#Uniplaces start-up is doing an Unfair Business Practice. Not only unfair, it is despicable. Has pulled in $3.5 million. It is not difficult if you cheat your customers with
Unilateral contract terms.
Founders Miguel Santo Amaro, Leo Lara, Ben Grech, Mariano Kostelec said: Uniplaces is creating a TRUSTED, global brand for STUDENT accommodation.

I am not a student, but a freelancer traveller and booking an accommodation for long-term through the Uniplaces in Portugal. After the reservation has been down and the money is withdrawn from my account with their service fee, /but not only tenants pay for service fees but also landlords, double is good/ I've been trying to reach them by email or phone for more than two months. They did not even answer. You choose an apartment based on photos, which you can renegotiate if you change your mind. This is not true, you will never be able to cancel.
According to the contract, if circumstances are not appropriate they will find you in 24 hours the other. This is what will never happen.
(Breach of contract! Legally disputable. Seeking third-party assistance.)
You must agree with the situation or lose your money without any answers.

Avoid this company far away in any form, either as a customer or as an employee, obviously, the business behaviour and policy is based on deception and scam. In our Startup World, this is shameful.
You know, there's a section in the jail that even the other prisoners are avoided far away.

I was accommodated in Cinecitta at via libero Leonardi with this horrible angry landlord Mario. He robbed my deposit for cleaning bills. There was no respect for my privacy or rights as a renter. I was there for only a month and he tried to throw me out 3 times, because I was messy and later it was because he didn´t like me. I wasn´t messy. Once I just left in a hurry for a vacation and left my clothes lying on the floor. I felt very unsafe. The landlord was a unemployed slacker. A baboon who was always at home getting territorial and shouting to his phone at the balcony when I was there and had to keep the balcony open because of airconditioning. He also told me that there was a celaner for free and then after I left he charged over 120 euro´s from my deposit for cleaning bills. I haven´t had any answear from uniplaces about the robbery. They just don´t care. I´m going to the police.

Sent the amount of money to their bank as the landlord asked me then they said If your payment is approved within 36 hours, i will receive an email confirming that me payment is approved and they will send the key of the apartment by post to me address but that's dose not happen and its already 2 week after me payment done, i wrote them an email but there's no replay from their side. I know that is my problem cause i found bad reputation of this company on the network but the landlord convinced me that every things will be secured and i believed what the company said about them self on their website

I have had a horrible experience with Uniplaces. The photos exposed in the website are not as reality. Once I get in the apartment I wanted to cancel it. I did it before the 24 hours and now Uniplaces don't want to give me my money back. That completely sucks. Besides, it is expressed in the website that I can always have help to get another and it is being exactly the opposite! They keep insisting in not refund me. What is worst, I even speak with the landlord. He agrees with me, is not as in the pictures and he thinks I have the right to change my mind. And Uniplaces says the owner does not want to cancel the reservation! They do everything to keep the money!

Doesn't follow their own terms and conditions, ignores their users and illegally holds user's money. Argues that you solve the problems with the landlord by yourself, and in reality do not give any guarantees that the apartment will not differ from that indicated. Money does not return, I lost 2 payments

Disappointment
March 3, 2017

My experience with uniplaces is being horrible; I had problems with the booking at start... first of all you have to be very exact in the dates that you are going to use the apartment and look very well the conditions of the advertisement,(tip: print all) in my case I arrived atLisbon one day before what I booked to be able to see the floor, when I arrived the landlord had rented more people than he advertised on the page, so I told him that with so many people I did not want to stay, he said it was a problem of uniplaces, because he had been very clear detailing the conditions of the rooms, but that they had offered badly... now uniplaces is doing everything possible to not give me back the money, excuses the landlord and they said until he can not rent the room they don't return the money; uniplaces is a platform that acts as an intermediary and they should be the ones who respond to these cases, but they refuse to do anything about it. The worst thing is that this has been a week, I consulted an lawyer who told me that they have committed fraud and that I can sue, but that would take me a long time, I'm going to give them a little time to get my money back and if not I'm going to get involved in trials...
I certainly would not recommend this page, there are many other options and much cheaper

Afortunadamente, me atendió Vanessa. Gracias y espero que todo siga así.

Fraud never use
February 22, 2017

Never ever use this website. I booked a place, Uniplace only send the number, an email and a name which is "Widerproperty". If you check their Facebook page only liked by 2 people and their website does not work properly. The time i booked they send me an e-mail and told me I need to send all my information (passport copy, resident permit, a paper states if i am single or not, address proof) in 15 minute or else my booking will be cancelled. Since I have already paid, I made a mistake and send everything with a rush. Then called them they said they don't work on sundays so I needed to wait. Wait till monday which is my move in day and called them, they said they are waiting for final confirmation. I informed uniplace told them could you please block my money. They said of course and told me they have blocked it and called my landlord who told them my contract will be ready in a few moments. They also called me said that I got the final validation but it is so late let's do the contract tomorrow. So by that my move in 24 hours have passed. The day after they said they need my proof of residence again because my contract in my home country was not enough because it is "editable", I was already in Coimbra staying is a hostel since they don't even have the deceny of talking with me face to face and have not bring anything with me that states my address proof for them. They said without it they cannot rent me the place and they need it now. I informed uniplace about the status of my booking and never heard from them again. Called those guys and they never pick up the phone. Today i checked and the supposedly blocked money have been taken from my account. And that's the story of how I got scammed 450 euro. In any case never use this website, its not fail proof at all.

