Hello Jenna, you must be referring to our Holiday shipment. This isn’t a scam but a way to ensure our wine club members have the opportunity to receive some of our favorite wine selections for the holiday season before they run out. You are certainly able to opt out of this shipment, and if you haven’t already, please be sure to contact customer service at 800-823-5527 or you can go through your member web account. Thank you for the feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve our member's experience.

Does not make financial sense
September 15, 2016

Mediocre wine at best. High processing and shipping fee. I was part of a 6 bottle per month wine club for $124. Cost on the high end was $15.99 per bottle - totaling $96. Processing and shipping equated to $28. I called to determine the value prop and I was told that there was a replacement guarantee. I don't drink wine for volume but the math didn't make sense. I can pick up 2 additional bottles (8 in total) at the same cost locally and make out without the need for the guarantee. This wine club offers no benefit to anyone but Vinesse.

Dear Mr. James R.,
We appreciate you taking the time to send in your review and value your feedback. We do have various wine clubs that offer different price points that may best suit your preference. For example, our Grab Bag club does include free shipping. I understand you can shop locally for wines and possibly get more bottles for the same value. We at Vinesse like to think we offer more value because we offer boutique wines that are not found at most retailers, and we also include tasting notes and wine pairings, designated by our staff of wine tasters. Regarding our satisfaction guarantee, we stand behind every wine we sell and take into consideration that taste in wine is uniquely personal and can vary with all our members. The wines we feature to our members exceed our high standards of quality and value. If you, and any of our members, are dissatisfied with a wine, we encourage to contact our customer support within 45 days of the purchase. Any wine that you are not satisfied with the quality, we would be happy to replace it and add it to your next club shipment to avoid additional shipping fees.

I felt compelled to write a review considering how negative the reviews are by most customers and how prompt and helpful the company was when dealing with similar issues. No, they didn't provide me with advanced notice prior to processing my payment. However, you can set up email notifications to let you know a week in advance on their website. Second, I got on chat and was able to promptly cancel my order (same day that the transaction was processed). Not only that, but when I needed to get the pending hold reversed from my account, my financial institution needed me to have Vinesse call them to do so. I felt that may be an issue and doubted whether they would but I called and spoke to a representative who promptly agreed to fax over an notice that the order was canceled and the payment was being reversed. It took maybe 10 minutes. As such, I would have to say that the two people I've spoke with were more than helpful.

Terrible Company to Deal With
August 25, 2016

This is the most disreputable company to deal with. They provide no advance notice of an upcoming shipment or its contents. The first indication is when you get a UPS tracking number. Then when you ask to cancel the shipment you are told that is not doable and that you should refuse to accept delivery. When you do this you are charged 1/3 of the total price a a "shipping and restocking" fee. I have belonged to several wine clubs for years and have never encountered this type of sleazy business practice. To top it off the wine is incredibly ordinary and not what they claim it to be.

AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS

THIS COMPANY RIPS YOU OFF
August 24, 2016

I responded to an e-mail to get 6,500 miles on United if I bought wine from Vinesse American Cellars... The offering was 6 bottles for $48.95... the first shipment you would get 2,500 miles. I received the wine which was OK, drinkable, nothing special, but they did post the 2,500 miles quickly... then on the second shipment you would get 4,000 miles. I called to inquire as to the price and the 6 bottle shipment would cost $129.95... SO I asked if I could take advantage of a deal they had called grab bag for $89.95, shipping included. After asking if I am in a frequent flyer program, they said NO. The cheapest shipment to qualify for the additional 4,000 miles is 2 bottles for $52.95 plus 8% fee for what I don't know. This is $28.59 per bottle for wine which I can buy locally for around $8. Per bottle.
I need the 4000 miles for a ticket, so I ordered, but will cancel this club after receipt.

Major Scam
August 22, 2016

Ordered an initial wine shipment from Vinesse. Several week later, I was notified by UPS that another shipment was on it's way. (I never authorized nor requested additional auto shipments). When UPS attempted delivery, I refused it and waited for a credit to my credit card account. After 12 days I had seen no credit, so I called Vinesse customer service. I was told that they would send my an email which I had to cimplete and return to receive credit,
When no email was received after an hour and 40 minutes, I called again. This time I was told that they would send the email again. After waiting 20 minutes for the second email, I called my credit card company and reported the issue.
Beware of this company!

Have gotten a reply. Now they are willing to a portion of my money back. $83.72 of $123.49. They want to charge me for shipping and restocking, on an auto ship I never knew about or had the chance to cancel.

