As a couple in our mid 60s we enjoy travel. We have stayed in several vacation rentals through various agencies without problems. Our October 7-8 reservation with Vacasa via Booking.com was horrible. At no point in the process were we informed that the route to the cabin was not only remote but difficult to drive. Our car barely traversed the steep mountain one lane road, but when we finally reached the cabin the steep drop onto the property made it impossible without fear of getting stuck. We went back down the mountain, rented a hotel in Franklin NC and notified both parties that we never entered the property grounds or cabin. Since we had prepaid for the stay, we immediately asked for a full refund, or at least a refund of the cleaning fee etc since it was not needed. Both entities immediately claimed that it was up to the other organization to allow a refund. They acted like the scarecrow in Wizard of Oz, pointing in all directions but at themselves. After several days of calling and texting, the result was unchanged. We would not receive any of our nearly $400 back. At one point a person on the phone even played the old static on the line trick! They were incredible in their audacity to deny accountability, even going so far to state that it was OUR problem because we had not consulted with local authorities to determine the state of the road! We will never use either service again.
Oct. 2023. As an owner the guest reviews have become negative since Vacasa has managed the house.
Published comments by renters are: Pots and pans greasy, utensils not clean,( we installed a new dishwasher 4 months ago). Operation Book with menus for local restaurants provided by owner is not being left in visible location by Vacasa housekeeping. Three times in 2023 Vacasa Housekeepers have left the sliding door and windows unlocked, and each time the owner reported to Manzanita Management and still continues. Poor communication as owner has asked repeatedly for Manzanita Manager to phone and not one single reply in 6 months. Not one phone call. D.R.B. / J.N.B-Owners Neahkanie, OR
We trusted Vacasa to manage our ski condo. It's been a disaster since day 1 and I wish we never signed the contract. They went live with our listing without even telling us or us giving permission. They didn't answer any of our questions or emails. Because they went live with the listing and we received some really cheap bookings, we had to go ahead and pay $1,250 fee to our association for renters fee which expired two months later. We never would have gone ahead and rented the place during this timeframe, as it wasn't ready and it wouldn't have booked $1,250 in revenue to make up for it. SO, we got some cheap renters which we basically had to pay for. Icing on the cake - they came and had a terrible experience because no one at Vacasa gave them the information needed for the stay - not even the code to get in. So after all the work we put in to make our condo clean and new, we got charged for renters, didnt make any money and got bad reviews - not because of our property, because of the Vacasa experience. We try communicating with management, they take one call to hear us out and let us know they can fix it. We give them a chance. They never even get back in touch with us! We've emailed, we've called, we've texted... we can't even cancel this partnership because they won't get back in touch with us. I have never had such a poor experience with a business - I don't know how anyone that works there can do what they're doing. They shouldn't have taken on the business if they couldn't handle it. They should've fixed the mistakes that they made that we suffered from, they should at least be in contact and communicate what they said they would. I will forever warn anyone and everyone to not rent or have vacasa manage their property - they're criminals.
Rented a place in south carolina at the end of August that was awful. Vacasa said they would give me a refund. Trying to get the refund has been a nightmare. I have called several times about a status on the refund first call they said it would be 4 to 7 day before the refund would show on my statement. Called them back at 6 days the they said it was going to be 2 weeks. Now they are telling they have send a check and it could be up to 30 days. It's October and I still don't have my refund
My wife and I don't really know where to begin. We always read reviews on a unit in detail before renting, and we did this for Tidewater Beach Resort #1106 in Panama City Beach. There was a very poor one star review showing for September 2023 which normally would have caused us to stay away, but since Vacasa responded to the review saying that local staff was working on correcting the concerns experienced, we decided to go ahead and rent for 10/5/2023 through 10/8/2023. After checking in, though, it was apparent that none of the issues had been addressed. This included the bird poop all over the balcony flooring, table and chairs, the balcony door being virtually impossible to open (my wife couldn't open at all), and the living furniture being full of stains and too dirty to sit on (we had to place bathroom towels all over the furniture). As a result, my wife called Vacasa by phone about an hour after arriving to tell them about all the issues, and they asked that we e-mail pictures which I did a few minutes later. Their e-mail response back was that they would report the issues to the local operations manager, and that they would keep us updated on the status. Well, there was no response from anyone by late Friday afternoon (twenty-four hours later), so we e-mailed Vacasa again, and got the same answer from a different person saying that we would be contacted about the issues. Again, no response by late Saturday afternoon (now forty-eight hours later) which now made it the night before we were checking out, so we contacted them again, and simply got an apology e-mail response from a third person at Vacasa. As this is our second straight bad experience with Vacasa as we had similar issues with a condo through them last month in Hilton Head Island, we never rent through Vacasa again.
