Awful response time for customer service and the 1-800 number is a joke. Marked case "urgent" still waiting 10 days for a response and I gave them all required information.
My wife had fraud action on her Venmo. I called to alert. They said they could not verify me, she needed to call herself.
I was on hold for this 10 min and got disconnected.
I called back and asked for supervisor. After 12 min wait got someone. They relayed that I can connect in my wife. What a surprise! I could not get my wife online.
It seems like they would more concerned that someone is trying to cheat them and us them procedure of how to call in.
Now fraud is being committed and nothing is being done about it.
Not impressed. Makes me want to cancel my PayPal and Venmo accounts
Btw when I PayPal first they told me I needed to call Venmo separately? As if they are not connected? What a $#*! show
As a PYPl shareholder I think I will sell
Shulmann should call in for service to experience the joke going on

I recently leased my condo in Walnut Creek CA and opened a Venmo account for regular/monthly deposit of rent. My tenant did deposit the rent on schedule but Venmo promptly froze my account and has been holding MY FUNDS hostage. I have spent much time on the phone and via email to have them release my funds but all I get from lots of platitude. It seems to me that holding onto other people's money as long as they can is profitable for them. I plan to avoid them in the future.
Venmo arbitrarily put a one month hold on my money and won't assit in linking my bank account for deposit. Venmo has NO customer service. Over 20 attempts to get help or an explanation. Phone calls are a total waste of time. They tell you to read articles that are not helpful. Chat is a joke. BBB notified. Do not use Venmo if you need your money quickly.
Venmo froze my account on July 6th due to a security issue (not a payment issue), without any explanation. I immediately called and supplied a photo ID as identity proof. I have tried multiple times (via email, chat or phone) to reach someone of authority that could assist me. They don't offer direct contact to this department. I have waited over 23 days without any contact from Venmo. I cannot find a way to contact this department and am at their mercy at this time with no solution in site. This is a customer service nightmare and just want this to be resolved.
This company froze my small business account for verification, once account was verified. Venmo decided to to freeze and keep my money. Every time I tried contacting Venmo to see reason for this decision. I never got reason or explanation. Company then stated just wait 180 days w/o reason. This was truly my first experience with being robbed..
Opened new account couple days ago. Tried logging in from different laptop, could not. Tried resetting pw. Requested code via text (two-factor authentication), received msg 'couldn't send code'. Added bank account when I opened account. Service rep on phone told me I had no bank acct on file. I had enough. Piece of $#*! fn programming!
I just opened venmo so a friend could send me $25 for cab fare to the er, needless to say they froze my account so I had to take a $1200 ambulance ride. I was in the hospital for 5 days. I still can't access the $25 and Noone will tell me why! Needless to say, I will never use this horrible app again!
I set up an account with Venmo for a convenient way to make payments between my siblings. It seemed like a good idea and the first time it was used, it worked like a charm. The second time was not so charmed. I actually made the mistake. I sent a payment not realizing that there were insufficient funds (I failed to transfer the funds into an account set up specifically for companies like Venmo) in the fun money account. Venmo kindly paid the said amount and promptly sent a notice to me letting me know that they had made the payment on my behalf and all I needed to do was to transfer the funds to Venmo. I immediately realized what happened and signed on to correct MY mistake. "The Problem"... the account was frozen so no money could be transferred into the account. How odd that Venmo would freeze an account so that a correction could not be made. It's actually quite backward in someone's logic, even if they do have a PhD. To sum up, the youths who are the customer care team were very polite but hamstringed in their ability to problem solve in this case. While the payment cleared my bank immediately and Venmo has received notification that the funds are on the way, the account is still frozen. My only goal was to DEPOSIT the payment that was due to Venmo and fix my mistake. This needs to be an easier process that does not require three phone conversations and now a poor review. I am writing this so that the young powers that be can fix this glitch.
Timeline:
5/23 Payment was made
5/31 Email sent from Venmo letting me know that I had insufficient funds but they honored the payment
5/31 I logged on immediately to correct my mistake only to find out that the account was frozen
5/31 Spoke with Juanita to clear up the error and had the bank send the funds
6/02 The funds at the bank cleared and transferred them to the Venmo account (slow due to Memorial Day holiday
6/03 Account still frozen. "Maybe by next Tuesday this will be cleared up"
The issue is freezing an account the same day that a customer is notified due to insufficient funds and corrections cannot be made. Odd. Most institutions would have frozen payments out and allowed incoming payments to be made.
The whole narrative I want to write would be exhausting and possibly confusing to those who have had happy trails with Venmo. Yet I was flagged for no apparent reason. I reached out to Venmo several times and several times told the same script over and over. I simply wanted to know why I was flagged and not able to use the app. I was told it was for security reasons but not on my part. Well who's part was it then? They can not give you that information. Lengthy arguments, talking over my voice, and people I could barely understand refused to give me any information as to my "flagging for security reasons". I finished up my search by asking my banks fraud manager to intervene and see if they could get an answer. Over two hours had passed until finally my bank told me it was cleared up and "good to go!" I sent a test amount of $10 to a friend that went through in a matter of minutes but the next amount was a no-go. WTF! It was not a large amount, less than $100 but it kept refusing my card/cards. I called Venmo again, was told to try a different card. That nearly sent me into a seizure, I replied I already had 3 cards on file, they said try another to which I replied again "how many cards do you think it will take?" I have 4 credit cards, 2 debit cards, an average account with excellent credit at 800. After re-entering all my information several times and before ending the conversation it got quite ugly. Sending me condescending remarks, patronizing cliche's I just replied with a photo of my thoughts. (My middle finger.) Now about a month later, I learn they are targeting people. I asked how, who and why. Well, those answers are easy enough, same old bias, prejudice reasons that have been around for ever. I would not recommend this app and obviously I have moved on to other sources, happy I did and have had no problems what-so-ever. Oh, and by the way, if the fees have not gone up yet, they will.
