I travel alot for my business and thought i would give united a "go". What a joke this company is. I can remember when it was such a wonderful experience to fly and you were treated like royalty, and now we are simply treated like a herd of cattle on and off the plane you go, and dont dare ask any questions or for some simple service! And where do these glorified waitresses in the sky get off acting like there s%&$ dont stink. Im done with you United, will never fly the unfriendly skies again!
Doing business with this site always has a good outcome for me. Though I'm not really satisfied, still the customer service always has an idea how to deal with flight delays.
Lost my luggage from LAX to PEK (it went to SD instead) cost me hundreds of $ in international phone charges and 12 days to finally get my bag. The customer service reps were unfriendly, rude, some even downright lied to me as to the status of retrieving it.
I was trying to reach of apprise the opportunity to get a bereavement fair but the Southwest agent was unable to help, and was exrejmeky extremely
They may not be as sexy as other airlines but they get you there and they've even updated their website and have wifi on most flights. It's all about getting "status"...
Just like the song that you can hear on Youtube" UNITED AIRLINES BREAKS GUITARS". They sure destroyed my very rare and expensive 1967 Martin guitar. It had clearly been dropped out of or off the luggage conveyer belt and dropped some 15 feet to the ground. If you are a professional musician be ready for a fight with these fools. Don't let them put your guitar in the luggage bay.
The neck of the guitar was snapped in two places and it was in a super protective hard shell case. The value of the guitar is in the thousands of dollars and so far they have not offered to do anything at all. The service people did not keep their appointment and the letter that we wrote to the airline has not yet been answered.
At first they said that they would not even look at what they had done until we had to get in their faces. The best that they said they would do is give us an email address to voice our complaints. Wow what a bunch of creeps. I guess it goes with out saying that based on the reviews I have been reading on these clowns United is correctly rated as the worst airline in most all categories. For me they are experts in dishonesty, and lack of concern for their customers, I will never fly with them again. I give them only one star because there is not a way to select zero stars! Yuck.
We travelled and have used many different airlines, but we think UA is quite decent to travel and most flight attendants are quite accomodating.
I've never had a problem with United Airlines. I did prefer Continental before the merge with United. I like being able to pick my seat, I enjoy the in-flight entertainment, and the customer service most of the time. Continental was a bit better with customer service. The only thing I do not like is the checked bagage fee. They've never lost any of my bags though!
Stuck on the tarmac on our flight to Hawaii for 2 hours, in their old, over booked 737, (Right, a 737 to Hawaii), until they had to go back to the gate to offload passengers. Plane overweight.
On the way back, our 3 o'clock flight was delayed, until 9 PM; right, 6 hours late! I missed work the next day, getting back into Los Angeles at 4 am.
I fly allot, first time on United, and my Last!
The company is UNfriendly Uncaring and UNSAFE! After going through an emergency landing due to landing gear issues the customer service department was ill-informed and some of them down right rude. Their phone support was hopeless. I had to explain three times to three different service personal what had just happened. In todays ease of communication I would have thought the United staff would have known a disaster had just been aborted.
I'm very surprised - they came in dead last in a current national survey, and the items in the survey which brought them in to this dead last position did not even include my most objectionable characteristic of this union of one bad and one good airlines.
My least, least favorite thing about United is their seating. Unless you are under 5'6" tall, you will not be happy. Expect your neighbor directly in front of you to be laying in your lap for a very, very, very long flight (even if it's only 1-1/2 hours or around that).
Who decides these things? Someone from ISIS's hospitality and accommodations group?
They should be tried at the Hague for crimes against humanity.
This is what happens when we allow these mega-mergers. Higher prices, lousy service, more delays, theft of award miles, animal-like treatments and crowding, hunger (not even snacks), fees for everything, and less benefits.
Welcome to the "un-friendly" skies.
Wish I could walk or ride my bike there (but it's just a little too far).
Flights were all on time, flight attendants were pleasant, overall enjoyable
They provide good services to me and its to bad read very bad reviews about them. Thanks!
United is the worst of the worst. I would rather fly by carrier pigeon than fly with them ever again. I have given them many chances, believe me. From lost luggage, delays, missed connections to finding myself crying in the airport out of total frustration. Pay whatever it is you have to in order to use another airline.
The website is fine, but the company is UNfriendly Uncaring and UNSAFE! After going through an emergency landing due to landing gear issues the customer service department was ill-informed and some of them down right rude. Their phone support was hopeless. I had to explain three times to three different service personal what had just happened. In todays ease of communication I would have thought the United staff would have known a disaster had just been aborted. Thank goodness for the staff at LUFTHANSA who were courteous and efficient. Everything United weren't.

Merge and merge and merge. Charge more for this and that. Squeeze a dollar. Act like just a bit more holier than thou. Even if the computers are running everything now, this airline sucks and I feel sorry if you must traverse the "friendly skies."
Other that that, I like them.
Well, United Airlines does it again. I bought a ticket for my sister to visit because she has cancer and no money. Her doctor now states that she cannot fly, so I attempted to call United to see if I could get a refund under these circumstances. There is NO way to speak with an American, and I was routed to India who was as useful as teats on a bull. The short of it is that I am going to have to swallow the cost of this ticket or pay a $200 re-booking fee which exceeds the cost of the ticket. Every experience I have had with United has been negative, and I should have known better than to ever use them again. Unfortunately, they have the only nonstop flight from the originating city, and my sister cannot handle the change in flights. United has got to be the worst run business I have ever encountered.
UPDATE: October 11,2013
American Express challenged United after I disputed the charge with them. United gave me back 100% of my ticket price thanks to American Express.
LESSON:
Dispute a charge and provide proper documentation but dispute it through your credit card company that has more power than you.
Not only do they charge you a $150 change fee to change your ticket they charge a $150 change fee for each direction to refund your miles you used for seat upgrades. Lame policy that I'm sure is hidden somewhere deep on the 25th page of the rules but that's BS.
United airline booking air ticket - United is not customer friendly at all as it only wants to push what is profitable and convenient for the airline rather than the customer. If you want to travel from Houston to Hong Kong, Chicago or Denver or both will come up rather than SFO, with you waiting up to 4 hours in transit. Who wants to go to those places in stead of SFO to take the chance of weather induced delays in November? There is a 6 am and an 8 am departure from Houston but they never show the 8 am one. Then coming back instead of 4 - 5 pm to Houston they have you arrive at 10:30 pm, and 8 pm if you are luck. They have a check box for senior and if you check it the fare is no different. The comparable fare is 30% higher on UA than on CO. Wonder if they don't go belly up sooner