Took rental on referral from Marriott. Little place in the Poconos. Was in bad condition. Took pics. Spent $ on little repairs. Sent to "management". 1 response saying "regional manager" would contact us. Nothing. 2 warnings before review. They suck. Used serious cleaner on hand surfaces (cupboards & fridge), poor mattress topper condition, damaged items, radiator pulled from wall. And they're trading on Marriott's name.
Vacasa is unresponsive during and after our stay. The house smelled horrible, had mold in the bathroom. We spoke with them and they said they would send someone out: no one came or followed up. We had to clean everything ourselves. Terrible company and terrible service.
Rating is actually a zero. Do not waste your time taking out the insurance in case you need to cancel. It's an act of Congress to get your money back. You have to file a claim and provide proof of why you're canceling and then most likely you still won't get your money back. I will never do a reservation again if Vacasa is in control. Ask questions. Make sure you can easily get your money back. There should never be a hassle canceling.
My car was damaged by someone throwing items off of the balcony while I stayed at one of the properties offered by Vacasa. Parking is assigned; unfortunately, the spot given to me was under the balcony overhang. Someone from a floor above me dropped items from the balcony above and broke my windshield. I asked for help from Vacasa but they offered zero solutions. Will never book through them again.
Reveiws about their rental properties are filtered. I posted a review about how filthy "off the board" was and that cust serv would never call us back. It never posted, link to post review says I already posted. Pic of vacuum I used moments after check in. Had been empty when I started. Beware!
Upon our very late arrival (10 p.m.), we discovered a Public Health Notice announcement for ALL Battleground Condominiums. The statement was to notify residents that the combined RADIUM levels were above drinking water standards. Although the announcement said it was safe to bathe and wash food, you should not boil the water for consumption (drinking or cooking) as that only increases the radium levels. The listing states "The tap water is not drinkable, though it is safe for cooking and bathing." There is NO disclosure that this is due to a cancer-causing agent. There was NO potable water provided by the rental property at Unit #2. Luckily, we had some bottled water from our travels and were able to utilize that (especially for those of us needing to take prescription medications). We immediately checked out the following morning and were lucky enough to find another home in the area to accommodate our party of five. We have requested a partial refund from the management property, Vacasa, but it has not been issued as of the time of this review. The report has been "escalated".
In addition to the radium contamination, the home was not to our liking. The property was not exceptionally clean. One set of bed linens was visibly stained. There was dust in many locations, most noticeably on the tops of the built-in bookshelves, which could be seen from the upstairs loft area. There was also mouse feces/droppings visible on the tops of the bookshelves. The home is very dated with old curtains/drapery (which are likely not laundered or cleaned on any frequent basis) and old bed covers/comforters. The condo was last sold in May 2017, and the same curtains and bed covers can be seen in the online sales listing (https://www.redfin.com/VT/Fayston/2-Battleground-Rd-*******/unit-2/home/******* MLS #*******).
Overall the property was nice, with a playground, tennis and basketball courts, and a seasonal/summer pool. We would potentially stay at another (updated) unit, especially if the water contamination problem has been resolved, but certainly not one managed by Vacasa.
I booked 301 Summerchase in Orange Beach, Alabama September 25-30,2023. Corner unit offered scenic view of beach and gulf. Lovely artwork throughout and well stocked kitchen; Bring extra dish towels. Unit appeared to be very clean with exception of floors...walking barefoot on the ceramic floors left bottoms of feet black. Upon arrival I reported broken toilet paper holder and door security latch to Vacasa. I was asked if I wanted these things repaired during my stay and I said I did not. That night I reported the Master toilet leaking. After numerous texts having thought I made it abundantly clear I wanted to be present when repairment were in unit, I left my number with instructions agreed apon to be called after 10 AM the next morning. 3 days later I found the toilet paper holder repaired. No one ever notified me. The toilet and security latch were never repaired. I had to share guest bath with my guest. From before check until check out I received faulty information including: no rental umbrellas and chaise lounges on the beach (I was advised to get in my vehicle and drive 10 miles down the beach where I could rent umbrella and chaise lounge), no luggage carts and a text stating to leave sheets on the beds upon check out with another e mail staing to remove sheets from beds upon check out.
