I booked my room in Uniplaces and all went great! As soon as I started to search for a house in Madrid I had the support of one of the agents and they made my life so much easier They replied to all the questions I had and contacted the landlord for me on the ones I had for him. The whole process was really smooth and I definitely do it again if I need to go abroad.
Very disappointed of this real estate website. I have booked an appartment in Paris and turned out to be a scam, the appartment never existed. However, Uniplaces has taken the caution and fees for an amount of 845 euros! I have contacted them explaining them the owner fraud and sent them all the proofs including a complaint to the French authorities, but the customer service stopped answering me.
The amount has been taken from my bank account and no answer from them in 2 days.
In case you are wondering if you should use this platform the answer is no! You won't have replies or a refund.

I had a great experience using Uniplaces to book a place for 6 months. Very quick to find the right place - all the info is online. When I arrived the place was exactly as described. Thank you Uniplaces!

I wanted to book an appartment in Madrid for the period Jan 18-Feb 18. The appartment was advertised for 550€ per month. On the checkout page, I then was informed that my credit card would be charged with 700€ ( 550+150 service fee).
In the confirmation mail I was then informed that I would additionally have to pay 330€ admin fee and 275 "for February", i. E. the total price for an appartment advertised for 550€ per month became 1300€).
After receiving the conformation email, I immediately cancelled (i. E. within 24h). But Uniplaces informed me that according to their cancellation policy they will keep the 700€.
I have to blame myself that I was not cautious enough, the costs are listed on that page (on a sub-page you have to click via a link below the fold, below the fold of the checkout page,... ie always nicely placed where you don't look for it). Thus legally there is probably little I can do against this.
Dear Guido,
Thank you for sending to us the information required.
We have verified your booking and all the information about the rental costs are in our website, and for this specific listing they're visible here: https://www.uniplaces.com/accommodation/madrid/185235 The admin fee is there as well and the values you need to pay for the stay are also showed when you select the dates you want to book. Our website also advises you to chose the fortnightly option to save money before making your payment, but of course our customers are free to select what they believe is best for them.
We regret you couldn’t enjoy your booking this time and we’ll keep working to offer the best accommodations and always strive to do better.
Kind Regards,
The Uniplaces Team
This business talks about verifying properties. What this does not mean though is that the accommodation is legally registered to rent. We got caught out, learn from our shocking experience and never ever use Uniplaces
Dear Adrian,
We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations.
Uniplaces is an intermediary company that helps tenants finding the perfect accommodation according to their needs in top university cities.
Our main goal is always to help both our customers, tenants and landlords and in case you have a special request out of what is described in our website, our colleagues in the Bookings Team can help you before placing a booking, this way we make sure to address you to the landlord that best suits your needs.
We regret you couldn’t enjoy our services this time and we’ll keep working to do better.

When I arranged my exchange in Lisbon (starting in September), I decided to get a room via Uniplaces. As the traveling guidelines fluctuate often due to the pandemic, I laid personal contact with Uniplaces about what would happen if I would be obligated to cancel my room due to Covid-19. Daniel, from the service team, was very polite and explained that I would not have to worry. He assured that most landlords are very understanding towards this situation and I would most likely get my money back. A few weeks later, I did indeed have to cancel my booking due to Covid-19 virus. When I asked Daniel to call me, he refused to and later even blocked me. Instead I had to mail a coworker of his: Gonçalo. Gonçalo told me that he felt sorry about the situation, but opined that we all had to make sacrifices. For sake of the "continuation of Uniplaces", they would not return the money I paid: €639,-. I decided to contact my landlord, who actually was very understanding towards me. She told me she would've liked to return me my money, but is very restricted in her actions. Uniplaces namely pays the landlords far less then the tenants pay. If you find a nice apartment on Uniplaces, I would therefore recommend to google and find it elsewhere. I may conclude that Uniplaces' cancelation policy is an absolute scam. Their customer service is polite as long as they could make money out if it. Overall, it could be considered untrustworthy and overpriced. After having to cancel an exchange (you look forward to for about 3 years), the last thing you want is to be robbed of your money. I hope my fellow students will not experience this as well.
Hello Caron,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations and we regret you couldn’t enjoy your booking this time, we're trying to do our best to help our customers while we also overcome these difficult times together with our landlords.

