Some of the best first line service Ive received. Phil (Guildford Manager) was exceptionally helpful following a troubled bitcoin transaction. Definitely recommend. Thanks

Rip off merchants
January 17, 2018

Bought a phone on the 26th of January 2017 from the Sauchiehall street branch. I had it a week and realised that it was not connecting to a network automatically and I had to manually reconnect to my network. This was no good to me so I bought another phone. I took the phone back to the shop today 17/1/2018 and was told that they would test the phone and could I come back into the store 2 hours later. I went back to the store and was informed that despite them not being able to loose a signal and test what I said was the problem on the phone and that the phone was working fine. I had a verbal exchange with the manageress who instead of listening to reason stated that as she could not lose a signal despite trying 3 different sim cards that the phone was fine and became very aggressive and started swearing and offering me £60 in vouchers instead of £60 in cash which was how I originally paid. The phone was within the 30 day cash back policy and it was faulty so any reasonable person should and would have expected their cash back. What kind of business cannot diagnose a fault, tell you that they cannot diagnose a fault and still deny you your rights? I asked to speak to someone above this very angry young upstart but she point blank refused. I would advise that anyone thinking of buying a phone from this company to really think long and hard about doing it as you will probably end up with a phone that does not work properly and out of pocket!

Dont not use CEX
January 7, 2018

This is my update review Manan patel

This is my update review. Cex customer service sent me a email to confirm the item was sent however they dont have the tracking number on record. Since then Ive sent 4 emails asking for a refund as Id rather pay twice as much and buy the item from another company that knows how to conduct business within the guide lines from the consumer act. As I havent had any response from them or item Ive had to escalate the matter to PayPal who have been a great help for me and now they are also trying to contact CEX. Once my money is recovered I intended to post ALL of this tromatic and stressful process on all of my social medias in which I have over 1.3 million followers and on my YouTube channel in which I have 2 million subscribers in the hope that everyone considering using this company are aware of how badly they will be treated. Do not be fooled by the replys of these emails on other peoples complaints they are generic answers they give to ALL customers who are unhappy.

DO NOT Spend your money at CEX do not get the hopes up of your children like I did buying a item from them.

Terrible
December 16, 2017

They say they give the best prices to their customers but it is simply a lie, They would buy games off of people for around £3 and then sell the game for about £20, they're ridiculous and think every person that enters their store are stupid. Also they're completely overpriced retro consoles are becoming more expensive yes, but an unboxed SNES system is not £60+ at most they're worth £40, but they would only give you £15 if you trade one in.

I bought 2 items online both were listed grade A which according the (almost hidden) grading section on their website means "mint". Neither were mint by a long shot. The first one I returned to my local store where the staff said it was more like grade B and also confirmed it had fault. The second one was also more like grade B and also shipped with grubby accessories that would have taken minutes to clean. I returned this, too, to my local store and was surprised to see the previous one I returned in their window as grade A!
I had no trouble at all getting refunds and maybe that is because they know another sucker will buy that item soon and hopefully not notice the fault or return it. The stores are very thorough when assessing an item to buy - they do not deem anything less than perfect as grade A. However, there are many complaints of customers receiving grade A items which are anything but perfect. Very odd...
The online customer service is useless, too. I'm guessing it's based in India, staffed by people who have excellent written english but who have never even been to one of the stores. They write polite but generic replies which rarely refer to the specifics of the case but just apologise and recommend you return the item.
I wouldn't recommend buying any item online from CEX where condition is a major factor. Actually I wouldn't buy anything from them at all.

I'm sure the waiting game is so people die of old age before getting a reply.

I've been sen damaged goods and incomplete goods. I've returned them to the store instead of posting them back and lo and behold they appear for sale again both online and in store.

Customer service doesn't care, they will do everything they possibly can to make sure you keep hold of the rubbish you are sold so they can keep your money.

Just think the next time you buy something that doesn't work it may have already been returned several times.

The worst company out there, do yourself a favour, don't ever use them

AWFUL, TREATED LIKE DIRT
October 26, 2017

CEX is by far one of the worst companies i have ever purchased a product from. Amongst the awful customer service team, there is also the awful staff in stores. I bought an iphone 6s from them and was promised a warranty that COVERED accidental damage. To my distain the screen starts to bend and come away from the display on the mobile phone as they sold me a phone with non "Apple genuine" parts. They fobbed me off and told me the screen was coming away because i DROPPED IT. So not only did they deal with my complaint with the worst care ever, they also accused me of dropping my phone, i am very good with phones so knew this wasnt a fault of my own. I then went to apple and they gave me a report that sated that next to none of the parts in my IPHONE were real iphone parts. This means i was lied to about my warranty and i was sold false products. They make you pay full price for a second hand BRANDED product that next to no real parts in it. They treated me like dirt and the staff in the store were rude and lied to my face as well as multiple people i asked to go in and question. They really need to train staff on customer service and what their policies are because i don't even think they know themselves.

