The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, particularly regarding its customer service and software reliability. Common concerns include unresolved technical issues, difficulties with tax submissions, and a lack of effective support channels. Many users reported feeling frustrated by the customer service experience, citing long wait times, unhelpful representatives, and unresolved complaints. While some customers have used the service for years, recent changes appear to have led to a decline in perceived value and support. This feedback suggests a pressing need for the company to enhance its customer service approach and address software functionality issues.

Turbo Tax promises to refund one's money if dissatisfied, or if you get a higher refund elsewhere, and they did not. Turbo tax premium did not support the specific form I had from the sale of a second home, so I lost confidence in the program and had my taxes done by a professional. This professional saved me over $1000 from what I would have paid using Turbo Tax. I requested a refund at the very end of the 90 day refund period, filling in every field carefully, and attaching my receipt. I received a vague response saying there was missing information, my case was now closed, and that I would need to start the return process over. Of course I couldn't do that because it was past the return window, and I knew I had done everything perfectly the first time anyway. So, I gave up and decided to just warn others that you can't actually get a refund if you're dissatisfied.
The nightmare began after taxes were complete. The final step asked for the information I needed. It took me a couple of days to get it.
With time left before the tax deadline, they closed my account.
There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. 7 hours & $780 wasted.
In 2014 was audited by IRS on Sale of Rental Property. IRS said TurboTax is a problem and fails to capture or process the information properly.I got stuck with a $20,000 bill, interest and penalties. In 2022, I discover that $55,000 in Legal Fees incurred in a lawsuit in 2015 were also deductible but Turbotax failed to query me about the Fees. Between a good for nothing attorney and TurboTax product failures, I am out $75,000 and the last three years of my life have been torturous. TurboTax Audit Representation is also totally useless making a difficult situation intolerable. I just decided to dump the Audit Counselor because he simply wasted my time... Totally terrible product and useless.
TurboTax loves to take as much money as possible and make it as difficult as possible to remove products. I had to restart my taxes entirely because I accidentally upgraded. There was no way to downgrade unless I restarted. They ought to be reported to the BBB -- it's super predatory.
In addition, when I selected 'pay with my refund', there was no 'price tag', but I was charged $40. I was able to find out how to remove this and pay with a card, but it was complicated. Predatory again.
This year, I was too late to change. Next year, I would rather pay an accountant twice as much than suffer through this BS again. I also recommend checking out FreeTaxUSA -- I've heard they're free for federal and $15 for state taxes. Don't give this lobbying company any more of your money.
They would get a Zero If I could give.2 days on hold, they have my taxes hostage, there program is corrupt for 2022 and they want access to my computer to see whats wrong? Are they nuts? Even their security department disagrees with that request. NEVER GIVE ACCESS TO ANYONE YOU DONT KNOW TO YOUR COMPUTER! I asked to escalate my complaint and they hang up on you because they don't want to admit they cant help you. They have stolen over 250 dollars of my money because I cant use their program and they refuse to make it work.Thieves, scammers and bad customer service.STAY AWAY
Turbo tax take out money from account.
Not sure if there is subscriptions.
One I bought but the other one has been deducted automatically.
Very hard to get refund.
If I could give them no stars, I would give them none! They found I was being over-taxed but when it came time to amend it, none of these "tax professionals" all of a sudden forgot how to do their job. Then, they told me there are basically more important customers who need to get their returns done and they couldn't help me until after the 18th of April. It is funny because they take your money quick and tack on all these other charges but when its time to have them help you get money back that was robbed from you, they don't have time.
I filed my taxes, and nearly accidentally signed up for add ins a number of times. It is so frequent that nearly every other page is either an add in or an option to deposit money elsewhere. The worst page was where it didnt display direct deposit as an option until you click "other refund options". I have no doubt that people are signing up for investment accounts and other accoutns they did not intend to sign up for by filing taxes with turbot tax.
TurboTax (or as I like to call them, TurdboTax) is the worst company to ever exist on God's green Earth. They are crooks who steal money from the working class. No other first world country does this to pay taxes. I wish I could move to South Africa
The interface isn't as intuitive as it used to be. I had to get help from an expert a number of times because the choices it gave me didn't make sense. When it came to the final review of my state taxes, it gave me an error that I needed to fix my address, specifically it asked for an apartment number. I don't live in an apartment, I live in a house. Multiple experts couldn't help me. I ended up putting a "0" in the line and that fixed it. Very frustrating. I will think hard before using Turbotax again next year.