Fraud
January 10, 2017

Simply a fraud, website is complicated to find the breakdown of their payment, they took away your money and never ask for you, they charge you and the landlord charge you, In Berlin which is the most depressing place to find a room they use that and apply an overrated prices, and they simply comeback with no refunds.
I wish i could take any legal actions against them.

My partner and I were excited to try an alternative to Airbnb, and a friend directed us to the Uniplaces platform. We booked an apartment in Lisbon for two months at 1300 euros per month. The 1300 euros was boldly written on the apartment listing page. There were no reviews for the apartment, however for the description (90 square meters), a great location, two balconies, and weekly cleaning included in the price, we decided to give it a shot, and we request to book the apartment. 24 hours later we receive a confirmation stating that 2,180 Euros has been charged to our card. We thought, "Great! We get a discount for booking two months instead of one!" We arrived at our apartment and were disappointed to find the apartment was no larger than 60 square meters and had NO balconies (only french doors). We are disappointed, but there is nothing we can do; we have nowhere else to go. Fast foward six weeks into our reservation, our landlord contacts us saying she hasn't received the second month's payment! This was odd. We look at our bank statement and 2600 USD came out. Perhaps there was an error in converting the currency... Now Uniplaces is contacting us saying $2600 is for ONE month and that the rent is VARIABLE!

Additionally, aside from the apartment being smaller, there are cockroaches in the hall, the cleaning service was never regular, and we can't even get our money back or get our landlord to fix anything!

This practice is abhorrent and disgusting. They also don't speak fluent English (even on the website where all the language is fairly unclear and ambiguous). Unfortunately just stick to Airbnb. At least you can get your money back if the landlord doesn't deliver on what is promised, and Airbnb can communicate in plain English.

I had really bad experience with uniplaces. The customer support is really bad I wrote 3 emails and they didn't reply to any of them. Furthermore, I realised that the room that I booked has a really bad reputation and I asked for a partial refund, but even then no refund was provided for me.

Horrible.
November 10, 2015

I was in a hurry to move to Paris, and I thought the website would save me. All it did was stress me out. I had finally found a studio for 1,0090 euros a month even though it was tiny. On the map it said it was within peripheral paris. I checked the street and something didn't match up, so I called Uniplaces and asked them to verify. Yup, the person was advertising this studio in Alfortville, and pretending it was in the 18th arrondissement. I went through various situations like this, until I decided to just air bnb, for super cheap, then the second day in Paris I found a SUPER AMAZING apartment, for only 800 euros a month... in a top neighborhood. Uniplaces is a rip-off. DO NOT USE IT.

Disappointed
October 24, 2015

My son found a room beginning of may on Uniplaces but the room was not free. The owner, Anna Piccini, offered another room in a family where he could stay. All this without problems. After he went out end of july 15, we are still waiting for the deposit! He never was in the first hired room, so he made no dammages. Nevertheless Anna doens't want to pay back the whole deposit! Yesterday, after 3 months asking, we recieved only half of it.

Hey, this company is suprisely amazing! When I saw the comment bellow of Antonio and Melissa I was very scared to book a flat. I blind out the 190,5 stars reviews on google! I can tell you that I just had to pay one time service-fee and the support was amazing. After my registration I received a call from Andriana ( I think it was the name) half hour later to help me find the perfect apartment in Lisbon. And know, here I am. Very happy with my landlady and in love with this beautiful city! Thanks Uniplaces! I will come back.

Not sure about telling "the entire world", but... I booked a room in an apartment for a friend with a "Move-in" date of March 26 and a "Move-out" date of June 26. Three months, right? Well, much later, I found that the landlord's policy is to charge an entire month for any booking within a month (in this case 5 days). In reality, this is how the website works, reflecting the policy of the landlord, though a bit more transparency would be helpful. UniPlaces website was not clear in this (hopefully a change is being made) and they are working with their landlords to change this policy to something less than a whole month (perhaps a fortnight). Personally, I think it should be based on the booking date (if you sign up for a room on the 15th, thus taking the room off the market, and are moving in on the 25th, you limit the landlord's ability to fill that time. So you would be charged from the 16th). But UniPlaces website was also at fault, as the fact that you were being charged an additional month was hidden behind a "Show all rents" highlighted text that was not so obvious. In our case, because the tenant paid for the entire stay upon arrival, this was not discovered until the last month when the landlord wanted additional payment. I sent an email to UniPlaces and wrote the original scathing review base on my understanding at the time. They contacted me immediately, stated that it was a combination of the landlord's rental policy and a website issue that is "being corrected", agreed that that they would only charge a partial fee for March, and straightened out everything with the landlord. A few days later, I received the pro-rated refund as agreed. Bottom line: The room is good, the folks at UniPlaces are honest, and in the end, My friend (the tenant) and I are satisfied customers. I highly recommend UniPlaces!