My phone hasn't worked properly since I bought it I took it back to the shop in Braintree after one week they said it was strange that the screen would not stay off. This was causing the battery to not last a full day. I thought they would replace the phone but they told me they would send it away and it could take a week to four weeks to repair. This I found unbelievably bad for the reason I had only had it a week and it had not worked properly from the day I bought it.

Avoid at all cost
September 15, 2017

Truly cannot understand how this business continues to function.
Called at a store in Leigh Lancashire today with the complete James Bond series in a metal presentation box set, all flawless DVD's watched once. Purchased for me as a gift for over £100.
I was completely stumped when the store offered me £4.
That equated to 20 pence per DVD.
I have since researched on line and the same product is selling on both Amazon and eBay for between £40 and £75.
Do yourselves a favour and sell your goods privately.

Terrible experience
September 5, 2017

Went in with my PS3 told it was worth £39. The PS3 worked perfectly. They ran a test which took 1 hour only to be told that it was "faulty" as it wouldn't accept any discs. I took the PS3 home and it works perfectly fine probably to ignorant to realise they were using a faulty disc of there own to rest it with!

A rip off.
September 4, 2017

Absolutely terrible. The store is filthy with incompetent staff. Don't touch it with a barge poll. Went in with my son and his ps3 with two controllers. They happily took the better controller and sent us home to get the missing usb cable. Fair enough... until we returned only to be told the ps3 which was worth roughly £50 was un tradable as the controller they had sent us away with was faulty. Why weren't we told this the day before? Really bad customer service in my opinion and very dishonest.

Brought a phone from them that they stated as mint but not so phone was broken so back cover would not clip to it, also faulty battery swollen through age and to top it all locked out so all pretty useless really, still waiting on refund. I doubt if this phone was inspected at any length before distribution. Please don't buy phone from them you would be better off using a homing pigeon with a message on its leg to communicate with your mates.

I have read some really great reviews

I have read some really great reviews on here regarding CEX and I know some of their staff are excellent also but my experience has been abysmal!

All I wanted to do was to buy a certain lens from a particular branch, there were only 2 items of this kind in the UK so how hard could this have been to arrange via online.

I have in the past ordered a lens from CEX and it arrived faulty and un-boxed (nothing mentioned in the description what so ever) so once bitten twice shy as they say. So in future unless it was a boxed item I was not interested.

So I sent 4 emails initially via the CEX online Support portal to which I received absolutely no reply, so ever the optimist I decided to place the order hoping that my emails had been noted and that when the order was placed they would choose the correct lens from the correct store.

But, this is where I assumed incorrectly as the then told me that they were going to send me the lens from the incorrect store at which point I asked surely you could just change the store from which it has been sent seeing as there is only 2 in the whole country, the response after nearly 2 hours was no I basically had to have that one, amazing that no longer does the buyer of an item have the right to chose which product he receives even after he has paid!

So, to cut an already rather long story short at this point in time I have no lens, no money, and no responses to my emails letting me know whats happening to my refund or anything?

All I wanted to do was buy a lens... simple really but with CEX apparently not!

EXTREMELY UNIMPRESSED BUYERS PLEASE BEWARE!

I have uploaded an E-mail to show you how they justify getting away with this. Basically I was having a quick look through CEX's electrical goods when I spotted a Pokémon Go plus device Being sold for £44.50 second hand when you can pick one of these up on Amazon Brand new for £39.60. CEX is an absolute RIP I'm still trying to find something to buy with a £35 voucher I was given after I had been told a specific graphics card would fit my P. C and it didn't, likewise with the ram I was told to buy. Never once had a reply from CEX I just think that they are Con men in sheep's clothing.

I ordered a handful of anime dvds using there online website. 1 out of 7 turned up in acceptable condition... A good majority had replacement cases with fake covers attached which looked like they had been printed on an early 2000's inkjet printer. Disc was authentic, everything else wasn't. One dvd turned up with the disc holder completely broken, disc rattling about inside, severely scratched the front cover plastered in sticker residue from many failed attempts to peel the previous price tags off ASWELL as the dvd cover being inside out for some reason?

Gutted.
May 16, 2017

Have just been completely mugged off by CEX.

I bought an Alcatel flip phone in the Brighton store for £18. But when I realised I bought the wrong phone, (was actually intending to buy one with a camera attached to it) I went to the Worthing store, expecting to return the phone or even exchange it for the correct mobile.

I was then told that CEX do not allow items to be returned unless they are faulty, even though this item was untouched, still in the packaging, receipt included, charger still wrapped up.

& even though their online Terms & Conditions state that items can be returned within 14 days, I had to sell the phone back to the store for £10 less than I had bought it for 3 days earlier.

It's so disappointing as I have been a big time CEX fan for many years and am always recommending to friends and family.
