I booked a flight and received an email notification a week later that the flight was changed for the next day's flight. No apologies and no follow up from Vayama. I had to call to say that I do not accept the flight change and to change my booking back to the date originally booked. I was told that I will receive a response within 24hrs.
We are now 7 days later and the several occasions I call back I stay on hold for more than 15 minutes with no response on the other hand. It looks like Vayama is a Scam!
Called them, waited 40 minutes in line, some guy picks up, after 2 sentences, just hung up. This company is a joke.
I booked a ticket to Paris for the summer and had difficulties with Vayama (both rudimentary service issues and customer service promptness) immediately. Vayama took over a week to charge my credit card for the ticket (and didn't respond to my repeated email inquiries about the reason for the delay). Even worse, one month later, they summarily changed my ticket so that I arrived in Toronto two hours after my connecting flight to Paris left. When I complained that they needed to fix this immediately, I received the infuriating PR pabulum that they're not always able to find "good options" as a result of the "rules of the airline." Apparently, the "rules of the airline" make time travel possible as well. I found a ticket (on the same airline on the same day) with less than 30 seconds of work, so this error rises to a level of rank incompetence. Frankly, I think it's tantamount to fraud: if I'd just ignored or not paid attention to the details of the schedule change announcement, Vayama would have stranded me in Toronto (and this is work trip, not some vacation jaunt). The fact that I'm still waiting for a revised e-ticket only further cements their utter lack of not just professionalism, but competence. I really cannot dissuade readers enough: this is a level of fraud and malfeasance that extends beyond the usual cruelty of travel companies and airlines.
I booked my flight from USA to India through Vayama and they printed wrong luggage allowance on my ticket. I had to pay $120 for 4kgs. On complaining, they said would give a refund but its been four months they have stopped replying to my mails. Worst service, do not book through Vayama ever.
When booking through Vayama I chose to pay extra to be able to change or cancel my fight. I ended up canceling my flight and my fee to cancel was $355.00. I canceled 2 weeks prior to booked flight. What a complete rip off, I will never use this company again.
They sell me tickets with. No existing flights in itinerary. I discovered that at airport while trying to check in. Too late. To get to my destination I had to buy new ticket, my Vayama ticket which included return trip was cancelled. Vayama not reachable, they simple no answer emails and phone calls. My lost: over $1500
Vayama's customer service is absolutely terrible. I booked a flight to the Philippines in 10/18 with travel dates in 14/19. Our flight was cancelled because the airline quit their route on this date. I called customer service and they said to call the airline. I asked Vayama what I was paying for when I booked through them, and I after a few minutes I figured out that they sell tickets and that's it. A few months later, the connection flight in the U, S, was moved to the next day with a 23 hour layover. I called Vayama, and of course they told me to call the airline. I will NEVER book with them again, and I would advise all of you to stay away from them.
So I took a car (at 3 am nonetheless) to make my flight, only to be informed by the check in people that my ticket had been cancelled. It would've been nice of them to email me beforehand, no? So of course I had to rebook with another airline for $100 more and wait from 8:30 until 3 pm for my new flight. INCOMPETENT and UNETHICAL. Do NOT do business with these people. Pay more if you have to.
The day of my departure I go to check in only to find out Vayama canceled my old booking and never rebooked a new flight! I spent 8 hours on the phone with them and the airline and the airline had no record of a new flight and vayama refused to call the airline to confirm a new flight or send me any confirmation that in fact they did rebook a flight for me.
I had to rebook a last minute flight to Qatar from new York which cost me 3 times more than what the original flight was for. Still pending a dispute from my bank for this transaction. These people are a scam!
Horrible customer service! The website offers many modifications such as name correction but when you call to modify and willingly accept additional charge of $100 as the website says, they do not do it. They had me on the phone back and forth with them and the airline for 2 days trying to get the airline to do the change instead. However, the airline says the travel agency is responsible for the correction of the surname. I was told to just purchase a new ticket and hung up on by a representative! Ended up buying one ticket ($1000) for almost double the price of the 2 tickets ($560) bought originally because they did not want to do their job when the website clearly states that it can be done with a fee.
I booked tickets 6 months in advance. 2 months later we get notified that the tickets had changed and there was no way to actually travel on the flights that they gave us. Our connecting flight was departing before, our first leg flight arrived at the connecting airport. Vayama then took it upon themselves to cancel our flight. When I called them to a refund or different flight, I was told that my original tickets were non-refundable. They cost almost $5,000. I am still trying to get them to refund my tickets. I have contacted the airline and have been told I have to deal with the travel agency. I have been hung up on countless times and their customers service reps are so rude. Buying through Vayama was a terrible mistake! DO NOT DO IT.
I had to change dates
They come up with funny explanation why they would charge me 500$ just for canceling tickets since they couldn't find flights on another date
Customer service keep hanging up on me. When I asked for the option to change the return flight to be moved 1 day before, we were told that we have to pay additional $3000/person while the total of 3 tickets only $3000 so it doesn't make sense.
Horrible experience with this company!
I do not recommend this company to anyone and I will make sure I tell all my friends and family not to use this company!
I will not going to use this company any longer!
Terrible customer support!
The worst customers service ever, I'm done with this website. You don't have the right to talk to a manager when you are not satisfied, all they do in hang up the phone on you. I booked a ticket and by mistake I entered the wrong date so I called to change it knowing that I'm allowed to make changes within 24hrs but I was told that I have to pay $50 to cancel my tickets and buy a new one and thats the only way I can do it. Under the DOT's regulation I do have a right to do it but they refuse to hear it (Under the DOT's regulations, as long as a customer books a non-refundable ticket at least seven days ahead of the scheduled departure, an airline is required to offer one of two options: allow that customer to change or cancel the trip within 24 hours without penalty, or hold that reservation at the current price for.)
