My ultrasabers review.
Why did I choose ultrasabers?
I was recently asked to play a Jedi master in an upcoming starwars fan film 'Imperial Hunt' by Nathan Broderick of Donegal Film Productions in Ireland. In the midst of my immersion into the realm of the force, I developed an itch to build my own lightsaber and being a perfectionist with limited means to manifest anything I desire I realised it would cost me about €160 -260 to build one within my means (time/deadllines/cash). I looked at every saber manufacturer I could find online, in europe, asia and america, including diy saber builders on youtube and I came to the conclusion that no matter what I built within my means, it wouldn't satisfy me and thus decided to purchase one...but from where? The night of December 21st after I had just come to peace with the realisation that it would be far less stressful for me to buy a saber than to build one I decided to look on the internet one more time before sleep and immediately came across ultrasabers. I was quite surprised at the dramatic difference in price between them and the many other saber producers throughout the world. I knew my budget - which was a great help (up to €260).
I chose the 'Prophesy V3 with obsidian v4 sound in Consular Green with ultra edge midgrade blade'
Why did I choose this saber?
I liked the design of the hilt: There's darkness in every reality where weapons exist but I prefer the spirituality of the light side of the force.
Why Consular Green? (my next choice will be blue) All I can say is that I was drawn to it - I found out after it arrived that the films producer envisioned my character's saber as green.
And completely nothing to do with star wars, the other night I put it under my sofa and turned the lights off and there was something so familiar about the green light being cast throughout the room - the scene from Jonathan Kents barn when the green crystal from Krypton first calls out to Kal-El...I was so chuffed (a light saber and supermans green crystal)
Why obsidian v4 sound? I looked at youtube video reviews of both obsidian lite and premium and while lite would have sufficed for my needs, I recognised that from a film editors point of view, it would be better if the lightsaber could be lit without sound and seeing that it was my intention to purchase this saber for myself (a unique item to have in ones cutlery drawer - where I store it) after the film has wrapped I figured it would be better to get one with sound and better yet to get one where the sound can be turned off and with the obsidian v4 one of the sound fonts to choose from is 'silent'.
I opted for the covertec wheel and clip - better to have the option to hang the hilt from a belt.
I chose the ultra edge midgrade blade as per one of Emory's recommendations, for dueling, it's perfectly suitable and radiates the light better than the heavy grade.
Speed of delivery - I was stunned at the speed. I ordered it at 23:53 21st December and it arrived in Dublin, Ireland at 12:00 midday on 29th December.
Cost?
Less the 10% christmas discount and including shipping it came to $275.93 (€237.60)

How do I rate this very unique item?
Well there's a popular saying in Ireland 'you pay peanuts, you get monkeys'.
This does not apply to ultrasabers if anything it brings to mind the question 'why are other saber producers sooo much more expensive'.?
Every friend who has seen or held this saber has either drooled, quivered or gasped, 'that is the sexiest lightsaber I've ever seen' or 'that is sooo cool'...followed shortly by 'I want one' or 'can you take a selfie of me holding it' and when I let them hear the sound it makes it changes to 'never mind the selfie...take a video of me'.
Power.
It's powered by two Li-ion rechargeable batteries and on test the results for constant on without sound was 70minutes and constant on with sound was 56minutes.
I've since ordered the mystery box as this item is too unique to be on it's own, one is not enough. Seeing two grown men wielding lightsabers is a greater visual spectacle than seeing one guy on his own.

My only surprise with this saber is the amount of aluminium residue that gets onto my hands whenever I duel or practice with it - I wonder if it would be cost effectively possible to have them sealed in some kind of protective coating? And also the fact that the led is not secured, (it rattles about in it's position) - I did read a customer suggestion that it would be great if it we're secured, even if a screw we're put through the hilt.
And to end...it would be so cool if the sound could be connected via bluetooth to a bluetooth speaker - that would be so so so awesome.
Great product, great price and great interest on the part of ultrsabers in their products, their customers and the lightsaber community. Kudos to ultrasabers.
It is the oddest thing that I possess and it will remain so - it makes for a great lamp and an eye catching torch when you go out to your car or shed to look for something.

I received stunt Dark Apprentice LE v4 Blazing Red stunt saber in my Mystery Box. I'm disappointed in how cunning this site is with what they place worth on. Wasn't thrilled about how they said you'd get a saber worth $75 or more. The hilt I received was $64.99. The mystery box blade comes standard at 36"; but what they didn't say is the 36" blade worth ~$15 if you start with a basic stunt saber). Deceiving marketing. It was "meh" of a product so I will only be recommending it to others that can't afford a really nice saber. Also Shipping was extremely slow, received it almost a month after I ordered it.

That aside the saber was built for this price range with a basic switch and 3AAA battery pack. Simple design features and still lights up like a lightsaber. I like the brilliant and brightness color is gives off. I will however say that this experience has led me to other avenues in building my own lightsaber with better inner components.

Ok ok so the saber Is obviously a 10/10 but what I wanted to talk about was the customer service. A day after I received my saber I mused have damaged the battery pack by shaking it out of the hilt (to take it out and add custom fonts). Anywho, I sent texted there email since that is the fastest way to contact them and got a response the same day! They helped me ship it out but i forgot to add one very important thing to the mail but they still managed to find me and get my saber back to me fixed! 5 stars! The customer service is excellent.
