Rebate scam & overbilled
September 7, 2019

We were informed by sales person that we qualified for a $350 rebate for BYOD, as well as $200 for purchasing a smartphone on another line. We kept the numbers we had with carrier we switched from but I just informed from rebate center representative that the $350 rebate never existed so it was only $200 but we weren't eligible for that rebate for unknown reason. The requirements for the smartphone purchase had changed to a minimum purchase amount that we didn't meet. Rebate rep said to contact sales person to try and settle the issue.
Along with that frustration the first bill was approx $50 over what was anticipated and 2nd bill was also more than expected. Our bill had charges for services we didn't sign up for so a customer services rep removed those charges and said they are automatically set up upon activation. Had we known all this was going to happen it would have been far better to have purchased a phone and stayed with carrier we left since service is more $50 a month.

I have been trying to cancel the line, for a Pad, for two years. I get promised it has been canceled only to find it has remained on my bill. I have tried canceling online, in person, over the phone etc., each and every time it has not worked as promised. From other reviews I see this is not an isolated case and it is analogous to stuffing bills with surcharges. The only reason we have stayed with Verizon is my wife's belief they have better coverage when we travel.

Lousy service overpriced
September 4, 2019

They refuse to fix anything. They make excuses. They bill you for not fixing things. Then they overcharge you when you disconnect. The computer that answers drives you insane. If you are lucky, you get a customer service rep that actually speaks English after you've been on hold for 40 minutes. They can't help you, so they transfer you. After another long hold that person transfers you back to the other department. You literally get beat into submission. No Verizon will ever get my business again! Fios or wireless. You are an idiot if you do business with them...

Switched to Verizon was told I had to purchase a new phone and that I would receive a $200 rebate. The rebate got rejected because the phone they told me would receive the rebate was not eligible.

Been on hold for 30 minutes waiting to speak with person... Terrible customer service. Actually their system has really problem. IF someone is looking forward to switch company, make sure your account payment is clear or checking for everything is fine before switching otherwise you have to reach customer service and will experience the most of difficult time. And important thing is your login account will be disappear, and whenever you call them and if you don't have acct# with you during talking with representation, they could not find out your account by phone # or name or even they don't have any information system and keep making you waiting waiting and over phone to another representation, but not found it again waiting and WAITING again!... GIVE UP

To write a review of Verizon's customer service and its "policies" would require me to take a day or two off of work. I am guessing that I've logged about 8-10 hours with them on the phone over the course of 2 months and I still can't get a very simple thing resolved, which is me being able to access my online account. All of these providers fail miserably at customer service but Verizon takes the cake. Use someone else if at all possible and if not, well, good luck.

I had been a customer for 20 years. I was told I could toggle back and forth between Unlimited and 5 gigs, yet when I called to get my plan back to 5 gigs, it somehow didn't take for three months. I continued to get billed for $125 or more despite not needing this service and despite calling every time the bill came wrong. The company will not back date the bills, so I've paid hundreds of dollars for service I did not need. Good bye, Verizon. I'm moving to Google Fi

I was told when I signed up with Verizon I would get 3 gift cards totally $600 for porting over my 3 numbers from Comcast. I was also told I would receive $150 as a sign on bonus. I was supposed to receive this within 4 to 6 weeks. After 6 weeks I called they said you need to submit the rebate. Which I did. I still had not received anything within 3 weeks. I called back I got a good customer service person at that time. She credited my account for the $150 sign on bonus. She also had 1 of the rebate cards sent to me. Rebate center did not send the other 2. I contacted the rebate center. They told me I was given false information by sales person I qualified for only $150 for each rebate not the $200 I was told by the sales person. Of course I did not accept and contacted Verizon due to the deception. I sat on the phone for 4 hrs. I was hung up on and got disconnected several times being transferred. I finally spoke with someone that said she would override the the situation and I would receive the rebate I was initially was told. 2 weeks no rebate I called back spoke to a supervisor that wanted to only credit my account for $150 on the 2 rebates. I was totally mad at that point. I told her that was the worst deal I had gotten from the deception I was told in the first place. I ask to be transferred to the rebate center. She remained on the line and totally attempted to sabotage to make the situation to what she wanted to do to start with. She was very unprofessional and interrupted. I guess thats why she has her position. I received nothing and I will never recommend verizon to anyone. No only do they have unprofessional supervisors. They also have deceptive sales people. I believe these sales people are hired at minimum wage with very little training. I forgot to mention the phone conversation was not recorded until the supervisor put the rebate center on the line which she made herself look like she was right and I was totally wrong.

