Uber Reviews Summary

Uber's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from a perceived lack of reliable customer service and transparency in pricing. Many customers express frustration over unexpected charges, inadequate support during issues, and poor communication from drivers and the company itself. Positive feedback is scarce, with some drivers noting satisfactory earnings and enjoyable interactions with passengers. However, the overwhelming sentiment highlights a need for improved customer care and accountability, as many users report feeling abandoned and undervalued, leading to a growing trend of customers seeking alternatives to Uber's services.

Richard Sheets We have a family or four, and had 1 carry on eah, plus 4 suitcases. Weeks ahead, we reserved Uber van or U er Black for 4:30 a.m to catch a 6 a.m. fljght. At 4:45 the Uber driver pulls up in a in a late model Nissan Altima. We were so angry we could have cried. He said, "well, I can make two trip?" We said that's not what we reserved, nor feasible. He went back to his car and canceled our ride for refusing to go with him, before we could report him. Uber charged us $25.00 for the inconvenience we caused that poor man. I ended up driving my Avalon and parking underground right next to the airport for 5 days at a cost of $125.00. But I had an excellent vacation in Bradentin Florida. But I haven't Ubered since.

For starters, Uber could care less about the drivers. They don't pay well and customer service is no help. You call in and either you have to keep trying because you can't reach anyone or the person you finally talk with doesn't speak English. The gentle that I finally was able to speak with pretended he couldn't hear me on the phone but he answered a question. That doesn't make sense. I have been dealing with the same issue for over a week now with them and still nothing. They definitely don't want to transfer you to a supervisor or someone who can actually help. So I give up, I am done with Uber.if I was able to give zero starts, I will. It's just not worth it in my option.

Avoid like the plague
August 29, 2023

Avoid this company like the plague. They take your money and don't deliver. Ordered a meal on here last year which was never delivered (total was over chf77). The Uber delivery man never called my phone when he arrived and when I went to the place he had supposedly dropped the food (which wasn't even in the same road as the address I provided) the food wasn't there. Had a back and forth for days with Uber who refused to refund me.
My credit card company thankfully refunded me the money but over a year later I log back into Uber to order a taxi and they take the money AGAIN from my UK card as the bank cancelled the transaction with them.
Just unbelievable that they can get away with this.

I was an Uber driver for 5 years and they deactivated my account and told me a runaround. Had no option of standing up for myself at all. They never gave me a chance to defend myself. They say they have safety for drivers and riders their actions show different. One false report or any negative rate will get u deactivated. Unjustified deactivation. Their ratings degrade their drivers and believe riders more over the driver.4.91 positive rating over 100 positive comments ….

Driver did not come to correct pickup location- and he refused to give me the street address where he was instead just giving me the general intersection of 2 streets. He was nearby and could have come to my exact location as I told him but he refused to do so, and refused to answer any more questions and just went silent as 2 or more minutes passed- meaning all that time was wasted and I consequently had even less time to get to my medical appointment. He waited all that time without further answering my questions and then canceled on me and then I was charged a cancellation fee. I asked for a review and it is being refunded, but Uber left no provision for me to complain about the driver. This is for the trip that was my first booking today on 8/23/2023.

Awful service
August 22, 2023

Very pricey on both uber rides and Uber eats. The worst customer service and support. So dishonest and unprofessional. Unable to reach someone live, it's only via chat. I double tipped an Ubereats driver in error and are denying me a refund of the extra $…

Uber failed to communicate pickup
August 20, 2023

I flew on AA flight 3270 from Santa Fe to DFW on August 17. I booked a ride with Uber before I left Santa Fe. After I retrieved my baggage, I went to the designated area for pick up. There was no ride there and I had received no communication about the driver and the car like they usually do. I. Tried to book another ride but when I input the flight number, the response said they couldn't find this flight number so I took a taxi instead When I got home I find that I have been charged for two rides by Uber when I didn't take any. Later that evening I find messages from the driver on the app trying to facilitate the pick up. He alleged my phone was off while I was on the app trying to find the ride. Later that night I was finally able to send a response outlining what happened. The next day I find that they refunded about $23.00 of the $160.00 in charges for services that were never received. I had to give them my credit card before I could book a ride, trusting they wouldn't abuse it. In addition to charging for services that were never rendered, they have no way for a customer to communicate with them on their app when there is a problem. I will now have to file a protest with the credit card bank to recover the balance of the charges they ran through. Beware of using Uber.

I've been utterly conned and over double charged in Rome
I've been utterly conned. Booking a trip from inside Rome city to Lenonardo da Vinci airport just outside Rome.
The agreed fare was approx 67 euros which turned out to be 95 euros then added to this a reservation fee of 15 euros.
The equivalent taxi is a set rate of 50 euros as per local mandatory requirements. At a rate of 67 euros the convince of Uber makes sense. However for a far higher fee and a booking rate of 15 euros which is not made clear at the booking stage then this is nothing short of a total con coming to 107 euros for an equivalent 50 euro taxi ride.
My solution? As a long term Uber user I have Careem in my home city and traditional taxi services and after raising my complaint to Uber I either want the fair rate reinstated and the not announced 15 euro booking fee reimbursed or I simply cancel the app, never use their terrible service again and tell everyone not to use them to avoid getting ripped off. Do the right thing Uber - give me the agreed rate and tell people what fees you are charging from the start, not at the end of the journey. Others planning on using this service please take note and avoid over double the costs. Uber is a rip off officially.