The Uniplaces Team
This company scams you out of money whenever they get the chance, and then ignores your complaints. Also, charges astronomical rent prices or the areas that the apartments are by trying to take advantage of foreigners. Look into booking locally. I had a terrible experience and would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. As far as I'm concerned, they owe me more than $1,000.
Hi Michael,
We regret to hear this.
Regarding your request, our Customer Service team provided you full information on how to make use of our promotional codes, according to our Terms & Conditions.

Worst organization UNIpLACE, dnt book accomodation with uniplace... you will sample loose your money. I have lost 900. Uniplace is fully fraud organization. Their tie ups with all tenant are fraud...

The landlord that i selected in milan is really terrible even if the the website says that she is trusted. Since she has 3 pets there is pee and poo everyday and everywhere. I made all complains about her with proofs to the uniplaces and Gonçalo, who is in charge of Customer Experience Team at Uniplaces called me and screamed at me and does not explain clearly. Both staffs and the landlord are not trusted now. We cannot trust all info written in the website.
Dear Ali,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations.
Our team has provided you the necessary help, we kindly ask you to take into consideration that our main goal is always to help our tenants and landlords by offering complete information, mediating in solving any special request and to be fair with both sides, but the policies accepted always need to be applied.
Bear in mind that when an external agreement is made for a booking extension, Uniplaces cannot be involved in it.
We’ll keep working to offer the best accommodations and always strive to do better.
Kind Regards,
The Uniplaces Team
This site is only for showing and booking the apartment, nothing more. If you have an issue with the landlord they just say we don't have a legal right and they protect the landlord at all times.
Proof of that is that a month ago I did a negative review and they do not upload it (it complies with their rules).
They do NOT worth the money they charge at all.
If it was 20 Euros instead of 300 I wouldn't expect anything from them and they would have positive feedback.
NOT RECOMMENDED

I used Uniplaces to be connected to a landlord in Rome.
Three weeks before my move in date, the landlord told me over the phone that I would not be able to move in on May 1 due to the quarantine. At this point they made it clear that our agreement was voided and offered no alternative. Because I would not be able to move into the apartment I canceled the booking on Uniplaces. After they realised this the landlord offered me a temporary room, which again is not in agreement with the deal we made. When I refused this offer they offered me a full refund through Uniplaces in an email that I included in a screenshot to Uniplaces.
I have proof of all these correspondences, and Uniplaces STILL refuses to refund me.
Another issue- this trust pilot page is very shady. Many negative reviews are hidden because they don't comply with Uniplaces guidelines? Trustpilot is not a Uniplaces company, why would these reviews need to align with Uniplaces guidelines?
You can see many detailed recent negative reviews. You can also see a lot of unverified, vague 5 star reviews
If I were you Id go look at the reviews on reddit and trip advisor. They are mostly terrible.
Hello Brooks,

You cancelled a booking agreeing with the Cancellation Policy before asking us for mediation and the landlord requested that the policy and the terms and conditions were applied, as you may understand we need to comply with this. As a good will gesture, we offered you a discount as you informed us that you wanted another accommodation.
We regret you cancelled your booking this time and we’ll keep working to offer the best accommodations and always strive to do better.

