U-Haul is awful to deal with. Not even 24hrs before a scheduled pickup they change the pickup place to 100 miles away! I call to see if there will be a price adjustment since we have to drive that far away and they say no because it's in the fine print that they have up to 300 miles that they can send you for the truck you want. Never again will I use U-Haul and I will never recommend them.
On 16th January 2023 we rented for office moving and returned to live agent in store on 17th January. I am surprised when I got email notification for parking citation charged on 18th Jan 2023@ 12:55 PM. We should not liable after returned the truck, but they charged. When I talked to local store manager and corporate office they can't give proper answer. So looks like it is a cheater company. They made money to cheat customers. Their money is not halal ( legal).
U-Haul used to be good, rentals are easy and quick pick up. Recently they are trying so hard to catch up with the times, and is doing check in and pick up online. The online system is so slow and stupid it took 40 mins to "approve" my rental. I canceled it in the end coz I'll never want to rent from U-Haul ever again. And you too, don't waste your precious time at this $#*! hole.
Pricing & pick up on line MISERABLE ~ I had the truck for maybe an hour 1/2 maybe 12 miles from storage to new apartment to drop if that. I just don't understand why so expensive. When advertising is $19.99 can someone explain what exactly that means because it's not what your paying i understand if I had a truck for the entire day but seriously I always let people know about where you should go to or use something but I would NEVER say to rent a truck from U-haul. It ask for proof of purchase but upload button would not work
Worst customer service ever no need to reserve truck because the day before you are to pickup they call and say they don't have one. You can drive a couple hours to get one is there response
1 hour before my schedule 1-way truck rental, Uhaul downsized the truck to force me to haul a trailer or reschedule as a 2-way. Downsize wasn't an option because Uhaul underestimates how much you can fit in a truck.
Uhaul preys on those who trust them enough to book and just as you're unable to make alternate plans they jack around causing unnecessary additional stress and expense.
Who needs that type of BS when they're moving?
Do not trust and if you decide to use anyway, make sure you have contingencies in your plan to ensure you're not going to be taken advantage of.
Brakes stop working people could have been serious injured or worse this could have been your loved one's gone forever with no care from Uhaul. Suck on the road for going on 6 hours now with no help of course. Not to mention 3 kids under ages 8 also 3 dogs as well. Now they are telling me I need to pay a tow truck company that will cost me over 5k Uhaul told me they will only tow me 130 miles then you will have to figure out what to do from there wow 12:45 at night now then what selp in a parking lot. Lost for words then I've already paid $1300.00 for the rental. Not very happy
Very disappointed in UHAUL. I made a reservation for a 15' truck a week and a half ago to be picked up in my rural town. They called this morning to tell me they could not honor my reservation at the pick up point or with truck size. The truck would be now a 26' (at least that was the same price), however pick up was 2 HOURS AWAY from my home, so I would have to make a 4 hour drive to move and then drive right back by the pick up location again to my new home.
This is completely unprofessional of UHAUL to allow PAID RESERVATIONS to not BE HONORED. People have to put a lot of plans and people in place to move and to get a two day notice of NO TRUCK is not ok. I am giving them a zero rating if I could, but it made me pick one star.
Also, this is not the fault of any local dealer. Stop doing this to people.
We booked our reservation four weeks in advance to pick up the trucks that were not at the locations specified.
Customer service told us that it was our responsibility to download the app and use the self Serve in order Is to order trucks.
Picked up the truck with no fuel in it put fuel in it. When we brought it back they made us fill it up even more.
It took us over three hours to get the trucks in the beginning which set our move back.
It took us an hour and a 1/2 just to drop it off with issues. We cleaned out the truck inside and out.
Plain and simple, I will never use them again. I reserved a moving truck about 2 weeks in advance of my move. I was contacted two times prior to my move by U-Haul to make changes in my reservation because of problems on their side. The morning I arrive to pick up my truck I find out that they do not have a truck ready for me as promised and no one ever called me to tell me. So I call them and get the runaround again. No solution given and they wanted me to drive over an hour away to get a truck that was smaller than what I needed. Not what I needed on the morning of my scheduled move, very unprofessional.
This company stays in business from one & dones. Awful-lies, not just a little nothing they say is the truth. Wild goose chase for trailer. We wasted a ton of money and time
Remember when U-Haul was the standard for moving trucks and supplies? When we said "U-Haul" like we said "Kleenex" when we meant facial tissue? Well, IMO, they have ridden those laurels into the ground, abandoned customer service and just hope no one notices.