Used to be good until drivers in remoter areas learned how to team up, and game the system. Available drivers turn down the fares, to create a backlog and drive the price up, and then they all accept them when they get above a certain threshold. Knowing people will have no choice but to pay

Which leaves you waiting 20 minutes for a ride connection, and paying 30% more

Crooked Uber
August 14, 2023

I ordered a Uber to go from the Outlet Mall in San Clemente to San Juan Capistrano (7.9 miles) and the charge was $49. What a ripoff and the driver only got paid $20 of that money. No wonder the reviews here are so bad. Uber is like a crook on wheels.

False accusations
August 13, 2023

The company sent me a message saying that a passenger accused me of being under the influence. Of course anyone who knows me knows this isn't true. I don't drink alcohol or use any drugs! The company put a block on my account and I couldn't access my money that I had made for the day. This is wrong! It's one thing to accuse someone of something but too block access to their money is totally unethical! I'm telling UBER and the entire world that UBER is a piece of garbage! It's no wonder they are so hated by their driver's. It's best not to let your money accumulate but instead to cash out when it gets up to $100.

Uber Reservation
August 13, 2023

Two weeks before a concert I was taking my family to I scheduled an Uber reservation for pick up and drop off at the concert. I also scheduled the pick up from the concert to return home. Our driver taking us there was great, showed up early and got us closer than we planned. However, the return ride got cancelled 10 minutes after we were supposed to be picked up. Stranding my entire family until after Midnight until magically they found a driver when I had to make another request, but instead of the $45 rate I reserved, I had to pay $150 to get us home. Word of caution! Making a reservation does not guarantee a ride even though it should be considered a contract. F Uber. Never using them again. I'll pay the extra and guarantee service by using a private driving company.

I could Not reserve one 30 minutes ahead, only up to 90 minutes. So at 4:00 pm I gave up and paid $27
107.93 from St Petersburg airport to Bradenton without tip. I had no choice. Driver said because rush hour, But when I got home 5:15, I checked and same route was $50. We're there very many Ubers available, Yes, I picked the cheapest. Strange how that rate changed. Really? Don't tell me busy time because there were many available, lol seriously at the airport, no shortage. Not seeing rush hour at 4 pm but not 5pm. Unconscionable!
Never again will I Uber.
You owe me $50.00!
Fool me once, shame on you.

Just got robbed of our food. We ordered some food from Greggs (Warstone Lane), one of the items being 4 bakes and 4 doughnuts as a deal. We get our order and start eating but then realise none of our doughnuts were in the bag. We called the store to let them know of this, they then double confirmed that they put the doughnuts in a separate bag (there's now three bags in total) and gave them to the Uber driver. They had also numbered each bag, we only have bag 1 and bag 3. So we then call the Uber driver to ask where the 3rd bag is and he says "I don't know". We ask him "how many bags did you take from the store", he says 3, so again we ask him where the 3rd bag is, he stays silent for a long time then says "I don't know, you have to call the store not me". He kept clarifying that he had collected THREE bags from the store but only gave us TWO bags. Then he hung up and blocked the number.

Uber driver's name is Jundi. He rides a bike.

Uber Has Become A Shakedown
August 7, 2023

Uber has become a greedy service that is unfair to drivers and shaking down riders.

On a trip this weekend to Portland, I noticed unusually high fairs. As I went through my email reviewing 12 ride receipts, I discovered that Uber is charging $15 to schedule a ride plus a booking fee. On the $64.83 ride attached, the total in fees was $21.53.

My further aggravation with Uber is that the scheduling is unreliable. As a rider, we have 5 minutes before Uber starts charging waiting time.

Worse is what happened when we ordered a car to take us to the airport at the beginning of our trip. We never received a text that driver arrived. The text said take your time and charges will start being incurred at 5:45 a.m. Then another text at 5:45 a.m. came stating the driver cancelled and I was tagged with $40 cancellation fee,

Buyer beware! If you schedule, take into account it adds at least $21 to the fair. Also, make sure to tip the drivers, because Ubers compensation is unfair.

Horrible service
August 5, 2023

After more than 3 years of loyal use I actually left my house/truck keys in a drivers car. I realize seconds after getting out and they drove away as I ran after them. Customer service was god awful and until i told the lost and found service that I'd pay the driver a hundred dollars to return the keys I got 0 response. Once I mentioned a 100$ the driver called me back minutes later. Do not use Uber. Use Lyft. Uber takes advantage and is an awful service.