I first had issues with Uniplaces two days after I booked my room with them. Uniplaces does not let their users get in contact with the landlords prior to making a non-refundable payment. I therefore made the payment of their services fees plus the first month's rent. I messaged my landlord about the security of my room as a "lock was not available". I wanted to know my options of installing a lock. He informed me that a lock was not allowed at all which was not stated in the website. I therefore changed my mind about the room and contacted Uniplaces so that I can get my money back. After a dozen emails, they did not give me a refund. I did not have the means to rent another room, and I had to stay in a room with no lock for two months.
I moved in on the move-in date, signed the contract, and payed my security deposit. During this time, Uniplaces sent me an email to confirm that I moved in. I responded five days later that I had. However, before I had responded, they contacted my landlord to receive a confirmation, but my landlord did not respond. They then closed my reservation and cancelled their services which cost me 150, even though I had responded five days later.
When the pandemic broke out, the government of Canada called all Canadians back. I had to leave earlier than agreed upon in the contract and lost my deposit. I therefore contacted Uniplaces again to see my options for coverage as the circumstances were out of my control. Uniplaces told me that because I had confirmed moving in five days later and that my landlord also failed to confirm on time, they will not help me at all as they closed my reservation and cancelled their services. Keep in mind, I had payed them a service fee, they kept the money, and they refuse to offer me any help or services because I confirmed moving in five days late.
Avoid them at all costs.
Hi Melanie,

Don´t trust Uniplaces! I booked what looked like a beautiful, clean little flat with a trusted landlord for 3 months in Porto. When I arrived, I realized the apartment had not been properly cleaned, there were hairs all around the apartment, the "outside area" that they advertised was completely covered in algae (so much so I nearly slipped & fell) and the cherry on top - bed bugs! I contacted Uniplaces within the first 24 hours & was told the complaints I had did not entitle me to cancel my stay & receive my money back. If bed bugs are not enough reason for compensation, I don´t want to imagine what they do consider valid. Avoid them at all costs if you value your health & your money. They refuse to take responsibility & they don´t have any regard for their customers.

I really warn you from booking through this platform, I had the worst experience of my life because I was scammed by a trusted and verified owner. They only protect the owners and not the tenants. They do not even let you contact the owner before. When the owner accepts you the website takes 90 euros and then makes you in contact. Do NOT USE IT AT ALL!
Hello Rohaifa,
Thank you for reaching out to us about this matter. We are sorry to hear about this experience.
We have identified your case and as we explained you through our communications, we can mediate a situation, but not ensure the expected outcome.
We have provided our service and mediate the situation, but once that you couldn't move-in on the booked dates, we can't ensure that the booking can continue active.
If you have any other questions related to this situation, we recommend that you contact us through the our platform.
Please bear in mind that Uniplaces tries hard to satisfy all your needs, but it is necessary that all information stated in our platform be consulted by our tenants before completing a booking, otherwise we cannot guarantee this.
Kind regards,
The Uniplaces Team
I dont know how to express my sadness and disapointment about the place I booked through uniplaces. When booking on uniplaces there is sometimes stated trusted landlord and apparently the place I booked was a trusted place. There were verified pictures and videos, ect. But when I moved in the place had 4 beds in one room nstead of 2 and did not resemble the pictures at all. Here are the events that followed with a 'trusted landlord' and a 'verified' place on uniplaces.
One day before moving in Gunjan Gaurav phoned me up to meet at a metro station with 500 euros of deposit. Stupidly I met him there and got the keys from him without having seen the place. The next day when moving in I saw that the place did not at all match the descriptions. I phoned Gunjan and he said that I did not have to contact uniplaces as I would be able to get my deposit back from him and I would be allowed to stay for 10 days till I found a new place. I said that I was going to contact uniplaces but he said I would not be able to get anything back as the 24 hour period had already passed, and that when contacting Uniplaces the 500 would be gone too. I left several days ago, but yesterday we were going to meet up to exchange the keys for the down payment. Again at Lodi metro station. When giving back the keys he made me sign a paper that I moved out and straight after he snatched the keys out of my hands and ran. I phoned the poliece straight afterwards. From roommates I heard already 3 previous tennants experianced the same problems. I dont know how such a place could have been rented to me. I'm increadibally disappointed in uniplaces. When booking on uniplaces 'verified' means nothing at all.
Dear David,
We are very sorry to hear about this experience, thank you for contacting us.
We identified your case and were able to verify that your complaint was filed after the security period announced on our platform, which limited our power of action, as we informed you.
In this case we tried our best to help you by doing everything we could to mediate the refund of your security deposit, however this is something that depends on the relationship between you and the Hosting Provider.
We appreciate your understanding and remain at your disposal.
Sincerely,
Your Uniplaces team
Terrible experience they will not assist you in any way, the tenant did not pay and disappeared, I saw no money and they won't help you

