As per our appraisal, as well as the private email correspondence, during the appraisal process our specialist searched for similar coins sold, but was unable to find any. We confirmed this in response to your email. I am afraid posting the question in a negative review will not change the fact there are no sales results for similar coins sold recently at auction.
Instead, our specialist has used his many years experience to determine the value he believes the coin will sell for at public auction. With no comparible sales results available, our specialists rely on their considerable expertise and knowledge of the market to make their appraisals. I had an antique hutch that has been in my family for generations. I did a lot of online research about appraisal options and decided to give ValueMyStuff a try based on their website and customer reviews. I didn't want to get a "free" appraisal because I felt I might not be able to trust it. Conversely, I did not want a high end expensive appraisal because I didn't think the value of the piece would merit paying $100 or more for an appraisal.
I was not disappointed. The process was easy and my appraisal came within 48 hours as promised. Appraisal was easy to read and understand and even gave me some details that I did not already know about the piece, and included a downloadable certificate, which I can now share if I want to sell, donate, or insure it.
I even emailed them with a follow up question and received a prompt, courteous, personal, detailed and helpful response. Definitely above and beyond what I would have expected for $28.
I have some other pieces that I'm curious about. I will definitely use VMS again, and have already recommended them to others.

We ordered four appraisals of gent watches, for insurance purposes. Our insurance company did not accept their certificates as valid appraisals. I requested a refund for the four appraisals we purchased from them on October 4,2023, since we were not able to use them for the purpose intended.
They were dismissive of our request and did not offer to give us any reparation for our hardship of trusting this service to provide legit appraisals just to find out the certificates received were phony, we were scammed out of $112.
They advertise in the homepage that appraisals can be used for Insurance purposes and also claim in one of their website pages that most insurance companies accept their appraisals. We find the information provided by valuemystuff.com and their certificates to be confusing and contradicting.
To make things worse they threatened to attack our reviews of this experience in their emails! This company has no regard for the customer and should not be trusted for serious matters!

As per our email correspondence, many of our clients use our reports for insurance purposes and many insurance companies accept them. As our reports are not signed, we make it very clear in our Terms of Use the reports may not be suitable for insurance or legal purposes. We rely on our clients to check with their insurers prior to proceeding, rather than blame us for their insurers policies.
We also offer a 7 day a week client service which you could have contacted to ask.
Rather than scamming you, we provided the service as per the clearly stated Terms of Use on our website. Your insurance company not accepting our reports is not our responsibility, nor reason for a refund.
Our certificates are not phony. We are the longest standing online valuation service and have provided well over a million appraisals worldwide to many satisfied and long standing customers.
We respectfully suggest we did not threaten to 'attack' your reviews. Rather when we correctly declined your request for a refund, you responded with the assurance you would leave us a negative review. We thanked you for bringing this to our attention and informed you, as a courtesy, we would respond appropriately.

I used this service to evaluate a family heirloom before I gave it as a wedding gift to the younger generation. It was nice to have the appraisal to print off and include with the item. It was great that I could do it from home, and I did not have to seek out a professional and travel etc. I highly recommend the service.

Straightforward and prompt response to my submission. I see no issues with details in the Appraisal Certificate.
The review came in earlier expected so that was a positive suprise. The report is very standard. I asked to value a LV trunk I have. I hoped to get a bit more a details expertise since I believe our trunk is custom made. The value of the trunk seems to be only based on previous results on auctions and not really taking in account the (possible) value of the trunk. To be honest, that pre-study we did already ourselves. So we will redo the valuation exercise with an expert in LV trunks