I hated my experience with Turbo Tax. While the platform prides itself on being "easy" and harps on this idea of putting the people first, it quite literally tricks you at the end by forcing upon you unnecessary fees, not to mention the cost is not exactly affordable as the price continuously rises. Still, my family falls victim to it every because it is familiar and maintains uploads of previous tax returns. Though this service is no longer just unique to Turbo Tax, making it difficult to justify using it. It is extremely frustrating when you realize they lobby for taxes to continue to be difficult to understand, using purposely confusing jargon, for the average American. Not to mention they collect loads of data and information and force upon you updates after updates when you don't even know exactly what you are agreeing to, yet you must do it order to continue to use the service. They are smart for waiting until the end to push random fees because by the time you get to that point you'll agree to anything just to be done. Not that any tax platform or service is truly for the people, but Turbo Tax has become so conniving I have taken the responsibility upon myself to write this lengthy review and make my voice heard so others may turn away from Turbo Tax and seek other service platforms with even slightly more consideration and decency for the average hardworking American.
There ad indicates that service is free based on your income and at the end they attempt to extort a payment. Will unnecessarily send you back and forth thru the site and ask irrevelant questions to delay completion and at the end you have entered personal information told you must sign and file but prevent you from filing by constantly submitting a page with a fee.
I filed my taxes as a "S" Corporation. All went well I e-filed and it was received. Then the trouble started. I received a letter in the mail saying that the wrong form was used. I received it a couple of weeks later and no big deal filled it out and returned. Then I received a 6 page form with a 10 page instruction book on how to file for an S Corp from the IRS. I paid Turbo Tax to do my return and ended up doing it all again with out their help. I can't find a phone number to complain to Turbo Tax.
Offered a fake discount code and then refused to refund the difference. Customer service rep was disrespectful and lacking in any customer service skills. Will never use Turbotax again.
Turbotax put a completely random bank account into my tax return. It meant that my tax return got sent to somebody else. I talked to them in the chat, and they told me to talk to the IRS. But the IRS wasn't the one who made the mistake. I paid turbotax to file my return, and they filed it wrong. They didn't even ask for my bank info, they just put random numbers in. They never acknowledged that they had made a mistake.
Used the simple version for many years. This year as I retired and wanted to maximize any advantages I decided to use Turo Tax "FULL SERVICE DELUXE". A total waste of time. Thirty minutes of waiting for a so-called expert to review my docs and then tell me that the service I opted for didn't cover my tax predicament because I had T3s. I now need to upgrade to a premium package at $149.00 for each my wifes and myself. Needless to say, I opted out. T3s are not a complex document and pretty standard in investments. Just another typical cash grab.
This company is extremely predatory. They hide and mislead to make you pay as many fees as possible, while claiming that you can do your taxes for less than half the real price (and if you pay from your return, it's another $40, making the total cost more than 4x what they claim).
This has been the worst experience I've had with TT. I've been with them for over ten years but the UI this year I'd full of up sell stuff! How many times need I decline MAX? Credit Karma? Plus the UI is very buggy and keeps taking u back to screen after screen even after u complete them. Frustrating! Plus the rates now are too great. Won't be back!
As I began my search for a trustworthy tax filing service, I couldn't help but stumble upon Intuit TurboTax, a popular tax software provider. While it's widely recognized, I've discovered several alarming issues that I believe prospective users should be aware of before making their decision.
To begin with, Intuit has been known to lobby politicians to prevent the creation of a free, government-run tax filing system in the United States. This is a stark contrast to the tax filing process in most other first-world countries, where citizens can file their taxes directly on government websites, without cost. It's clear that Intuit's primary concern is preserving its profits rather than providing a service that benefits the American public.
Furthermore, TurboTax advertises its "free" tax filing service, which, in reality, is anything but. The platform is designed with dark patterns, making it nearly impossible for the average American to navigate the system and file their taxes without eventually being pushed towards paid options. This misleading marketing tactic leaves users feeling cheated and frustrated.
My personal experience with TurboTax was a disheartening one. After switching to a different tax filing service, I started receiving an additional $800 in tax refunds, despite my income remaining the same. This substantial difference raises concerns about the behind-the-scenes practices at Intuit and whether they have their customers' best interests at heart.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend Intuit TurboTax as a reliable or ethical tax filing service. Their lobbying efforts to block free government tax filing, misleading "free" filing advertisements, and questionable business practices have left me deeply disappointed. There are better alternatives available, and I urge anyone considering TurboTax to explore other options for a more transparent and trustworthy tax filing experience.
Answer: Very difficult to get, had to call numerous times to get a response and then there was no, let me help you with that. They were uncaring about my situation, I had to pursue questioning what they can do and would end up forwarding me to departments that did not respond.
Answer: They also charged me when they shouldn't have. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They are crooks.
Answer: Yea. You can download your DOCS and bring them in. In print them out and bring them in. Turbotax saves your completed documents each year.
