I made reservations early for a 4×8 Trailer to haul some needed items to Florida from Michigan. I rented a nice Storage Unit in Lakeland and my brother would meet me to unload.When I went to pick it up on Wednesday morning, I was told the U-Haul Computer System was down and I couldn't have the trailer. What? Your kidding. Get out the forms, let me sign and I'll be on my way. Nope. No way. Not even a sorry. After calls to everyone, not a shred of decency from anyone. What a horrible way to run a company.
I rented a truck then they said they only had a van. When I go to the place to pick up the van they said I can't get it because the system is down. They didn't tell me that when we spoke over the phone about changing the truck to then van. I drove 1 hour and was stuck in traffic, planned everything out for them to tell me last minute I can't get the van. A complete waste of my time.
My young adult kids rented a trailer in Fayetteville. Disappointed the rental agency didn't think to ask if their SUV had adequate towing capacity (spoiler- it did not). After I made them return the trailer and get a truck, we headed out for Texas. When the truck started having issues on day 3,5 hours from our destination, I found the UHaul roadside assistance to be fantastic- the call center personnel was great, our tow truck driver was fantastic and the Storage/rental facility in Fort Worth stayed open late for us to get the truck unloaded into storage. Bummer the truck broke but so pleased with how the situation was handled.
Reserved a truck over a month before the rental date. The day before pickup, we get a call that there's no vehicles for us. Closest one was almost an hour away. We had no choice but to take it. Zero help from the dealer, no help with gas, even though it was 30 miles out of our way.
Reserved a u-haul to go from Abingdon Va. To Centreville Va.after going to 3 different U-hauls that morning I finally got a truck in Bristol Tn. They had it being return at Fairlawn Va 3.5 hours away near Radford. After finally getting that straighten out and returning it to Chantilly they then turn around and charge us 300 more for extra miles. Looks like bait and switch tactics to me I'll will never use U-haul again and I suggest you never use them either.
They forged my signature for extra charges on fuel even though I returned the gas on the fuel gauge how I received it.