We rented a home at St George Island Florida. The house is in bad disrepair, including doors which do not open to the outside, which is a fire hazard. The board walk to the beach swats when walked on, and one potion partially collapsed. We had water pouring in the front door during a storm, with pots and towels staying on the landing to catch the water. This house needs a fire inspection and the local code enforcement needs to visit, my next phone call. I followed up bad reviews for the home so I could endure the problems were fixed. I was told numerous times that all repairs had been made. Vacasa lied again and again. We received i night's compensation which I assure you was not enough.
Due to an emergency surgery, we were unable to use our rental so I lost $1400. I tried to inform the management and received e-mails lwith impersonal responses like...are you enjoying your stay, drive carefully, etc. I expect to at least communicate with a real person as opposed to an automated response. I tried to let them know they wouldn't need to clean the place since we never made it and got the responce...please clarify. This type of communication is unacceptable to me.
Their app is horrible, their customer service is horrible and their bookings are horrible. Go anywhere else.
I rented a 2 bed 2 bath condo in Port Isabel, TX. The advertisement was lacking the truth and not at all what it claimed to be. Conditions of the condo and its contents that were to be used by tenants totally false, said it had a patio not true called maintenance for services that should have been checked prior yet not checked, 2 TVs yet couldn't see it nor local channels. I have contacted management to resolve the terrible hardship put on me and they think a small amount of refund is enough it is NOT. IF I DONT GET WHAT I HAVE ASKED FOR I WILL COME BACK AND POST PICTURES AND TELL IT ALL.
We booked a golf vacation through Golf Zoo which booked out lodging through Vacasa Hilton Head, SC.
A few weeks prior to our stay I searched for reviews of the property. I found several reviews on the property and they mentioned the unit had air conditioning problems. Property Manager had been called and sent technician to property who told the occupants the AC Unit was old and was working the best it could. We called Vacasa 3 weeks in advance and they assured us the unit was fixed. When we arrived at the property at 3PM the temo in the lower floor was 80 degrees. Upper Floor was closer to 90. They had installed a portable unit upstairs and placed fans throughout the lower floor. We called Vacasa and they said they would have the property Manager call us. It didn't happen. We went back to check in and the General Manager attempted to lie to our face and say they found a clogged drain line that day and were waiting for it to cool off. This was a bold faced lie. After several terse conversations they located another unit. It was a dump bad had AC. Hadn't been updated since the 70s. We stayed one more day and when out of pocket to book another place. Stay as far away from this company as you can.
Condo dusty & dirty, we were told dusting is not part of the weekly cleaning.
Leaking tub shower head since June still not repaired correctly.
Drywall damage from June leak not repaired.
Blankets we left for renters have all disappeared repeatedly except for one very old one.
AC filter filthy and unchanged.
I booked property in Aspen, from 28 to 29 September. Unfortunately a member of our family tested Covid positive and we needed to cancel our trip to Aspen. I asked whether we could move our booking to another date and gave them plenty notice but they were greedy and inflexible and did not allow for a date change. I spoke to a representative and then to a manager called Michael but they didn't want to rebook to early November when we can fly again to Aspen. For example the airline we were flying with immediately put our flight on hold and gave us 9 months to rebook. It is not a surprise tha Vacasa is rated so low.
Upon arrival the house was clean and as lovely as on previous visits.
However, there were some issues. Lack of wash cloths was first. Then, several burned out light bulbs especially in the kitchen. Several sink drains were very slowed, somewhat clogged.
The greeting that we received indicated free WIFI with the name "Animal House 547" and no required password. Both were in error. After trying to call the local office, we did find a card on the refrigerator that indicated the proper name and very long password. Then, that worked fine.
When we noticed that the ice maker in the ground level was leaking onto the floor, we attempted to reach the office to alert maintenance. The call went to India as did the one for the internet questions. So, we drove a couple of blocks to the local office to find it empty during the posted open hours on the door. We went back to the house, turned off the ice maker and put a towel on the floor to soak up the leakage.
Finally, we were disappointed to see that Corolla Classics/VACASA will no longer be handling this property. Looks like it's time to change rental companies.
Answer: It's a monster scam. Avoid at all costs. I've rented several properties that ended up going through Vacasa - despite my best efforts to avoid them. You can't find out that it's Vacasa until after they have your money. It's a criminal enterprise.
Answer: In my experience, construction is their "catch all" excuse for canceling. Follow up to verify that it was rented, but for higher fee.
Answer: I am not sure but for the renter (not the owners) the fees may be charged without full disclosure.
Answer: Bad bad bad worst service I ever got at a short term rental
