on each offer you enroll through explaining the automatic shipments and we are happy to chat about it with you!
Wines were of mediocre quality, comparable to what you might get for $7 or so at the store. Also, they made me call in to cancel my membership... didn't accept my e-mail request. Not a huge deal, but it's lame, like the wine. Wouldn't recommend.
This scam is beyond illegal. I hope they rot in *, you can't cancel this and they * your account for $120 a month.

I received an offer from UA two months ago saying that I can get 2500 miles for $49. So I signed up for the membership. After a while, my boyfriend who lived in the same apartment with me also signed up for the membership. We just noticed today that they sent my boyfriend the second shipment with the charge of $123. The weird thing is that his account has no miles. We contacted the customer service. The staff said that they have a terms"Enrollment miles and discounted introductory wine offer limited to one per household." I return to the promotion website and couldn't find it in anywhere. Then I found "terms and conditions" with a link. After I click the link, I found this sentence. This is fraudulent advertisement! They didn't even put it on the promotional page. Everyone please be aware of this. And the wine is not good, especially for the second shipment. $123 for 6 bottles of wines. You can get a better deal at other wine club. We both canceled our membership and will never buy wines from this club!
I am a member of two other clubs and joined this one as they had a great intro offer. Wines were mediocre and I was going to cancel. Got a text from FEDEX to expect a delivery and adult signature required. I saw it was from Vinesse and called to tell them I didn't request or authorize any shipment and they agreed to cancel but I have to pay a restocking fee. The other clubs (like WSJ Wines) always send me a notice when it is about to ship so that I can change selections, postpone delivery or cancel that shipment. Not this company caveat emptor
Hello Patrick, I can assure you that if your membership is cancelled, no charges will be placed on your account without your authorization. We apologize that the shipments did not meet your standards, and we do have a satisfaction guarantee for anytime this happens. Please take a moment to review it on our website or give us a call and let us see what we can do for you.