Verizon has absolutely deplorable customer service. I was told on one day that I would have to pay X amount the following day to avoid losing service. I woke up: no service. I called and they then stated that I'd have to pay X plus an additional 61 dollars and change. And a 7 dollar fee to process that payment over the phone. This is on top of the 7 dollar fee to make the arrangement the preceding day. It also took them over 25 minutes to simply take a payment by debit card over the phone. Absolutely, staggeringly bad customer service. Not only was I told incorrect information which cost me more money, the representative and her supervisor attempting to make me pay 61 extra dollars were very unfriendly and unhelpful, attempting to play semantic games instead of actually assist me. It wasn't VERIZON that told me that my services were secure, it was a REPRESENTATIVE of verizon. Sure. Avoid this company. Buy a prepaid phone.

I want to share my experience regarding non-Verizon purchased phones. Despite what you may see when you check out your IMEI on the BYOD page, you may not be able to use your Verizon account (SIM) in Canada or Mexico even if it is an international-compatible phone. To my surprise, even though I had a Verizon unlimited data plan which extended to Canada and Mexico use, the Verizon system did not grant free usage on those international locations. I was in Canada, my phone worked perfectly and I sent/received texts and data. Unfortunately, I was charged an incredibly steep price for data (works out to $2,000 per GB). My data service was cut off when I hit $500.

You've been warned -- Verizon's site is on BYOD compatibility is not to be trusted.

Even though they have great cell-phone reception, that is the only good thing. If you ever have a customer service related question you will never get help.

I've been hung up on before by customer service representatives. I have had problems making calls, getting access to receipts, and the employees have never been able to fix a single problem even after spending hours on the phone. I was assigned a special employee to help me directly, who never answered any e-mails or returned calls. It is unfortunate that this is one of the best networks out there, because the employees are a disgrace.

Shallow wires
July 25, 2019

I called to verify how deep the lines are suppose to be dug into the ground and have received several answers. The 1st call to Verizon stated 1.5ft to 2ft deep. I then received after I had issues with gardening very shallow 5inches, that its only a few inches deep. Every where I look about line depth should be feet deep not inches. 5-6 inches for residential isn't deep enough for gardening etc. Please have the Maryland employees put the wires the proper depth. Bill from Syracuse NY Escalation team department stated 3-6inches is Verizon regulation. Now I have 3 different answers.

ATTEMPTING TO GET A LIVE PERSON AT VERIZON IS THE MOST DESPICABLE, BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME EVER! VERIZON WILL TRANSFER YOU AROUND FOR HOURS TO WORTHLESS PROMPTS AND THEN HANG UP ON YOU! THIS FIRM IS THE MOST PATHETIC, LOWEST QUALIT7Y COMMUNICATIONS FIRM ANYWHERE. THEY CONSTANTLY OVERCHARGE, DO NOT ERASE WRONG BILLINGS, AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE CUSTOMER, EXCEPT TO GET YOUR MONEY! IF VERIZON WANTS TO DO UNCLE SAM AND AMERICANS A BIG FAVOR, THEY SHOULD TAKE THEIR BAD SERVICE TO CHINA OR IRAN. THEIR PHONE SERVICE WILL DEFINITELY SENT THOSE COUNTRIES INTO THE ABYSS.

My Dad was on my Verizon plan and after he passed away I cancelled his line, paid off both iPhones, and switched my number to prepaid on Verizon. When I did that Verizon never bothered telling me that they were going to delete all of my voice messages so I lost all the voice mail messages I had from my Dad due to their incompetence. I asked them to restore them right after I realized what they did, which was only one day later but they don't even back up anything. I had to waste hours on the phone with them and got nowhere. All I got is "We're so sorry". Then just today I got an email stating that I owed them $230 with no explanation of what it was for. I just wasted another 90 minutes on the phone with them trying to get that resolved. They tried to charge me an early cancellation fee even though I was not under any type of contract and had paid the phones off. I think this is the last straw with Verizon. Furthermore, even time I call them it is a very convoluted process and I usually end up on hold for most of the calls, which end up being very lengthy. Time to look at alternatives like T-Mobile.

Awful
July 4, 2019

I have one word to describe my experience with Verizon. It. Was. AWFUL. I paid for the unlimited data. According to what the employee working at Verizon, unlimited data meant that you got data anywhere and you can use it as long as you like. (That is what I was specifically told by the employee at the Verizon store.) So being happy about this, I thought I was going to have great service. I was wrong. I can't even send iMessages without wifi, and I cant even access apps that require wifi even with 3 bars. This is ridiculous! Maybe Verizon never promised good service in the first place, but that was promised by the employee working there. Either hire employee that are more honest, or give better service. I'm fed up. I do not recommend using Verizon. Thank you

I am Verizon customer for 5 years and I just found out on the Internet that they have Prepaid Plan for 2 lines, 6GB, unlimited talk and text, all for $60/month! For 5 years Verizon is overcharging me! No email about that plan, no any info when purchasing a phone! Nothing! I called 611 and asked for Prepaid Plan for 2 lines for 60/month and man said: "O, yes, we have that plan". Overcharging customers, ha Verizon? Shame on you!