They offer a sample of wines to try - which were all very poor quality. When you cancel - they say they have no record of cancellation and continue to send you more wine. Very deceitful as you place the initial order with American Cellars and later shipments come from GSE*Vinesse Wine Inc. While they tell you they will replace bottles you are unsatisfied with - they don't mention they will charge a very high shipping fee and a restocking fee. For unopened packages they will make you responsible for shipping costs and charge an additional 15% restocking fee. My advise - STAY AWAY from this unprofessional company!

High cost for wines you don't want
August 4, 2016

I signed up for their American Cellars Club. They sent me a survey asking what wines I liked and did not like. The sampler they sent had 3 wines on my "do not like" list. When I expressed dis-satisfaction, they said they would replace them at a cost of $22 for shipping. These are wines that are easily purchased at Total Wine for under $7.

Subsequent shipments are very costly and your choices are really limited.

When I wanted to cancel, they refused to honor the miles to be credited to my American Airlines account.

Buy your wines at at good discount store, like Total Wine. Stay away from Vinesse's clubs.

Don't do it... just don't.
July 22, 2016

Signed up through a United Mileage program. Got the 2 shipments as what was advertised in the special. Cancelled not long after my second shipment. Didn't receive my points. Called to see why and they have a fine print that your account must be active for 21 days after every shipment. This was not put anywhere on the email from United, or the Vinesse page where you sign up. The customer service representative even took forever to try and find where this is advertised on the website.

Customer service people are very nice, but it's not worth any of the hassle.

The wines are not good either. Complete rip off.

Scam, Shady, Crooks, Thieves
July 19, 2016

I placed on order through Groupon which I was very happy about. However, a few week after, I was charged $133.77 as pending on my CC for what I called them right away why the charge. They said I had joined their club and I was going to receive a shipment every month. NO I DIDN'T JOINED YOUR CLUB! They did this without notifying me of any shipment or charge. (That's stealing) I had to get my credit card involve and finally was able to get all my money back since they had only refunded me $92 because I refused the wine when it arrived. By far the worse Online shopping experience!

Hello Jose, it sounds like there may be a misunderstanding, as we do offer wine clubs but the Groupon offer we have is not for a wine club membership. We would love the opportunity to look into this for you and help you any way we can. Can you please send us a message to reach out to you by phone? Thank you.

As an update to our previous review on Vinesse, this incredibly fraudulent company, we still have not received the promised credit to our account for the unauthorized charge of 123.49 (issued AFTER we cancelled our membership!).

And now, 2 days after we were promised the credit, WE RECEIVED ANOTHER CHARGE of 123.49 to our credit card for yet a 2nd unauthorized shipment.

We called today and were told they have no record of the 2nd unauthorized credit - and that we would have to provide them with a copy of our credit card statement to prove it. Are you kidding me?!?

We are filing a complain with the Better Business Bureau and have reported this organization as fraudulent to our banking institution.

Stay FAR AWAY from this company!

Side note: when we called today, they asked for our membership number. I told them we didn't have a membership anymore; it was cancelled by us over a month ago. Yet, they still show us as having a membership numbers... hmmmm...

Hello, I am sorry if there was any misunderstanding. We do not continue to charge members after they have cancelled their accounts. It sounds like the shipment you were charged for began processing before your cancellation, and since it does take a few days for charges to process, this could be why you did not see the charge until after you cancelled your account. We are sincerely sorry if there was a system glitch and we will appreciate the opportunity to look into your account and see what happened. Please send us a message with your phone number. Thank you.

Kind of a scam
July 13, 2016

Was sent a special offer for $40 for6 bottles of wine so I ordered. Never received this order either as they use ups and require signature and id but dont provide a delivery time frame. So if you work good luck getting it, cant very well ask a neighbor to wait all day long for it. Then i didn't select 6 bottles 12x per year but that is what they are claiming and what they charged me $125 for without so much as an email. How did i find out? An overdraft notice was emailed to me 2 days before pay day

We apologize for any inconvenience Stevie, but since the shipments contain alcohol, an adult 21 years or older must be present to accept the delivery. If a shipment was missed we can send you a new one at no additional charge and we can change your delivery address to one that may work better for you. If you have a moment to contact us, please give us a call so we can see what we can do for you.

Wine Drinkers Beware!
June 30, 2016

I tried the promo then cancelled by phone right away. Of course another 6 bottle shipment shows up for $133.77! Customer service informed me my membership wasn't cancelled just 'delayed' for future shipments until June. Not true! I wasn't that impressed with the wine and had no intention of continuing and plainly told them that. This time I emailed my cancellation and got a confirmation number. Don't recommend cancelling it by phone if you don't want more expense and frustration. They also stick you with return shipping and 15% restocking fee. Please avoid these crooks and go to Specs!

Convenience for some marginal wines. After my wife called and said we would not want to stay signed up after a promotional offer, we received an updated offer in the mail with an incorrect first name which we felt was offensive. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but it was a turn off to doing business with this company.