I have long ago given up that they will have the truck I need at the time I need it and have moved all my truck business to Penske. But I still imagined they were good at selling moving supplies.
Oops. After going to a couple franchises unable to find the supplies I needed, I went to the big boys on Alta Mere (ft worth, tx). "Nope. Don't have them." "Can you tell me who does have them?" (Priceless response) "Well all of them should have them." I pointed out that HE "should" have them so that's useless advice. He agreed and I walked.
OBTW, ya know how they say "Buy all the boxes you want; we will buy them back." Turns out that without a receipt they don't! Who saves receipts for boxes in the middle of a move? They say "U-Haul" all over them. They are in the original packaging. Where else might I have gotten them?
Alta Mere said they'd take them for a store credit but Alta Mere doesn't have stuff I need. Hulen, I suspect since they DID have what I needed" said no ticky no laundry. And were quite rude that I even asked.
Summary, I'm done with U-Haul. I'll rent Penske trucks and get supplies from U-line and watch for the bankruptcy filing. Sears, Kmart, the USSR...ya treat folks badly enough, they leave.
No stars, I made a reservation for a size 15 truck, when I went to pick it up there was only a size 10 truck, I called customer service, I spoke to more than 5 people and nobody solved anything, I kept my furniture on the street, why not there was no truck available. I need my money back.
My name is Lajuana Okisha Randolph and I had just finished my last cancer treatment n treated myself to most beautiful bedroom set that I ended up putting in uhaul storage unit along with my son new bed and and other very expensive things only to have them stolen out of my unit when my unit went past due I'm devastated over what was done to me and my child no one should have to go through something like this ever
Coordinating a move is incredibly challenging and I carefully chose a pickup and drop off location for a reason, giving Uhaul plenty of time to prepare. Uhaul promised to have one available at my chosen location for me to pickup. Uhaul changed my reservation without my consent on the day before scheduled pickup. Uhaul is an incredible disappointment. They also won't allow you to review your experience with them if your reservation is cancelled. Even if THEY cancelled it.
Returned my truck rental in Norfolk, VA this morning and was charged a $20 after hours fee when, in fact, I handed my keys to a gentleman. When I called about the fee, was told by a lady that said when she got the keys she thought the truck was turned in last night. She then proceeded to input my credit card information manually into their system and charged me $20. I told them I wanted my refund immediately as they took the money fraudulently. Was told I should have it within 72 hours. This is not acceptable as this was done without my knowledge and didn't find out until I noticed the charge on my credit card and then when I finally received my return receipt.
Have checked online for the last 2hrs at every U-Haul within 15 miles of my house and keep getting sent down dead ends. All I wanted was a pickup truck for 1 day and the only stores that have them available aren't open the day I need and all the stores that are open don't actually have a pickup available. Whatever U-Haul we're done waisting time on you.
Made the appointment 5 days in advance. Still did not have the truck I ordered and sent me a town over to get one and they were not open. Had to cancel the whole order because it won't fit my schedule. Wasted gas and 3 hours of the day trying to get straightened out.

Real hater in the in the name of Jesus. Witch hunts, etc. not for for the family renter! Glorie has lied every time that she opened her mouth around customers for the the last two years. Door maintenance, bathroom maintenance, sewage backing up,,upper units inaccessible due to managegement removing ladders that they refuse to maintain, say they have tech they dont. Naills hold up the doors opf this ancient building.impune your honour,?hire people who lie about your presence...?and otherwise fail to maintain the sewage and soap in the restrooms check it now if you doubt me. Failure to be able to replace a simple soap dispenser despit multiple complaints by employees. Its the truth. Continuous lying about repalacing access ladder over a period of twelve months. This buisiness has ruputedly been trashed by the up and coming marriage of its "owner" to its "owner" and you would be be best not to trust uhaul based on my two year experience with these personality disadvantaged business persons. Want disappointment? Go there.real southern trash.
My experience with this Uhaul was horrible.
Terrible customer service which included a snow-covered vehicle that they couldn't be bothered to clean off, a truck with a tire that was low on air that I had to fill, and missing moving products that I paid extra for. On top of all this, I returned the truck a day early and they still charged me as If I rented the vehicle for the full term. This company is a clear example of one that is operating off of name recognition and nothing else. This particular location is full of derelicts and deplorables. Do not go there! They suck!

Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
