I rented a car on Turo and unfortunately had an accident. The car was slightly scratched. The damaged can hardly be seen from a distance. I spoke to the driver and he gave me a quote to repair the car. After I did my own research I realised I could do it for cheaper. I informed the owner and after discussing he changed his mind and said he now wanted to process the issue through Turo. Most likely because he wanted to squeeze all he could out of the situation. Thereafter, turo sent me an invoice to pay £1,185! For a scratch you can hardly see. The car is valued at its best £1500 it's a Fiat Punto 2013. I accept responsibility for the damage I made, but the amount is completely disproportionate. Terrible Terrible experience.

Car given was not the car listed in the description. Could not leave seller a review because seller deleted listing. Complained to Turo how I should be able to leave a review. Instead of solving the problem and letting me leave a review, Turo was beating around the bush. There's a reason they mostly have good reviews. They try their best to silence bad reviews.

I have had a terrible experience with this company. This is my first time hosting with this company and it turned out to be a terrible decision on my part. My first renter obviously had replaced or exchanged the transmission. The shop and adjuster both stated that " it almost looks like the transmission has been removed or exchanged and bolts not tightened correctly. Bolts are loose and missing." " the wire harness attached to transmission has been removed and detached from its securing points on the transmission. The leak is short term and recent. There is no accumulation of dirt in the area". How dare they with this observation stating that mechanical failure due to normal wear and tear of the vehicle and did not cover me through their policy. My car had been driving extremely well with no issue and just had a recent inspection. Hosts, please be aware of thieves, you wouldn't believe people would replace your transmission. Please do not rent your car on Turo because Turo will not cover you when your parts or expensive transmission being replaced by guests. Now I ended up with a huge debt and a non drivable car They failed to protect their hosts and let the criminals out there continue to do that with other hosts.
It's very sickening how they have handled my case and maybe many other cases like this. That is so upsetting.

I booked a vehicle for 3 days for a total of $195. In day 2nd I decided to extend the vehicle for one extra day. Once I got back home I found that they charged me $120 for that extra day. I called turo and they indicated that the extension gets charged at a higher (much higher!) price than the original booking.

I will never book again with these crooks!

What began as a wonderful experience with Turo through Guy, went sour when we upgraded with his colleague Roman.

A day or so after we returned the vehicle on March 27 we were informed that we were being charged almost $300 for smoking in the vehicle and would never be allowed to rent with Turo again. This was based on three photographs: one with two Doritos that has slipped between the seats, another of the outside of the vehicle, and a third, which supposedly proved we had smoked in the vehicle, when in fact, it was silt from 1000 miles of travel and glacial hikes. At no point or we advised of any policy around cleaning the vehicle before returning it. Nor were we told that purchasing marijuana products which is legal in Alaska, could potentially result in us being accused of actually smoking it in the vehicle.

I am currently having to contest this claim with the bank, and after almost a month and a half Touro has still not been in communication with anybody to substantiate this fraudulent claim.

Sadly, I cannot in good conscience recommend Turo to anybody.

After car broke down,... I spent HOURS on Turo "helpline"... Turo will "ditch you" in situations like this...and pulverize their responsibility by only allowing phone instead of chats... leaving you nothing but unforfilled promises. Wost company EVER.

All these people here giving bad reviews clearly did not read what they were purchasing. It is clear what you are buying, your deductible is outlines right in front of you. I am a power host and have had a few claims with Turo and all have been quick and fair. Yes, I had to pay a deductible because the plan I personally selected has a deductible that was clear to me before the trip started. If you want a $0 deductible plan you can buy one, just like all other insurance products. You just have to pay more.