I paid for 2 Business seats and when I showed up at the airport (In India) I was told I only had Economy tickets! The airline couldn't help me because I didn't book the tickets directly with them and they only Vayama could make the changes. When I returned back home and contacted them they returned this email
"
We are very sorry to hear about the problems you encountered during your trip.
We would like to negotiate with the airline on your behalf, but they have indicated that due to privacy laws they cannot allow a travel agent to become involved when dealing with a complaint.
They made the reservation! So both sides are saying they cant help. They basically took over $600.00 from me. DONT Use THEM!
Never use this site for bookings. They never respond to the clients once you buy the ticket.
Moreover, they charge $100 for change of date, details or cancellation.
I don't recommend Vayama.
It isn't a trustworthy agency, customer service is non-existent. I had a problem with the date of my booking, I tried to contact them in every possible way and I didn't get a clear and satisfactory answer.
1. I tried to contact them on their website and it keeps telling me that something went wrong, plus it won't let me contact customer care and it won't let me change the dates of the bookings.
2. I contacted them by email, no reply.
3. I contacted them on Facebook. They only stated that charges would apply, no more information.
4. I contacted them by email again. They told me my request had already been solved and that I didn't need any assistance, which is not true.
5. I contacted by phone 4 times. In the first 3 calls they told me they had problems with the system and that I should call back later. In the last call they gave me a new email.
6. I contacted them to this new email. They told me I should pay a difference for the ticket and an administration fee. The total cost was twice the cost of a new ticket purchased directly with the airline. They didn't give me any more information.
Please refrain from booking with this agency is you want to avoid inconveniences.
Booked a flight yesterday eve. Got two eMails, the later one of which says "Your e-ticket is attached". In that eMail, i find two documents, in one it simply says "Payment overview". The other one does contain same "Booking number", an "E-ticket number" and "Online Checkin (sic) number". Tried all those numbers on Netflights.com and similar sites with output "Sorry, we were unable to find your booking" and similar. The "Checkin" number is not the usual format starting with an "N" or "BND/". On the airline's site, the booking is also not found, it outputs just details to their call center for trouble-shooting
Will try to update this, should a correct booking reference be supplied.
EDIT: Not sure why Vayama was unable to provide usable documentation, or if this just a problem with usual lookup sites and/or my airline's web info. Anyways, the airline customer service confirmed the e-ticket number is legit and sent me proper e-ticket pdf's by eMail today. Rating upgraded from 1 to 4 stars.
I've booked through budget sites before, and am very aware of the issues that would incur if I tried to cancel or change a flight, however, I've never had to cancel a flight or change a flight so It's usually worth the risk.
NEVER did I imagine that I would get so many "flight time changes", so my new bookings aren't even remotely close to my original booking. My layover times kept getting longer (Which is why I booked the flight in the first place, for it's duration), and eventually I was booked onto a new flight that made me miss my connection, with no change to my connection flight. That's when I had to pick up the phone.
They blamed it on the airline, but it's obvious that they are gambling with people's itineraries. The flights I was booked on still exist, I just got kicked off. VAYAMA IS NOT CONFIRMING YOUR FLIGHTS WITH THE AIRLINE.
They offered to "Refund my whole flight" because they next available flights they could book me on were either two days prior, or two days after. This is 5 MONTHS before my actual fly time. I accepted a full refund, knowing I am about to spend 30% more because I'm now booking late, and they tell me I won't get a confirmation that my refund has been "approved" for 24-48 hours, and my refund if approved will not be posted until 30-40 days after. Needless to say, it's terrifying, unacceptable, and exhausting.
In hindsight, should I have taken the risk with this site on such a big purchase? No... but it's extremely frustrating, and if I can keep anyone from doing the same that's my goal.
Most likely, according to other reviews, I'm going to have to chase my money for the next couple months... wonderful. Wish me luck.
Just know if you have any type of delay or issues, the customer service is terrible. I had my flight canceled one day and delayed so bad the next day that I missed my connection. Obviously not Vayama's fault, but due to the delays I had a flight from Dublin to Austria that I had purchased separately that I was going to miss. The airline couldn't re-book me on a flight that could get me to Dublin before my flight to Austria (which couldn't be changed because it was part of a group booking for a ski trip). So I called Vayama to see if there was anything they could do to help get me there since they partner with multiple carriers. I understand in the terms and such that they may not be able to have access to that but the customer service person was SO rude and not very sensitive to my situation. She interrupted me twice to say Air Canada was "bluffing" me and that it wasn't Vayama's fault. She said the only thing they could do was offer a full refund on my original ticket and then I could "rebook" with Vayama and pay the difference. I paid $500 for that flight three months ago and to "rebook" a flight out with Vayama same day to get to my destination would cost well over $1,000. I feel like they could have helped me but chose to try and make me pay more $$ instead. I kept asking if there was any way they could help me get to Dublin in time or even fly me straight to Austria and the woman got frustrated with me and even put the phone down. I travel a lot and I try to stay calm because I know it's not the booking agent's fault, but she was beyond rude and just mean. I was already in a stressed state trying to get to my destination for a trip that I'd already invested $1,000s in after being delayed for two days. I would gladly pay a couple extra hundred dollars in the future to never deal with this company again.
