Takes too long to get a verifying e mail, then it is tricky to get back to your request.

Regarding the actual appraisal, I wonder if it was done by a human or an algorithm.

Good but could be better

If I went with my item to the Antique Road Show, the Appraiser would tell me a story about the item, sometimes an entire history. I checked on Chat GPT4 and I got what I wanted. From VMS I received a bunch of Paper, something what the watch already told and shows me, with an approximate amount the value of the watch. One Paper of the was something about the watch. The rest were only legal stuff and their policies.

I got what I needed the value and what I wanted and I am fine with that.

You are of course correct, we are a valuation service. Our appraisals will include a description of the item, some interesting insight into each piece we appraise, we will also provide auction estimates and an insurance value.

On the Antiques Roadshow I believe the short segment we see on the show is only a small amount of the time the specialist spends with the owner and the item being presented.

I had some very good valuation reports in the past, but I also had some reports with very less /not useful information. Maybe this depends on which expert is doing the valuation? With this I mean for example:

"I see that this painting has been offered at...,... and... auctioneers where it sold for €... on... 2023. After so much recent exposure, its value will not be any higher than the value of the last sale."
Or another example: "each shows heavy craquelure, which suggests that the paint is in a fragile and possibly unstable condition."

As I am the recent buyer myself, and not interested in selling again this info is not useful for me.
It seems as the focus is only on selling and making profit. As a collector, I am not looking for this info where it was sold, or for which price, or a report with 2 sentences about condition. It seems, as a 'connaisseur' I gave much, much more information to them, then they give to me, for which I am paying. The only remaining purpose then is 'putting a value for insurance reasons'.

Waste of money

Appraisal produced nothing I could use. Value was inaccurate even compared to provided comparables. Didn't use decent photo in report despite being provided with plenty.

As per our email correspondence the issue with the images you provided was that these were too large. Our system can accommodate large images, however yours were the exception. We are pleased to note we were able to use one image.

I provided a detailed description of the item that I wanted to be valued, including its provenance and backstory regarding how it was discovered and eventually signed by the sports legend to whom it is associated. The item is truly one-of-a-kind and is related to a unique and amazing major championship title having been won by a female in a male dominated sport. I would guess that the appraisal value is low by at least 2 orders of magnitude.

I find it comical that this feedback/review questionnaire include a "Did you contact ValueMyStuff for any customer service issues?" button because there's no way to contact ValueMyStuff.

I retrospect the ValueMyStuff website has the feel of a scam site.