Turo is HORRIBLE
March 21, 2023

Turo is a total scam. My buddy and I planned a ski trip and made the mistake of "renting" a car from these geniuses. I paid for the vehicle on MY CREDIT CARD and I was listed as a driver. We also secured the premium insurance package to cover us both and the car. No ordinary coverage on the cheap; the insurance alone was about $300. In the days before the trip, my buddy had a family emergency and can't go. So, I forge ahead and contact the vehicle owner to determine pick up, etc. The vehicle owner (who was great and nothing like the low lifes at Turo) says he can't give us the car. When we booked, my buddy happened to put himself as "primary" driver by merely typing his name first. I laughed and told him that I paid for the vehicle, was a listed driver and fully insured. He said that TURO makes the rules and I'd have to call them. In the meantime, I had paid nearly $1000 for a vehicle I could not pick up. Calls to Turo were horrible and I spoke to everyone in Pakistan and India. Finally, one guy says that this "primary driver" thing is an internal rule and the fact that we weren't told about it was of no moment. But, since I had paid for the vehicle, he said he could cancel it, and then I would simply rebook the vehicle when it became available by the cancellation. And therein lies the scam. When I did this, the car price jumped up $260! I'm about to go to the airport so there is nothing I can do. I pick up the VERY SAME VEHICLE I RENTED ORIGINALLY, but now for $1270, and raise hell when I arrive at my destination. It is there that I also discover they charged me an additional $156 CANCELLATION FEE! YES AN ADDITIONAL SCAMMER FEE! They finally take me out of India and I speak to a somber guy by the name of Vladimir. He said that what agent in Paskitan/India did was improper and immediately took off the $156 cancellation charge. I also told him the ridiculous story of how we simply typed in my buddy's name first and that I had paid for the vehicle, and was a listed and insured driver. He said that he could understand why I would be upset and that he would put everything in the "notes" for the case, and get the difference refunded. His words: "that other agent should not have done that." I thanked him and asked him to also email me these notes so that I could be sure that Turo honored his promise. No email came nor did the refund. After numerous emails, another supervisor emailed me and said it was all my fault and the refund would not be awarded. So, there is my tale of woe, and BUYERS BEWARE. This has been an expensive nightmare and YOU ALL SHOULD STAY AWAY...

This company is horrible
March 16, 2023

I would not recommend Turo to any renter. I rented a vehicle got into a very small accident and Turo is nonexistent in communication etc. You call them they give you the runaround, and through email no response at all! Doesn't matter which insurance you purchase they will not send you a detailed contract to show exactly what you paid for. From normal renting companies you have a contract with detail oriented information.

Terrible company to work with.
March 10, 2023

The host canceled my reservation last minute,
Both the host and Toro website promise to return the money - my deposit - payment within 24 hours. 7 Days later still no money back in my account.
American Express confirmed that Turo is still sitting on my money. And the turo app almost impossible to get past the robot.
I am Very disappointed
When I rent from Hertz my deposit is return to my credit card within 24 hours.
Also most credit card or private insurance companies do not cover for any damage that might occur to the car so it forces you to buy the highest level of insurance.
I recommend you don't use this site. Unless you for sure know all of the expenses you're getting into there are a lot of
Additional hidden fees - expenses. Definitely cheaper and easier to rent from a major company in most cases.
At least make sure you pick a very good host with lots of experience and good reviews.
Otherwise I recommend do not use this site.

Watch out for start times
February 26, 2023

I have rented from Turo successfully twice. Both rentals were complete without any problems. The cars were exactly what I expected and I had absolutely no problem. I will definitely rent again.
HOWEVER, one reservation was scheduled to begin at 8 am. The host tried to contact me on Turo, which I did not see, and then called Turo who canceled the reservation without my knowledge (the reservation was for an entire week, and was made weeks before), without ever attempting to reach me on my cell phone. So when I checked on my rental (thinking it would be available after all I had reserved it for a week). I was informed I did not have a car, and it was already rented elsewhere.
Since then, I have learned that Turo not only had my cell number (that's how they identified my account) but so did the host. NO ONE called or texted my cell phone. The host then blamed Turo for canceling and re-booking. However, I also learned, she did not have to report that I was late, but chose to.
This could have gone so much better if they had just texted me.
She lost the week-long rental, but I found an excellent car with a really accommodating host.

Don't do it
January 24, 2023

If the car breaks down you will have to pay out of pocket or with your own insurance. And the car likely will break down as these are just normal citizens renting out their cars. Most of them don't know much about car upkeep.

I spent hours on home with Turo road side assistance and never even had a human take the call. The host did return my call eventually and said he couldn't help. He called Turo and the person we spoke to said roadside assistance usually takes many hours to even answer their phone, and then a few more hours to dispatch someone.