Disappointed how the clerk handled a situation. Yelling at me as I'm standing in line. Very unprofessional. Then I had to go back in and she's talking bad about me to her coworker. Again, unprofessional and immature. Customer is always right. And you shouldn't be yelling across the store
I called a day prior to my reserved pickup to ensure my requested tools would be available, specifically, a furniture and appliance dolly. Once I arrived to pickup the truck and dollies, they had given away the last furniture and appliance dollies--none were available! I really needed these two dollies, and it really messed up my moving day because we did NOT have the reserved tools we really needed, and moving was very difficult because of this mishap. And to top it off, the clerk handling our check-in was unsympathetic, not offering any excuses, apologies, no sympathy to this plight whatsoever. I will never, ever go to another UHaul for moving services and equipment again, especially not the one in Pico Rivera, CA. The check-out process was nice, by the way, as all I had to do is give the clerk the key and walk away. But I will still never, ever go to another UHaul for any reason again.
On their emails- texts- website it says that if the store does not have the equipment uhaul will get the equipment to the store for you in preparation for your pickup. Well that was not true. We spent time that we did not have calling other stores, calling corporate and no one could locate us the furniture pads we had reserved. It was almost hilarious how incompetent people were. The man at the store gave me other stores numbers to call. Like how is there not a database with equipment? With no help there I was transferred to corporate and they were like "oh we will take them off your bill" and I was like "no I need them I don't want them taken off." Eventually I gave up and just never got them. On my account on uhaul.com I contacted them to make sure that the costs were taken off my bill and then weren't but they promised they were now. Guess what? At our destination when I paid guess what was not taken off our bill? It is just a mess. No communication across dealers and stores and corporate. You talk to one person and nothing is resolved. The whole experience made me so mad! I had to call corporate again and dispute the charge and ask for a refund because they made me pay for it in the store EVEN THOUGH I NEVER GOT THEM! Even after all the times they said they were taking them off my bill. At least at the end they were able to give me a refund. But my goodness, SUCKY customer service
I reserved a uhaul truck in Northern Maine (Presque Isle) to clean out my father's house who had recently passed away. I was told when I arrived in town that the closest uhaul available to me was 109 miles away. I called the uhaul dealer 109 miles away and was assured that if I made the trip I would have a 15' or 26' truck avail. I arrived and was told they were not available even though I could see them in the lot.
I went into the Vernon Odom store 4/05/2023 to inquire about renting a truck, was told that I would receive a link on 4/06/2023 and would be able to pick the truck up at 5:30 am on 4/06/2023. Well today is the day. This was an urgent matter. I never received the link and drove to the office hoping to receive the link or some kind assistance. Nothing at all was received. Is this supposed to be good customer service? I needed to rent this truck for a very urgent matter. Uhaul has really dropped the ball on customer service. Uhaul, you must do better.
I was having a very rough trip, after two trucks not working I called him and he took my call and helped me. He actually took a minute two listen to what I was going through, find out where I was, and then he made sure I was completely reimbursed for everything. My uhual experience was poor at first but then once I mentioned that I had talked to him everyone started being so much more respectful and helpful. I also talked to the general manager of where I live in California and she was lovely as well! Anyway, I gained a lot of respect for the owner of uhual through this experience even though at first it was chaotic. Thank you joe
If u haul had a negative number scale I would give them a neg 10 rating. First of all the price they gave me on the phone was way lower than it was at pickup due to "hidden taxes and insurance and environmental service" charges. Ok I gave them the address where I was going to. They emailed me a pickup location and drop off location. Everything went smoothly with the exception of the extra charges until I check my bank account and see where they charged me an extra separate charge of $18.62 for going over my mileage. How is that I asked bc I picked up the truck where they told me to and went exactly where I told them I was going and then immediately returned their truck to where they told to. No more or no less. They stated when I called customer service that I should have read my contract and seen where I had a 30 mile limit. I stated that no y'all should have known how far I was going bc I had to give the address I was going and rented me the equipment I needed for that price. The customer service representative was very rude and hung up the phone on me. She would not let me state my complaint bc she kept talking over me as if I was dumb. I will carry every piece of furniture or whatever I am moving the next time I need a moving truck before I rent anything from u haul ever again. They suck! I hope this helps.
Rented the trailer from Dunmore which was great. Agent told me to drop off in Swift Current prior and it indicated Swift Current on the app. What the company forgot to tell me was that u-haul location in Swift Current had just closed. 5 agents later (transferred from one department to the next) I finally found someone that could help me by adding the Swift Current location to the app so that I could return the trailer. U-Haul is a departmentalized company that is poorly equipped to deal with customer concerns. Ended up being overcharged for the trailer, but just left it at that as I would have had to be transferred to another department to dispute the charge. Avoid this company!
Rented a trailer from here and was charged more then 5 times over from what the original price was because I brought it 2.5 hours past the due time, even though I called 2 hours in advance to let them know that I had issues with my truck. I was told it will be an additional $40.99 for additional 3 hours which didn't make sense since it's the same price for 24 hours and we had it for only 21 hours in total, instead I was charged $340.98. When I called the customer service again they kept putting me on hold and transferring me until we got disconnected. I'm not normally the one to complain, but that is completely unacceptable.
I rented a truck and trailer to bring my vehicle and stuff to my home. After bringing my things, I had to return to pickup my other vehicle. I brought the truck and trailer back to the rental place and they charged me an extra fee for long distance. My bill went from around $400 to $1000. They are very secret with fees and unclear with their charges. I advised them I will never use them again and will advise others. They told me that they would work with me and allow me to pay in installments. When I looked at the charges on my card, they had charged the whole thing. I was left in a bind trying to get home and pay for other costs associated with the move. DO NOT USE U-HAUL! Rent a truck from Lowe's or Home Depot, they are much cheaper and won't drain your funds. I will never use them again.
Never rent there it is the worst place ever. The service is bad, they do reservatio but one day or one week before they cancel it or tell you to go pick it up far away...
I rented a trailer from U-Haul halfway into my trip. The bearings locked up on the tire and left me stranded on the side of the road called U-Haul roadside assistance would not call back. Had to keep calling for almost 4 1/2 hours had to call my own tow truck to get my vehicle and their trailer off the highway will never ever use U-Haul again worst experience ever with a rental company

What bull$#*! is Uhaul running. I got a call from customer last night just as I get my foot in the door home from work, telling me that he has a Uhaul truck booked. I told him that I close at 4pm. I told him that I checked before I left and saw no rentals. He is desperate and needs a truck, so I drove 30 mins to work because knowing how Uhaul operates, they could have dumped a reservation at my location. They told him to pick up the truck at my location. I have one truck available, but he wants it for 7 days. But Uhaul won't let him have it for 7 days. It's a $#*!in rental, what difference does it make if it's rented on a daily bases for 7 days or for a week. I then find out that the reservation was made at a location an hour out of the city. The guy is not happy, usual response from U haul customers, he has a reservation number and no truck. I spoke to someone at Uhaul and they let him know that there is a truck available in the other part of the city. He had to take a cab to my location, now he has to take another cab that would have cost him $80 to get the truck. Apparently he is not able to get a truck around another location on my way home so that I could drop him off, I know for a fact that there were numerous locations available but now they were all closed. So I took pity on this poor guy and offered to drive him to get his truck, not something |I will do regularly, I guarantee that. Knowing that it was not his fault that Uhaul left him high and dry. When it comes to extremely unacceptable bad customer service Uhaul gets a 5 star review.

Answer: Scammy. Just try leaving a negative review for uhaul itself (not the little mom n pop pickup/dropouts the big company responsible for the bull)...it's impossible
Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