Uniplaces is TERRIBLE, I rented a room in Valencia through Uniplaces for 6 months. After 2 months I was told by the landlady I have to move out because she sold the flat. Uniplaces said they can't do anything about it as they don't own the flats, they are just a search engine, yet they charged me a huge commission for booking the flat through them and didn't even want to refund it. Avoid Uniplaces if you don't want to get KICKED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEMESTER when it is impossible to find another accommodation.
Hello Petra,
Thank you for your review. It's unfortunate that you feel your experience could have been better.
It is important to keep in mind that Uniplaces is an online marketplace and we do our best to mediate and offer assistance in these kinds of events. We understand that they are not pleasant for any of the parts involved.
Precisely because of this, you were offered a refund of our service fee and a discount on your next booking, with help in relocating. We hope you can understand that, as far as compensation and support goes, this was the best solution we could provide.
Thank you for your understanding. We remain available for any clarification you may need.
Kind regards,
The Uniplaces Team
FALSE PROPAGANDA!
Total disrespect with the students!
I was misled with an advertisement from them and ask the refund or a solution for the problem they simply didn't care at all! Even if their propaganda say they are super safe and can redound when you have problems with the accommodations! Total false propaganda! Simply awful! Doesn't seem like the owners used to be students, total garbage! Never use this platform!
Hello Leticia,

We have identified your case and, as we explain through our communications, before making a booking request, it is important that our users verify that the offer actually corresponds to what they are looking for.
We have several details on our offers, including a map that shows the location of the property. There was no misleading information on the listing page.
Remember that Uniplaces strives to meet all your needs, but it is necessary that all information displayed on our platform is consulted in advance by our users before completing a booking.
If you have any other questions related to this situation, we recommend that you contact us through our platform.
Kind regards,
Your Uniplaces Team
I rented the room in the picture for "300 euros" for one month.
What they really charge you for in the end is:
Room: 300 euros
Deposit: 350 euros (they did not give me the deposit back since I only stayed 2 weeks and not the whole month, although I payed the whole month, I know it doesn't make sense).
One month fine: 150 euros (Since I only rented for one month and not three, they fined me)
Half month fine: 175 euros (Since I rented the room from the 16th to the 15th, and not from the 1st to the 30th I got fined)
Admin cost: 50 euros (Although you make the whole booking online)
Cleaning Fee: 75 euros (Although you see in the picture "all bills included")
Total: 1,100
Plus, I rented a room with a private bathroom which was not the case and wifi that never worked. (Reasons why I took off early)
Yes people, they are scammers
Dear Pablo,
Thank you for bringing this matter to us.
We are sorry to hear that you did not have the expected experience with our service. We were not able to find any previous communication from you on our system other than the email that you sent on December 12th, so we were not aware of any of the problems you presented.
We understand this might be an unpleasant situation for you. However, regarding the payments, please note that you were informed before submitting the booking request that you would have to pay for one more fortnight of December given your chosen dates, as well as the admin fee, the security deposit and our Service Fee.
As for the one month fine you are mentioning, we also did not receive any communication from you regarding this matter during our contacts.
After our mediation, your accommodation provider agreed to refund you the cleaning fee that you paid, however, as you made an early departure, our accommodation providers have the right to keep the security deposit to cover for any additional costs, and we received no further communication from you after the last email we sent.
We are open to give you any clarifications if still needed, and we remain at your disposal should you require assistance with any other matter.
Thank you for your feedback.
Best regards,
Your Uniplaces Team.
Answer: Do not do business with them. They will keep your money
Answer: I do not recommend it. They took 512.00 from me and I could not cjeck in. Uniplaces kept my money and gave mw no credit. Unacceptable Custumer Service, if you come from USA like me. Unethical.
Answer: Hi Nizar, Thank you for contacting us. We can see that one of our colleagues have contacted you on October 5th. Did you received our email? Please make sure you also check your Spam folder.