Don't do it, it's not worth it. Use a reputable car company. You've been warned.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Don't count on Turo's help when things go wrong. I attempted to extend a rental that was plagued with issues (that I resolved on my own with the host). Flat tyre, tyre replacement, subsequent NEW flat tyre, presumed valve issues at this point.

For whatever reason, the extension request didn't go through properly on the app and when I contacted support in the morning to arrange the extension with them, I was informed that I would need to make a BRAND NEW RESERVATION on Turo for the car.

This was now going to cost me £330, instead of the £204 quoted to me for the extension I attempted to make the day before, in addition to a NEW DEPOSIT of £250, while they continued to hold my existing £250 deposit. I informed them I would find an alternative solution to making a new booking through them.

Turo support then proceeded to send me threatening emails about contacting local police and keeping all of my deposit if I didn't either return the vehicle immediately (?!) to the host, or make the new booking with them "within the hour".

They then proceeded to take an additional £79.17 payment for the "late return" (which I doubt the host will see a penny of), despite my being in communication with my very friendly host who was aware of our situation at every point on the trip. Still no sign of my deposit being returned.

Being ill and travelling this week has been incredibly stressful, in addition to being a very expensive holiday week. You guys have really been the icing on the cake. Will AVOID in future.

DO NOT USE! SCAMMERS!
December 14, 2022

It's a scam. SCAM SCAM

They don't vet their hosts.

I have been accused of smoking with pictures taken of ashes in the car. I don't smoke. I have been terminated from Turo therefore I can't retrieve any of my pictures or correspondence with the host. I sent in the pictures that I took before I dropped it off of a clean car. They took my money and I can't get in touch with anyone. If it were a fender bender I was accused of with a scratch or dent I could possibly go along with it, however it's smoking and I was the only one in the car and don't smoke. The fact the host turned in pictures of an ash filled cup holder and console is suspicious and reeks of a scam.

Please protect yourself and don't use this company.

Never use Turo
December 11, 2022

They canceled my first car 10 minutes before I arrived. I ordered another car out of necessity. I had to walk a quarter mile from the place they gave me directions to get to the car. The car worked fine. The day after I dropped it off, they charge my credit card $170.00 Because there was dog hair in the back of the car by the tailgate. I never even opened the tailgate and never had any dog fir near the car. It was a bogus charge which they will not refund. There is no people in the company to communicate with in person. It's all through chat and very inconvenient. Run from this company!

They will make you pay 500 to 3000 no matter what
November 1, 2022

Was nice until I faced the theft of catalytic converter within one of the trip. If you think this is something you can control, no, you really cannot. Thanks to my insurance which paid for it. Turo made me pay $500 after all anyway.
They are saying it is a damage, not theft. So like I did it. Good right?
Turo will make you pay whenever it's your fault or not. It is not client oriented. I really do not recommend this company. It is not safe at all.
I have so many questions to this company.

TURO- A TOTAL SCAM!
November 1, 2022

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH TURO! A TOTAL SCAM!
I rented a vehicle from Turo for the first time. After returning from my trip, I received an email days later that I had been charged a whopping fee of $237, for a chipped wind shied, which was more than the car rental. They charged the card on file automatically. Once Turo gets the credit card, they invoice fraudulent charges. Do not give these people your credit card or banking info. The customer service is pro car owners and does not care about the users.

Will never use this service again. HORRIBLE! I would never recommend them to anyone. Please do your self a favor and use a real car rental company.
Do not get scammed by TURO!

Turo is a great service to rent from however, I had a bad experience with one of its host-Best Deals with renting his 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. This person was very rude, impatience and very unprofessional to say the least. He cancelled my reservation without my approval simply because I could not locate the instructions that he provided as to how to upload some documents. Mind you, this was my very first time utilizing Turo and this particular host. I simply stated to him that if I wasn't able to locate what he was referencing then I may have to cancel. I didn't say I wanted to cancel. I said I may have to. When I asked for a supervisor, he stated I was threatening him, simply because I asked for a supervisor. He was rude hence reason I asked for supervisor. I will NEVER recommend renting from this host again. Turo customer service as able to read all the messages on the account-thank God and they rebooked me another vehicle at the same cost. Even though the other vehicle was much more, Turo made me whole by taking care of the difference for my inconvenience. Be aware of this host-Best Deals.