Customer service is horrible, and they can't provide the services they offer. Venmo is the definition of a scam.
Venmo supports criminals and allows them to conduct business through their app! The first time I used Venmo to pay for a product I bought from someone, they never came through with the product as promised. I contacted Venmo to report this person and they said they couldn't help me. They continue to allow the criminal to do business through their app! This is just crazy! They never froze his account or did anything! Poor business ethics!
I am a business owner of 17 years. I recently started to use Venmo for a way of customers to pay me. Since opening the account, I have lost money (over $200) that I was not aware at the time I needed to transfer into my account and I have on many occasions received payments intended for another business to my business. In these instances, there is no easy way to transfer the money back to the owner. The most recent time this happened (this week), I had to transfer the money back to the owner minus the fees that Venmo now takes out. To me, this looks like I am keeping the fees. I highly recommend not using Venmo and finding other sources to use for payments. You too may be losing money or accepting money that does not belong to you.
I recently did a small repair for a acquaintance and for compensation was transferred 245 dollars to my new venmo app.so yesterday I decided to go online and find all the ways to spend it, they claim there are millions of sites and merchants that accept venmo. So I proceeded to go to Walmart which is listed as venmo vender. Being a little weary I stopped at the customer service desk where there were three associates and I asked if they took venmo as a payment option, first they said "what " then I repeated my query and they looked at me like I was an alien and after a few seconds chuckled and said no. So I went back online and proceeded to go to target, chipotle and so on with about the same results. After giving up visiting the actual location I decided maybe I misunderstood and needed to order that way after five hours of signing up for the sites i was unable to find a single site. Ok I'ml try a different approach inl purchase bitcoin from the venmo site and use it that way. So I purchased 245. Us dollars in bitcoin. And it posted to my dashboard on venmo, but it can't sell, transfer or trade it, you can only look at it. So I sold it back to hem at a loss. Next I contacted customer support and explained my issue and received a reply fairly quick. Here is what I was told. Venmo is a social funding app that allows you to easily pay someone you owe money to that also had a venmo app, this can be done at a expedient way. I still haven't found a single vender that accepts it.the best comparison I can give is this.its like that xmas present that no one wants so you give It to someone else so they can deal with it and hope you done get it back.
Venmon is total scammer has a lot of people there are scammer $#*! venmo that is the worst app to paid is not trustful app I wi not recommend they should closed forever
Funds went to different person. I did actually what venmo suggusted and that person will not respond. I contacted venmo they Sent me around to 4 or 5 different people and been in contact with Mark F. They told me try better next time. So going off that they don't know how to fix it and if thats how this app operates then I don't
Want to do business where your not gauranteed the money will not go to the right person. This was my 1st and last time, just horrible experience. Don't choose VENMO use something else. Not worth it. 1 star is to high.
HORRIBLE APP! I sent 100.00 to my daughter for her bday and the account I sent to had my daughter's PICTURE and name... she never received the money! Called venmo and was on the phone for 2 hours! No resolution and they told me to ask for the money back from the person I sent it too... are you FLIPPEN KIDDING ME. Had my daughter on the phone with them twice to verify that it was not her account that someone had to of created one and they still would not reimburse me my 100.00 I sent to someone that has opened an account with my daughters picture etc! Sham of a company and will be deleting there app, they are bs thiefs!
My Venmo account was hacked on 7/17/21. Venmo handlers it quickly and prefiessionally, finalizing the disputed charges and returning my money by 7/29/2021.
It is now 7/28/21 and they still have my account frozen. I have sent dozens of emails and called countless times with zero helpful response. Venmo support is accessible only through email. I have turned in my ID verifications and changed all my log in like they originally requested. I still have no access to my money and no one to speak to! I have filed a report with the
I opened a Venmo account, intending to pay someone who wanted to receive payment via Venmo. I'm not a whiz but am reasonably computer literate. I got as far as giving them all my personal info and linking my credit card. I also found the person I wanted to pay. But trying to actually link up with them or make a payment didn't seem to be possible. There were no explanatory notes, drop-down menus or links of any kind regarding how to do this. The "Help" button was no help. I logged out and logged back in, but always got stuck at the same page, which requested that I link up with friends. After spending an hour trying to get someone paid, I gave up. Not impressed. I will be cancelling my Venmo account tomorrow.
I'm a long-time Republic Wireless customer. As such, by definition, my phone number is a mobile number. But not according to Venmo. After I sold an item to someone who wanted to pay by Venmo, I tried to open a Venmo account. But they rejected my application, saying my number was a "landline" number. I tried, repeatedly, to see what evidence I could offer so I could open an account, but they just kept falling back on the landline bit. I can only conclude that they'll let you open an account with SOME carriers' mobile numbers, but not mine.
Answer: My experience they are a scam. They take your money and lock you out of your account
Answer: Get them easy, they just don't do anything once you do.
Answer: I was told they don't have phones so you can only email them and it will take weeks for them to return your message
